Make a Wish with Marsha Farris

Hey, Elle’s Studio friends! It’s Marsha here today to share a pocket page layout created with the March kit and add-ons. This is a layout in my 9 x 12 inch family album documenting my youngest son’s twelfth birthday.

Supplies | March 2022 Kit, March Printables, Navy Puffy Alphabet StickersHeart and Star Chipboard Stickers – Cool, Play All Day Chipboard Stickers, Navy Puffy Alphabet Stickers, Good Times Seals StampMedium Jane Alphabet Stamp – Outline, Make A Wish Stamp, Hazel Alphabet Stamp, Medium Jane Alphabet Metal Die

I began the layout by working on the title card. I chose a pocket tag from the March Kit and used the Play All Day Chipboard Stickers to begin creating the title. I also stamped a portion of the title with the outline Medium Jane Alphabet Stamp and cut it out with the coordinating Medium Jane Alphabet Metal Die. The mixed stamp and chipboard title is my favorite part of this birthday layout! I also stamped a phrase from the Make A Wish Stamp and created an ombre-effect by inking the stamp with two shades of blue ink. It’s such a simple technique, but I love the results! To complete the title card, I embellished it with star stickers from the cool Heart and Star Chipboard Stickers and stamped the date with the Hazel Alphabet Stamp and navy ink.

I used more pocket tags from the kit for the next pockets. I added a photo and embellished it by stamping on a die-cut circle from the kit with the Good Times Seals Stamp and blue ink. The next pocket includes another pocket tag and die cut from the kit. I also stamped the number 12 with the outline Medium Jane Alphabet Stamp and navy ink.

The Make A Wish Stamp was perfect for including a few birthday sentiments to the next pocket tag. I added the numbers one through three with the Navy Puffy Alphabet Stickers for a bit of extra interest on the printed tabs.

I included my journaling for the layout on a pocket card from the March Printables. The card had some preprinted circular elements in one corner, so I continued this design by adding a few stamped details with the Good Times Seals Stamp to the top of the card. This stamp set includes solid and outline stamps, making it so easy to create your own seals!

I loved making this birthday pocket page with the March kit and add-ons! Even though this is not a themed kit, I think it worked perfectly for this layout. Thank you for joining me today! Happy creating!

Sketch Day with LeeAnne Jones

Hello, everyone! It’s LeeAnne here with the latest sketch from Elle’s Studio, which highlights the new Play All Day Chipboard Stickers. Believe it or not, this is my first time using a sketch! Of course, I’ve been inspired by many layouts over the years and sometimes scrap-lift specific elements and techniques (which you’ll see here, too!) But following a map for creating a whole layout!? I was excited and a little bit nervous to take on this new-to-me challenge. Here’s a look at today’s sketch:

What excited me most about this sketch was the embellishment “confetti.” It’s just so fun seeing all those different shapes lined up. What I struggled with was the vertical orientation of the letters—so I turned the design 90 degrees! All’s fair in love and war and scrapbook sketches.

Supplies | March 2022 KitMarch Cut FilesMarch 2022 LabelsCerulean Blue Cardstock Label Stickers, Jane Tile Alphabet Cardstock Stickers – Sky Blue, Jane Tile Alphabet Stickers – Navy, Heart and Star Chipboard Stickers – Cool, Play All Day Chipboard Stickers, Chipboard Circle Stickers, Puffy Heart and Star Stickers, Moss Green Puffy Alphabet Stickers, Tiny Shapes and Dots Puffy Stickers – Cool TonesTiny Shapes and Dots Puffy Stickers – Warm Tones, White Acrylic Stars, Love You Paper StackHome Sewn Stitches Stamp

Because the “Play All Day” phrase is blue and the March 2022 Kit has a lot of great blues, greens, and yellows, I decided to make that my palette. I let it guide my photo selection, too, and luckily I had one of my kids in a giant green and blue foam pit! For the embellishment confetti, I used as many pieces from the March kit and add-ons as I could, including portions of the die cuts, many of the Heart and Star Chipboard Stickers, and even an exclamation mark from the Sky Blue Jane Tile Alphabet Cardstock Stickers. I also scrap-lifted a technique from fellow design team member Suzanna Lee: Turning labels into pennants. Genius!

