A Mountain Hike Traveler’s Notebook Spread with Marsha Farris

Hey, Elle’s Studio friends! This is Marsha, and I’m excited to share a traveler’s notebook layout using the amazing July 2021 kit and add-ons! For my spread today, I chose to document travel photos from a mountain hike with my husband. The release this month was absolutely perfect for this outdoor adventure layout!

Supplies | July 2021 Kit, Cardstock Die Cut Tags, Adventure Chipboard Stickers, Chipboard Speech Bubble Stickers, Tiny Shapes and Dots Puffy Stickers – Neutrals, The Great Outdoors Wood VeneersAdventure Paper Stack, Summertime Tabs Stamp, The Great Outdoors StampFrom Sketch to Finish Vol. 6 StampNesting Tags Metal Die, Everyday Tabs Metal Die

I began the spread by printing my photos and arranging them on a trimmed ledger patterned paper from the Adventure Paper Stack. I used the awesome new Nesting Tags Metal Die to cut out a variety of tags from the same paper stack. I had fun mixing and matching the patterns and colors for the tags and tag reinforcers! I added these tags, along with a tag from the Cardstock Die Cut Tags to the spread and used them to create layers behind my photos.

Next, I stamped a few tabs using the Summertime Tabs Stamp and cut them out with the Everyday Tabs Metal Die. I added them to the page, lifting the edges for additional texture. Then, I embellished around my photos with the Adventure Chipboard Stickers and neutral Tiny Shapes and Dots Puffy Stickers. I also stamped the word “love” onto one of the tags using the From Sketch to Finish Vol. 6 Stamp and black ink.

For the other side of the spread, I trimmed a piece of white cardstock to use as the background. I created the title using The Great Outdoors Wood Veneers and stamped the word “together” using the From Sketch to Finish Vol. 6 Stamp and black ink. I love the font included in this stamp and just had to use it on my layout! To complete the title area, I stamped a few trees from The Great Outdoors Stamp and dark green ink. I also added stickers from the Chipboard Speech Bubble Stickers, Adventure Chipboard Stickers and a half-circle die cut tag from the July Kit.
To complete the layout, I layered more tags and added them to the bottom of the page. I typed my journaling, trimmed it into strips, and layered it over the tags. I also added another stamped tab and neutral Tiny Shapes and Dots Puffy Stickers to complete the cluster.

I hope you have found some inspiration for using the July 2021 kit and add-ons in your traveler’s notebook! Thanks so much for stopping by today! Happy creating!

Go Outside with Guest Designer Nenascrap

Hello, Elle’s Studio fans! Today we are excited to welcome our new guest to the blog, Delphine, also known as NenaScrap! Delphine’s designs include plenty of layers and texture, and if you head to her Instagram feed, you’ll see that there’s really nothing that she can’t create with pretty paper and embellishments. We think you’ll love what she’s sharing with us today, using our newest products! Let’s take a look!

Hi, Elle’s Studio friends! I’m Nenascrap and I’m so excited to be a creative guest this July! The Elle’s Studio products are just amazing and I am so lucky to be creating with the July 2021 Kit and add-ons. I love the colors—they reflect our busy family life perfectly and the ones in the July 2021 Kit are beautiful.

When I saw the rainbow paper from the Adventure Paper Stack, I immediately wanted to create a page featuring it, and I knew I would use the lines of color to write my journaling!

Supplies | July 2021 Kit, Navy Cardstock Label Stickers, Jane Tile Alphabet Cardstock Stickers – Navy, Chipboard Speech Bubble Stickers, Tiny Shapes and Dots Puffy Stickers – Warm TonesTeal Parker Acetate Alphabet Stickers, Acetate Star Stickers, Adventure Paper Stack, The Great Outdoors Stamp, Nesting Tags Metal Die

I created a border with a notebook edge punch at the top and placed the paper in the center of a white cardstock background.

I chose two photos from our first family outing after the lockdown that ended in May in France. These happy photos fit perfectly with the colorful and outdoor theme of the July Kit and add-ons. I matted the photos with other patterns from the Adventure Paper Stack. I like to add volume to my pages, so I mounted my photos on cardboard and adhered using 3D adhesive foam.

I positioned my photos on the rainbow paper by shifting them a little. I slipped the orange and yellow tag from the July 2021 Kit at the top and stamped the date on it. I love these tags and the graphic nature of them. You can use them anywhere and I can’t wait to incorporate them into my pocket pages, too!

