Putting the June Kit in Pockets with Amy Jo Vanden Brink

One great way to use up your kit before our next reveal is to fill pockets! Our monthly products are carefully coordinated to work together, making creating cohesive pockets a breeze! Let’s take a look at how design team member Amy Jo Vanden Brink did that today!

Hello! I’m excited to be back sharing a layout that features the awesome June 2020 kit and extras! This is probably my favourite thing to do with a kit: start with a few pieces, and see how far they take you! For this spread, I originally thought I only had enough small pieces to make a single page layout (the right side) but as I started working on it, the left side came together really easily and was very cohesive with the right side.

Supplies | June 2020 Kit, Summer Snapshots Printables, Chipboard Star Stickers, Puffy Alphabet Banners, Lime Green Puffy Alphabet Stickers, Summer Fun 6 x 8.5 Inch Paper Stack

One of my first steps with a pocket page spread is always finding a small color scheme. Sometimes rainbow works well, but often I look for two main colors, and sometimes add in small bits of a third color to help tie things together. In this case, I had the two shades of blue, and the green. The orange card was a bit of an outlier, but I added the green letters to make it fit in.

When I realized I had enough supplies to make it a double page spread, I looked for those same colors to continue across the page. Motifs help do this too, and the star card helped a lot with both color and theme. Small stars and an orange label helped make the two halves look like they belonged together.

Hopefully, when you go to use your small scraps and the little pieces, you can take those small bits and give them a huge impact like I did here!

Thanks for checking out my project, and I hope you get a chance to use up your June goodies before July releases tomorrow!

Summer Stamping Fun with Stacie Watson

Hey, hey Elle’s Studio friends! It’s Stacie back with you today to share my latest project. I don’t know about you, but I’ve never met a stamp set that I didn’t like. I buy stamp sets ALL THE TIME! They are great to use no matter what type of project you like doing and can be used in a number of different ways. Let me show you how I used the Summer Fun Stamp on this layout:

Supplies | June 2020 Kit, Summer Stickers, Chipboard Star StickersSummer Wood Veneers, Summer Fun 6 x 8.5 Inch Paper StackSummer Fun Stamp

When I sat down to work on this layout, I knew that I wanted to use the round stamp from the Summer Fun Stamp, but I didn’t just want to stamp directly onto the page. So I decided to create a misted background. I started by punching out 3″ circles and using washi tape on the back, I taped them on the layout where I wanted the circles to go. Next, I used a teal spray mist and sprayed the layout making sure to cover all of the circles.

I laid that aside to dry and started on my stamped images. I punched five more circle pieces from watercolor paper and using black ink, I stamped the round stamp from the Summer Fun Stamp. My next step was to color in the image using watercolor pencils and a water brush. I love how these stamped images turned out!

After adhering the stamped circles to the layout, I went through my June 2020 kit and add-ons and added pieces from the June 2020 Kit die cuts, Summer Wood Veneers, Chipboard Star Stickers, and Summer Stickers to three of the empty circles. For the last empty circle, I went back to the Summer Fun Stamp and added the “photo of the day’ stamp. To finish off the layout, I printed out three square photos and backed them with the yellow sunburst paper from the Summer Fun Paper Stack

I love this super simple layout focused on using the newest stamp in the shop: the Summer Fun Stamp. I hope this encourages you to use, try new things with your stamps, and have fun with them! Thank you for stopping by!

How are you using your Summer Fun stamp? To create a card? A layout background? We want to see your projects! Share them on social media using the hashtag #EllesStudio, or in our Elle’s Studio Facebook Group, where like-minded ES fans inspire each other!

Counting Cones and Creating Layouts with Daniela

Hi friends! It’s Daniela with you today to share a brand new summer layout! What’s one of the most important treats in summer? It’s ice cream, of course! On holidays, we have so many ice cream cones that we can’t even count. So, I made a layout using lots of Ice Cream Stickers. Let’s take a look:

Supplies: Magical Memories Acetate Die Cuts, Ice Cream Stickers, Pink Puffy Alphabet Stickers, Puffy Alphabet BannersYellow Puffy Alphabet Stickers,  Summer Fun 6 x 8.5 inch Paper Stack

I started my page by creating a mixed media background. I used different liquid colors in yellow, pink, red and purple. Then I picked the beautiful striped paper from the Summer Fun Paper Stack and cut a big banner which I placed on the mixed media background. The banner holds my picture and I added paper layers behind the picture to add dimension.

