Cheer in a Memory Planner with Wei Wei Wang

Hello crafty friends! It’s Wei Wei here. I am thrilled to be sharing my newest layouts in my memory planner. I love that I can record the big and little stories of my family’s life. This week I am recording the start of October here in Taiwan, little plants, coffee, and family fun. I’m going to show how to come up with my planner with Elle’s Studio November kit and extras, so check out how easy it is below!

I began the layout by stamping the month with the Large Star Jane Alphabet Stamp on the Grid Journaling Tags. I just LOVE this stamp! It is such fun and works well with so many different types of projects. Then, I stamped the dates using the Mini Dated Extras Stamp and gray Date Label Cardstock Sticker. The rad banner from The Merriest Chipboard Stickers with a stamped phrase made my title more interesting.

The photos were layered with the journaling tags from the November 2021 Kit. I arranged them on the page, according to the date they were taken. The little circle Monthly Numbers Stamp are so adorable and perfect for marking the date.

Adding a flip-up is a good way to save space for documentation, keeping the layout clean and clear. I created the flip-up with tags from the November 2021 Kit.

On the right side, I adhered my photos in a grid design.

For embellishment, I added the Holiday Fun Stickers, Red Cardstock Label Stickers, Puffy Heart and Star Stickers, and The Merriest Vellum Die Cut to my layout. These adorable stickers and die cuts were perfect for highlighting the layouts.

I also added the A Merry Moment Stamp and red Jane Tile Alphabet Cardstock Stickers on the blank space for additional journaling.

I always love using tags on my projects. I find they’re a great way to get a design started and the perfect place to house embellishment, journaling and/or photo.

For my layout, I made a tag insert using the Holiday Tags Metal Die, Monthly Highlights Paper Stack and pink Grid Journaling Tag as a space for the subtitle and a cluster of embellishments. It also helped balance all that photos and embellishments because the tones and colors of both sides of my planner were different.

I stamped with the Title Builder Vol. 5 The Merriest Stamp and added a few embellishments by adding the black Full of Joy Chipboard Sticker, Magical Acetate Circle and the little Gold Tiny Shapes and Dots Puffy Stickers.

I also created a little tag with Nesting Tags Metal Die and stamped with the Noted Vol. 3 Stamp.

For the back side, I added a title trimmed from the Monthly Highlights Paper Stack and stamped with A Merry Moment Stamp, Home Sewn Stitches Stamp as well as the Weekend Stamp.

Document December Prep Party Week Two with Melissa Mann

Welcome back to our Document December Prep Party for week two! Have you started preparing for our big Document December project yet? If not, today’s post by Melissa Mann will have you itching to start! Let’s take a look at the amazing pages that Melissa has prepped!

Good morning! This is Melissa here with you again with some more prep work that I’ve done for my Document December album. I cannot believe that November is almost over and before we know it, it will be time to start filling our albums up with December memories!

One of the new products that Elle’s Studio released in the Document December products was an awesome giant oversized tag die that you can layer some cut-out words on: the Holiday Tags Metal Die. I cut my tag out on patterned paper from the Wonder Paper Stack. I cut out the word “MERRY” in the middle of the tag and then cut a second tag out using a piece of solid-colored paper from the Cool Solids Paper Stack. I layered these together and then stitched The Merriest Vellum Word Die Cut “CHRISTMAS” on top with my sewing machine. I plan on gluing a picture on the back side of the tag during the month of December. This made a fun addition to my album that isn’t a pocket page!

I also created a couple more 3 x 4 inch filler cards using other metal dies available in the shop. I used the Happy Holidays Metal Die and a piece of vellum to die cut this out, creating a see-through element in my album.

I used one of the 3 x 4 inch Star Journaling Tags and the Holiday Shapes Metal Die to cut the star in the middle of the tag, then backed this with a patterned paper from the Wonder Paper Stack. I finished off the tag with the “joyful” Holiday Magic Gold Puffy Sticker across the top.

Another fun addition I quickly created was the 3 x 8 inch strip of patterned paper cut from the Wonder Paper Stack. I chose four of the Magical Acetate Circles from the November release and stitched them down with my sewing machine, then placed a small sticker sentiment from the Document December Kit Phrase Sticker Sheet at the bottom. I slipped this inside a 3 x 8 inch page protector. Again, on the back of this, I plan on adding a 3 x 8 inch photo in December, adding another fun and different sized element in my album.

A Merry, Early Christmas Moment with Suzanna Lee

There are a lot of Merry moments ahead and what better way to record those moments than with the latest (and greatest!) stamp set in the shop, A Merry Moment! Today I’m sharing several fun ways to incorporate stamping into your memory keeping featuring this fantastic stamp set. While I’m using it for a “Christmas” layout, you will understand the quotations once you read the journaling, it’s really suitable for any occasion with phrases such as “favorite,” “love this,” and “good times.”

The three circular stamps with phrases were the perfect compliment to both the Magical Acetate Circles and the ornaments with my reflection that comprise the large, letter sized photo background of this layout. I simply stamped them on white cardstock then cut them out with the appropriately-sized circle punches. They really stand out against the tree branch lit background, don’t you think? For a little added color, I stamped one of the simple phrase stamps, “Merry Moment,” underneath “Love This” to create a longer sentiment.