To mat the photo, I used journaling tags from the March Kit as well as patterns from the Love You Paper Stack. Once I had my journaling in place, the right side of the cluster seemed heavy, so I added embellishments to the left of the photo only, including one of the Cerulean Blue Cardstock Label Stickers, a March 2022 Label, and one of the super-fun White Acrylic Stars. This portion of the design is significantly busier than the sketch, but I think it works.

I’m pretty proud of my nearly-perfectly aligned journaling! While I can’t claim it works every time, my method is to meticulously measure the journaling tag and then kind of recreate the bones of it using InDesign software, aiming for the right line spacing. In this case, I even created an invisible rectangle with text-wrap to mimic the angle created by the overlapping photo, so that my words wouldn’t be covered. Then I sent the physical journal tag on its side through my photo printer as if it was a 4 x 6 inch photo and prayed to the crafting gods. You could achieve similar results using Word or Photoshop—or just add digital journaling to one of the March Printables!

I really enjoy the look of embroidery on paper, but for this layout, I opted for the Home Sewn Stitches Stamp instead. With a flat stamped image, you don’t have to worry about stitching through the embellishments, or having them resting unevenly over the thread, and it totally looks like the real deal from a distance! Lastly, for the border of the layout, I pieced together the navy striped sheets from the Love You Paper Stack and added another round of stamped stitches for a nice, finished edge.

That’s it for now. I can’t wait to see how you use this sketch! Be sure to share on social media with the hashtag #ellesstudio or in our Elle’s Studio Facebook Group! Happy documenting!

Medium Jane Metal Die Love with Kat Benjamin

Hello, friends! It’s Kat here today to share a fun way that I like to use the new Medium Jane Alpha dies.

I love the size of this alphabet and I wanted to use the negatives of the dies in a fun way.  I decided to scrap some photos from a recent family photoshoot and thought it would be fun to make a background of sorts with the die cut letters, the negatives, and a variety of alphabet stickers.

Supplies | March 2022 Kit, Autumn Die Cut TabsJane Tile Alphabet Cardstock Stickers – Sky Blue, Jane Tile Alphabet Cardstock Stickers – Red, Gray Jane Alphabet Cardstock Stickers, Heart and Star Chipboard Stickers – Cool, Heart and Star Chipboard Stickers – Warm, Play All Day Chipboard Stickers, Cool Solids Paper Stack, Love You Paper Stack, Good Times Seals Stamp, Medium Jane Alphabet Metal Die

I decided to skew the word background to the left side of my layout. I adhered the die negatives first and then built the rest of the “Love” words on top of that foundation. I made sure to use papers that coordinated well with the photos.

Once I had all my “Love” words down, I added my photos and used a lot of bits from the March 2022 Kit to pop out from around the photos.

I finished off the layout by stamping a border along the right side of the page using the Good Times Seals Stamp.

I really love that the Medium Jane Alphabet Metal Die was the perfect product to create a fun grounding element for my page. This is such a versatile product, and I know this die set will become a staple in my future projects.

Break Out of The Grid with Suzanna Lee

Hiya, scrappy peeps and Elle’s Studio fans! It’s Suzanna here today to share a multi-photo layout created using the newly released March 2022 kit and add-ons. I love to incorporate the pocket cards into traditional 12 x 12 inch layouts and try to find ways that “break out of the box”, or soften that grid-like feel. This blog post will share with you how I’ve accomplished that.

Supplies | March 2022 Kit, March 2022 Labels, Little Star Label Stickers, Black Jane Alphabet Cardstock Stickers, Heart and Star Chipboard Stickers – Cool, Play All Day Chipboard Stickers, Dark Red Puffy Alphabet Stickers, White Acrylic Stars, Good Times Seals Stamp, Medium Jane Alphabet Metal Die, My Star Metal Die

You can break out of a grid while preserving a clean structure, and potentially even keep symmetry and one of the best ways I found to do that is to use layers or overlapping elements, such as I have done with the White Acrylic Stars and March 2022 Labels. By having these elements overlap, or span across several of the boxes, (or photos in this case) you are able to not only hide distracting elements on the photo, but make the grid less rigid.