The phrase stickers from the Ice Cream Stickers add further interest. All in all, I used four of those to decorate the paper banner. Phrase stickers are a great way to express feelings and moods, and I tend to use them on almost all of my pages.

The ice cream cones are the perfect embellishments for my picture. Just looking at those gives me all the happy summer feelings! In addition to the flat ice cream stickers, I also added some puffy alphabet stickers and an acetate star from the Magical Memories Acetate Die Cuts to add different textures on my project.

I hope you’re all busy making new summer memories right now. Maybe you’ve just taken some pictures in the ice cream parlor. Don’t forget that Elle‘ Studios offers the perfect embellishments for those pictures!

Thanks so much for stopping by today and don’t forget to share what you create using the hashtag #ellesstudio on social media. Have fun using your stash!

Seeing Stars and Printables with Amanda-jayne Baldwin

Hi everyone! Welcome back for more Elle’s Studio inspiration! It’s Amanda here, and today I am shining the product spotlight on our fabulous June 2020 Printables—aptly titled Summer Snapshots. It’s no secret that I LOVE the versatility of digital products, but when combined with the awesome colors and designs that Elle is famous for, well, it needs no explanation! Happy crafting days! But enough chatter, here’s what I created with the June 2020 Printables:

Supplies | June 2020 Kit, Summer Snapshots Printables, Chipboard Star StickersPuffy Alphabet Banners, Summer Fun 6 x 8.5 Inch Paper StackSummer Fun Stamp

Oh my stars! (Quite literally—all those stars!) Such a delicate & divine approach to summer documenting. Perfect for that sweet photo of my darling boy, when he was just a toddler!

Let’s take a closer look:

So soft & dreamy!

As soon as I saw the Summer Snapshots Printables journaling tag with the large star on it, I knew I would create something magical! I individually selected this journaling tag in my Windows software, pressed print, and chose to print 4 copies of it in the 9 x 13cm size, in the Print Pictures screen.

Once printed, I used a craft knife to cut out one of the star shapes, and backed this tag with my photo, creating a fabulous frame and focal point for my photograph.

Such a simple idea, and yet so effective! Love it!

Inspired by this star and a love of fussy cutting, I cut around the remaining 3 stars, ensuring the mint green color outlined each one. I love repetition in design, and I couldn’t help but use all of the stars! I fussy cut the small blue stars from one of the 4″ x 6″ journaling tags from the June 2020 Kit and adhered them with foam tape throughout my layout. I also used that star label die cut to mount one of the sentiments from the Chipboard Star Stickers, too!

The star pattern paper from the Summer Fun Paper Stack didn’t stand a chance, and naturally, I had to feature it. With the presence of so much blue in my page, I revisited the Summer Snapshots Printables. I printed, then cut out the blue ‘Summer Snapshots’ journaling tag. I foam mounted this fussy cut sentiment to create my layout title.

This awesome title then inspired the use of banners throughout my layout. I trimmed the star patterned paper into a pennant style banner, which I then layered my framed photo onto. I also used the gray polka dot paper from the Summer Fun Paper Stack, and crafted an over-sized banner label which I adhered to my white cardstock base. I machine stitched the blue star banner onto the polka dot one, and then continued to adorn my scrapbook page with stars and banners.

For a finished and polished look, I completed my layout with a mix of color-coordinated sequins from my stash, and those amazing Summer Fun Stamp icons and words! I stamped the stars in mint and pale blue inks, and used black ink for my ‘summer tradition’ sentiments.

Who would’ve thought that the pocket tag printable could be so amazingly beautiful and versatile?! I hope I have given you some new ideas on using our wonderful digital products in your everyday documenting, and that you feel inspired!

Thanks so much for visiting!

A Patriotic Page with Melissa Mann

Good Morning! This is Melissa with you today, and I’m excited to share a new project featuring one of my favorite holidays! I always love some patriotic themed scrapbooking supplies and was super excited to put together a red, white, and blue layout using the June 2020 kit and add-ons to share with you all!

Supplies | June 2020 Kit, June 2020 Cut Files, Summer StickersChipboard Star Stickers, Puffy Alphabet Banners, 4th of July Wood Veneer, Summer Wood Veneers, Vacation Wood Veneers, Summer Fun 6 x 8.5 Inch Paper Stack

I really loved the star cut file that was included in the June 2020 Cut Files and cut three square blocks using the file on white and blue card stock. I used these as a placement holder for my photos and journaling along with one 4″ x 6″ journaling tag from the June 2020 Kit.

