Memory Planning with Stacie Watson

Can you relate to scrappers guilt: the feeling that you get when you don’t use your loved supplies? Design Team member Stacie Watson was feeling that guilt, until she tried a new memory-keeping formate that helped her to use up her scraps! Let’s find out what it is today!

Hey, hey scrappy friends! It’s Stacie back with you today to share a new project. If you’re like me, you try to use up all of the awesome supplies that you get with your monthly kit and add-ons, but sometimes it just doesn’t happen. I’m not one who likes to buy things and then never use them—in this case, great scrapbooking products! So, I’ve been trying to be a lot better at making sure to use up my supplies in new and different ways. Because of this, I’ve turned to a new memory keeping format to help me use my leftover bits and pieces: memory planning! Today I’m sharing how I created a new memory planner spread using the March kit and add-ons!

It seems like this year, memory planning really took off! I love how people are using it to document their memories and knew that it would be perfect to help use up my supplies. Most people do weekly spreads in their memory planners, but since I create weekly pocket page spreads, I decided that a monthly format was best for me. There are some months that I have a lot of pictures that don’t make it into my pocket pages and then there are pictures that I love and want to include in all the projects!

I decided to go back and start this project with January 2020 and use up my March kit and add-ons. First, I printed out my memory planner pages (you can either purchase a memory planner or you can buy downloaded templates, which is what I did!) and used the outline Large Jane Alphabet and Large Jane Number Stamp at the top to create my title. Next, I went back through my photos from January and printed some out in different sizes and adhered them to the printed template.

After placing the photos, I went through what was left of my March 2020 Kit and the Flourish Paper Stack, cutting up some of the journaling tags and papers to fit in the spaces. Following that, I added in some stamps; the Word Circle Stamp, Title Builder Vol. 3 Stamp, and Title Builder Vol. 4 Stamp, along with my journaling. To finish off the spread, I added the Adventure Stickers, Be Happy Stickers, and the Title Builder Vol. 4 Puffy Stickers, some die cuts from the March Kit and some Cork Stars. 

I love how it turned out, and think I’m going to love this format to help me use up my supplies! I hope this spread helps to give you some ideas on how to use up your awesome Elle’s Studio supplies so they aren’t just sitting in a box on your shelf! Thanks for stopping by, and I can’t wait to see how you use up your March kit and extras!

Days of Me with Amy Jo Vanden Brink

When was the last time you documented yourself in a project? Today Amy Jo Vanden Brink is with us to share a new traveler’s notebook spread that uses our new Word Circle Stamp in such an awesome way to record a week of selfies. Let’s take a look!

Hello! It’s Amy Jo with you today, and I’m so excited to be here sharing a project featuring my favourite part of the March release, the Word Circle Stamp! This stamp set is so versatile and such fun to use, I almost had too many ideas to share with it and narrowing it down to one was tricky!  However, the days of the week were the main pull for me with this stamp, so I wanted to use that as my jumping off point.

I started by printing off my photos, all sized the same, 1-1/2″ x 2″, leaving plenty of room at the top to stamp my title. With the Large Jane Alphabet Outline Stamp, I added my title, and used one of the die cuts from the March 2020 Kit to add a subtitle that fit well with my spread. 

I used black pigment ink (it usually gives me the best impression) to stamp the days of the week on top of each photo, slightly overlapping the circle with the photo itself. As this gave me a very flat spread without any texture provided by the the stamping and the printed photos, I used some of the puffy hearts from the Title Builder Vol. 4 Puffy Stickers to add some colour and create some dimension.

I hope this inspires you to get stamping using the Word Circle Stamp! It really is an awesome set, and I can see so many more uses for it in future projects too! Thanks for checking out my project today!

Everyday Family Moments with Jen McMurtrey

How do you record everyday moments with the people you love the most? A traveler’s notebook spread is a perfect way to capture a special memory in a small space, and design team member Jennifer McMurtrey is with us to share a fantastic and creative spread that she made extra special by using our March Cut Files! Let’s take a look!

Hello friends! It’s Jen today with a traveler’s notebook spread using the Elle’s Studio March kit and add-ons along with the awesome coordinating digital content. 

