September #EllesStudio Spottings on Instagram!

Wow! Our #EllesStudio hashtag was really filled with amazing projects this month. We had a hard time selecting, but we loved the way that these six papercrafters used our products:

First, check out this amazing stamped background by Diane (@snapshotsdocumented), created with our Grateful Stamp! We also loved the way that she used that numbered tag from our September Kit to hold her journaling and the Navy Acetate Alphabet to add her BIG title. What an awesome page, Diane! On the right, these pockets by April (@secondstarjournal) included the perfect mix of tags from our August Kit. We loved the way that it balanced with her awesome photos on the right side of this spread. Head to her feed to see the entire project! Thanks for posting, Wende!

We are excited about Halloween around here, and it looks like Wende (@wendescraps) is, too! Wende created these amazing Halloween advent tags using our Large Jane Number Metal Die, and we just LOVE how they turned out! On the right, we just love this colorful traveler’s notebook spread created by Nicole (@colebys1981) that highlights our September Cut Files, September Labels and Stanley Jr. Alphabet Stamp! What an awesome project!

We have another foodie-themed project here on the left created by Beatriz (@beatrizs1974) using our September Kit! We love the stamped hearts that Beatriz added using our My Heart Stamp and the patterns from our Autumn Days Paper Stack! Last, but not least, we have this pretty notebook page from Sarah (@sarahsscrappingspace). We love how she painted her Hello Wood Veneer to use for her title and topped her Love You Lots Metal Die cut with the phrase from our Be Happy Stickers. What a pretty page!

Just for sharing their projects, these six paper crafters will each win a $10 gift certificate to the shop! Thank you so much for posting your projects and using the #EllesStudio hashtag, ladies! Please email us at info@shopellesstudio.com to claim your prize!

Autumn Layers with Daniela

Our newest paper stack in our shop is the Autumn Days 6 x 8.5 inch Paper Stack! Full of rich colors and textural patterns, this new paper stack with shine in your autumn projects. Let’s take a look at how design team member Daniela used Autumn Days in lots of layers on a new layout!

Hi friends! It’s Daniela here with you today and I’m happy to be sharing a new layout with you today. I’m totally crazy about the Autumn Days Paper Stack! I love the warm colors and beautiful patterns and you can combine them in so many different ways. Looking at those papers gives me all the cozy fall vibes and makes me want to grab a cup of tea and snuggle up. I used some of the papers to document a picture of my son taking a nap on the couch. Let’s take a look:

Supplies | September 2020 Kit, September Labels, Cozy Chipboard StickersChristmas Tiny Shapes and Dots Puffy Stickers, Home Wood VeneerAutumn Days 6 x 8.5 inch Paper StackMy Heart StampMini Dated Extras Stamp

I wanted to use the papers in different ways, so I built a big display in the center of my page to place my picture on. The paper in grid design is the first layer and I rolled up the edges before attaching it to the cardstock, adding dimension to the project. The next layer is the yellow striped paper with distressed edges. Then I cut two paper stripes from the woodgrain patterned paper and the one with the beautiful branches and leafs. I cut long fringes in these stripes, adding even more dimension and a third way of using paper. Finally, I used the crimson paper, tearing the bottom edge, as a layer behind my picture.

After finishing my big paper display, I added some embellishments here and there. I cut hearts from one of the tags included in the September Kit and also added the pretty Christmas Tiny Shapes and Dots Puffy Stickers. The big Home Wood Veneer was the perfect title for my page and I think that it goes with the papers just perfectly.

I can’t do any layouts without adding color splashes, so of course I added some to this page, too. Some Cozy Chipboard Stickers and and sewing yarn add two more textures, so there are lots of different details to discover. I also added paper stripes tot he upper and lower edges of the page which build a kind of frame and hold everything together.

I hope you like how I used the Autumn Days 6 x 8.5 inch Paper Stack. Thanks so much for stopping by today and don’t forget to share what you create using the hashtag #ellesstudio on Instagram!

Have fun using your kit!

Documenting Food Fun With Digitals and Candace Perkins

Hello Elle’s Studio friends! It’s Candace here with you to share a fun project using the September Cut Files. I love using digital cut files and printables to expand on my Elle’s Studio goodies and create even more projects. There are so many fun ways to customize the products to fit just what you need. Take a look at how I customized the September Cut Files to match a project about my little guy cooking a family meal.

