No Tricks, Just Treats with Kat Benjamin

Hello, friends! It’s Kat with you today to say “Happy Halloween!” and to share a Halloween layout that I recently created.

Supplies | October 2022 KitThankful Die Cuts, Halloween Die Cuts, Tiny Autumn Hearts and Stars Stickers, Fuchsia Jane Alphabet Cardstock Stickers, Jane Tile Alphabet Stickers – Teal, Cool Solids Paper Stack, Warm Solids Paper Stack, Thankful Paper Stack

I pretty much adore this photo of my little family from last Halloween. We dressed up like the monsters from Monsters, Inc. I thought it would be fun to have a large photo of us printed since large photo layouts always pack such a big punch!

I began by using papers from the both the Cool and Warm Solids Paper Stacks as well as the Thankful Paper Stack. I picked colors and patterns that complemented the photo, and even though they aren’t traditional Halloween colors, I love the combo for a Halloween layout.

One of the nice things about large photo layouts is that you really don’t have to add too many embellishments. I kept my design simple and really only had a journaling block and a title block. I typed my journaling on a color-coordinated tag from the October 2022 Kit, matted it and added minimal embellishments to make it pop a bit. I added the “B” for our last name.

For my title block, I used die cuts from both the Thankful and Halloween Die Cuts. I also mixed two different alphabet stickers that both coordinated nicely with the layout’s color scheme.

Thanks for stopping by today! We hope you have a fun and safe Halloween, and we can’t wait to see your spooky cute projects!  Make sure you tag us on social media using the #EllesStudio, or post what you create in our Facebook group!

Sketch Day with Suzanna Lee

Hello there Elle’s Studio fans! Suzanna here today to share with you a sketch-inspired layout created using another fantastic Elle’s Studio sketch and the October kit and add-ons! Take a look at the sketch:

And here’s my interpretation:

Supplies | October 2022 KitOctober 2022 Printables, Thankful Die Cuts, Navy Jane Alphabet Cardstock Stickers, Cozy Tile Chipboard Stickers, Tiny Autumn Hearts and Stars Puffy Stickers, Thankful Paper Stack, Autumn Days StampThe Tiniest Date Stamp, Nesting Tags Metal Die

Fun, right?! I didn’t stray far from the sketch; I still have three tags, the numbers and tickets below, and the goodies in the header to the top right.

As you can see from the photo above, I did go off on my own by creating pockets for the tags to sit in. I would have never thought to put pink and orange together, but that pocket tag from the October Kit, found behind the photo in the third pocket, totally inspired this color combination. Each of the three tags in the sketch are photos on my layout, cut with the Nesting Tags Metal Die and paper from previous paper stacks.

I used the blue numbers from the Thankful Die Cuts as the numbers called for in the sketch, and popped them up on double-sided foam for dimension. I then layered tags from the Thankful Die Cuts and the October Printables on top for a layered look. Each of the numbered tags identifies what is going on in the corresponding photo above.

For my title, I combined the “fun” word from the Cozy Tile Chipboard Stickers with the , Navy Jane Alphabet Cardstock Stickers. I like to have multi-font titles and the change in colors really kept with the bright, colorful play in the layout.

Be sure to check out my YouTube channel for a process video to watch this video come together!

I love how versatile sketches can be—either use them as a creative jumping-off point or as a recipe— it’s all up to you! If you are inspired to create something based on this sketch and share on social media, be sure to tag us #EllesStudio, and don’t forget to post it to our Facebook group, too!

Thanks for stopping in today!

Sweet, Not Spooky with LeeAnne Jones

Hello, everyone! Who’s excited for Halloween!? It’s time for spooky decorations, cute costume parades, and stealing pieces from the hidden candy stash every time you walk by that one cabinet (shhhh). I’m LeeAnne, and I’m back on the Elle’s Studio blog today to share a fun layout using the Halloween-themed products in our latest monthly kit and add-ons

Supplies | September 2022 Kit, October 2022 Kit, Halloween Die Cuts, Thankful Die Cuts, Jane Tile Alphabet Cardstock Stickers – Candy Corn, Autumn Chipboard Stickers, Tiny Autumn Hearts and Stars Stickers, Tiny Shapes and Dots Puffy Stickers – Neutrals, Thankful Paper Stack, Adventure Paper Stack, Warm Solids Paper Stack, Halloween Tabs Stamp, Large Star Jane Alphabet Stamp, Large Jane Alphabet Metal Die, Medium Jane Alphabet Metal Die

The design of this layout was inspired by two things. First, the “Happy Halloween” piece from the Halloween Die Cuts pack inspired the color scheme (and use of stars): black, orange, yellow, and teal. I added that piece to the lower right embellishment cluster on the layout. Second, my daughter’s honey bee costume inspired a repeating shape: the hexagon, reminiscent of a beehive.