I used one of the Nesting Tags Metal Die pieces to create a tag that I tucked under my photos, which created the perfect place for my title.

I made my title with the fabulous Teal Parker Acetate Alphabet Stickers and navy Jane Tile Alphabet Cardstock Stickers. Both are a must have, don’t you think?

Now on to my favorite part, the stamps! I had a blast with The Great Outdoors Stamp. I love the little labels that I stamped in yellow and tucked in where my photos met. I completed my title with the phrase “Let’s Go Hiking” and stamped the three trees in black at the base of my journaling to add contrast.

I finished my layout with the embellishments: die-cuts from the July Kit, Chipboard Speech Bubble Stickers, label, puffy and acetate stickers.

For a final touch of contrast, I added splashes of black ink to the background.

Watch me create this page at my YouTube video below!

I hope you enjoyed my first project this month! Thanks a lot to Elle and Meghann for the opportunity to share this month of July with you—it’s a dream come true!

Hi, I’m Delphine, aka NenaScrap, coming to you from Brittany, France !

You can always find me creating colorful mini-albums, layouts and project life pages. I’ve tried a lot of creative activities, but I fell in love with scrapbooking. It allows me to document my family life and, trust me, with 5 children there’s always something happening! My motto is, “A day without creating is a day wasted.”

Find Delphine’s beautiful designs on her Instagram feed and YouTube channel until she joins us again later this month! Thank you so much for guesting for us, Delphine, and sharing this fun layout!

Complementing Colors with Aimee Mertell

Hi there Elle’s Studio friends! It’s Aimee here today sharing with you a 9 x 12 inch pocket page using the July 2021 Kit and add-ons. It is not often that I see many scrapbook collections offering the color orange. Possibly, it doesn’t get much attention because it is so bright and maybe you don’t know what colors to pair with such a striking shade. I want to walk you through how I tackled the color orange and LOVE IT. Let’s take a look!

Supplies | July 2021 Kit, Chipboard Speech Bubble Stickers, Navy Puffy Alphabet Stickers, Adventure Paper Stack, Summertime Tabs Stamp, Mini Dated Stamp, Nesting Tags Metal Die

There’s no doubt about it— this pocket page is striking to say the least. It is out of my comfort zone, but I think that’s part of the fun. So in order for this to work, I went back to the basics of color theory and took a look at the old color wheel. I also took my photos into consideration and saw that my photos have predominantly primary colors in them: red, blue and yellow. The color wheel shows us that orange and blue, red and green are complementary colors, meaning they lie across from each other on the color wheel. This is perfect because the July Kit is already full of all those complimentary colors. Easy peasy right?!

For my title tag, I layered the tag-shaped 3 x 4 inch tag on top of a rather colorful 4 x 6 inch tag to hold a place for my title. I went with, “Schools Out” spelled out using the Navy Puffy Alphabet Stickers to really make those orange colors pop. I strategically stuck to blue and red and their complementary colors when picking out my journaling tags and even decided to make my own using the new Nesting Tags Metal Die. I absolutely love these dies and especially love how it enables you to choose the color of the reinforcer so you can mix it up for a fun look. I used an orange patterned paper from the Adventure Paper Stack to cut a large tag and adorned it with a navy blue reinforcer and a blue die cut from the July Kit

I used one of the orange journaling tags to write up a bit about our end of school ice cream date and I love how it helps to create a diagonal of orange from the top left, down to the bottom right.

Moving down to the bottom of the page, I noticed that my son’s ice cream cup is bright red, so I felt confident adding a green speech bubble from the Chipboard Speech Bubble Stickers and the blue in his shirt allowed me to embellish with a fitting orange phrase die cut from the July Kit. Playing off of brightly-colored objects in your photos themselves can be a really useful tool in creating a bold and colorful spread.

If you’re creating something colorful, or working with a color out of your comfort zone, remember that you can always double-check the color wheel, or if your photos are less than complimentary, you can also change them into black and white. I find that Elle’s Studio kits are always easy to create with and have a perfectly curated color scheme as it is, but we all gravitate towards our comfort colors! I challenge you to step outside of your color safe haven this month like I did and make something fun. Happy crafting!

Show us how you use all of the beautiful colors in our  July 2021 Kit and add-ons when your kit arrives! Post on Instagram using the hashtag #EllesStudio, or share in our Elle’s Studio Facebook Group, where Elle’s Studio fans gather!

