Documenting Beautiful Moments with Tracey Fox

We love ALL of our new products released with the April 2020 kit and add-ons, but we have a special place in our hear for the Beautiful Day Die Cuts!

This big pack of spring die cuts includes scripted words, perfect for titles, labels, perfect for journaling and layering, and beautiful illustrations, like flowers, leaves and watering cans! Let’s take a look at how Tracey Fox used this new pack of die cuts to create a gorgeous layout!

There’s nothing more exciting than opening up a pack of die cuts to see what’s inside, and the Beautiful Day Die Cuts in the April release definitely do not disappoint! The set is full of bold script words, lovely labels, and pretty spring flowers that coordinate beautifully with the April kit and other extras. Together, these items are so versatile that I was able to create the title, embellishments, and a colorful photo mat for a layout using only the contents of the die cut pack!

For this layout, I chose to document the butterfly photo op murals we saw at Epcot during the International Festival of the Arts during our last visit to Walt Disney World. I knew the colorful photos we took would be complemented so well by the vibrant spring themes in the April release. To create the foundation for my page, I chose a patterned paper from the Flourish 6 x 8.5 Paper Stack and adhered pieces of it to the top and the bottom of a sheet of white cardstock. I used some Gelatos to blend additional color onto the page in between the patterned papers to create a foundation for my photos.

After I chose two vertical 4″ x 6″ photos to center on my layout, I had a great time using all of the label die cuts in the Beautiful Day Die Cuts to create a frame around them. I alternated the labels by color, size, and shape and tucked them under the photos to create a colorful border. To make them stretch further, I cut a lot of the labels in half so I could use them more than once!

To create the title for my layout, I used some of the awesome script words in the die cut pack to say, “love this beautiful moment.” I used foam adhesive to pop up a couple of the words so I could layer them up a bit at the top and bottom of my photos.

I typed my journaling onto a 4″ x 6″ tag from the April 2020 Kit and embellished it with a die cut arrow from the kit and two of the This Week Chipboard Stickers. I also stamped the brush stroke from the Title Builder Vol. 4 Stamp, because it filled the leftover space perfectly, and I liked how it added a little painterly detail on this page about the arts festival.

The floral die cuts in the Beautiful Day Die Cuts were perfect for embellishing this page! I chose to use only the small, colorful flowers so there wouldn’t be too many elements competing with the detailed photos, and I spread them across the page diagonally. I fussy cut some of the flowers out to remove the leaves to keep the flowers more uniform for this page, and I added a couple of the matching flowers from the Lovely Puffy Stickers.

I love how many die cuts I was able to use on this page and still have so many left from the pack for other projects! I can definitely see myself using them all very quickly! What are your favorite ways to use die cuts on your scrappy projects? I hope you’ll share what you make with these die cuts in the Elle’s Studio Facebook Group and use the #ellesstudio hashtag when you share on social media. Happy creating!