Between the Thankful Paper Stack and Adventure Paper Stack, I had perfectly coordinating patterned papers to create and arrange my hexagons. I knew I wanted to add a solid to the mix, too, for highlighting some icons from the Halloween Tabs Stamp, and warm gray from the Warm Solids Paper Stack was perfect. Those smaller hexagons are popped up with foam tape to add dimension. I then used the same warm gray for the title along with the Large Star Jane Alphabet Stamp. (The title itself was the result of a serious brainstorm: How do I combine Halloween and bees? Turns out, the answer is sweet honey and some alliteration.)

A border is always a good idea with plain background paper, and because the hexagons ran off the edge, I added contrast with an inset border. Seeing the spider icon in the Halloween Tabs Stamp made me want to try them hanging out around a simple web border. Rather than a solid line, I made faux-stitch marks with a pen to echo the stitches on the teal patterned paper. And anyway, doesn’t everything look cute with a crafty aesthetic—even spider webs?

The three big embellishment clusters feature items from the September and October kits, the Halloween Die Cuts, and various sticker sets available in the Elle’s Studio shop. To maintain a consistent color palette, I was careful to select an array of black, orange, yellow, and teal embellishments, as well as a variety of sizes. I also intentionally left out the scarier items. No skulls or tombstones for this cute layout!

For the text, I layered two journaling tags. The bottom layer is the tone-on-tone orange spiderweb from the October 2022 Kit, and the top layer is the “taking it one day at a time” tag from the September 2022 Kit—with the sentiment trimmed off. I liked that it was the lightened version of the teal, so it popped, and it also matched the “No Tricks Just Treats” embellishment (which would have been an outlier otherwise.)

Well, that’s it for this time! I hope this layout inspires you to document your Halloween memories. When you do, share with the hashtag #ellesstudio on Instagram, or in our Facebook group! We can’t wait to see! Thank you!

Documenting Home with Guest Designer Shu-Wen Tham

We are happy to welcome back Shu-Wen Tham back to the blog today to share her second project this month using the October kit and add-ons! Just like her last project, this one is interactive and uses the pieces from our latest products to create the perfect page in her 6 x 8-inch album! Don’t miss her process video, so that you can create a fun project to document your home stories, too!

It’s Shu-Wen here with my second guest designer project this month! I’ve always loved Elle’s Studio’s simple and elegant cut files, and when I saw the set of house cut files in this month’s October 2022 Cut Files, I knew I had to create an interactive page with it! And the house-themed pieces in this month’s kit and add-ons were perfect to document the prompt “your favorite spot at home” in my “Me, Myself & I” 6 x 8-inch album (prompts from @MyLittleJournal on Instagram). Read on to find out how I made this interactive page and be sure to find the process video at the bottom of the post!

Supplies | October 2022 Kit, October Labels, October 2022 Cut Files, Thankful Die CutsChipboard House StickersCozy Tile Chipboard StickersThankful Paper Stack, Everyday Tabs Stamp

To start off, I used one of the house cut files in the October 2022 Cut Files to cut out a house shape using red patterned paper from the Thankful Paper Stack. I made sure to size it so that it was more than 4 inches wide, because I’m going to be hiding a few 4″ tall journaling tags behind this house! Then, I pieced together two more pieces of patterned paper from the Thankful Paper Stack to make a page that is 7″ wide by 8.25″ tall, which is the size of a page outside the page protector in my 6 x 8-inch album. This page is going to be left-sided page in my album, so I made sure to adhere the woodgrain patterned paper to the right of the 6 x 8-inch words patterned paper. I used some of the remaining woodgrain patterned paper to back the door portion of the house shape, then used a large piece of vellum to back the entire house, giving the windows a bit of a frosted look.

Next up, I picked out two journaling tags from the October Kit. I chose the lined journaling tag with four houses on top to hold the journaling that I printed onto clear sticker paper, as the houses fit perfectly with my cozy home theme. Then, I printed out a photo to fit into the tag-shaped area on the green journaling tag. My plan was for these journaling tags to remain hidden behind the house with a brad and swivel out, so I attached two of the October Labels onto the backs of these journaling tags to function as pull-tabs to allow me to pull these elements out. I stamped a couple of sentiments from the Everyday Tabs Stamp onto the exposed parts of those labels and secured everything together with a brad through the bottom left corner of the house, passing through the corners of the two journaling tags, all the way through to the back of my 7 x 8.25-inch base. To stop my journaling tags from swiveling too far and falling out from the bottom of the house, I adhered a few of the houses from the Chipboard House Stickers along the bottom right edge of the house, keeping the bottom shut and serving as a decorative element along the bottom of my page. I finished off the bottom half of this house by adhering a heart chipboard sticker from the Chipboard House Stickers onto the center of my door.

