Encouraging Yourself with Aimee Mertel

Hi there Elle’s Studio friends! It’s Aimee here with you today walking you through this fun travelers notebook layout using the new August 2021 Kit and Extras. I have affectionately titled this layout “note to self” and you will see why soon— let’s take a look.

Supplies | August 2021 KitProud Of You Die CutsLight Teal Cardstock Basic Shape Stickers, Chipboard Circle Stickers, Good Times Paper Stack, Lizzy Alphabet Stamp, Open Here StampYou Got This StampPocket Envelope Metal Die

With this layout I wanted to tell a more personal story about struggling creatively, floundering in my process and feeling conflict and pressure to capture ALL the memories in a beautiful way. Oftentimes, I feel behind in memory keeping, especially when it comes to documenting older memories and stories, which can be an overwhelming feeling. I wanted to conceal my journaling for this project since it is more private. What better way than to tuck it into an envelope? The new Pocket Envelope Metal Die made it easy to cut out an envelope in a coordinating color and pattern.

The patterned paper I chose happens to be from the Good Times Paper Stack and I just love how Elle’s Studio papers can always be mixed and matched even with newer releases. Next, I typed up my journaling on a trimmed 3 x 4 inch tag from the August 2021 Kit and tucked it safely inside my envelope. I used the Open Here Stamp and coordinating circle die to cut and stamp out an, “open here” letter seal for the outside of the envelope.

The left side of the layout houses my photo of a desk shot of an older pocket page project I have been meaning to catch up on—and finally took the plunge on completing. I used stars from the Proud Of You Die Cuts pack to embellish and stamps from the You Got This Stamp to give the layout context. The “currently on my desk” stamp is one I foresee myself using a ton as a scrapbooker!

On the right side, I had a ton of fun stamping sentiments in labels from the August Kit, combining them with the Chipboard Circle Stickers to create a truly unique page. I added a teal tab from the Light Teal Cardstock Basic Shape Stickers to the top for some interest and even more interaction.

I absolutely love the upbeat look of this spread and love even more, that I was able to hide my, “note to self” so that it would not detract from the overall mood of my layout. This is just one of the many ways to use the Pocket Envelope Metal Die. Tell me, do you ever write encouraging notes to yourself or add them to your projects? I hope I have inspired you today to give it a try. Until next time, happy creating!

A Rainbow of Pockets with Amanda Baldwin

Hi, Elle’s Studio friends! It’s Amanda here, and today I am shining the product spotlight on the brand new Pocket Envelope Metal Die! As the name suggests, this fabulous die set is designed to create envelopes that fit inside a pocket page album—awesome, right? However, like all Elle’s Studio products, they have been expertly designed to meet the needs of a variety of crafters!

This die set is great for creating cards, happy mail packages, and even mini albums! For today’s post, I wanted to share how I used the Pocket Envelope Metal Die to create an interactive, hidden journaling scrapbook page! Such a versatile little die!

Supplies | August 2021 Kit, Proud Of You Die Cuts, Chipboard Circle Stickers, Acrylic Stars, Adventure Paper Stack, Good Times Paper Stack, Pocket Envelope Metal Die

Oh, how cool is this?! Rainbow envelopes for the win! Let’s take a better look..

Such a bright and fun page, and this is only enhanced by the colorful patterned papers from both the Adventure and Good Times Paper Stack. I organized my pocket envelopes into rainbow order, and labelled each one with the coordinating day of the week Chipboard Circle Stickers.

I’ve also hidden a little note and or story for my son inside each of the envelopes—kind of like an advent calendar with a surprise waiting inside! I love hidden journaling, and this is such a simple and effective way to incorporate more of it into my memorykeeping pages. It’s also really fun for my son to play and interact with his albums and find new joy in past memories, too!

In true ROYGBIV style, I ended the rainbow with a violet envelope. I tucked this one under my son’s photograph, because he is the gold at the end of my rainbow! I also sprinkled some of the Acrylic Stars through my photo cluster in rainbow order, too.

Favorite indeed! This boy has such an amazing spirit and heart. He is our happy and our “good times.” The Proud Of You Die Cuts communicated this sentiment perfectly!

Unlike the other pocket envelopes, I left the purple one open revealing the note card tucked inside. This is designed so my son would see it, and be encouraged to pull out the card. I embellished his photo cluster with a mix of die cuts and chipboard stickers but my favorite adornment is that fussy cut pie chart tag from the August Kit. So cool!

Everything about this page is so carefully considered, and is so beautiful in it’s simplicity. And all because of one very small, but very versatile Pocket Envelope Metal Die! What will you create with yours? The possibilities are endless!