Supplies |September 2020 KitSeptember Cut Files, Stitched Heart Wood Veneers, Autumn Days 6 x 8.5 Inch Paper Stack, Cozy Chipboard

To start the layout I imported the silverware cut file into Silhouette Studio to be cut on the base of my layout. I reduced the size of the cut file and positioned it to be on the lower right hand corner of the layout. After cutting out the file from white cardstock, I backed the open space with frosted vellum and created an embellishment cluster at the base. To finish off this side of the layout I typed my journaling on a journaling tag and backed a cute photo of my guy with woodgrain patterned paper.

On the right side of the layout, I took the cut pieces from the left side of the layout and created another embellishment cluster with a Stitched Heart Wood Veneer and Cozy Chipboard sentiment.  To add a bit of color to the right side of the layout, I backed one of the photos with red patterned paper.  I love the mix of color and black and white photos to add contrast and interest to the layout.

This was such a fun layout to put together and I love the interest and design that the cut files add to go with the theme of the layout. I love that I was able to customize the size to fit a 6″ x 8″ spread and use both parts of the cut file.  What will you do with the fun September Cut Files? How will you customize them to fit your spreads? We would love to see! Share your project on Instagram using the hashtag #EllesStudio or in our Facebook Group!

Have a beautiful day!

Made Mini with Melissa Mann

We love mini albums, and our monthly kit is perfect for creating them! Let’s take a look at a special mini that design team member Melissa Mann created to highlight her special little niece. We just love the beautiful touches that she added with our add-ons to make it truly special!

Hello! It’s Melissa, and I’m happy to be on the blog again with you all this today to share a new mini book I made using my September Kit and add-ons.

Supplies | September 2020 Kit, September LabelsThis is Us Stickers, Cozy ChipboardAutumn Rainbow Puffy Stickers, Navy Acetate AlphabetAutumn Days 6 x 8.5 Inch Paper Stack, Large Jane Alphabet Stamp — Outline, My Heart StampMy Heart Metal Die

I love creating mini books since there are so many different ways to personalize and document a series of photos. I really wanted to create something that had pockets and came up with the idea to create a library card pocket mini album.

The first thing I did was create six library pockets using kraft cardstock. I found a template online, printed it out and traced six pockets before cutting them out. I used my sewing machine to stitch them together. Once the pockets were all finished, I took two pockets and glued them back to back with my glue gun. This created a total of 3 double pocket pages.

I adhered patterned paper from the Autumn Days Paper Stack to the front of each pocket. I also chose a variety of 3″ x 4″ journaling tags from the September Kit and cut them down to layer on top of the patterned paper. These were all further embellished with stickers, the Navy Acetate Alphabet, and some stamped images that I created with the My Heart Stamp and cut out with the corresponding My Heart Metal Die

I chose photos of my niece that my brother took on a recent vacation to California, printed them out and adhered either a photo or patterned paper to the back of each photo. On one of the tags from the September Kit, I stamped out the phrase “I LUV OMA” (the name my niece gave to my mom) with the outline Large Jane Alphabet Stamp.

My intention is to have my niece color this page before I gift this mini book to my mother. There are also some plain tags that I slipped into the pockets that I’m going to give Sage to color as well!

If you haven’t made a mini album in a while, I encourage you to give it a try! They are so much fun and can be about anything! I hope you all have enjoyed your September kit and add-ons as much as I did this month!

Product Prompts with Jess Forster

Happy last day of September, friends! Autumn has arrived in Toronto, and lately I find myself spending lots of time indoors, trying to get warm & cozy under blankets. The September kit and add-ons have so many lovely products to help you document your fall stories. Today I am excited to share a recent pocket page layout that I created about a memorable moment this season. Have a look!

Supplies | September 2020 Kit, Cozy Chipboard, Puffy Heart Stickers, Autumn Days 6 x 8.5 Inch Paper Stack

In this 6″ x 8″ double page layout, I documented a recent conversation with my son Sam. I loved the 3″ x 4” journaling tag with the prompt, “this made me smile” from the September Kit and I  was inspired to write about a heart warming moment. Snuggling under the covers in the afternoon, Sam crawled into bed and said, “Mama, you and me are like peanut butter on bread.” This is a huge compliment as I will often come down the stairs to finding Sam eating straight out of the peanut butter jar. Ha!

