La La La Love You! with Wei Wei Wang

Hello crafty friends! It’s Wei Wei with you here, and today I wanted to show you how I used some of the latest digital files in the store with the  January 2022 kit and add-ons.

This 8-1/2 x 11 inch layout uses several elements from the  January 2022 kit and add-ons, however, the main points of interest are the hearts on the center of the layout, and these were created using a simple technique with my Silhouette Cameo.

Here are my steps and tips:

1. I imported the heart tag PNG file into Silhouette Studio, opened the Trace window and selected the Trace Area.

2. I only wanted to use heart images on my layout, so I dragged the box around the area that includes all the hearts which I wanted to trace.

3. I used the “ungroup” option in order to reorganize the distance of the heart images. Then, I selected the “group” option, so all the heart images were grouped together again. 

4. Next, I adjusted the size of the hearts to fit my design.

After cutting my background, I had the heart die cut pieces left and I decided to make the most of them to create my own embellishments. As you can see, the 3D hearts that I created consisted of Love Notes Die Cuts and the die cut hearts, which I colored with pink Copic marker, then folded both layers in the middle and stitched.

I backed the hearts with small pieces of paper from the Love You Paper Stack. I also added stamping texture using the Currently Stamp and Love You Stamp. To create more dimension, I added hearts from the Heart and Star Chipboard Stickers.

I arranged my embellishments along with more of the Love Notes Die Cuts, Light Pink Cardstock Label Stickers, Heart and Star Chipboard Stickers and Love Chipboard Stickers for a fun cascade on the right edge.

I used the Large Heart Jane Alphabet Stamp and stamped “LA LA” onto vellum before adhering the letters to the embellishments.

After adding those main elements, I layered my photo with journaling tags from the January 2022 Kit, then embellished around it with Light Pink Cardstock Label Stickers, adorable pieces from the Love Notes Die Cuts and Love Chipboard Stickers. The heart cut file and “LA LA LA LOVE YOU!” chipboard sticker fit perfectly with this layout and of course had to be used. 

On the left side, I decorated with a few scraps from the Love You Paper Stack.

To add a special touch, I finished my layout using puffy stickers in Warm Tones, Cool Tones and Neutrals.

Jump-Start Your Valentine Cards with Sincere Sentiments and Meghann Andrew

Hello there, Elle’s Studio friends! It’s Meghann Andrew here, and I’m so happy to be on the blog with you today sharing an important reminder: there is only ONE MONTH to go until Valentine’s Day! I’m going to show you how you can create two beautiful and simple cards using our Wonderful You collection along with a few new add-ons from our January release!

Whether masculine or feminine, our Wonderful You collection is perfect for creating Valentines with a different look and feel every time! Let me show you this soft and pretty card that I created first:

I started off this card with my favorite striped pattern from the new Love You Paper Stack, choosing only the top 6 hues to create a warm background. Want to know how to take a pattern from bold and beautiful to soft and subtle? Add vellum to the top! I used the Layered Card Metal Die to added a vellum stitched-edge layer over the top of the stripe to help my next layer stand out. I didn’t adhere it just yet—keep reading to find out how I hid my adhesive.

The new Love Notes Die Cuts come with wonderful heart die cut journaling pieces, and instead of journaling, I decided to arrange several that matched the colors in the striped paper in a diagonal across my card. To add another subtle touch, and even more LOVE to this card, I stamped phrases from the Wonderful You Stamp on each heart in a coordinating color, giving the words a shadow effect. I then adhered the hearts to the vellum using regular adhesive and dimensional foam adhesive. To adhere my vellum panel to the patterned paper, I turned the panel over and placed adhesive liberally underneath of the heart die cuts.

To finish off the card, I paired the script “you,” stamped using the Wonderful You Stamp and cut with the coordinating Metal Die with the “are so loved” Wonderful You Chipboard Banner. That pop of black adds contrast against the soft colors and helps the sentiment to stand out. A few puffy heart stickers, (with adhesive sticky dots underneath of them to add more adhesive to the vellum panel), and tiny gems added just the right amount of sparkle to complete the card.

My next card took a more masculine approach, but still included a cascade of hearts! This time, I selected cooler hues, and began by layering patterns from the Love You Paper Stack with another vellum panel cut with the Layered Card Metal Die. Because of its simplicity, I used a lot of dimensional adhesive here—underneath the vellum panel and under my gray and teal hearts.

My sentiment “you” was double-stamped with the Wonderful You Stamp in navy and a pale teal, then die cut with the coordinating Wonderful You Metal Die. To add a “shelf” for this word to sit on, I stamped the dotted banner from the Wonderful You Add-On Stamp, and added “make life sweet” from the Wonderful You Stamp and cut it with the coordinating Banners Metal Die. To keep embellishment at a minimum, I simply added two navy dots from the Tiny Shapes & Dots Puffy Stickers to look like nailheads on the banner.

More and Less with Nathalie Leonelli

Hello friends! This is Nathalie and I am very excited to be back on the design team for another year! I have never really been big on New Year’s resolutions but I was recently inspired by an illustrator on Instagram to write a “More, Keep On and Less” list which I documented in a traveler’s notebook. I used the January 2022 kit and add-ons to create my photo-less spread.

