November Kit Preview with Suzanna Lee

Hello there Elle’s Studio fans! It’s Suzanna here today to share with you a preview of the goodness you can create with the November kit and add ons being released tomorrow! Are you excited? Hopefully more excited than this miserable cat who loathes the donning of costumes and Christmas outfits!

Supplies | November 2022 Kit, November Printables, Star Grid Journaling Tags, November Labels, 2023 Month Die Cuts, Labels, Ledgers, and Tabs Die Cuts, Holiday Frame Stickers, White and Navy Jane Tile Alphabet Cardstock Stickers, Gold Heart and Star Stickers, Holiday Fun Stamp

Pocket tags aren’t just for pockets—they look fabulous on traditional layouts, too! I have used four of them here to create a fun header for this holiday layout: Two from the November Kit, another a November Printable, and the fourth is one of the Star Grid Journaling Tags.

The Star Grid Journaling Tags are great for journaling AND stamping. Fill them with stamped words or written journaling, or BOTH! I used a good number of Holiday Fun Stamp phrases and icons on this tag to create colorful word art that supports the theme of the layout. Also available this month are the 2023 Month Die Cuts, one of which I used here for the month. I’m saving the rest to use in my 2023 memory planner!

There are lots of goodies to talk about in this photo! They are all great but my favorite are the Labels, Ledgers, and Tabs Die Cuts. Come on, it’s me, Suzanna, lover of all things label! If there are labels, you know I’ll use them. There is a great selection of colors and loads of different shapes and sizes for all things label-like. Oh! And the Gold Heart and Star Stickers! They are great for adding a little shimmer and shine to your holiday creations. There’s a preview of the Holiday Frame Stickers here, too. I created a Thanksgiving layout using four of them. They are useful for so much more than just framing photos.

Here’s a final look at the whole layout:

Be sure to check out my Instagram account for a Reel that shows how I used the Holiday Fun Stamp with the Star Grid Journaling Tags to create the fun and festive journaling card shown here.

I hope you are as excited about this kit and add-ons release as I am, coming tomorrow at 8am Pacific time! Thanks for stopping in today!

Document December 2022 Prep with Michelle Flynn

Hi friends! I’m so excited to document the holidays with you this year! It’s Michelle here, and I have my lovely Document December kit and add-ons organized and my craft desk is looking as merry as can be! I’ll be working on my 2021 6 x 8-inch album and starting to prep a traveler’s notebook-sized album for this year so I thought I’d share how I’ve started prepping for 2022!

I really want to keep it simple this year. I want to have fun, but I also want to finish, so I’m setting realistic goals and focusing on what I want to document. I love documenting a few of my favorite things during the holidays so I started there.

The 4 x 6-inch joy, love and peace pocket tag was definitely the perfect opening for this layout. I trimmed it down to a 4 x 4-inches and added that sweet little tree die cut along with a die cut at the top and stamped using the December Grid Stamp.  I’ll use the 4 x 4-inch pocket below that for a photo. On the right side, I thought it would be so fun to use the new 4 x 6-inch six Pop-up Frame Metal Die sideways as a place to document my favorite things within each frame.

I backed it with the Twinkle Paper Stack. I used the amazing chipboard numbers from the Document December kit for each section, adding little embellishments to each pop-up flap. I used my favorite attacher metal die to finish it off. The last thing I did was make a little tag insert using the Christmas Die Cut Tags.

I added a few sentiments, and done! I definitely want achievable goals this year and the Document December kit gave me such a great place to start. I’m so excited to document the holidays with you and I can’t wait to see your inspiration and creativity shared with us this season!

Document December 2022 Prep with Sarah Kee

Hello Elle’s Studio friends! I’m so excited to get into full Document December mode. To be honest, in previous years, I have failed to stay on top of this project. All of the hustle and bustle of the season keeps my calendar full with minimal crafting time. The years where I have actually finished my Document December album have been when I have prepped pages beforehand. Today I’m sharing a few that I’ve already created!

This year I plan on creating traveler’s notebook sized pages. I plan on having page protectors, as well as out of the pocket pages to add texture and dimension to my album. Instead of prepping every single page, I started piecing together a couple of foundation pages that I can easily add photos and stories to later. I am hoping that these foundation pages will make it easier for me to stay caught up on those busier December days.

