Sketch Day with Daniela Dobson

Welcome to the Elle’s Studio blog today! It’s Daniela here with a layout using July 2018 Kit and extras based on this wonderful sketch created from Amanda’s Fun in the Sunshine layout:

I also created an 8-1/2″ x 11″ layout using the sketch for inspiration:

Supplies | July 2018 KitWood Veneer PhrasesPool Time Wood VeneersPuffy Heart Stickers – Summer MixHighlight StampEveryday Phrases Stamp, Noteworthy Bits and PiecesNoteworthy Puffy StickersNoteworthy 12″ x 12″ Paper CollectionNoteworthy Stamp

To change things up a bit, I used two smaller photos located in the same area as the photo in the sketch. Just like the sketch, I used the solid white background with two strips of patterned paper from the Noteworthy 12″ x 12″ Paper Collection on the sides, and tucked in little tabs stamped using the Highlight Stamp, which I cut out.

For the title, I added the “this is the life” phrase stamped with the Everyday Phrases Stamp, “soak up the sun” Wood Veneer Phrase and Pool Time Wood Veneers, the “life currently looks like this” Noteworthy Puffy Sticker, along with die cuts from the July Kit. I tucked the yellow-striped shipping tag under the layers created from 4″ x 6″ tags and added twine from my stash for texture.

We can’t wait to see how you use this sketch on your next project! Thanks for stopping by!

“Inspired By” with Jamie Leija

Inspiration is everywhere, and this month we challenged design team member Jamie Leija to choose a layout from last month’s design team inspiration posts from which to find some inspiration. You’ll love what she created!

I don’t know about you but I’m always so inspired by the creative team! Which is why I was so excited to get the “Inspired By” prompt for the month. I lifted this page that Candace created for the June gallery:

I just loved all the patterned paper she was able to add using this grid design. Here’s what I created, based off of her project:

Supplies | July 2018 KitJuly LabelsJane Alphabet Stickers — WhiteWood Veneer PhrasesVellum and Wood Veneer AsterisksPuffy Heart Stickers — Summer MixPuffy Heart Stickers — Spring MixHighlight StampNoteworthy 6″ x 6″ Paper Stack

I cut down 3″ x 4″ journaling tags from the July Kit and a few of the patterned papers from the Noteworthy 6″ x 6″ Paper Stack and assembled them in a grid on the page, just the same as Candace did.

I wanted to play on the edges a bit, so I used the “let’s have some fun” asterisk sentiment from the Highlight Stamp. Before adhering the tags and paper down, I stamped at or around the points where they met. I used red ink because there were a few really bright red flowers in my photos.

Once the background pieces were adhered, I stitched a few lines to add texture. After that, I added photos in about the same place that Candace did. Then I embellished using the awesome Vellum Asterisks, July Labels, puffy hearts and Wood Veneer Phrases.

I added my title using the new Jane Alphabet Stickers and my journaling via typed strips. I love how it came together and I’m not sure I would have been able to incorporate all of these fantastic patterns if I hadn’t started with Candace’s design!

Summer Swimming + Process Video with Neela Nalam

What weekly summer activities are you missing in your albums? Swim lessons were on Neela Nalam‘s list, and she took care of that using our July Kit and add-ons! She has some great ideas on how to create a beautiful layout that tells all of the story, so check out her project and process video to see how it all came together!

The July Kit and add-ons are my absolute favorite products so far. I love everything about them! My main inspiration to create this layout were the Pool Time Wood Veneers. The pieces are so fun and perfect to document all the awesome time spent in the pool in this season. I decided to document my kids’ swim lessons with the products. Here is my layout:

Supplies | July 2018 KitJane Alphabet Stickers — White, Vellum and Wood Veneer Asterisks, Pool Time Wood VeneersJump AcrylicHighlight StampNoteworthy Puffy StickersNoteworthy 6″ x 6″ Paper Stack

I decided to print out my photos as squares and punch out circles. I love all of the different textures that I got to incorporate on this layout—puffy stickers, acrylic words, wood veneer and stamps. I also used the Jane Alphabet Stickers along with the Highlight Stamp to make my title, which I placed on the yellow grid 4″ x 3″ tag from the July Kit as the base.

