November Kit + The Merriest = Fa La La with Meg Gundlach

Hi scrappy friends, Meg here! You must have noticed that Elle has been just sleighing it (hahaha…hohoho?) with releases lately and if you’re anything like me, you gotta have it all. Today I wanted to share a few ways I combined the November 2021 kit and add-ons with The Merriest products to make a pocket spread worthy of the most wonderful time of the year.

Supplies | November 2021 Kit, The Details Printables, Holiday Fun Stickers, Red Cardstock Label Stickers, Moss Green Puffy Alphabet Stickers, Puffy Heart and Star Stickers, The Merriest Puffy Stickers, The Merriest Chipboard Stickers, The Merriest Vellum Die Cuts, Wonder Paper Stack, A Merry Moment Stamp, Title Builder Vol. 5 The Merriest Stamp

Recently I was pulling a spread from my 2015 album (coming later this month!) and I discovered an absolute treasure trove—a dozen unfinished pages from a particularly awesome Home for the Holidays adventure. I know there can be a huge ‘caught up’ mentality towards this type of project, but having these pages to work on right now was exactly what I needed. Thanks past me!

The left side of the spread includes our journey in some detail, as it looked a little different that year. Though this is technically a ‘travel’ page it was also the official start of our Christmas season and I was happy to lean into that. Since the page was already photo heavy, I decided scatter my embellishments across the pictures themselves and the holly jolly The Merriest products were absolutely perfect for that. I especially loved pairing the Title Builder Vol. 5 The Merriest Stamp with the coordinating The Merriest Chipboard Stickers to highlight bits of magic across the spread.

Quick tangent: I’m totally obsessed with Elle’s journal tags that are a series of stacked label sections, so I was thrilled to see them included in both the November Kit and The Details Printables this month! They add just the perfect spaces for little notes to 3×3 photos and the finished look is so polished and intentional. They are frequently the first tags I pull from any kit. Love them! Ok, back to the spread…

The right side of the spread covers the first few days at home, which are usually pretty chill. I took this opportunity to tell a couple small stories and really enjoy my supplies. Lots of layers. Lots of words and icons. I went big and bold and it’s all super fun.

I wanted to use The Merriest Vellum Die Cuts immediately after opening them; even though they are quite large, you can totally still use them in pockets! ‘Home’ was the perfect sentiment for this otherwise blah weather pic and I paired it with a banner from The Merriest Chipboard Stickers. However, when I was adding my final touches to the page I decided that I wanted a little more dimension… and this is where I may have gone off the rails a bit. The word ‘Home’ also appeared in the The Merriest Puffy Stickers and I liked the repetition since it was kind of the point of the spread. However, the puffy word was white and blended in too much. I pulled out a gold leafing pen I’ve owned for at least a decade, crossed my fingers, and went for it…and it WORKED!

Well now I was pretty much unstoppable. Though Elle already makes the most amazing gold puffy stickers, my spread was nearly done and I wanted to stick with what I had going. I identified my place abbreviations as my next gilded targets. Love the combination of the (still) Moss Green Puffy Alphabet Stickers and their now gold companions. It was exactly the touch this page needed.

The mix and match approach of the Title Builder series has endless options for pocket page uses and the addition of The Merriest (Vol. 5) pulls it into a whole new realm of holiday celebrations. Focusing on The Merriest products throughout this spread encouraged me to play more and enjoy the process—and isn’t that really the point of holiday memories? I can’t wait to see how you have paired these elements in your own projects!

A Fantastic Fall Foliage Mini with Guest Emma Kate

Today we get to welcome Emma Kate to the Elle’s Studio blog as our November guest designer! Emma’s creations are colorful and always textural, whether on a layout, or in a notebook or mini album, and she has a wonderful knack of adding layers of paper and mixed media to her project, while still keeping her photos and memories the focus! We think you’ll agree once you see the sweet mini that Emma has created for her first post today, and hope it inspires you to record your favorite fall memories before the holiday season arrives!

