I Spy Around the Web…

I spy around the web some incredible projects using Elle’s Studio products…

This stunning layout features our Number Cutouts, and was created by Corrie Jones for shimelle.com (details here).   I just love how she combined the number cutouts with stamps and mist in order to create a list throughout her layout.

We spotted this incredible Project Life Spread by Suz Mannecke.

She combined so many Elle’s Studio products within the spread.  We especially love the way she stitched the “LOVE” card (from the You and Me Note Tags), and included the February calendar.

Finally we have a beautiful layout to share by Lilith Eeckels.

We love how Lilith used the Elle’s Studio You and Me Papers within this layout.  The grey and white paper combined with the pink and chalkboard is beautiful!

We would love to feature your work on the Elle’s Studio blog!  Be sure to upload your projects to our Member Gallery— you may be featured next!!

Project Life

This week’s Project Life covers the week of February 4-10.
I had a lot of fun putting this week together.  It was fun playing with all the different packaging and ephemera I collected from the week.   Whenever I want to save something for my Project Life album, I immediate slip it in an empty pocket page for that particular week.   I find that if I store it elsewhere, it’s easy to forget it’s there.

This week we had a field trip, a doctor’s check up, a conference, a dance recital, the 100th day of school, and a much needed girls night out.  It was busy!

Elle’s Studio Number It stamps are fabulous for documenting the date– or making numbered lists.

I added an insert of 4×6 pockets to this week’s spread.  On the front side I added some info to my son’s 7 year check up.   I also took a photo of him with his pediatrician.   This doctor used to be my pediatrician so I enjoyed taking the time to document this fact and our appreciation of him.

On the backside of the 4×6 I included an insert about a conference my husband volunteers at every year since college.

There is a blank card in the insert is patterned paper from Day to Day collection.  I reserved this space for my husband’s journaling.  I almost journaled this card myself yesterday (just to “have it done”), but decided I would rather have his handwriting and perspective of the weekend.

The right side of the spread contains photos from the weekend’s Dance Recital and some ephemera from the 100th day of school.  I used the See/Hear/Taste/Touch/Smell prompts card from the Seafoam Project Life kit.  At the top of the card I stamped the “Documented” sentiment from Elle’s Studio Daily Details Stamp (best stamp set ever for Project Life).

Sketch Thursday

Happy Valentine’s Day and welcome back to Sketch Thursday! Today we have a great sketch inspired by Sarah’s Jenna Doll Love layout from the DT gallery.
DT member, Megan played along and came up with this fantastic double pager!

She said: “For the first time in a long time, I created a 2-page layout. It was a fun creative change for me! Even though the sketch was based on a single page layout, it was easily converted.”

DT member Ellie also played along and look what she created:
Ellie said: “For me when I saw this sketch I knew I wanted to use one of the pictures from the Father/Daughter dance that just passed. It was one of the sweetest day to be able to witness. I love the relationship Hubs and our little girl have and wanted to show case this in this layout.”

Your turn! We can’t wait to see how this sketch inspires you. Create a layout, post it to our member gallery and post a link OR simply leave a comment here for a chance to win a $10 gift certificate to the ES shop.

Last week’s randomly selected winner is: tenaya.

Project Life

This week’s Project Life covers the week of January 28- February 3.

Although this was a busy week, I managed to keep my spread fairly simple.  I used pops of pink from the You & Me Collection throughout the layout- and loved how it turned out!

One thing I kept in mind while looking through the week’s photos was to search for themes found in photography.  There were some obvious themes– food photos, overhead photos.   But I noticed two events that were complete separate but tied together a wonderful theme.

I caught a photo of my son watching the high school basketball team and I had a photo of my daughter watching a dance solo at her ballet studio.   I loved the idea of putting these two photos side by side and touching on the fact they look up to other in the sports/activities they love.  Such a great portrayal of admiration.

The ration of iPhone photos to DSLR photos was 8:2.  It’s clear I am using my iPhone most of the time while documenting the everyday.

Congrats to Shanon!  You won last week’s giveaway! Please email michelle@shopellesstudio.com the following info to claim your prize:

Cards

Hello everyone! If you’re anything like me, you spent part of your weekend working on Valentines. My kids have 4 different groups to bring Valentines to (that’s a lot of candy!) + some special cards ;). So I’m here today to show you a few super quick and easy Valentine ideas.

For the first card I made a fortune cookie with a sweet message 🙂
Supplies:

Instructions:
1. Start with a 4.25 x 5.5in card
2. Cut a 3×5.5in piece of Lovely Stripes paper
3. Punch a scallop stripe from the Lovely Stripes paper (B side) and sew to the left side
4. Make a fortune cookie from the Chalk Love paper
5. Attach a Lil’ snippet message to the cookie

6. Punch hearts from different patterned papers and attach to the card

The next card is lovely hot air ballon. This is a silhouette shape that I cut with different papers, then pieced together with some extra details:

Supplies:
You and Me Paper Collection Pack, Studio Calico Wood Veneer Heart, Versimark Ink, Brown Twine

Instructions:
1. Start with a 4.25 x 5.5in card
2. Cut the Hot Air Balloon shape twice. (Once on each side of the paper)
3. Stitch the strings with twine
4. Attach the paper pieces
5. Cut the bottom strip of the paper (xoxo) and attach to the card
6. Paint the wood veneer heart with blue ink and attach

And finally, I made a super easy treat bag with this awesome Journaling Tag and a mix of Sweet Tarts:

Supplies:
You and Me Large Journaling Tags, You and Me Tidbits, You and Me Pennants, Hello Sweetheart stamp set, Doily, Poly Bag, Candy

Instructions:

1. Start with a Large Journaling Tag
2. Fill a clear poly bag with candy and attach to the card
3. Fold a paper doily and attach to the top of the tag
4. Stamp ‘XOXO’ sentiment on the blue pennant
5. Trace the tidbit heart to vellum, cut out and sew to the tidbit
6. Layer the tags and attach to the top of the card

I hope these inspire you to do something special for a loved one. I’m sneaking a couple of the treat bags on my kid’s lunch boxes on Thursday! I’m sure they’ll love them 🙂