Another way to break the grid is to use an unusual placement of elements. With the cascade of circles down the left-hand side of the page, there is a seemingly random arrangement of the page. While stars are repeated throughout the layout, they are different sizes, heights, and materials, thus adding to the random, yet unifying structure. The White Acrylic Stars really add dimension to the page and break up the box by adding a different pattern to the 90-degree angles of the borders between the boxes.

Adding the softness of circles is yet another way to break the grid. Inherently, the circles are less rigid with their curved lines. Stamping directly down the page with the Good Times Seals Stamp complements the bowls in one of the photos and softens the rigidity of the grid. Interspersing the March Labels with those same circles does, however, keep some of the structure of the grid.

If you are of the process video inspired variety, be sure to head over to my personal YouTube channel where I will share the video of how this layout came together!

Baby Love in a Traveler’s Notebook with Michelle Flynn

Hi friends, it’s Michelle, and I’m so happy to be here today to share how I am using the beautiful March 2022 kit and add-ons in a travelers notebook that I have been creating. You may have already seen me share the beginning of this travelers notebook, as I’ve been making it for my daughter and it’s just a sweet highlight of our grandson’s first months.

Supplies | March 2022 Kit, February 2022 KitMarch 2022 Labels, Love Notes Die Cuts, Jane Tile Alphabet Cardstock Stickers – Sky BlueHeart and Star Chipboard Stickers – CoolPlay All Day Chipboard Stickers, Gold Heart Paper Clips, Love You Paper Stack, Cool Solids Paper Stack, Monthly Highlights Paper Stack, Monthly Numbers Stamp, Medium Jane Alphabet Metal Die, Love Notes Metal Die, Pocket, Frame and Flip-Up Metal Die

I started this layout by printing a full-size photo of my grandson in my arms for the left side of the spread. I trimmed off just over 2 inches from an 8 1/2 by 11 inch sheet of bright white cardstock which I scored in the middle to create a traveler’s notebook-sized page that would flip open. I thought the Monthly Highlights paper from the Monthly Highlights Paper Stack was just perfect for some added journal notes!  I adhered it inside the flip and I trimmed off just under an inch from the length of the flip so you could see the monthly highlight numbers peeking through.

Using the March 2022 Kit I chose a few of the pocket tags for the front side. I selected the navy blue and light teal paper from the Love You Paper Stack to create a simple border. I used the Pocket, Frame and Flip-Up Metal Die to create a frame flip-up with the pocket tags and to create additional room for a photo and journaling. That die is one of my absolute favorites, and if you’ve seen my layouts you probably already know that I use it all the time! It’s just the best!

I went through my die cuts from both the February 2022 Kit and the March 2022 Kit, as well as those sweet Heart and Star Chipboard Stickers for further embellishing to the front side of the layout.

With the highlight paper already adhered to the inside of my TN flip, I grabbed one of my favorites, the Jane Tile Alphabet Cardstock Stickers! I am seriously loving the sky blue color of these new alphas. I used them to start my title, “Remember” and then I trimmed down one of the March 2022 Labels for the bottom of the page while tucking a die cut from the March Kit above it. I used one of my favorite stamps, the Monthly Numbers Stamp, to record the date.

While I still had my navy blue paper out from the Love You Paper Stack I thought it would be fun to use the large heart from the Love Notes Metal Die to create an open heart at the top of the right side of the flip. I used the Cool Solids Paper Stack with the new Medium Jane Alphabet Metal Die to complete my title inside the heart and below the photo. I added a gray die cut label from the Love Notes Die Cuts as an embellishment to tuck into the side of my photo on that page.

I love that I can use my monthly pocket tags and die cuts in both my pocket page albums and also in traveler’s notebooks! You’ll notice I’ve purposely left all of my journaling space open. Since being a new mommy doesn’t leave much time to journal or even create, I created this TN and layout with that in mind for my daughter to have open and available space as an opportunity for her to journal.