Hey Elle’s Studio friends, it’s a very excited Emma here to share my first project as guest designer. I must admit I had a tough time choosing what products to work with first as everything was so beautiful, but I finally settled on the Thankful paper stack as we had just been pumpkin picking and I knew the colours would coordinate perfectly!

Supplies |  Autumn Die Cuts, Home Sweet Home Cardstock Stickers, Jane Tile Alphabet Cardstock Stickers – Red, Moss Green Puffy Alphabet Stickers, Christmas Tiny Shapes and Dots Puffy Stickers, Thankful Paper Stack

I began by sketching out various leaf shapes to create templates for my mini-book pages, then I selected my favourite papers from the Thankful Paper Stack and fussy cut two of each leaf shape. I also covered the back of each leaf with the same patterned paper, paying close attention to the way each pattern would fall as I flicked through my mini-book.

Using three strands of colour-coordinating embroidery thread, I stitched around each leaf, taking more care than I usually would as the back of the stitching would be visible.

Next I added my photos & embellishments to each page, layering the Home Sweet Home Cardstock Stickers with the Christmas Tiny Shapes and Dots Puffy Stickers to create dimension and texture. For my title page I used a combination of the Moss Green Puffy Alphabet Stickers and red Jane Tile Alphabet Cardstock Stickers.

To finish, I used my hole reinforcement punch and the same papers to add that little extra detail to my pages, putting contrasting rings on each page so they stand out just a little.

The Thankful Paper Stack really is the perfect match for documenting those fall stories, I’m sure you will all agree!

Let me introduce myself! My name is Emma, “createwithemmakate” is my social media name and is where you can find all my scrapbooking ventures. I live in Bristol, in the United Kingdom, with my partner Joe and 5 year old little girl, Bea. During the day I work full-time as a Senior Science Technician but at night after I’ve put Bea to bed I like to relax by being creative.

Documenting my memories using paper crafts is such a joy for me, I feel like I have a picture book of Bea’s life which I absolutely love. Also eagerly awaiting the latest scrapbooking collection is always fun, knowing that you have more supplies than you will ever need but just cant resist that patterned paper that you don’t have or those super cute puffy stickers that you absolutely can’t live without. And the best thing about all of that, every scrapbooker understands the madness!

Find Emma’s creations on Instagram and Facebook until she shares her second project with us later this month!

Document December Prep Party with Melissa Mann

We are so excited to welcome you to our party: Document December Prep Party, that is! We have less than three weeks before December 1st, and our team is ready to inspire you to get prepared for one of our biggest projects of the year: Document December! This week we’re hearing from Melissa Mann, who has her album selected and some of the most important details in place! Let’s take a look at how Melissa is getting ready for December 1st using our Document December goodies!

This is Melissa here with you this morning and I’m sharing a few things that I’ve done to prep my album for documenting all of the holiday merriment in December!

I’m using a 6″x8″ album this year and am looking forward to jumping back in the pocket page style of memory keeping for December! I have created my first couple of pages in my album for this year using acetate and vellum. I have always loved the effect that both of these mediums have for documenting the holidays and will definitely be including them again in this year’s album.

To start my album, I cut out a semi-circle in pattern paper from the Wonder Paper Stack. I punched holes down the straight side and then cut out a bigger circle in the middle. I layered acetate between the two patterned papers and then adhered the December 2021 Cork on top. This allowed me to “peek” through to the next page.

For the next page, I simply cut out twelve 2 inch blocks of vellum and using the Large Star Jane Alphabet and Number Stamp, I stamped out “DECEMBER 2021” and slipped each block inside one of the pockets. I added the December calendar from the Document December 2021 Kit into the next pocket page and I plan to use that page to type out my reason for documenting the season on it.

I have also created filler journaling cards for my album. I really, really love holiday music and on two of the 4 x 6 inch journaling cards from the Document December 2021 Kit, I typed out the lyrics to two of my favorite Christmas carols. I layered stamping on these cards using several of the new holiday stamps: Holiday Shapes Stamp, Happy Holiday Stamp and Merry Christmas Stamp.