I also used the Noteworthy 6″ x 6″ Paper Stack as a base for the Jump Acrylic. I love how well the collection coordinates with the July Kit.

I typed my journaling on a 4″ x 6″ tag from the July Kit. Even though it has a background of fireworks, I liked using it on this layout as the colors were so great and it is all in the spirit of the month of July.

Do check out this process video to see how this layout came together!

Thanks for watching, and stopping by the blog today!

Hello Vacation Mode with Guest Designer Sabrina Poole

We have so enjoyed the projects that our guest designer, Sabrina Poole has shared with us this month! In case you missed it, be sure to check out her warm, summery pocket page spread documenting a day on the lake, as well as her celebratory birthday pocket page spread that she created for us earlier this month! Let’s see what she has to share with us for her final project:

Hi. This is Sabrina again and I’m here to share my last project. I had the best time using the awesome (and so verstaile) July Kit and extras! I even decided that with this kit and June’s kit I could make a summer album. I’m excited to put it together!

For this project I took some of my favorite snapshots from our recent summer trip to Santa Cruz to make a two-page spread for our summer album. The blue, aqua and green cards worked perfect to pair with my trip photos.

Supplies | July 2018 Kit, July Labels, Jane Alphabet Stickers — White, Puffy Heart Stickers — Summer Mix, Hello Happy Puffy Words, Shine 6″ x 6″ Paper StackEveryday Phrases Stamp

As with many vacations there are so many little stories to document, so I used various pieces of the kit and with the Everyday Phrases Stamp to put together my tags and photos. In this close-up you can see I stamped “I love this” and a little story to the July Label. The pocket below includes a framed journaling tag with a photo of my husband and daughter. I then stamped the phrase ‘thankful for this’ to start off my journaling. All of these products make putting together fun tags easy!

On my title tag, I topped the a wave journaling tag from the July Kit with some scraps from the Shine 6″ x 6″ Paper Stack, and used the white Jane Alphabet Stickers to add the location. To embellish, I added the navy label and “snapshot” die-cuts from the July Kit, and the summer Puffy Heart Stickers. I love how this one really brings together all of the colors in my spread and acts as a great starting point for the layout.

On the 4″ x 6″ tag I used the “vacation mode” die cut from the June Kit at the bottom with the Hello Happy Puffy Words “Hello” at the top to read, “Hello vacation mode.” How fun is that!? I needed a way to make the “hello” word stand out, since the stickers are white and the 4″ x 6″ tag top portion is white as well. So, I used some more scraps from Shine 6″ x 6″ Paper Stack to place the “hello” stickers on, then cut out the letters. I then added in ten favorite stories from our trip. I love how this tag came together!

This vacation spread was so fun to put together with all of the awesome puffy hearts, die cuts, journaling tags and stamps released this month. Thank you for looking, and thank you for having me here this month! I had the best time being a guest designer!

Hey. My name is Sabrina Poole and I live near Sacramento with my hubby and two children. Life is busy and chaotic in the best of ways. It makes documenting, creating and scrapbooking easy! I have been documenting since I started college (nearly 14 years ago!) and I continue to document even though my format has changed. I’ve always been drawn to how documenting with colorful products leads to life being preserved in a beautiful, memorable way.

Right now I document mostly hybrid and use digital products to make projects come to life. I always have several projects going at once and love my crafty time. I post most of my projects on Instagram and am just now starting my YouTube channel. So excited!

Journaling An Unexpected Summer Moment with Andrea Gray

Time spent with a busy teenager is definitely a moment to document, and today Andrea Gray is with us to share how she’s journaling a rare and special summer moment, using our July 2018 kit and add-ons! Let’s take a look:

Hey friends, it’s Andrea here! Summertime is often a busy time with busy schedules. In this stage of our lives, my teenage son works, so getting time with him is rare. The page I’m sharing with you today is all about documenting a special afternoon with him that I wasn’t expecting.

