5 Ways with the Springtime Tabs Stamp!

We just love our latest tab and phrase stamp in the shop: the Springtime Tabs stamp! Not only does this stamp coordinate with the Everyday Tabs Metal Dies, but it can be used in so many different ways! Let’s take a look at five different ways that our talented team has used this stamp on their projects:

  1. Create a column of colorful tabs: We love the way that Marsha stamped tabs to coordinate with her flower photos, and created a column of pretty color on the left side of her traveler’s notebook spread to add the date and spring phrases! This simple way to use the Springtime Tabs stamp is perfect for any project!

2. Created a textured, painted background with stamped words: Meghann started creating her background with yellow watercolor paint, then topped the painted background with Springtime Tabs words stamped in yellow and coral to create a subtle, textured background element to add a bit of sunshine to her layout!

3. Create false folio files with patterned paper to make a big impact: This colorful and dimensional page created by Melissa uses 18 different stamped tabs, adhered or stapled to patterned paper strips to resemble file folder tops. This clever use of the Springtime Tabs stamp brings so much color and fun to her page!

4. Accent a strong line with phrases: Suzanna’s clever “x” design created with patterned paper on her background creates a strong visual, and to accent the base of her strong, teal line, she added the repeated “excited about this” phrase in the same color, adding yet another element of interest to her page!

5. Create beautiful, custom embellishments: Jennifer blew us away by creating these beautiful, colorful flowers using our April 2020 cut files. She made them extra special, and added subtle color to them by using repeated phrases from the Springtime Tabs stamp!

Whether you simply create tabs to add a phrase or date to your project, stamp a phrase repeatedly on a background, or use our Springtime Tabs stamp to create custom embellishments, we know you’ll love using it to create your layouts, pocket pages, traveler’s notebook or planner spreads! Did you find a different way to use your stamp? Share it with us on Instagram using the hashtag #EllesStudio, or in our Elle’s Studio Facebook Group!

Documenting Currents with Lorilei Murphy

Good and bad, we’re supposed to record it all, and during these times that our lives have changed, it’s important to continue to document how we are experiencing each day. That’s what guest designer Lorilei Murphy did on the layout she’s sharing with us today—documenting her feelings and thoughts about having to prepare for a pandemic and the unknown, but in such a beautiful way using our April 2020 monthly kit and add-ons!

Hello! It’s Lorilei here with you today sharing a layout I made using the gorgeous April Elle’s Studio kit and extras! I couldn’t help but scrapbook about the current situation we are all experiencing. That’s what we do as memory keepers!

Supplies | April 2020 Kit, April 2020 Print and Cut LabelsPlant Lady Journaling TagsBeautiful Day Die Cuts, Black Typewriter Cardstock Alphabet Stickers, This Week Chipboard Stickers, Tiny Shapes and Dots Puffy Stickers, Spring Wood Veneers, Springtime Tabs Stamp, Typewriter Alphabet Stamp

My jumping-off point for this layout was the awesome journaling tag featuring the multi-coloured marks. The tag gave me the opportunity to use all the colours in the April Kit! I also selected the “story of today” tag from the kit, and the plant tag from the Plant Lady Journaling Tags. I picked out labels from the Beautiful Day Die Cuts pack and started to arrange them on my background.

Once I had an arrangement I liked, I began filling out the labels. I stamped my title on the deep red label using the fabulous Typewriter Alphabet Stamp, my new favorite! I also stamped the word “smile” on a pink label for the base of my layout, and then added the Black Typewriter Cardstock Alphabet Stickers to the top of the “Story of Today” tag from the April Kit. I decided to add my journaling to the April Print and Cut Labels and add them on top of the tags to add more pops of colour.

Next, I selected phrase stamps from the Springtime Tabs Stamp. I love this stamp set for adding little bits of extra “journaling” to a page! For finishing touches, I found three pieces of the Spring Wood Veneers that went with my story and added them around the page. Hearts and dots from the Tiny Shapes and Dots Puffy Stickers sprinkled in three areas tied it all together for me and completed the page!

Thanks so much for joining me today!  I hope you pull out your Elle’s Studio April goodies and tell your stories from this remarkable time!

On the Menu: Documented with Katarina Prevendarova

What has changed in your home in the past month? We’re guessing a lot! Today, design team member Katarina Prevendarova is with us to share the beautiful way she recorded extra time spent in her kitchen, and we think you’ll love her inspired layout background and interactive design! Let’s take a look!