I also stamped a bunch of images and text using the Happy Holiday Stamp on one of the 3 x 4 inch journaling cards from the Document December 2021 Kit. I LOVE this look and plan on incorporating several of these into my album this year.

This year, I’m organizing all my supplies in a plastic container I found at Target for a few bucks. I love how I can store all of my products in this container and still see everything, plus it keeps it all together in one place!

How are you planning to document this year? Have you started to plan your album? We would love to see how you are prepping the new 2021 Elle’s Studio Document December goodies in  your album! Thanks for stopping by!

Join us next week to find out how another team member is getting prepared for Document December, and until then, join us in our Facebook Group to share YOUR ideas, tips and inspiration for this joyful project!

A Christmas Tree Technique with Jackie Ashton

Hi! It’s Jackie here with a new layout created using November 2021 kit and add-ons, and most specifically, the festive Wonder Paper Stack. I wanted to show how you can make a layout using a simple handmade template—nothing fancy, just a pencil, ruler and scissors!

Supplies | November 2021 KitNovember Labels, Red Cardstock Label Stickers, White Parker Alphabet Cardstock Stickers, Puffy Heart and Star Stickers, Gold Tiny Shapes and Dots Puffy Stickers, Wonder Paper Stack, Monthly Numbers Stamp, A Merry Moment Stamp

It was so easy to make the templates. I simply grabbed a piece of scrap cardstock and draw a triangular tree shape in different sizes and cut out, then I selected my patterned papers from Wonder Paper Stack and used the templates to cut the shapes out. It was so easy as that!

Before adding the trees to my layout, I distressed the edges to give them added texture. Next, I machined stitched my tree one at time directly onto the cardstock, finishing each tree with a Gold Tiny Shapes and Dots Puffy Sticker at the top.

I added red to my layout to pick up the red bow from my photograph using patterned papers from the Wonder Paper Stack, November Labels, and Puffy Heart and Star Stickers.

I coloured the White Parker Alphabet Cardstock Stickers with green ink, so that they didn’t disappear on my white background.

To finish off my layout, I added stamped stars from the A Merry Moment Stamp and stamped the date in a few places using Monthly Numbers Stamp.

I had fun putting this layout together, and I hope you try the technique of making a basic template to use on your projects. I would love to see what you create over in our Elle’s Studio Facebook Group or on Instagram using the hashtag #EllesStudio.

Sketch Day with Sarah Kee

Hello, everyone! It’s me, Sarah on the blog, and today I wanted to share the latest Elle’s Studio sketch with all of you. I was inspired to create a 12 x 12 inch layout using pieces from my November 2021 kit and add-ons. More specifically, I wanted to focus on working with the Title Builder: The Merriest products!

First up, here’s the sketch I used:

Here’s what I came up with:

Supplies | November 2021 Kit, The Merriest Vellum Die Cuts, Holiday Fun Stickers, Red Cardstock Label Stickers, The Merriest Chipboard Stickers, Puffy Heart and Star Stickers, The Merriest Puffy Stickers, Wonder Paper StackA Merry Moment Stamp, Title Builder Vol. 5 The Merriest Stamp (sold out, but click notify me on the product page!), Jane Tile Alphabet Cardstock Stickers – Gray, Home Sewn Stitches Stamp

For starters, I wanted to create a fun, stamped background for this layout. I used the heart from the Title Builder Vol. 5 The Merriest Stamp and the star clusters from the A Merry Moment Stamp. I repeatedly stamped in gray ink and red ink onto the white cardstock.

I followed the sketch almost exactly by layering and placing my pattered papers and photos in their designated spots. I especially love that this sketch uses two photos; anything to get those photos documented is a plus, right?!

For my title, I really wanted to incorporate the latest Title Builder products. I wanted to make my title stand out more, so I backed the “Christmas” vellum from The Merriest Vellum Die Cuts with one of the red patterned papers from the Wonder Paper Stack.

I also used the black “bring on the” banner from The Merriest Chipboard Stickers to add dimension to my title, and I love the look of it!