To prevent the house shape from falling forwards and off the page, I adhered the top right portion along the roof line onto my base page, making sure not to put adhesive along the left roof line (otherwise, the journaling cards will have a hard time swiveling out from behind the house!). Next, to decorate the top of the house, I cut out the “this is my favorite” orange heart from one of the journaling tags in the October Kit and adhered it to the top right side of the roof. The long shape reminded me of a chimney, so I adhered several chipboard hearts from the Chipboard House Stickers in a cluster above the large orange heart to make it look like they were coming out of the orange heart. And finally, I adhered the word “home” from the Cozy Tile Chipboard Stickers near the top of my house.

I love how my interactive page turned out, especially how well the colors in the October Kit match with the autumnal patterned papers from the Thankful Paper Stack!

Be sure to watch this interactive page come together in my process video below, and thanks for stopping by!

The Fall Faves List with Marsha Farris

Hey, Elle’s Studio friends! It’s Marsha here today, and I’m excited to share a fun traveler’s notebook spread I created for my fall album! The new Thankful Die Cuts, paired with the October kit and add-ons were perfect for this layout documenting my fall faves last year.

Supplies | October 2022 KitThankful Die CutsChipboard House Stickers, Tiny Autumn Hearts and Stars Puffy Stickers, Autumn Days Stamp, Parker Alphabet Stamp, Hazel Alphabet Stamp

To begin the layout, I trimmed white cardstock to use as the background for my spread. I selected number die cuts from the Thankful Die Cuts to begin the title. Since there were no single zeros in the die cuts, I trimmed the “0” from the “10” die cut to use in the title. I love the look of mixed styles for the numbers! To complete the title, I stamped “Fall Faves” with the Parker Alphabet Stamp and navy ink, overlapping the letters to provide additional interest. Next, I printed my photos and selected the numbers one through five to coordinate with the pictures. I mixed up the numbers to include each style found in the die cuts.

I chose labels from the same die cuts to pair with the photos. The Hazel Alphabet Stamp was the perfect-sized font to add a bit of stamping on each label. I stamped a leaf from the Autumn Days Stamp and layered it over a circle die cut from the October Kit. Then, I selected stars from the Thankful Die Cuts to add to some of the labels. I had fun looking through the October Kit for die cuts and tags with sentiments or icons that would work with my layout. I trimmed a travel coffee cup from a pocket tag and layered it over a die cut number and also added a “pumpkin spice season” die cut along the edge of my photo.

To further embellish the spread, I added more die cuts from the October Kit to coordinate with each photo. I also stamped a heart with the Autumn Days Stamp and navy ink, used a circle punch to trim it out, and layered it over one of the photos. To complete the spread, I added a few stars and hearts from the Chipboard House Stickers and the Tiny Autumn Hearts and Stars Puffy Stickers.

Thank you so much for stopping by today! I hope I have given you some ideas for using the new, beautiful Thankful Die Cuts! Happy fall crafting!

Best Friends Forever with Aimee Mertell

Hello, Elle’s Studio friends! It’s Aimee here with you today sharing a travelers notebook-style layout using the new October kit and add-ons! Let’s take a look at what I’ve got for you today.

Supplies | Thankful Die CutsSincere Sentiments Best of Friends StampSincere Sentiments Best of Friends Metal DieSincere Sentiments Best of Friends Add-on StampSincere Sentiments Best of Friends Add-on Metal Die

I really wanted to focus on the new Sincere Sentiments products that were released earlier in the month. This release was geared toward cardmakers, but I wanted to showcase how they can be used on a traditional scrapbook layout, or in this case in a traveler’s notebook. The stamps and dies are totally universal and absolutely adorable!

To start, I created a big, bold title by die cutting the words “best friends forever” from the Sincere Sentiments Best of Friends Stamp, popping them up on foam dots for dimension. I also added large stamped die cut flowers from the Sincere Sentiments Best of Friends Add-on Stamp behind my title in a pretty coral color.

I added a photo of me and my daughter, a.k.a my best friend, down below my large title with a fun stamped sentiment. On the right side of the layout, I wanted to do a list of sorts explaining just a few of the reasons why my girl is totally best friend material!

I used the navy blue numbers from the Thankful Die Cuts to make my list, and I love how they complement the colors in my stamped title. To make sure both sides of my layout are balanced, I added more coral die cut flowers peeking out behind the numbers, which really gave the spread a cohesive look.