Supplies | July 2018 KitJuly LabelsJane Alpha Stickers—White, Wood Veneer Phrases, Puffy Heart Stickers — Summer MixHighlight Stamp, Noteworthy Stamp, Noteworthy 6″ x 6″ Paper Stack

He joined my younger son and I at the pool, on a whim one day when he got off of work early. Some unexpected teenager time was exactly what I needed and definitely needed to document it! I layered some torn up papers from the Noteworthy 6″ x 6″ Paper Stack and made a title of sorts on this full 6″ x 8″ side. Using the new Jane Alphabet Stickers, I spelled his name on a white background and outlined them to keep it subtle.

Supplies that do the journaling for me are so perfect when the words don’t always come to me. I grabbed several of the Wood Veneer Phrases that said all the things I was feeling and stacked them up. Adding color and contrast anywhere I can is always a must!

He’s a pretty cool kid and this photo of him certainly captures that. I wanted to document some things about him at this moment, so I used a open journaling tag to create a list and embellished with the “all the good stuff” die-cut from the July KitPuffy Heart Stickers and stamped plus signs from the Noteworthy Stamp.

The Highlight Stamp was so fun to play with here on this tag. I stamped off the first generation of the ink so I could have a lighter version on my tag. I wanted the word “highlight” to be light and the OF TODAY to be dark so I used the first stamp of that ink. I used the rest of the open space for telling the story of him joining us by surprise and finished it off with the fun “let’s have some fun” stamp for contrast and interest!

Thanks for hanging with me today! I hope you found something you can use in your projects and are inspired to make journaling a priority!

Until next time, friends!

Documenting A Relaxing Vacation with Suzanna Stein

Hey friends, Suzanna here! I’m so excited to be back on the blog today sharing a layout I created with the July kit and add-ons! As soon as I saw this month’s kit, I knew it would be perfect for documenting our Kauai trip from the end of last year.

Supplies | July 2018 Kit, July Labels, Jane Alphabet Stickers — NavyJane Alphabet Stickers — Teal, Jane Alphabet Stickers — WhitePool Time Wood Veneers, Yellow Puffy Alphabet Stickers, Puffy Heart Stickers — Summer Mix, Highlight Stamp, Noteworthy Stamp

There was a lot I wanted to document with this layout, so I decided to do a two-page 6″ x 8″ spread with a double-sided 3″ x 8″ pocket in the center.

I usually embellish my photos quite a bit before adding them to the pockets, but with all of the journaling and recording, I felt like the photos spoke for themselves. I used the yellow tag from the July 2018 Kit for my main journaling, and one tag for my title. Then, I added in the photos, and a few decorative tags.

There were a couple of tags from the July Kit that I knew I wanted to add. The first was the “Morning, Afternoon, Evening” tag. I knew this would be perfect to document how little we did and to emphasize how relaxing our days were. I used the teal Jane Alphabet Stickers so that the phrases would stand out on the simple card, and then added the dates of the week of our vacation at the bottom.

I also included the “Currently” tag because so many of the sentiments were perfect to describe our trip. I used the Summer Puffy Heart Stickers to check the boxes of those that applied!

The last tag that I added was one with three journaling spaces. I numbered them 1, 2, and 3 with the navy Jane Alphabet Stickers, then added one activity from our trip to each line. Again, these were simple things, since our days were mostly spent relaxing by the pool, but since that’s what I loved most about the vacation, it was the perfect way to document it.

I love the way this layout turned out and the extra interaction the 3″ x 8″ pocket adds in the center. I can’t wait to document the rest of our trip with this kit!

