Christmas Stories with Jen McMurtrey

Hello friends! It’s Jen here! I’ve been plugging away at my 2021 December Documented album and just finished a bittersweet spread about this year’s Christmas tree that I am sharing today.

As we raise our children, we hope they will someday leave the nest and become happy, healthy, and successful adults. What no one prepares you for is the sadness that accompanies their leaving. A couple of weeks ago, our son and his new bride moved into their first apartment on the Central Washington University campus, which is about 65 miles away. While I am thrilled for them and this new adventure, I really do miss having them around. With that in mind, today’s project focuses on the move, Caleb’s childhood ornaments, and this year’s tree.

Let’s take a look:

Supplies | Document December 2021 Kit, December Vellum Stickers, Puffy Heart and Star Stickers, Wonder Paper Stack, The Merriest Puffy Stickers, Title Builder Vol. 5 The Merriest Stamp, Dear Santa Stamp, Pattern Block Stamp, Holiday Tags Metal Die

One of my favorite new Elle’s Studio products is the Title Builder Merriest Stamp designed by Meghann Andrew. The sheer number of title possibilities makes this set a must have for anyone’s stamp collection, and it is front and center on today’s project.

To begin, I used the Holiday Tags Metal Die with folded white cardstock to make a flip-up element. On the front of the tag, I used the Title Builder Merriest Stamp with green and red inks to create the title for this story.

When the tag is open, there is journaling on the right and another flip-up element on the left. When typing the journaling, I created a text box in Word that was the same size as the tag, printed and cut it, and adhered it to the tag.

On the left, there are two photos backed with patterned papers from the Wonder Paper Stack. The photo of the kids outside their apartment has “joy” stamped on it as well as a stamped tab from the Document December 2021 Kit. This photo was adhered with a December Vellum Sticker on the right edge so it will open.

The second photo is adhered to a 4 x 6 inch journaling tag and is visible when the kids’ picture is flipped up.

Next, I cut patterned paper to fit the back of a 4 x 6 inch journaling tag, sandwiched the bottom layer of the tag between the two, and glued them together. This allows the tag on the previous page to be opened and closed.

On this side of the page, I added a photo of all of Caleb’s ornaments he’s received since he was a baby. On the bottom layer, I used a border punch to add texture and placed the matted photo on top.

Between the layers, I added “memories” from the The Merriest Puffy Stickers, a stamped tab, and cardstock sticker. On the right of the photo, I used Puffy Heart and Star Stickers to pull the readers eye across the page.

The final page in the project is very simple with a large photo of our Christmas tree adhered to patterned paper with a narrower strip behind it. On the bottom of the photo, I added the date with stickers from the Document December 2021 Kit.

I am loving the overall look of these pages in my album and look forward to documenting more of our December stories! Thank you for visiting today, and I hope you’ve been inspired to create!

Making Merry Christmas Cards with Nathalie Leonelli

Hello! It’s Nathalie here one more time this year to share Christmas cards created with the December kit and some favorite add-ons. I wanted to give a classy look to my cards and for that purpose I kept the colors minimal with a light mix of green, grey and gold.

Supplies: December 2021 Kit, Puffy Asterisk StickersThe Merriest Puffy StickersParker Outlined Alphabet StampWonder Paper StackThe Merriest Vellum Die CutsNesting Tags Metal DieParker Alphabet Metal DieLayered Card Metal Die

My starting point for both cards were the vellum stars and hearts from the The Merriest Vellum Die Cuts. On this first one, I stitched two hearts together in the center and built layers behind using a tag from the December Kit and patterned papers from the Wonder Paper Stack that I cut with dies from the Nesting Tags Metal Die and the Layered Card Metal Die

The gold paper used for the circle was a scrap I was happy to find in my stash. I finished with a simple sentiment cut from another patterned paper in the Wonder Paper stack.

I continued bringing forward gold accents on my second card with the help of stars from the Merriest Vellum Die Cuts and The Merriest Puffy Stickers. I layered them on top of two tags from the December Kit that I hand cut into pennants.

For the sentiment, I used the fabulous Parker Outlined Alphabet Stamp and matching metal dies. I added a die cut from the kit under so my letters wouldn’t be “floating”.