My son has recently taken great interest in cast iron cooking, and I am very grateful . . . why? Now, he wants to spend time with me to help him find new recipes and provide guidance as we prep the food and cook together. At the beginning of March, we spent an entire evening outside cooking a roast over an open fire in his Dutch oven. I can’t express how wonderful it was to have the entire family together for three uninterrupted hours doing nothing but conversing, checking the meat and veggies, and stoking the fire. What a gift!

As I work my way through my 2020 monthly traveler’s notebook, I have really begun to embrace using large photos with minimal embellishments. The visual impact is awesome. To balance the photo used as the first page, I chose to sketch the “go out & explore” March Cut File repeatedly on a piece of vellum. 

Using the sketch function on the Silhouette Cameo has become one of my favorite techniques—it creates such a unique look!

To add a bit of color and texture to the vellum, I used the same March Cut File with patterned paper from the Flourish 6 x 8.5 Paper Stack to create a title. The March 2020 Print and Cut Labels were perfect for adding the date below the title.

Following the vellum is a second large photo upon which I added a sentiment from the Go See Do Acetate Die Cuts. Again, I chose to keep the embellishments light since the photo makes such a huge impact!

The story of the photos is next and this is where I really put the March 2020 Print and Cut Labels to use. Rather than use a journaling tag, I decided to use the labels and “cascade” the story down the front of another large photo. This was also a great way to hide an object in the picture that I didn’t like. 

At the top of the photo, I added a blank label and die cut from the March 2020 Kit, along with a sentiment from Title Builder Vol. 4 Puffy Stickers. Doing this seemed to anchor everything on the page and balance the embellishments.

For the final two pictures, I used the Adventure Stickers and Tiny Shapes and Dots Puffy Stickers to add color and texture. I love how this spread turned out!

March #EllesStudio Spottings on Instagram

We just love seeing how you document your memories using our products, and by using the #EllesStudio hashtag on Instagram, it makes it easy for us and our fellow Elle’s Studio fans to be inspired by YOU! These six paper crafters used the hashtag this month, and we can’t wait to share their projects with you!

Our first two projects used our Teal Acetate Alphabet in very different projects, and we love them both! On the left, Theresa (@light_the_path_creative) made a beautiful art journal spread using this fun alpha with our Puffy Rainbow Stickers, Love Is Paper Stack and Sunshine & Laughter Stamp! What a truly happy spread with an awesome message! On the right, Danielle (@danielledunlop21) created her title on a diagonal to create a really eye-catching page design! Love it, Danielle!

We just love seeing what you create with our paper stacks, and we love the geometric heart on the left, created using our Springtime Paper Stack by Gloriann (@scrapbooker_glory). We also love how she used our Wood Veneer Adventure Tags to embellish her squares! On the right, we love that Melody (@designbymelody) is using more of her time to record memories using our Monthly Kits! Such a beautiful and colorful page!

Our last two shares come from fabulous traveler’s notebook inserts! Easter Documented on a Layout with Daniela

What family traditions do you share during the Easter holiday? Whether egg dying or hunting, church service or a picnic in the park, you can document your best memories with our March kit and add-ons on a layout. That’s what design team member Daniela did, and we know you’ll love the new page that she is sharing with us today!

Hi friends! It’s Daniela here and I’m happy to be sharing a new layout with you today. I love Easter and we have an egg hunt in the garden each year. We hide chocolates and little gifts everywhere and the kids run around excitedly and put all the found treasures in their baskets. Each year, we hide all the goodies in different places and they are more difficult to find! It’s so much fun to watch the kids on their egg hunt. I used the March kit and add-ons to document last years’ hunt and this is how the layout turned out:

I chose all of the green and blue hues for this page because these are the main colors in my photo. The Go See Do Acetate Die Cuts are such cool embellishments, you can use them on colored cardstock, mixed media backgrounds, patterend paper or even on top of clusters like I did here. I also cut the tiny stars from one of the journaling tags from the March 2020 Kit— this way I have stars in different sizes and textures on my page.

The Easter Wood Veneers were perfect for my pictures and of course I also had to use the pretty Acrylic Easter Eggs . The ripped edge of the paper, color splatters, sequins and stars help to create a messy and playful style. I also used blue and green ink for the date so that it matches my color scheme perfectly.