Hi friends! It’s Katarina here with you, and today I am going to bring you a little inspiration using the gorgeous April kit and add-ons. March was very different for me, as many of you can relate! With my son and husband at home every day all day, I don’t remember when I cooked and baked so much in just a few weeks. As a passionate scrapbooker, I took a million photos and made an interactive overview of what could be found served in our dining room for a week during the month:

Supplies| April 2020 KitLife Right Now Stickers, This Week Chipboard StickersLovely Puffy Stickers, Fuchsia Puffy Alphabet Stickers, Flourish 6 x 8.5 Paper Stack

I was so inspired by the cute little hexagon die cuts in the April 2020 Kit that I decided to make a layout with a hexagonal pattern. I chose the teal, purple and blue papers from the Flourish 6 x 8.5 Paper Stack and cut it into hexagons big enough to hold a 2″ x 2” photo.

What also inspired me were the This Week Chipboard Stickers. I used one photo from each day of the week using a corresponding day chipboard sticker.

I wanted to the layout to be interactive and include a lot of journaling. I made 7 flips-ups using my hexagons with photos, one for each day. Under each of them there is a smaller hexagon cut from the lined paper from the Flourish 6 x 8.5 Paper Stack. I used this space to journal about how I regularly bake sourdough bread, how my son likes his morning oatmeal, or enjoys eating fresh veggies on the balcony.

I added a couple more hexagons using the journaling tags from the April Kit and one cut from the black and white paper that holds my title, for which I used the Fuchsia Puffy Alphabet Stickers and a chipboard sticker in corresponding color from the This Week Chipboard Stickers.

Last but not least, I added the trio of hexagon die cuts from the April Kit, a bunch of Life Right Now Stickers and Lovely Puffy Stickers. All elements that are not interactive were raised by adhesive foam to add dimension and lift.

I had a lot of fun with this layout using all the beautiful products and love how it turned out. I hope I have inspired you to play with your April kit and extras, too, and if you do, please don’t forget to share with us in the Elle’s Studio Facebook Group or on Instagram using the hashtag #EllesStudio. We love seeing what you create!

Sketch Day with Steph Grimes

Hello everyone! I hope you are doing well in your corner of the world! Today I am sharing a project inspired by our latest sketch and I’m so excited about this project! I love working with sketches as a starting point because they so often help me get over the fear of a blank page staring at me. For starters, here is a look at today’s sketch:

For my project, I translated this sketch into a traveler’s notebook spread to document my new-found love of the color pink. I have been a pocket scrapbooker for many years and have just recently taken up the traveler’s notebook format and starting with a sketch has been the only way I can make these pages come together! It was a fun, creative challenge to translate this 12″ x 12″ sketch into a smaller two-page spread:

Supplies | April 2020 Kit, Life Right Now StickersLovely Puffy Stickers, Spring Wood Veneers, Springtime Tabs Stamp, Typewriter Alphabet Stamp, Flourish 6 x 8.5 Paper Stack

Since the theme of my journaling was the color pink, I started by letting that guide some of my decisions. I absolutely love the tiny floral pattern paper included in the Flourish 6 x 8.5 Paper Stack and that was my first pick. I then selected the red and the green patterns. All of those decisions were made based on my theme and the floral paper. Often, when I’m struggling with a spread or just starting a new project, I like to remind myself that I just have to make the next single decision and eventually it will all come together!

The sketch called for a thin border along the top edge of the page, but instead of using more paper for this, I decided to stamp out words and phrases from the Springtime Tabs Stamp in ink to match the bottom border. Another thing I love about sketches is that they are open to your own interpretation and allow for your own personal style to shine through!

For my pages’ title, I decided to use the “hello” and “lovely” script phrase stickers from the Lovely Puffy Stickers. I also stamped out “pink” as a subtitle on the 3″ x 4″ journaling tag from the April 2020 Kit using the awesome Typewriter Alphabet Stamp (these are going to get a LOT of use in my projects!). For the banners in the top right corner, I selected one from the die cuts included in the April Kit and for the gray one, I simply cut it from one of the 3″ x 4″ journaling tags.

Finally, the sketch included a little visual triangle of embellishments, indicated by the stars on the sketch. I decided that a little wood veneer would be a good touch, so I chose two pieces from the Spring Wood Veneers and for the third embellishment, I chose a tiny puffy flower from the Lovely Puffy Stickers

Working with sketches is so fun! I hope that you will take on this creative challenge and make a project using today’s sketch and share it with us using the hashtag #EllesStudio on Instagram, or in our Elle’s Studio Facebook Group. Happy crafting and be safe out there!