I hope you find these inspiring. It is not too late to make and send a few handmade cards for Christmas. They are a gift from your hands and will be received with a big smile. Happy Holidays from me to you!

Show us your handmade cards created using our products! Post your creations in our Elle’s Studio Facebook Group, or on Instagram using the hashtag #EllesStudio!

2022 Intentions with Junell Kruzel

Hey! Who’s ready for the new year? It’s Junell here on the blog today sharing my layout using the December 2021 kit and add-ons. I’ve actually been thinking about the new year a lot lately, so when I saw the Happy New Year tag I thought it would give me the perfect opportunity to document my intentions for next year. Resolutions are so 1999! It’s all about intentions now.

Supplies | December 2021 KitBright Star Journaling Tags, December Labels, Black Cardstock Label Stickers, Wintertime Vellum Stickers, Grateful Chipboard Stickers, Gold Puffy Alphabet Stickers, Parker Outlined Alphabet Stamp, Parker Outlined Number Stamp

Let’s get started! Honestly, this layout came together quite easily. I started with the Happy New Year tag from the December 2021 Kit and wanted to balance it with the other tag in the kit that also featured a colorful garland. The Bright Star Journaling Tags were just perfect as homes for each of my intentions. I numbered the tags using the December Labels.

Once I got all my tags into position, I created my title with the Parker Outlined Alphabet Stamp and the Parker Outlined Number Stamp. I also did a little journaling about how I like the idea of intentions rather than resolutions.

Then, I had fun playing with all the little extras like the Black Cardstock Label Stickers, the die cuts from the main kit, and the Gold Puffy Alphabet Stickers to embellish the layout and make it look like a festive New Year’s party and to get myself pumped for another new beginning!

Have you thought about documenting your intentions on a layout? What do you call them? How do you feel about them? I’m curious! Let us all know by sharing in our Facebook Group or on Instagram by using the #ellesstudio hashtag! Cheers to 2022!

Winter Adventures Recorded with Jody Compton

Hello crafty friends! It’s Jody here today highlighting the new Winter Tabs Stamp from the beautiful December 2021 kit and add-ons. Elle’s Studio currently has seven tab stamp sets all perfectly themed for your projects! To be honest, I was terrified of this project!  I do not consider myself a stamper! The December Labels, however, gave me an idea!

Supplies | December 2021 KitDecember Labels, Black Cardstock Label Stickers, Wintertime Vellum StickersGrateful Chipboard Stickers, Puffy Asterisk StickersWonder Paper Stack, Warm Solids Paper Stack, Winter Tabs Stamp

With 38 sentiments and cute phrases the Winter Tabs Stamp easily would fill in all the December Labels.

I am learning that good stamping begins with well prepared stamps!  I take my gum eraser and use it on the back of the whole stamp set. This does not have to be perfect or vigorous, just enough to get each one a little, “dirty!”

Next, I ink up the entire stamp set on it’s original sheet and make an impression or two.  The stamps have all been prepared and used at least once and are ready to go!

I filled in each of the December Labels with three phrases.  It was so fun to combine the sentiments to all work together.  A few winter adventures would definitely be skiing and snowshoeing.

My boys most certainly enjoyed this winter wonderland and the Winter Tabs Stamp helped me tell the story of all their fun that cold day!

Thank you so much for your time! I hope you are inspired to use the new Winter Tabs Stamp, too! Share your creativity using the #ellesstudio hashtag on Instagram and be sure to post in the Elle’s Studio Facebook Group!

A Winter Week in Pockets with Nicole Kerr

Hello, ES friends! It’s Nicole here and today I’m sharing my Week 50 spread in my 12 x 12 inch pocket page album. The December 2021 kit and add-ons work beautifully to create holiday spreads and winter themed spreads too! For this week, we had a little bit of both: a winter storm paired with holiday cookie baking and preparations!