I also plan to incorporate more interactive elements to my pages. I usually get shaker elements done ahead of time in November, so come December, all I need to do is add photos and stories!

By prepping some of these pieces ahead of time, I’m hoping that it will make it easier for me to get my Document December album completed! I can’t wait to share more with you next month!

Document December 2022 Prep with Junell Kruzel

Happy Saturday, everyone! We are so excited to kick off a month of Document December preparations posts today with Junell Kruzel! For 10 days this month, we will feature ideas and tips from our design team to help you make the most out of your creative time to prepare for the merriest project of the year: Document December! Let’s hand it over to Junell to find out how she is getting ready!

Hello, Elle Studio friends! Confession time: I do not prep for Document December in the traditional sense. I am a “go with the flow” and “wherever the spirit takes me” type of scrapbooker. Planning and prepping pages zaps the fun out of it for me and I know for others as well. No rules, right?! But, there are some actions I take to make the Document December process quicker and easier during this busy time of year. Here are the steps I take that might help if you document like me.

First, I start by purging any product from last year that does not speak to me anymore. Too much stuff clutters my space and my mind. I offer it to friends or the kids in my life to create with themselves. Using only products I love leads to pages and an album I love.

Second, I lay out what I have left and then do two things: 1) I take everything out of the packaging! This is a great time saver when you only have a few precious minutes to scrap. 2) I place everything into categories: stamps, paper, tags, alphabets and numbers, stickers (puffy and cardstock), chipboard, and other items like ribbon and wood veneer. I always place like with like and then put it in a container. I’m using tiered trays from Target and 6 x 4-inch Iris cases.

The next thing I do is to look for inspiration and ideas for layouts I might like to create. I think about design, titles, and products. I look at old magazines, my saved ideas on Instagram, classes I’ve taken, and I even go back to Christmas blog posts from the year before. I keep a notebook to list and sketch ideas and also note where I originally saw the inspiration.

Another thing I do to prep for Document December is to look at my calendar and schedule blocks of time to sit down and create. Placing it on the calendar makes it official. For me, it’s usually Friday nights. Lastly, I stock up on essentials like photo paper, ink, page protectors, adhesive, and white cardstock—the not-so-fun stuff!

Hopefully, this list will help you prep for Document December, even if you’re not a prepper like me!

October Leftovers in Pockets with Aimee Mertell

Hello, Elle’s Studio friends! It’s Aimee here with you today showing you how I’m using my October kit and add-ons leftovers to create a fun pocket page. Let’s take a look at what I’ve done.

Supplies | October 2022 Kit, Chipboard House StickersCozy Tile Chipboard Stickers, Orange Puffy Alphabet Stickers

I wanted to create a fall-inspired pocket page, which was very easy to do with the October products! I didn’t have much left of my kit and add-ons to work with, so I kept the embellishments to a minimum on my photos and instead opted to create a fun title and journaling tag with the embellishments that remained.

I wanted to make a title using the Cozy Tile Chipboard Stickers but one of the only words left was “story” so I used some Orange Puffy Alphabet Stickers from my stash to make it read, “a fall story,” then embellished with the remaining die cut pieces from the October Kit.

Next, I wanted to get even more of the cute little houses from the Chipboard House Stickers used, so I decided I would fill in the gaps on this lined journaling tag with houses! They were a perfect fit for the spaces and I love how they really tie in the colors of the title card, too!

I had a lot of journaling tags left over for this particular pocket page and not a lot of filler, but that really allowed me to dig deeper into the stories I wanted to tell and get more words onto the page, which I typically have a hard time doing!

I hope you enjoyed walking through this simple and sweet pocket page with me and that it inspires you to create with your kit even if you don’t have a ton of it left! Happy creating!

October Digital Fun with Jen McMurtrey

Hello friends! It’s Jen today with a project featuring our naughty dog, Mildred. Being in the country with a large yard means our dogs are living their best lives every time they go outside. With the cooler, wetter weather, Mildred looks as if she’s rolled in mud each time plays in the field. It’s a good thing I love her!