I hope my project inspired you today! Shop the Pocket Envelope Metal Die HERE and see more inspiration with it from our amazing design team—you’ll be so glad you did! Happy crafting!

Pattern Play with Guest Danielle Dunlop

We are so excited to welcome our August guest to the blog today, Danielle Dunlop! To say that Danielle is talented in many areas is an understatement! Take a look at her Instagram feed and you’ll see that Danielle creates colorful and beautifully designed cards and layouts with gorgeous details, and the project that she is sharing with us today is no exception. Let’s take a look at how Danielle used our August 2021 kit and add-ons!

Hi Elle’s Studio friends! It’s Danielle with you today and I’m thrilled to be a guest designer here this month. The August kit is filled with beautiful colors that you can use for almost every subject and as always there are some amazing matching stamp sets available. I decided to make a layout about my first day paddle boarding a couple weeks ago.

Supplies | August 2021 Kit, August LabelsProud Of You Die Cuts, Chipboard Circle Stickers, Positive Vibes Wood VeneersSmile Wood Veneers, Good Times Paper Stack, Lined Labels Stamp, You Got This Stamp

It was the You Got This Stamp that started the design of my layout. Besides all the encouraging sentiments in this set, there is also a half circle solid and striped stamp. With these stamps I created a border on the right side of my page. The Chipboard Circle Stickers also have half circles and I used these to highlight some of the stamped circles.

I used some of the striped half-circles of the Chipboard Circle Stickers on the left of my layout to repeat the pattern and to balance it out.

The teal paper in the Good Times Paper Stack is my favorite and it has some big sentiments on it already, so my layout didn’t need a title on it’s own. I added the Proud Of You Die Cuts, August Labels and die cuts from the August Kit.

I always love to add sentiment stamps! On this page I used sentiments from the You Got This Stamp and the Lined Labels Stamp. I finished off the layout by adding texture with the Positive Vibes and Smile Wood Veneers.

Thank you so much for stopping by and I can’t wait to see what you all will create with the August 2021 kit and add-ons!

My name is Danielle and together with my husband and our fur baby Blink we live on a tiny remote Caribbean island called Saba. We have our own restaurant here, which keeps us busy, but I will always need my creative time. I like to try new creative hobbies all the time, but scrapbooking is the one thing I have been doing for about 20 years now. My pages are either clean or they get real messy when I use mixed media.

Find more of Danielle’s designs on her Instagram feed until she returns to inspire us later this month!

Starting with a From Sketch to Finish Sketch with Shannon Dombkowski

Hello, crafty friends! It’s Shannon Dombkowski here to talk about one of my favorite things in scrapbooking: sketches! You may remember that a few months ago, Elle’s Studio released From Sketch to Finish Vol. 6. If you haven’t picked it up, what are you waiting for? It’s a PDF packed full of sketches and page inspiration. You’ll never be left wondering how to design your next page again (or at least not for a long while!)

I decided to use sketch 23 as the inspiration for this page. The sketch is designed as a 12 x 12 inch layout, but I decided to think outside the box and use it as the starting point for a traveler’s notebook layout!

Supplies | August 2021 KitProud Of You Die CutsLight Teal Cardstock Basic Shape Stickers, Chipboard Circle StickersBack To School Wood Veneers, Acrylic StarsAdventure Paper Stack

First, I kept the basic design nearly identical. I intentionally chose a sketch that I knew would translate well to a traveler’s notebook. I liked the not-quite-perfect grid of this sketch. The title is where a square would be and I decided to keep my title the same. The Back To School Wood Veneer piece was a perfect ready-made title for this page about my girls!

While I did keep the design true to the sketch, I decided to change the photos from squares to rectangles. I like this look with the more rectangular shape of my pages rather than the square like a 12 x 12 inch page. It also allowed me to use the two photos that I wanted to use without chopping heads or feet off of my daughters. Sometimes we have to tweak things to make our photos work!

The sketch actually has 3 photos and no designated spot for journaling. I opted to swap the photo that was diagonal from the title out for a journaling block. You could also make one of the photos flip up to reveal journaling or just eliminate the journaling altogether! That’s the beauty of sketches—you make them work for you. I did like that this bottom square of the sketch had some embellishments along the bottom of it so I decided to keep those in my layout as well.

And there you have it: A sketch-inspired page that is pretty close to the sketch itself. All I needed was a few quick tweaks to make it work for me. I can’t wait to scroll back through From Sketch to Finish Vol. 6 again to find inspiration for my next page. How about you?

Take the guesswork out of creating with our latest class, From Sketch to Finish Vol. 6! You can find this class now available in our shop with the exclusive 6 x 8 inch stamp, or as a digital download only!