Supplies | December 2021 Kit, Bright Star Journaling Tags, Wintertime Vellum Stickers, Full of Joy Chipboard Stickers, Puffy Asterisk Stickers, The Merriest Puffy Stickers, Holiday Fun Stickers, Red Cardstock Label Stickers, For the Record Stamp, Winter Tabs Stamp, Title Builder Vol. 5 The Merriest Stamp, Parker Outlined Alphabet Stamp, Parker Alphabet Stamp, Parker Number Stamp, Parker Outlined Number StampParker Number Metal Die, Parker Alphabet Metal Dies, From Sketch to Finish Vol. 6 Stamp

For my title card, I used the Parker Alphabet and Parker Number Stamps in both the solid and outlines paired with the coordinating dies to create the “WEEK 50.” I also used the “season of” stamp that can be found in the Title Builder Vol. 5 The Merriest Stamp, and paired that with the puffy sticker “comfort” from The Merriest Puffy Stickers to create the sub title “Season Of Comfort.” Lastly on this card I used the Puffy Asterisk Stickers and also the arrow stamp from the For the Record Stamp, which has to be my current favorite accent stamp! I also used a few die cuts and a Red Cardstock Label Sticker as accents on other photos.

I absolutely love the countdown sticker from the Wintertime Vellum Stickers and found that to work perfectly on the photo of my boys playing in the snow! I also added a “fun” puffy sticker to my filler tag and a few more die cuts and Puffy Asterisk Stickers.

For my journaling tag, I used the red Bright Star Journaling Tag and layered the block stamp from the From Sketch to Finish Vol. 6 Stamp. I also layered two heart die cuts with a red label and “holiday treats” stamp from the Winter Tabs Stamp and a grey Puffy Asterisk Sticker.

Lastly, for my 4 x 6 inch cookie photo, I felt that because it was so busy, it needed a place for my eye to rest. I used the blue Full of Joy Chipboard Sticker and adhered it to the center of my photo. I love how this blue ties into the small touches of blue through the spread.

Thank you so much for joining me today! Be sure to pull out your winter and holiday photos, past and present, and document your memories with the December 2021 kit and add-ons!

A Scrappy Christmas with Katarina Prevendarova

Hi, friends! It’s Katarina back with you again. Before you get to see the gorgeous December reveal tomorrow, I will share with you a project using scraps from my November 2021 kit and add-ons!

Supplies | November 2021 Kit, November Labels, Date Label Cardstock Stickers, Holiday Fun Stickers, Jane Tile Alphabet Cardstock Stickers – Red, White Parker Alphabet Cardstock Stickers, Puffy Heart and Star Stickers, Magical Acetate Circles, A Merry Moment Stamp, Monthly Numbers Stamp

When you have just a bunch of scraps left of your kit, one of the best techniques to use is to cut your scraps to geometrical shapes and combine them on your layout as I did here in my traveler’s notebook. This way you can add multiple colors and patterns to create an interesting look.

I cut the journaling tags from the November Kit to squares, triangles and circles and even cut some of them to halves. Then I combined them with die cuts from the November Kit and November Labels that I used for my journaling. I also added a puffy star from the Puffy Heart and Star Stickers.

I used A Merry Moment Stamp to repeat stamp on one of the squares to create some more interest.

On the left side of my spread, I used a full page photo of me unboxing my Christmas present. Every year my best scrappy friend and I send each other boxes with some yummy scrappy surprises. I really love this tradition and wanted to have it documented.

I created a cluster on the bottom left of my spread, combining a die cut from the November Kit, one of the November Labels and a Date Label Cardstock Sticker which I used to stamp the date using the Monthly Numbers Stamp. The Magical Acetate Circles are one of my favorite products and the one saying “tradition” was just a perfect addition to this cluster.

For my titles, I used a combination of red Jane Tile Alphabet Cardstock Stickers and White Parker Alphabet Cardstock Stickers. One of the journaling tags that I cut into pieces had a sentiment “This was awesome” and I couldn’t leave it out. It went under my title finishing my spread.

I love how this traveler’s notebook layout came together and love that this memory is forever documented!

Thank you for stopping by today, friends. This has been my last blog post for this amazing brand and design team. I just loved and enjoyed these two years of playing with the amazing Elle’s Studio products and bringing inspiration to you, our dear friends! Thanks for everything!