I hope this has inspired you in some small way to use your monthly kits in all forms of memory keeping!  Share your own inspiration from this release on Instagram using the #ellesstudio hashtag and join us in the Elle’s Studio Facebook Group for more fun!  Happy creating friends!

Fun Times in Pockets with Aimee Mertell

Hello Elle’s Studio friends! It’s Aimee here with you today sharing a pocket page using the new March 2022 kit and add-ons. I had a ton of photos to document from a recent family camping trip and I think that the colors in the March kit are a perfect compliment to them. Let’s take a look at what I came up with!

Supplies | March 2022 KitMarch 2022 LabelsHeart and Star Chipboard Stickers – CoolPlay All Day Chipboard Stickers, Warm Solids Paper Stack, Medium Jane Alphabet Stamp – Outline, Monthly Numbers Stamp, Medium Jane Alphabet Metal Die, Good Times Seals Metal Die

I really wanted to mix up my pockets this week, so I am stepping outside of my comfort zone and using a Design G page protector from Becky Higgins. These particular pockets have two 4 x 6 inch vertical spots which I typically don’t work with, however, I saw this as an opportunity to use a ton of color and dig into my Warm Solids Paper Stack

I chose a solid yellow paper as my photo and title backdrop, which plays nicely with all the blue in my photos. To create my title, I stamped out the name of the campsite using the outline Medium Jane Alphabet Stamp on solid white cardstock and then used the coordinating Medium Jane Alphabet Metal Die to cut it out. The metal dies really make creating titles a breeze!

I selected the rainbow-striped 4 x 6 inch tag from the March Kit and flipped it vertically in orientation for my next pocket. This tag really helps to tie in all the different colors of the layout and adds balance to the page.

To pack even more of a punch and bring more emphasis to the bottom of my pockets, I created a fun, secondary title using the Play All Day Chipboard Stickers. Underneath, I added journaling about our trip and embellished with March Kit die cuts.

I finished up the page with even more journaling on a 3 x 4 inch tag that had a space for me to add the date of our trip, which I did with the Monthly Numbers Stamp. I had a lot of fun creating these pockets and it was refreshing to try something new! Do you find yourself always using the same pocket orientations over and over? I invite you to challenge yourself and try something different—the results may surprise you!

March Kit and Add-On Preview with Nathalie Leonelli

Dear Elle’s Studio fans, it’s Nathalie here today to share with you a preview of the amazing March kit and extras. I hope you’ve already checked out the sneaks both here on the blog and on Instagram and that you have set up your alarms for 8am PT tomorrow, Thursday March 10th!

This is my first project with tomorrow’s release and it is a monthly 9 x 12 inch pocket page documenting last March.

Supplies | (all new product links will be live on March 10th at 8am PT!) March 2022 Kit, March 2022 Labels, Love You Paper StackWarm Solids Paper Stack, Good Times Seals StampMedium Jane Alphabet Stamp – OutlineCurrently StampMonthly Numbers StampMedium Jane Alphabet Metal Die

These pockets feature quite a bit of stamping, including the fabulous outline Medium Jane Alphabet Stamp and new Medium Jane Alphabet Metal Die.

I absolutely love this size of Elle’s Studio’s clean font for pocket scrapbooking, as well as card making! And starting tomorrow, dies are available for both the Medium Jane Alphabet and the Medium Jane Numbers. Isn’t that brilliant? I should also mention that for this title card, I picked a couple of papers from the Warm Solids and the Love You Paper Stacks that matched perfectly with the group of tags I selected from the kit.

I had a lot of fun with the Good Times Seals Stamp; they actually inspired me to incorporate lots of circles on my layout, including my title card, and they are super versatile. You will get lots of use out of them!

The embellishments come from the kit die-cut sheets and the March Labels. Older but favorite stamps, seen above, were also used, like the Currently and Monthly Numbers Stamp, available in the shop.

I hope this preview helps you in selecting your favorites tomorrow! Happy reveal day!