I wanted to use photos from our July 4th festivities from 2017; I created 5 square photos in Photoshop in various sizes and placed them on three of the blocks. One block I intentionally left just for my journaling tag. There were so many great red, white, and blue embellishments in this month’s kit that it was super easy to pull this theme off. I knew that I wanted to use the great 4th of July Wood Veneer as my BIG title for the layout. I also created smaller subtitles by using the fun white Puffy Alphabet Banners

I built up lots of layers and textures by using three different cardstock backgrounds; I used some blue watercolor paint, vellum, journaling tags, and patterned paper from the Summer Fun Paper Stack to build up the blocks housing my photos and journaling. Another fun tip is to use foam dots to pop up some elements on your layout to create depth on your project.

Thanks for stopping by, and if you are celebrating the 4th tomorrow, I hope you have a fun and safe day!

Using Your Embellishments in New Ways with Kristina Proffitt

Design team member Kristina Proffitt is a self-proclaimed “simple scrapper,” yet she is always looking for ways to mix up the way that she uses her embellishments. Today she’s here to share a few different ideas for adding our new Chipboard Star Stickers to your project, and we know you’ll love the easy ideas that she’s come up with! Let’s take a look.

Hi friends! It’s Kristina here and today I wanted to share with you one of the ways that I love to use any and all kinds of chipboard stickers. Chipboard stickers are some of my most favorite embellishments (maybe you can relate!) and so I was really excited to see the super cute Chipboard Star Stickers in our June release! I love versatile embellishments and while I’ve never been a “reinvent the wheel” or “do the most creative thing with embellishments” I do love utilizing embellishments in new, simple ways that can create different functions and looks on a layout.

Supplies | June 2020 KitSummer StickersChipboard Star Stickers, Summer Wood Veneers, Summer Fun 6 x 8.5 Inch Paper Stack

For this layout, I did three different things with the Chipboard Star Stickers and I wanted to show you just how easy it is to take a simple embellishment and create a new function or look to it even if you’re like me and a pretty simple scrapbooker.

I created this layout on an 8.5″ x 11″ piece of white cardstock. After I decided which photos I wanted to use (and printed them out on a single 4″ x 6″ photo sheet using a digital photo template) I selected the wave patterned paper from the Summer Fun Paper Stack. It was perfect for these photos of a super fun water gun fight! I simply adhered the patterned paper onto the cardstock and then adhered my photo on top of that patterned paper, making sure not to adhere ALL of the photo because I wanted to slip a simple 3″ x 4″ journaling tag behind the photo.

01 | The first thing I did with the Chipboard Star Stickers is layer them. I love the look of them alone, but stack them and you get a super cute and unique embellishment! There are so many different colors and patterns on the sheet that the ideas and looks that you can come up with are really endless. I love the striped yellow Chipboard Star Sticker with the orchid star layered on top. So easy and fun, right? Layer your embellishments!

02 | The second thing that I did with the Chipboard Star Stickers was adding the Summer Stickers to the top of them. How fun do they look with the simple Summer Sticker label on top? So fun, right?! You can do more than just layer the same embellishment on top of one another – you can layer OTHER embellishments like flat stickers on top of your chipboard embellishments, too. I told you this was simple, but cute!

03 | The last way that I used the Chipboard Star Stickers was to create a pull for the journaling tag that I tucked behind my photo. I used the small blue Chipboard Star Sticker and stapled it with my tiny attacher to create a pull tab for the card. It’s sturdy enough to grab to pull the tag out, and I love the look and repetition it gives the layout!

After making sure the tag could fit perfectly behind the photo and I attached the chipboard star pull, I wrote my journaling on the tag, slipped it behind the photo and then used my tiny attacher to secure the sides of the photograph.

To finish my layout, I took more June embellishments and June 2020 Kit die cuts and placed them around the stars at the top. I also adhered the orchid heart tab underneath the patterned paper at the top of the page and stapled the cute “soak up the sun” die cut at the bottom of the photo.

I love how simple this layout is, but yet how fun and summery it is, too! Finding new ways to incorporate and use your embellishments doesn’t have to be hard and you don’t have to reinvent the wheel or spend hours trying to do something new – you can make a simple, yet cool impact by layering embellishments and using them in creative, uncomplicated ways. That’s the kind of memory keeping that I love: it fits my busy Mama lifestyle, but still is fun and turns out super cute!

I hope you pull out some of your own embellishments today and see how you can utilize them in a different way that is simple, but allows a bit of creative freedom to come up with new ways to display them on your projects. It may not be AS fun as a crazy water gun fight in the driveway, but it’s close!