Digital Die-Cut Fun with Candace Perkins

Have you check out our digital die-cut and printable files lately? Each month brings new digitals for your library to the shop, and their phrases, shapes, and colors coordinate perfectly with our exclusive kit! Let’s take a look at how design team member Candace Perkins used digital files on a fun, fresh summer layout:

Hello friends! Welcome back to the Elle’s Studio blog. One of my favorite parts of the kits each month are the coordinating digital cut files. I love the versatility and flexibility of the digitals and their ability to match any of your projects. Today, I chose to focus on the firework shape in the July 2018 Digital Cut File. Here is a look at the final project that came together using the digitals and bunch of July shop goodies:

Supplies | July 2018 Kit, July 2018 Digital Cut FileJane Alphabet Stickers — White, Puffy Heart Stickers —Summer Mix, Vellum and Wood Veneer Asterisks, Pool Time Wood Veneers, Shine 6″ x 6″ Paper Stack, Noteworthy Puffy Stickers, Noteworthy 6″ x 6″ Paper Stack

I started by opening the July 2018 Digital Cut File in Silhouette Studio and copied the burst in six different sizes on my 12″ x 12″ page. After cutting the page from white cardstock, I backed the paper with various papers from the Noteworthy & Shine 6″ x 6″ paper stacks. I love the look of the fun colors and patterns shining through the cutouts! I was inspired by these colors, so I decided to color coordinate the embellishments on top of the paper.

I added fun family summer photos that I wanted to remember all around the spread. To balance out the bold colors, I added a few of the cute Pool Time Wood Veneers and Wood Veneer Asterisks.

For the title on the spread, I cut up a few tags from the exclusive July kit. I love to add dimension on my layouts, so I popped up the speech bubbles and added a cute sentiment using the Jane Alphabet Stickers in white. I LOVE these alphas!

I adore the final layout—so many fun summer memories documented and recorded! Try using the July 2018 Digital Cut File on your next layout layout. Remember that you can always adjust and personalize them to fit your specific projects and memories. I can’t wait to see what fun moments you record!

Life is Good with Guest Designer Sabrina Poole

Hi! This is Sabrina and I’m back again to share a fun, whimsical 6″ x 8″ spread that I created for my birthday. The colorful puffy hearts and quote bubble journaling tag inspired me to put all the colors from the July 2018 Kit together!

Supplies | July 2018 KitEveryday Goodness Printables, Jane Alphabet Stickers — WhiteVellum and Wood Veneer AsterisksWood Veneer Phrases, Puffy Heart Stickers — Summer MixHello Happy Puffy WordsHighlight StampEveryday Phrases Stamp

For the 4″ x 6″ journaling tag in my spread I decided to make a ‘banner’ using the Hello Happy Puffy Words to anchor the photos to the tag. I changed the photos to black and white so that they wouldn’t take away from the focal photo on the right. I then gave them a slight tilt and added “life is good” to the top. I love how this photo banner adds to the birthday theme! I then added in some stamped asterisks from the Highlight Stamp, Puffy Heart Stickers and the ‘hello there’ die cut from the July Kit to add a pop of orange.

The quote bubble tag was my inspiration, but I didn’t think I could fit all my journaling on it. Then I thought using the Jane Alphabet Stickers would work to put “happy birthday to me 33!’ and that would be a great way to make a title. Instead of “birthday” I went with “BD” so I didn’t have to squeeze the word in. I then put on the finishing touches of two embellishment clusters using Puffy Heart Stickers and more asterisks from the Highlight Stamp.

For the main page, I printed my photo out at 3-1/2″ x 5″ and I decided to use this month’s Everyday Goodness Printables as the tags to layer behind my photo. I used three different tags, tilting them slightly to add dimension and movement. My next step was the most fun! I added in tons of Puffy Heart Stickers, Vellum and Wood Veneer Asterisks, and stamped asterisks and hearts from the Highlight Stamp. I also added in Wood Veneer Phrases, plus two stamped phrases from the Everyday Phrases Stamp that I popped up with foam squares. I also added in the three arrow die cuts from the July Kit. All of these pieces helped me create a fun, striking page to celebrate my birthday!

Thank you for reading!