After writing about the conversation, I printed out on the 3″ x 4″ journaling tag. I document that short story  and paired it with a 4″ x 6″ selfie of Sam and I under the covers. I loved the “this is us” chipboard piece from the Cozy Chipboard and embellished my photo.

From there, I decided to write a longer story about other things that are making me smile. I created a 5″ x 7″ canvas in Photoshop Elements and typed up my thoughts. I printed out my journaling and placed it in on the teal paper from the Autumn Days Paper Stack. On top of the canvas, I used the word “Cozy” from the Cozy Chipboard to create a bold title. Lastly, I placed teal and grey puffy heart stickers around the pocket page to create visual interest.

Sometimes all it takes is one monthly kit tag to spark a story or idea to create a traditional or pocket page layout. I have so much fun opening up the packages and seeing what products inspire me. With all the beautiful tags in the September Kit, I have no doubt you can document fall stories, too! Thanks for looking!

Printable Power with Amanda-jayne Baldwin

Our monthly printables coordinate with our exclusive kits to help you stretch your supplies, but you can also use them on their own to create beautiful things, as design team member Amanda-jayne Baldwin is ready to show us today! She’s created not one, or two, but THREE different projects using this month’s Grateful for This Printables only! Let’s take a look at today’s project!

Hi, friends! Welcome back to the Elle’s Studio blog for more September kit and add-on inspiration! It’s Amanda here, and today I am shining the product spotlight on our amazing Grateful for This Printables. The monthly printables offered by Elle’s Studio are so incredibly versatile, and offer a lifetime of creative uses and possibilities! I can’t get enough of them, but enough chatter, here’s what I’ve created with them:

Supplies | Grateful for This Printables, Wood Veneer Circles

When using the monthly printables, I always look for journaling tags that would make for a great patterned paper background, and smaller details that can be fussy cut to create my own embellishments.  That’s exactly how I created this sweet fall-themed page!

I trimmed my white cardstock down to 8.5″ x 11″ so it would fit into my home printer, selected journaling tag #04 and printed it as a full size photograph. Voila! Instant patterned paper to scrapbook and craft with! Such a fantastic way to maximize the printables to work for more than just pocket page creating! The plaid pattern design in the fall colors is really “beauti-fall” too!

While I had my home computer and printer on, I proceeded to print off a mix of different sized journaling tags: in particular, lots of journaling tag #05. I did this so that I would have a variety of hearts for my embellishments. I used journaling tag numbers 01 and 03 from the Grateful for This Printables to back my sweet boy’s photo with, and then for a bit of texture and interest, I added some torn tissue paper scraps to the layers as well.

I foam mounted my layered photograph directly onto my freshly printed patterned paper, and then started on fussy cutting out all the hearts from journaling tag #05. The variance in sizes really does create the illusion of having more ephemera pieces—another great way to get more from your printables!

I positioned the hearts across the top of the plaid trim, and tucked some beneath, in and on my photo cluster. I was mindful to ‘hide’ some of the printed words to give the illusion of more hearts. This also aided in making more of a focal point, and subtitle, of the hearts where the printed words were still visible.

Across the base of page, I also added a row of hearts on the edge of the plaid trim. This time, I cut some of the hearts in half to create the look of them being tucked under the plaid pattern paper, while others I glued over the plaid edge. The combination of ‘under and over’ creates interest and helps to anchor my overall page design. I fussy cut the word “love” from journaling tag #05, and foam mounted it over the large gray heart to form my layout title. Simple, but so effective! For finishing touches, I added a couple of typewriter sentiments, a few silver sequins and those fabulous Wood Veneer Circles. The veneers add warmth and balance to my page, and well, they just look super cool!

Simple, beautiful creating with our gorgeous September Grateful for This Printables! If you’re thinking that this was just a one-off, I was actually so impressed with this month’s printables that I used them to create ALL my Elle’s Studio projects this month! Here’s a little more inspiration to close with:

Good Times in Color with Katarina Prevandarova

A new paper stack brings with it loads of possibilities in your projects, and we love our newest Autumn Days Paper Stack, full of fall colors and patterns! Today design team member Katarina Prevandarova is showing how she used our newest paper stack in such a creative and colorful way! Let’s take a look!