For the word “magic”, I used the Title Builder Vol. 5 The Merriest Stamp and added it below “Christmas” to complete my title. For my journaling, I used various phrases/sentiments from the Holiday Fun Stickers and stamps from both the The Merriest Stamp and the A Merry Moment Stamp.

I couldn’t resist creating cute little holly leaves and berries, so I again used the The Merriest Stamp. The three little circles on the stamp set create the berries. The holly leaves come in either an outline form or a shadow form. For my layout, I used the outline of the holly leaf. I layered them on top of Red Cardstock Label Stickers and added some fun puffy hearts from the Puffy Heart and Star Stickers.

Last, but not least, to add more dimension to my layout, I created embellishment clusters using various label stickers, pieces from The Merriest Chipboard Stickers, and vellum hearts from The Merriest Vellum Die Cuts.

That’s it for today! What’d you think? I had a blast using this sketch coupled with all of these fun new holiday products, and I think you will too! We’d love to see your projects using it, so have at it! Join us, and share your projects with us in our Elle’s Studio Facebook Group or on Instagram using the hashtag #EllesStudio.

As always, thanks for reading and letting me share my work here. It’s always a pleasure to be making pretty things with Elle’s Studio products!

Documenting a Favorite Recipe with Junell Kruzel

Hello, Elle’s Studio friends! It’s Junell on the blog today sharing my latest layout with you using the November 2021 kit and add-ons. This month’s kit is so versatile. There are pieces with a fall vibe you can use now and also pieces you can save and use for your Document December project!

Supplies | November 2021 KitHoliday Fun Stickers, Jane Tile Alphabet Cardstock Stickers – RedPuffy Heart and Star Stickers, Magical Acetate Circles, Wonder Paper Stack, A Merry Moment Stamp, Small Tile Alphabet Stamp

For this project, I leaned towards the fall options in the November Kit to record and share my favorite Autumn Chopped Salad recipe and pictures. It’s so delicious and perfect for this time of year!

I printed out my pictures and knew I wanted to use the tags that looked like recipe cards and then also picked out some dark and light green papers from the Wonder Paper Stack. I played around with the placement and decided to put the pictures and cards on an angle to give it some interest.

I wrote out the recipe and some journaling using my own handwriting because I wanted it to look like the old fashioned recipe cards our grandmothers used.

On the November Kit “The Details” tag, I added specific instructions to make the salad super yummy!

I added the title using the red Jane Tile Alphabet Cardstock Stickers and I just love how they match the photo of the cranberries! I also used the Small Tile Alphabet Stamp for the title.

I then spent some time embellishing using the Magical Acetate Circles first, stapling them down and then added Puffy Heart and Star Stickers. I made sure to use red ones and placed them where they would create a visual triangle. I also used die cuts from the November Kit and the Holiday Fun Stickers.

I’m so glad I have this recipe recorded now! Have fun using the November 2021 Kit and all of the extras and let me know if you use it to record any of your own special recipes! Thanks for reading!

Clean and Simple Using October Kit Leftovers with Patricia Roebuck

Hello! Today’s post will be about using the leftover tags and die cuts from the October 2021 monthly kit and add-ons to create a simple and clean design on a layout!

Supplies | October 2021 Kit, Home Sweet Home Cardstock Stickers, Autumn Heart and Star Acetate Stickers, Autumn Tab Stamp, Everyday Tabs Metal Die

I was first inspired by the Autumn Tab Stamp and Everyday Tabs Metal Die. Using two leftover tags from the October 2021 Kit and the Everyday Tabs Metal Die, I cut four die cuts. Then I used the Autumn Tab Stamp to add stamping directly to the layout, creating fun borders on left and right with a photo in the center.

Using another October Kit tag, I detail cut the “123” out to layer over the left border.

To create more layering, I use an October kit die cut and a Home Sweet Home Stickers to layer at the top.

The top part of the 123 tag was added at the bottom to go along with my typed journaling to finish my layout. I added an Autumn Heart Acetate Sticker to cluster and create a visual triangle.

I hope using the tags and dies inspire you to create an eye-catching, simple and clean design on your next layout!