Spring Greetings with Nathalie Leonelli

You don’t always have to have a reason to send a card—creating a handmade greeting just to let someone know that you care is reason enough! Today, design team member Nathalie Leonelli, who loves creating and sending special cards, is sharing two spring designs created with the April 2020 Monthly Kit and add-ons. Let’s take a look!

I absolutely loved creating cards with the April kit and extras! They were the first project I made when I received my goodies, all because of the Lovely Puffy Stickers and Beautiful Day Die Cuts, two must-have add-ons this month!

Supplies | April 2020 Kit, Beautiful Day Die Cuts, Life Right Now StickersLovely Puffy StickersFlourish 6 x 8.5 Paper Stack

The “Thanks, Mom!” tag from the April 2020 Kit inspired me to make a Mother’s Day card (by the way—it’s less than a month away!) and I created a pretty bouquet by layering a variety of puffy flowers from the Lovely Puffy Stickers

I paired the tag with paper from the Flourish 6 x 8.5 Paper Stack, yellow labels, half a die cut from the kit and finally a sticker from the Life Right Now Stickers. From the colors, to the dimension and the textures, I love it all!

My second card is just as pretty thanks to the same die cut and puffy sticker packs, but I went with a bolder color combination for this one.

Once again, for the base, I combined a tag from the April Kit with papers from the Flourish 6 x 8.5 Paper Stack.

The sentiment is a puffy sticker from the Lovely Puffy Stickers and I completed the card with a sticker from the Life Right Now Stickers on top of a label from the Beautiful Day Die Cuts. Spring is here, but since we can’t fully enjoy it yet, may I suggest sending it in the mail in the form of cards? Happy crafting!

Share the cards that you create using our monthly kit and add-ons in our Facebook Group or on Instagram, using the hashtag #EllesStudio! We hope you share some handmade love with someone this season!

Documenting Beautiful Moments with Tracey Fox

We love ALL of our new products released with the April 2020 kit and add-ons, but we have a special place in our hear for the Beautiful Day Die Cuts!

This big pack of spring die cuts includes scripted words, perfect for titles, labels, perfect for journaling and layering, and beautiful illustrations, like flowers, leaves and watering cans! Let’s take a look at how Tracey Fox used this new pack of die cuts to create a gorgeous layout!

There’s nothing more exciting than opening up a pack of die cuts to see what’s inside, and the Beautiful Day Die Cuts in the April release definitely do not disappoint! The set is full of bold script words, lovely labels, and pretty spring flowers that coordinate beautifully with the April kit and other extras. Together, these items are so versatile that I was able to create the title, embellishments, and a colorful photo mat for a layout using only the contents of the die cut pack!

Supplies | April 2020 Kit, April Labels, Beautiful Day Die Cuts, Life Right Now Stickers, This Week Chipboard Stickers, Lovely Puffy Stickers, Flourish 6 x 8.5 Paper Stack, Title Builder Vol. 4 Stamp

For this layout, I chose to document the butterfly photo op murals we saw at Epcot during the International Festival of the Arts during our last visit to Walt Disney World. I knew the colorful photos we took would be complemented so well by the vibrant spring themes in the April release. To create the foundation for my page, I chose a patterned paper from the Flourish 6 x 8.5 Paper Stack and adhered pieces of it to the top and the bottom of a sheet of white cardstock. I used some Gelatos to blend additional color onto the page in between the patterned papers to create a foundation for my photos.

After I chose two vertical 4″ x 6″ photos to center on my layout, I had a great time using all of the label die cuts in the Beautiful Day Die Cuts to create a frame around them. I alternated the labels by color, size, and shape and tucked them under the photos to create a colorful border. To make them stretch further, I cut a lot of the labels in half so I could use them more than once!

To create the title for my layout, I used some of the awesome script words in the die cut pack to say, “love this beautiful moment.” I used foam adhesive to pop up a couple of the words so I could layer them up a bit at the top and bottom of my photos.

I typed my journaling onto a 4″ x 6″ tag from the April 2020 Kit and embellished it with a die cut arrow from the kit and two of the This Week Chipboard Stickers. I also stamped the brush stroke from the Title Builder Vol. 4 Stamp, because it filled the leftover space perfectly, and I liked how it added a little painterly detail on this page about the arts festival.

The floral die cuts in the Beautiful Day Die Cuts were perfect for embellishing this page! I chose to use only the small, colorful flowers so there wouldn’t be too many elements competing with the detailed photos, and I spread them across the page diagonally. I fussy cut some of the flowers out to remove the leaves to keep the flowers more uniform for this page, and I added a couple of the matching flowers from the Lovely Puffy Stickers.