Hi friends, it’s Katarina here, and today I am sharing a colorful and fun new layout I created using the amazing September kit and add-ons

Supplies | September 2020 Kit, This Is Us Stickers, Cozy Chipboard Stickers
Autumn Days 6 x 8.5 Inch Paper Stack, My Heart Stamp

This month I have so many favorite products! One of them is definitely the new Autumn Days 6 x 8.5 Inch Paper Stack. It is full of beautiful colors and patterns and I was immediately inspired by the colorful striped pattern. I first cut the paper into stripes by color and then halved each stripe. Then I used one part in the bottom of the layout and one in the top part. And here comes the fun. I turned the upper stripes to the white side and rolled them to show the color from behind.

I used watercolor to paint all the shades used in the paper stripes to make them stand out a bit more. To each of the rolled papers, I added a matching sticker from the This Is Us Stickers. I backed my photo with a journaling tag from the September Kit that I also used as my title and one of the patterned papers from the Autumn Days Paper Stack.

To connect the upper and lower part of the layout and my photo I used two horizontal stripes of the wood grain paper. I embellished my photo with a bunch of beautiful circle Cozy Chipboard Stickers and a die cut from the September Kit

Then I went a little fussy cutting crazy. I took the pretty paper from the Autumn Days paper stack with all the leaves, hearts and branches, fussy cut some of them out and added to my layout tone-on-tone, adding foam adhesive to some of them for more dimension.

Now the important question, where do I put my journalling? Cozy Chipboard Stickers to the rescue! They match the colors perfectly, they add dimension and are great for writing and stamping. I used three of them: one for my journaling, one for the date and I used the My Heart Stamp to add “love you” to the last label.

I love how this layout turned out and I had so much fun creating it! I hope I inspired you to have some fun with the September kit and add-ons too! Thanks for stopping by, friends!

Sketch Day with Patricia Roebuck

Hi Elle Studio Friends!  Today I am going to share how I interpreted today’s scrapbook layout sketch into my traveler’s notebook using the September kit and extras. This is a great example of using a sketch to inspire rather than following it exactly.

Here is the final sketch for the month:

And here is my traveler’s notebook spread:

Supplies | September 2020 Kit, September Print and Cut Labels, This is Us Stickers, Cozy Chipboard Stickers, Icon Chipboard Stickers, Autumn Rainbow Puffy Stickers, Home Wood Veneer, Autumn Days 6 x 8.5 Inch Paper Stack, Grateful Stamp, My Heart Stamp, Mini Dated Stamp

The first thing that caught my eye was the large title at the bottom.  That inspired me to make my title vertical instead of horizontal using the Home Wood Veneer. I added a little bit of vellum under it to create a bit of softness.  The little clusters on the sketch inspired me to add around my title including my journaling. I downloaded and printed the September Print and Cut Labels to type my journaling onto. To create repetition and contrast, I used a smaller label to add stamping with the new Grateful Stamp to adhere at the bottom.  Then, I finished that side with a September Kit die cut, a Cozy Chipboard Stickers, and Autumn Rainbow Puffy Stickers

Since the left side I used the new Autumn Days Paper Stack pattern paper as a background, I used white cardstock background for the right side to give the eye rest with some white space. Inspired by the three rectangles on the sketch, I used a kit tag placed horizontally instead of vertically to create a mat for my photo.  I trimmed pieces of the new Autumn Days Paper Stack in the woodgrain pattern, adding machine stitching to create consistency with the stitching I had done on the print and cut labels on the left. I adhered one by the photo and one in a cluster at the bottom.

Instead of repeating the rectangles in the sketch, I used the clusters created with the September Kit tag and die cuts, Autumn Days Paper Stack, This is Us Stickers, Cozy Chipboard Stickers, Autumn Rainbow Puffy Stickers and an Icon Chipboard Sticker in its place. As I placed them, I balanced the colors from the left side, and also kept the rainbows and stars from the sketch.  To finish, I added the My Heart Stamp sentiment on the tag, and used the Mini Dated Stamp directly on the Cozy Chipboard circle.

While you can still see how the original sketch inspired my interpretation, turning it and incorporating the clusters for the rectangles really made it my own and shows that you can get so much use from just one sketch! I hope you give creating with this sketch a try!
