Time spent with a busy teenager is definitely a moment to document, and today Andrea Gray is with us to share how she’s journaling a rare and special summer moment, using our July 2018 kit and add-ons! Let’s take a look:
Hey friends, it’s Andrea here! Summertime is often a busy time with busy schedules. In this stage of our lives, my teenage son works, so getting time with him is rare. The page I’m sharing with you today is all about documenting a special afternoon with him that I wasn’t expecting.
Supplies | July 2018 Kit, July Labels, Jane Alpha Stickers—White, Wood Veneer Phrases, Puffy Heart Stickers — Summer Mix, Highlight Stamp, Noteworthy Stamp, Noteworthy 6″ x 6″ Paper Stack
He joined my younger son and I at the pool, on a whim one day when he got off of work early. Some unexpected teenager time was exactly what I needed and definitely needed to document it! I layered some torn up papers from the Noteworthy 6″ x 6″ Paper Stack and made a title of sorts on this full 6″ x 8″ side. Using the new Jane Alphabet Stickers, I spelled his name on a white background and outlined them to keep it subtle.
Supplies that do the journaling for me are so perfect when the words don’t always come to me. I grabbed several of the Wood Veneer Phrases that said all the things I was feeling and stacked them up. Adding color and contrast anywhere I can is always a must!
He’s a pretty cool kid and this photo of him certainly captures that. I wanted to document some things about him at this moment, so I used a open journaling tag to create a list and embellished with the “all the good stuff” die-cut from the July Kit, Puffy Heart Stickers and stamped plus signs from the Noteworthy Stamp.
The Highlight Stamp was so fun to play with here on this tag. I stamped off the first generation of the ink so I could have a lighter version on my tag. I wanted the word “highlight” to be light and the OF TODAY to be dark so I used the first stamp of that ink. I used the rest of the open space for telling the story of him joining us by surprise and finished it off with the fun “let’s have some fun” stamp for contrast and interest!
Thanks for hanging with me today! I hope you found something you can use in your projects and are inspired to make journaling a priority!
Until next time, friends!