Before working on my list, I made the title with the new Large Heart Jane Alphabet, stamped on a grey paper from the Warm Solids Paper Stack. I also introduced brightly-colored borders using a sheet from the Love You Paper Stack.

From the start, I knew I was going to type my list on the Light Pink Cardstock Label Stickers and since I wanted to visually differentiate the ‘More’ from the ‘Less’, I found the same stickers in Light Teal for the opposite page. 

I loved the positive inclusion of the “Keep on” list in my inspiration piece and typed mine on the “this year I plan to” tag from the January Kit.

To finish, I added a bit more stamping, in black for contrast, including the Currently Stamp (which is free to all of our monthly kit subscribers!) on top of a circle from the Love Notes Die Cuts. It fills a blank space at the bottom and helps balance the two pages.

I didn’t know I would love this as much as I do! It is easier to remind myself of all these good intentions with a positive spread like this. I hope you will give it a try!

We Heart Large Jane! with Suzanna Lee

Happy New Year Elle’s Studio fans! It’s Suzanna here to share with you my first blog post of 2022! I hope this finds you in good health and spirits! I’m sharing a layout that features the Large Heart Jane Alphabet Stamp. Have you seen the latest addition to the Large Jane Alphas yet? If not, run and check it out after you finish this blog post, it’s an amazing addition to what I think is THE best alphabet stamp ever!

The title for this page was created using double-layer stamping with both the Solid and Large Heart Jane Alphabet stamps. First, stamp the appropriate letters using the solid stamp. Then, using a stamping platform such as the Misti, stamp the Large Heart Jane Alphabet on top. Having a stamping aid is key to getting more precision in aligning the letters for this double layered look. Not critical, but definitely very helpful!

In order to really integrate the title into the design of the page, I used inks that coordinated with the color palette of the page; teal, red, pink, lavender and the more orangey coral. Colors that feature in the Heart and Star Chipboard Stickers, Love Chipboard Stickers and the Love Notes Die Cuts.

To offset the dominance of content on the left hand side of the page, I put a small cluster of color-coordinated goodies on the bottom, right hand side of the page. 

Journaling is under the right hand photo. I used one of the January 2022 Labels to create the “flip” that attaches the photo over the 3 x 4 inch pocket card from the January 2022 Kit.

2022: New Year, New Memories with Diane Dziuban

Hi friends! I am so excited to be here and to share my first project with you (I still can’t believe this real)!! I hope you all had a wonderful holiday season and are looking forward to 2022 as much as I am!

Every year, since 2011, I have completed a yearly album documenting all the big and small moments in our lives. Documenting the everyday, small moments, just brings me so much joy. I have gone from documenting weekly to more of a monthly approach as our lives have changed over the years. For my albums I always create a title page to start the album out, and I just knew that the January 2022 kit and add-ons would be perfect for this. The colors are just so bright and happy—a perfect way to start out my 2022 album!

I love how all the products coordinate and make it easy to put pages together! I had fun adding a little stitching to some of the tags, as well as creating a custom tag from one of the papers in the Love You Paper Stack. I thought the word phrases on the paper were perfect for my title page.

One of my favorite things that I have done the last few years is to add my goals for the upcoming year to my title page. It keeps them front-and-center so that they stay fresh on my mind during the year. I made a flip-up using the striped 4 x 6 inch tag (cut down to make it 3 x 4 inch) from the January 2022 Kit, cardstock and washi tape. The colors in that 4 x 6 inch tag were the inspiration for the page. Flip-ups are so easy to do, and it adds more space to get some documenting in.

I am so looking forward to filling my album with all the new memories we will make in the coming year, as our very first grandbaby is due in July! Happy crafting, friends!

#EllesStudio Spottings on Instagram

Hey there, friends! It’s been a season of creating lately on Instagram, and with our Document December project in full swing, we found so many amazing projects when we searched our #EllesStudio hashtag! Take a look at six that caught our eye this month!

Speaking of Document December, it looks like Sarah (@shedocumentslife) got off to a great start with this beautiful page using bits and pieces of our Document December collection, including our Simple Joys Puffy Stickers! We can’t wait to see how your album evolves, Sarah! On the right, Susan (@littlethingsbigdays) created her fun page using our past Document December products along with our Currently Journaling Tags! We love how your album is coming together, Susan!

On the left, Alison (@createwithalison) created such a great pocket of lists using our Document December papers, including the Christmas Basics Paper Stack, and added coordinating Puffy Alphabet Stickers, too! We love this clean and bold page in Alison’s album! On the right, pockets in Miley’s (@miley.scraps) album were filled with our Document December Kit to record the highlights of the season. What a great page, Miley!

Layouts were filled with our products, too, and we love this sweet page on the left by Kim (@kimjenkinskrafts) that features our Title Builder The Merriest Puffy Stickers! That dark green monochromatic color scheme is just perfect with these stickers! On the right, we loved taking a look into Sarah’s (@sarahsscrappingspace) creative space, and loved her caption on this share: “No matter what collection you’re drawing from, I love that @ellesstudio colours all match and blend together.” We love making it easy for you to create, Sarah!