I typed up my journaling on a typewriter and I couldn’t be more in love with the results. This was such a fun and easy page! While the Sincere Sentiments: Best of Friends release from Elle’s Studio might have been created with cardmakers in mind, that doesn’t mean they aren’t also perfectly suited for your other projects. I hope you have been inspired today to make a layout about YOUR best friend—human, furry or otherwise! Happy creating!

Giving Thanks in Pockets with Kim Chaffin

Hello friends! It’s Kim Chaffin, and I’m here with a pocket page layout documenting Thanksgiving 2021. This was a special holiday for us because it was the first time we hosted the entire family at our house. We’re hoping to do it again this year, so it was important that I documented this day before this year’s Thanksgiving came around! Let’s take a look at my project!

Supplies | October 2022 KitThankful Die Cuts, Chipboard House Stickers, Autumn Tabs Stamp

When I saw the large, blue numbers in the Thankful Die Cuts, I knew immediately how I wanted to use them! I love to use numbers to connect photos in a layout to the corresponding journaling. In this case, I documented three things for which I was thankful.

Although this is a pocket layout, it is paired with a large photo of our entire family. This shines a spotlight on a focal image. Additionally, the pockets make it simple to organize coordinating photographs and journaling. The pocket tag with the houses gave me the perfect place to record my three reasons to be thankful.

I used the “Thankful” tag from the Thankful Die Cuts as my title on the large photograph. A chipboard house sticker paired with a heart helped to create unity throughout both pages. I added a bit of stamping and a rik rak tie, and my title tag was complete. I adhered it with pop dots to give it a bit of added dimension.

I just love the Autumn Days Stamp! There are so many fun options!

I finished the layout with a couple of the chipboard stickers and a silverware die cut from the kit, which I layered with the blue number die cuts. These colors coordinated wonderfully with my autumn stories and photos! I know that I will get a lot of mileage from the October kit and add-ons this season, and I know you will too. I can’t wait to see what you create. Happy scrapbooking!

Autumn Days with Junell Kruzel

Hello everyone! It’s Junell on the blog today and I’m sharing a layout I created with the Autumn Days Stamp. It’s absolutely perfect for the season!

Supplies | October 2022 Kit, Chipboard House Stickers, Cozy Tile Chipboard Stickers, Black Puffy Alphabet Stickers, Autumn Days Stamp

I really wanted a border of leaves on each side of my layout to look as though they were fluttering down from the top, so that’s where I started. I selected a few fall colors from my Distress Oxides, along with a blue color to compliment all the blue in my photos. The leaves in this stamp set are just so adorable! Then, I hand-drew the dots with a black pen to connect them.

I printed my pictures and added layers underneath using tags from the October 2022 Kit. My favorite is the one with the line of houses across the top. It was perfect for my neighborhood stroll story. I also added the Chipboard House Stickers as the perfect embellishment!

To create my title, I used the Cozy Tile Chipboard Stickers. I was able to create the word ‘Autumn’ by pulling the letters from some of the other words, and I love how it turned out.

I love creating fall-inspired layouts, and Elle’s Studio has the perfect products for doing just that! Thank you so much for reading, and I cannot wait to see what everyone creates with this amazing stamp! Happy fall!

An October Story with Diane Dziuban

Hi, everyone! It’s Diane here, and oday I am sharing a 9 x 12-inch pocket-page layout I made using the gorgeous October kit and add-ons. My husband and I recently went on a fun hike, and I knew this kit would be perfect for those photos! There is a lot of blue and green in my photos and this kit worked so well with them. Not many changing leaves here in South Texas yet, but the weather is definitely cooling off and we are wanting to spend more time outside.

Supplies | October 2022 KitThankful Die Cuts, Chipboard House StickersCozy Tile Chipboard Stickers, Navy Puffy Alphabet Stickers, The Tiniest Date Stamp, Autumn Days Stamp, Autumn Tabs Stamp

The first thing I decided to do was make a fun title using the striped tag from the October Kit, as well as the Cozy Tile Chipboard Stickers, Navy Puffy Alphabet Stickers and the Autumn Days Stamp and the Autumn Tabs Stamp. You can also spy the new stamp set, The Tiniest Date Stamp, on here as well.  I know I will be getting lots of use out of this one!  I really like how the 4 x 6-inch tag came out! This set the tone for the mostly blue and green layout.

I added a tag from the Thankful Die Cuts set over the beautiful green pocket tag from the October Kit or a fun, layered look. This is where I added the journaling for the photos. Short and simple journaling, as the photos tell so much of the story.

I just love how the monthly kit and add-ons coordinate so well and help me get my memories documented! A fun day, in a gorgeous setting, now in my album and ready to share! Happy crafting!