I love how many die cuts I was able to use on this page and still have so many left from the pack for other projects! I can definitely see myself using them all very quickly! What are your favorite ways to use die cuts on your scrappy projects? I hope you’ll share what you make with these die cuts in the Elle’s Studio Facebook Group and use the #ellesstudio hashtag when you share on social media. Happy creating!

Documenting Currents with Guest Designer Lorilei Murphy

We are so excited to welcome Lorilei Murphy to the Elle’s Studio blog today as our April guest designer! Lorilei creates stunning layouts, pocket pages and traveler’s notebook spreads that always focus on good design and beautiful photos. We know that you’ll love the fun, stamp-heavy project that she’s sharing with us for her first post today! Let’s take a look!

Hello! My name is Lorilei, and I am thrilled to be sharing my projects with you this month! The time has flown by since I last guested with Elle’s Studio, and I am grateful to be invited back! Today, I am working with the April kit and many gorgeous add-ons available in Elle’s Studio shop!

I adore stamps and stamping. I was immediately intrigued by the Springtime Tabs Stamp and decided to use it in my first project! I paired the stamp set with the colourful April Labels. The labels have prompts like eating, watching, thinking, etc. and I thought they would be perfect for a currently spread. I gathered some items that my daughter chose to represent her life right now, and took a photo.

Supplies | April 2020 KitApril Labels, Tiny Shapes & Dots Puffy Stickers, Springtime Tabs Stamp, Everyday Tabs Metal Die, Typewriter Alphabet Stamp

I chose a pocket insert that would fit in my 6″ x 8″ album and then did some measuring to fill each pocket. Onto smooth, white paper, I stamped a tab in a co-ordinating colour to each April Label, and inside, a word phrase from the Springtime Tabs Stamp using black ink. I cut a square piece of cardstock to attach to the outside front of the pocket page; this creates the illusion that I have a page of paper pockets. It also allows the tab to slide in and out of the pocket page for journaling/reading. I used the Typewriter Alphabet Stamp to stamp the numbers 1 through 8 onto white cardstock and then used a punch to make them into a circle shape. Then I placed these number circles on the co-ordinating items in the photo before I adhered them to the project.

Once I had all the pieces stamped and cut, I assembled the pocket page. It went together really quickly at this point since all the pieces were made!

For a finishing touch, I added stars from the Tiny Shapes & Dots Puffy Stickers in coordinating colours both on the pockets and photo.

Thanks so much for joining me today, and I hope this project inspires you to document your currents!

Documenting Growth with Jess Forster

Today we welcome design team member Jess Forster to the blog! She’s honed in on one of the themes from our April kit and add-ons with her latest pocket page spread: Growth! Let’s take a look at how she’s documenting change and growth in her daughter in such a beautiful way in her pockets!

Hello and happy Saturday friends! Did you see the goodies that went on sale yesterday from the Elle’s Studio shop? There were so many fun things to choose from! What caught my eye were the well-designed journaling tags from the April kit, graphic labels from the Beautiful Day Die Cuts and whimsical flowers from the Lovely Puffy Stickers! These products evoke the feeling of spring and new beginnings. Inspired by the theme of growth, I decided to create a layout about my daughter maturing. Have a look!

Supplies | April 2020 Kit, Beautiful Day Die Cuts, Lovely Puffy Stickers, Title Builder Vol. 4 Stamp, Jane Alphabet Stamp

In this 6″ x 8″ double page spread, I documented some of the details about my daughter, Rowan’s development. Currently she is eight years old and she is growing up in so many different ways. Sometimes I catch myself thinking “When did she become so tall?” and I marvel at her current interests and likes. I also wanted to write a letter to her telling how how proud I was of her in this time of social distancing and COVID-19.

Inspired by the warm tones in the 3″ x 4″ tags from the April 2020 Kit, I used those colours to help inform my photo choices for my pocket page.  I loved the analogous colour scheme of red, coral and purple, and selected photos of Rowan in a pink jacket from a recent evening scooter ride. I printed two photos: one sized 6″ x 8″ and the other sized 3″ x 4″, both of which I snapped during the “golden hour.” I love how full of life the photos feel when paired with the labels from the Beautiful Day Die Cuts and the flowers from the Lovely Puffy Stickers. I also love highlighting our daily walk, which is a life-line to sanity as we shelter at home.

Lastly, I combined the words “grow” and “ing”from the Title Builder Vol. 4 Stamp to create a title and also highlight the theme of growth. I love how these words add dimension to the page and how fun it is to stamp on the labels from the Beautiful Day Die Cuts!

And that’s it friends: a few simple ways to document growth on a pocket page. Stay safe and stay at home! There is no better time to craft or use up your supplies. Thanks for reading!