Layering the stamps as I did above with the phrases can also be done by combining the star sprinkles with the sentiment or phrase as well. As with any stamp, embossing adds a sparkly touch too! Also seen in the photo below is using a stamped image directly on your photo. I was super brave and embossed the backdrop of stars with gold embossing powder, creating a subtle yet sparkly band that spans the width of the page, mimicking the sparkle of the tree lights.

Did you add the White Parker Alphabet Cardstock Stickers to your cart? If you didn’t, you definitely need to! They are the perfect canvas for these stamps and I added a little star shine as I’ve done for part of my title using the starry background stamp with a VersaFine red ink.

While I was working the circles as I have done as a go-to design for a number of layouts, both with a large photo or with multiple circular photos, the Monthly Numbers Stamp is also circular and the perfect compliment to the round orbs on this layout featuring a WAY too early Christmas tree! And, of course, the circular stickers in the Holiday Fun Stickers fit perfectly in here, too!

Sketch Day Two Ways with Jennie McGarvey & Nathalie Leonelli

Happy sketch day! Today we’ve invited two different team members—Nathalie Leonelli and Jennie McGarvey, to share their takes on this week’s sketch using our newest November 2021 kit and add-ons! First, let’s take a look at the sketch:

Hello scrappy friends, it’s Nathalie and I’m here to share my interpretation of this great sketch using several of the November stamps, add-ons and more!

The first thing I noticed with the sketch was the large title on the right and the multiple photos on the left which, in my mind, looked perfect for a traveler’s notebook format.

For the big title, I created an ombré effect using three sheets from the Warm Solids Paper Stack, my Large Jane Alphabet Stamps and matching Metal Die. I love the result on the dark green paper from the Wonder Paper Stack.

For the left page, I’ve adapted the sketch to my needs and my subject, but I kept the multiple square photos and the labels. This looser approach allowed me to layer more elements.

I added my favorite circle stamps from both A Merry Moment Stamp and Monthly Numbers Stamp not only to bring the light pink on this side of the spread but also to create a contrasting visual triangle on the page.

I love working with sketches, and I hope my project inspires you to give this one a try. I can not wait to see what Jennie has created with it!

Hello! It’s Jennie McGarvey and I’m here with a take on this fantastic sketch. If you recall, I’ve mentioned before that sketches intimidate me. For some reason, that was not at all the case with this great sketch. I think it might be that I was very inspired, nearly immediately, by the fact that I could turn this one into a standard size traveler’s notebook layout!

Now that you’ve seen the sketch and my layout, can you see what I mean? I knew I could slice this one and make two separate pages and they are perfect together and great on their own. What a win!

The left-hand side holds the ever-important photos and the sort of sub-title. I knew that I didn’t want to make the sub-title with the actual title, the Fa La La Acrylic, so I simply added it on the left using the November Labels. I know it’s pretty unusual, but it worked perfectly this way with the sketch.

The Puffy Heart and Star Stickers are basically one of my favorite Elle’s Studio products ever. I LOVE the shapes and that there is an outline sticker and the inside shape. The colors are so versatile, too. They are the perfect accent for the very bold FA LA LA title, without competing with it at all.

Speaking of the title, isn’t that Fa La La Acrylic beautiful? I absolutely love the size and how playful and neutral it is. You can use it in so many different ways in your holiday layouts!

Mixing Fall and Holiday Product with Shannon Dombkowski

Hi there, Elle’s Studio friends! This is Shannon here showing you how I mixed fall product and holiday product on a pocket page with photos from September. I have to admit, it’s late October when I’m making this page and I’m still riding the wave of enjoying fall. So, when the Elle’s Studio November kit + extras landed on my doorstep, I challenged myself to think outside the box with some of the products that might have a more Christmas edge to them and see how I could use them on a page with a fall feel.

My first step was to decide what colors to use. I went heavy with the green and accented it with blue and grey. I cut the grey and white star 4 x 6 inch tag from the November 2021 Kit in half to use as a title card for my page. The stars definitely have a twinkling Christmas feel to them, but they don’t feel that way on a page with earth tones instead of Christmas colors!

The Magical Acetate Circles include holiday sayings, but there are a few that have more generic phrases. Of course, the one with “favorite” on it works in the center of my page since this is about me and my husband. I never know how to attach acetate without adhesive showing through so I typically opt to use a tiny attacher. You could probably stitch it too!

Did I use a Christmas phrase on a fall page? You bet I did! The “oh, what fun” die cut from the November 2021 Kit is actually the reason that I included blue on my page. I challenged myself to make it work, so I added a few more blue die cuts and labels around the page.

It’s always fun to give myself a little challenge to keep my creative brain fresh. I won’t say that I didn’t struggle and try a few different things here and there, but it all worked out well in the end. I highly suggest challenging yourself to do something a little outside of your comfort zone, too!

November Design Team Inspiration: Volume Two

We love our new November 2021 kit and add-ons so much, but even more, we love seeing how our design team is using them to record their sweetest moments from fall and into the holiday season.