Stamping Fun with Suzanna Lee

Did you pick up any of the July stamps yesterday? There are 4, yes, FOUR new stamp sets! Each one of them is AH-mazing! I mean, it’s Elle’s Studio stamps we’re talking here. Of course they are amazing, right?! And, of course, you need all four sets. I can already foresee how two in particular will become a staple in my collection: Summertime Tabs and The Great Outdoors. Mind you, I’ve used all four at least once on every layout I’ve created, so that just tells you how fantastic there are! Today’s layout uses three of the four on an outdoor adventure layout.

Supplies | July 2021 Kit, Navy Cardstock Label Stickers, Adventure Chipboard Stickers, Navy Puffy Alphabet Stickers, Dark Green Puffy Alphabet Stickers, Adventure Paper Stack, Summertime Tabs Stamp, The Great Outdoors Stamp, Adventure Notes Stamp, Nesting Tags Metal Die, Everyday Tabs Metal Die

Stamps as borders. I do this a lot! Here I have used both a pattern and words to create a “header” and “footer” for my page; the map contour pattern stamped on repeat in brown ink and varying phrases from the Summertime Tabs Stamp in blue. They create a striking border, don’t you think?

In the photo above, I used the tab stamp, in green, from the Summertime Tabs Stamp with the coordinating Everyday Tabs Metal Die, to create a tab for the 3 x 4 inch pocket tag that houses the beginning of my journaling. As I already have used all the relevant words in my borders, I thought this was a great place for the date.

I’m not going to lie, this next use, it’s my favorite. It just takes this project to the next level! Make your own washi! Did you hear the little squeal I let out? I have seen contour washi all over the memorykeeping world lately and am just too darn cheap to pay the shipping for a roll of washi and know myself well enough to know that I can’t not fill my cart. Now, with this amazing The Great Outdoors Stamp, you can make your very own!

All you need is some Japanese Rice paper, the stamp, a stamp block and ink. Oh! And double sided tape. Ink up your contour map stamp (I used VersaFine brown) from The Great Outdoors Stamp and stamp on the rice paper. Repeat as often as you would like. Secure one sticky side of the double-sided tape to the back side of the stamped rice paper. Cut into strips as thick or thin as you would like and voila! Contour map washi! I used a light watercolor wash without ink bleed. Don’t you just LOVE how this turned out?

Above that homemade washi strip is another use of a stamp; the “good times” phrase from the Adventure Notes Stamp. These phrases are a perfect compliment to the outdoor theme of the kit as well as for generic phrases. You could house subtitles in them, or dates—you name it!

We’ll go with one more look at the finished layout with all that subtle stamping using three of the July stamps for you. I do have a process video over on my personal channel if you’re interested in watching how this layout comes together!

See you again soon!

Finishing off June in Full Color with Jody Compton

Hello crafty friends! It’s Jody here today sharing pocket pages created using scraps from the beautiful June 2021 kit and add-ons. I only had two full sheets of paper left In the Good Times Paper Stack by the end of this month. I used the black and white patterned paper for my 6 x 8 inch page and the red with white polka dotted pattern to back two of my pictures opposite. Take a look:

Supplies | June 2021 KitJune Labels, Jane Tile Alphabet Cardstock Stickers – Navy, Navy Parker Acetate Alphabet Stickers, Good Times Paper Stack

I have no idea how I have not used the gorgeous Hello Summer 3 x 4 inch tag yet, but I knew it would be a great first pocket! The bright yellow is so cheerful and happy! The die cuts in the June Kit are so fab to layer, too.

The rainbow striped 3 x 4 inch tag was another good choice to use. The vertical lines of color help move your eyes from top to bottom. Plus, it was the perfect space to add a cute June Label in orange and a June Kit die cut!

I absolutely love the Navy Parker Acetate Alphabet Stickers. They are the perfect size and super sticky! Make sure you are 100% certain before sticking them down! I love to mix fonts, so I also used the navy Jane Tile Alphabet Cardstock Stickers to create my fun title! To finish the spread, I tucked scraps of the Good Times Paper Stack in coordinating colors to make the picture pop and create a cohesive double page spread.

Thank you so much for your time. I had fun sharing these pocket pages with you! Share your creativity using the #ellesstudio hashtag on Instagram and in the Elle’s Studio Facebook Group!

Digital Delight with Nicole Kerr

Hello crafty friends! It’s Nicole here and today’s blog post is going to be all about digitals! Digital elements are not only a great addition to any page, but they are excellent page starters. Today I’m using the June Print and Cut Labels, Celebrate This Day Printables and the June Cut Files to create a spread in my travelers notebook documenting a day at the beach!