I love decorating my pictures with embellishments, so I placed bits and pieces on top of the photos as well. The vibrant colors of Title Builder Vol. 4 Puffy Stickers are absolutely awesome. I adhered the green letters only on one side to the light blue paper layer, creating lots of dimension because the acrylic egg creates some space between the different papers.

I hope you’re all coping well with the current situation. Easter 2020 is coming for sure, so enjoy it with your loved ones, even though we all have to stay at home! Easter Greetings with Patricia Roebuck

Our Easter inspiration continues today with greeting cards from Patricia Roebuck! Patricia always comes up with such creative ways to use Elle’s Studio stamps, and we know you’ll love how she created card backgrounds using the new Title Builder Vol. 4 Stamp, topping her fabulous stamped designs with our March kit and add-ons! Let’s take a look:

Hello Elle Studio friends! Even though the past few weeks have been out of the ordinary for us all, I believe it is even more important for us to be creative and to give and share with others! Today’s post will combine both my love of creating and sharing with others using the Elle’s Studio March kit and extras to create Easter card ideas you can re-create and share as well!

Easter is one of my favorite holidays both in the meaning and in the adorable spring images. Elle’s Studio products, to me, capture both of these for the holidays! Starting with inspiration from the ‘Happy Easter’ wood veneer and Title Builder Vol. 4 Stamp, I wanted to create a meaningful card. I first stamped the sun image, then masked it with a stamped post-it note. With my sun covered and masked, I then masked off rows on my card panel to stamp rows of pink clouds.  

Once my card panel was filled with rows of clouds, I used the paint stroke image and inked it using both the peach and lavender ink to create long, stretched out clouds. This gave me the background to use the Black Typewriter Cardstock Alphabet Stickers to spell out “glory” over the sun’s rays. I finished the card panel with the Easter Wood Veneer, Tiny Shapes and Dots Puffy Stickers, and a circular kit die cut over the sun to add texture and focus to the sentiment.

This next card features playful, adorable spring images for the Easter season.  I used the same paint stroke image from the Title Builder Vol. 4 Stamp to create grass in peach ink at the base of my card panel and then create flower stems in purple ink. Just like the first card, the grass and stems I created gave me the background to use the Acrylic Easter Eggs as flower petals.

Similar to the first card, I was able to use the kit die cuts within the design.  On this card, I created ‘leaves’ on one of the flower stems using the “happy” and “springtime” die cuts. Doesn’t that bunny veneer from the Easter Wood Veneers fit perfectly within my Easter grass?! For added layers and color, both card fronts were layered with patterns from the Flourish 6 x 8.5 Paper Stack.

Easter Documented in Pockets with Melissa Mann

Our March 2020 kit and extras included several products perfect for recording Easter memories, including journaling tags, wood veneers, acrylic Easter eggs and more! Over the next few days, our talented design team members will be showing us how they are using our latest products to document Easter moments in such a beautiful way. First up, we have Melissa Mann who created a fun pocket page spread that we know you will love! Let’s take a look!

Welcome to the Elle’s Studio blog! This is Melissa here with you, sharing an Easter pocket page project using the leftover pieces of my March 2020 kit and add-ons!

I knew when I started this project that I wanted to create a page that highlighted the fun Easter Wood Veneers, Acrylic Easter Eggs, and the Go See Do Acetate Die Cuts! I decided that the best way to do this was to use a pocket page that had a bunch of mini pockets that I could slip one or two things into and them sew them all shut.

My first page for this spread was a picture that I printed at size 6″ x 8″ to fill the entire page protector. On the opposite side, I wanted to be able to highlight a couple of photos and also include some journaling. 

Using the 3″ x 4″ journaling cards that came in the March 2020 Kit, I was quickly able to create two inserts for the top pockets that I further embellished with stickers and stamping. 

I loved how quick and easily this project came together using the products from the March 2020 kit and add-ons! The longest part of this project was creating the “shaker” pockets that had to be stitched closed. But I did LOVE how that page looks layered against the page behind it with so much great texture and depth!
