A Christmas Tree Technique with Jackie Ashton

Hi! It’s Jackie here with a new layout created using November 2021 kit and add-ons, and most specifically, the festive Wonder Paper Stack. I wanted to show how you can make a layout using a simple handmade template—nothing fancy, just a pencil, ruler and scissors!

Supplies | November 2021 KitNovember Labels, Red Cardstock Label Stickers, White Parker Alphabet Cardstock Stickers, Puffy Heart and Star Stickers, Gold Tiny Shapes and Dots Puffy Stickers, Wonder Paper Stack, Monthly Numbers Stamp, A Merry Moment Stamp

It was so easy to make the templates. I simply grabbed a piece of scrap cardstock and draw a triangular tree shape in different sizes and cut out, then I selected my patterned papers from Wonder Paper Stack and used the templates to cut the shapes out. It was so easy as that!

Before adding the trees to my layout, I distressed the edges to give them added texture. Next, I machined stitched my tree one at time directly onto the cardstock, finishing each tree with a Gold Tiny Shapes and Dots Puffy Sticker at the top.

I added red to my layout to pick up the red bow from my photograph using patterned papers from the Wonder Paper Stack, November Labels, and Puffy Heart and Star Stickers.

I coloured the White Parker Alphabet Cardstock Stickers with green ink, so that they didn’t disappear on my white background.

To finish off my layout, I added stamped stars from the A Merry Moment Stamp and stamped the date in a few places using Monthly Numbers Stamp.

I had fun putting this layout together, and I hope you try the technique of making a basic template to use on your projects. I would love to see what you create over in our Elle’s Studio Facebook Group or on Instagram using the hashtag #EllesStudio.