Supplies | June 2021 KitJune 2021 Cut FilesJune 2021 Print and Cut Labels, Celebrate This Day Printables, June Labels, Summer Label Stickers, Acetate Star Stickers, Cork Labels, Tiny Shapes and Dots Puffy Stickers – Warm Tones, Tiny Shapes and Dots Puffy Stickers – Cool Tones, Good Times Paper Stack

I began by printing the circle elements from the Celebrate This Day Printables at 2″ and laying them out in a pattern on my right page. I then added several of the June 2021 Print and Cut Labels to fill in the gaps. I chose the “date/ place” and “currently” labels to document where we were and what we were doing. These labels are an excellent size for adding notes to any project! I used a yellow label from the June Labels to add a small amount of journaling as well. I then added a few Summer Label Stickers, some popped on foam adhesive, die cuts from the June Kit, Acetate Stars, Tiny Shapes and Dots Puffy Stickers and Cork Labels. I wanted to fill in as much of the white area as possible.

Because the right side of my spread was very busy, I designed the left side of my spread to be very simple. I focused this side of my spread on my photos. I chose three photos of my boys swimming in a very cold ocean and sized them all to be the same. To add a pop of color and bring the two pages together, I used the arrow with the heart from the June 2021 Cut Files and cut them using the striped paper from the Good Times Paper Stack. I chose areas of the paper that coordinated with the colors on the right page to give it a cohesive look. I added a few puffy stickers to finish the spread.

As you can see, this spread came together very easily thanks to the versatility of digital cut files and printables! I hope I’ve inspired you to create your next project focusing on the digital files you have paired with some of our fabulous products! Thanks so much for joining me today! Until next time, happy scrapping!

Did you know that if you’re a monthly kit subscriber, you can download our coordinating monthly digitals for free? It’s just another perk to subscribing! Pause and Reflect on Your Story with Patricia Roebuck

Hi and welcome, Elle’s Studio friends! It’s Patricia with you, and today’s post focuses on creating pocket pages using the Elle’s Studio June 2021 Kit and extras. No matter what season of life you are in, or what you’re currently documenting, I hope to inspire you to “pause and reflect” on your own journey at this this halfway mark of documenting 2021.

Supplies | June 2021 Kit, Jane Tile Alphabet Cardstock Stickers – Navy, Acetate Star Stickers, Puffy Banners and Border Stickers, Tiny Shapes and Dots Puffy Stickers – Warm Tones, Celebrate Summer Stamp, From Sketch to Finish Vol. 6 Stamp

Lately, my documenting style has changed because of the season of life I am in. I love to get all the details in a memory planner format, and then highlight stories in my pocket pages. 2020 was filled with change, and now 2021 is halfway through, so it pushed me to stop and take a few photos all about myself and do some heartfelt journaling.

Taking photos these days for me takes more effort to stop and remember. Having my phone and especially taking pictures at work could jeopardize my job, so discretion has to be used. I find ways though—my feet and my apron inspired me to take a photo of my exercise shoes, and then to include one selfie of going on a walk. I don’t have every photo of both jobs or my life here, but these photos sparked the emotion I wanted. I used the June Kit die cuts on the two top photos, and then continued applying the Acetate Star Stickers, Celebrate Summer Stamp, Puffy Banners and Borders and Tiny Shapes and Dots Puffy Stickers to the second photo. I left the bottom photo as-is. I usually type my journaling, but I wanted to have my handwriting on this one. This halfway mark of 2021 has me stepping out of my comfort zone, and in the midst of doubting myself and constant changes, “Show Up” spelled using the navy Jane Tile Alphabet Cardstock Stickers was a perfect title.

I love this tag on the right side from the June kit.  I filled the labels on the tag with sentiments from the From Sketch to Finish Vol. 6 Stamp. I finished the bottom photo with the class stamp, the Celebrate Summer Stamp, and an Acetate Star Sticker. All of the sentiments capture and help to express the theme for this project.

Each one of these photos I could create an entirely different layout and story, but together they create the emotions of the challenges in my life and a perfect benchmark to evaluate the halfway mark of 2021. I hope this inspires you to do as I have done, or to have a meaningful photo of each family member (pets too!) and then document about them. I think this is a great way for everyone including us to stop, pause, and document. Please share with us on social media using the hashtag #EllesStudio!