Today’s project is an 8.5 x 11-inch layout that incorporates several elements from the October 2022 Kit and add-ons, patterned paper, and stamps with coordinating metal dies. I love using new products with those I already have on hand when creating. It is fun to mix and match items to create a perfectly coordinated project. Even better? Using digital files to stretch my supplies that much further!

Supplies | October 2022 Kit, October 2022 Printables, Thankful Die Cuts, Black Puffy Alphabet Stickers, Christmas Tiny Shapes and Dots Puffy Stickers, Thankful Paper Stack, The Tiniest Date Stamp, Large Jane Alphabet Stamp – Outline, Sincere Sentiments Best of Friends Add-on Stamp, Sincere Sentiments Best of Friends Add-on Metal Die, Sincere Sentiments Best of Friends Metal Die, Large Jane Alphabet Metal Die

The multi-colored striped 4 x 6-inch journaling tag in the October 2022 Kit is one of my favorites, but I wanted to use it on a larger scale. To do this, I created my own patterned paper by using the striped tag included with the October 2022 Printables. Using Photoshop, I created an 8.5 x 11-inch canvas and copied and pasted the tag multiple times until the entire page was full. This process was quite easy and lining up the striped pattern was a breeze!

After printing the paper, I used it on the left side of the background along with two papers from the Thankful Paper Stack. I decided to use a torn edge to give the page more texture and dimension.

To back the photo of naughty Mildred, I used patterned paper along with a 4 x 6-inch journaling tag. I used The Tiniest Date Stamp to add the date.

Next, I used what was left of the printed paper with the Outline Large Jane Alphabet Stamp and coordinating Large Jane Alphabet Metal Die to create a portion of the title. I then finished it with Black Puffy Alphabet Stickers and Thankful Die Cuts.

For the journaling, I again turned to the October 2022 Printables, using a green tag and cutting it into strips.

The flowers were next, which I created using another paper from the Thankful Paper Stack and the Sincere Sentiments Best of Friends Add-on Stamp, Best of Friends Add-on Metal Die, and Best of Friends Metal Die. To give the flowers more detail, I stamped and embossed them with clear embossing powder before cutting them out. I love the effect! Last, I used a few blue stickers from the Christmas Tiny Shapes and Dots Puffy Stickers around the flowers.

As you can see, I was able to use the October Kit and October Printables and items from my stash to create a unique project. Using digital files may seem overwhelming, but you’ll quickly get the hang of it through trial and error and lots of practice. That’s what I’ve done over the years.

Thank you for stopping by today, and I hope you’ve been inspired to create using those digital products! Remember to post your projects to social media using the hashtag #EllesStudio, or in our Facebook group so we don’t miss your creations!

#EllesStudio Spottings on Instagram

This month, the #EllesStudio hashtag on Instagram was filled with inspiring cards, layouts and pocket pages, and we’d love to share just a few with you today!

These two spooktacular projects had to come first! On the left, Kaye (@createwithkaye) was inspired by our own Marsha Farris to create this wonderful spread in her October notebook, and we love that she added our Halloween Cardstock Stickers and created her title with our Winifred Alphabet Stamp! What a fun way to document your Halloween movie night, Kaye! On the right, the large daisy on our Sincere Sentiments: Best of Friends Add-on Stamp took on a frightful appearance in this wonderful Halloween card by @delightfuldoings! What a great way to make this stamp do double-duty!

Let’s check out more autumn projects! On the left, Deanna (@enjoy.the.season) combined old and new products from her stash, including our Halloween Die Cuts, to document her little trick-or-treater! What a clean and wonderful design! On the right, Lacey (@laceyanndesigns) used one of our favorite staple metal dies in the shop, the My Heart Metal Die, to accent her photos with patterned paper hearts. If you have this die in your stash, why not re-create this fantastic page this week?

Another great autumn-themed project from Kim (@kjl571) caught our eye, and we love how she created the base of her spread using our Thankful Paper Stack patterns. What a great combination! On the right, Shannon (@onescrappymom71) made us feel the magic through our feed with this awesome layout that she created using our new Magical Memories collection! What a fantastically fun page, Shannon!

Just for sharing their projects, these six paper crafters will each win a $10 gift certificate to the shop! Thank you so much for posting your projects and using the #EllesStudio hashtag, ladies! Please email us at [email protected] to claim your prize!