We can’t wait to see what YOU create! Share how any of our new sketches in the class inspire you to create by posting your project in our Elle’s Studio Facebook Group or by posting on Instagram using the hashtag #EllesStudio!

Lizzy Alphabet Fun with Junell Kruzel

Hello, my friends! It’s Junell here, and I am so delighted to show you a layout I made highlighting the Lizzy Alphabet Stamp! I’m pretty sure I jumped up and down and hugged this stamp set when I received it in the mail! It is just so whimsical and pretty and I also decided that every layout I make from here on out will use this stamp set. That’s how much I love it! And it has stars, hearts, sparkles, a fun scalloped border, a rainbow, plus numbers and symbols! Hello! This set is a must have!

Supplies | August 2021 KitProud Of You Die Cuts, Chipboard Circle Stickers, Lizzy Alphabet Stamp, Adventure Paper Stack

To start off, I knew I wanted to create a large quote background using the Lizzy Alphabet Stamp. One of my favorite quotes is by author Regina Brett. “If you don’t want regrets at the end of your life, have no regrets at the end of each day.” I’ve had this quote written on an index card in my scraproom for years and I thought it would be perfect to showcase the Lizzy Alphabet Stamp and also a picture of myself and my husband getting out there and riding bikes after a lazy day.

I spent some time picking out colors of Distress Oxide that would work best for the stamping. I wanted it to match as much as possible with the papers from the Adventure Paper Stack that I would be using for the layering. I chose Crackling Campfire, Mustard Seed, Mowed Lawn, Blueprint Sketch, and Stormy Sky. I think these colors are spot on.

I knew it would take some time to stamp this quote out and I didn’t want to waste any time stamping where it would be covered up, so I began by printing out my picture and creating some layers using the Adventure Paper Stack, August 2021 Kit and Proud Of You Die Cuts. I layered it all up and adhered it together, but not to my page just yet. I placed it on my 12 x 12 inch background and then used a pencil to outline where it would go, so I wouldn’t waste my time stamping behind it.

I used a pencil to lightly draw lines across my page and then got to stamping. I didn’t want to make it too difficult to read, so I used one color for each word and then rotated among the colors I picked out. I did not stamp in the pencil outline I made for the layers. I let it dry for a little bit and then erased all my pencil marks.

I trimmed the edges of my white paper to make it look like the words were going off the page and then adhered it to gray 12 x 12 inch cardstock. I popped up my layers with some foam and placed it in the center where I wanted it and adhered that down. After that, I had fun embellishing and creating little clusters with the die cuts from the August 2021 Kit, Proud Of You Die Cuts and Chipboard Circle Stickers

I love how my layout turned out! It’s bright, whimsical, and fun! I cannot wait until you get this awesome Lizzy Alphabet Stamp in your hands and start creating with it! I promise you will love it! Thank you for reading!

August Kit Tag-Inspired with Patricia Roebuck

Hello, Elle’s Studio friends. Today I would like to walk you through how I used a tag from the August 2021 kit and extras to inspire a light and piecey spread in my Heidi Swapp Storyline Chapters insert!

Supplies | August 2021 Kit, 4 x 6 inch Notebook Journaling Tags, Light Teal Cardstock Basic Shape Stickers, Chipboard Circle Stickers, Positive Vibes Wood Veneers, Lined Labels Stamp, Lizzy Alphabet Stamp, Good Times Paper Stack

My design started on the left with a 4 x 6 inch photo and the August 2021 Kit pie chart tag, which started the circle design throughout this project.

To begin getting a piecey look, instead of layering the Good Times Paper Stack patterned paper under my photo, I punched circles. This makes my project less bulky, while still adding lots of color and texture. I now had lots of opportunities to use the August Kit die cuts, Light Teal Cardstock Basic Shape Stickers, Chipboard Circle Stickers, and a Positive Vibes Wood Veneer piece either on top of the punched circles or to fill in areas.

I really had fun and emphasized the circle design on the right with all of the same products from the left, but to add another texture and another place for journaling, I used the Lined Labels Stamp in blue ink to be a strong contrast to the red.

For my favorite part and finishing touch, I used the new Lizzy Alphabet Stamp to create a title going across both pages. I stamped in four different ink colors on a 4 x 6 inch August Kit tag and then trimmed them out to adhere.  This goes right along with the color and textures I already created. Not only does it add to the playfulness overall, but stamping them out this way gives me more freedom in placing them on my project.

I continued using the new Lizzy Alphabet Stamp by framing the top and bottom of my 4 x 6 inch photo, stamping the rainbow on an August die cut layered over my photo, and more rainbow stamping on the right to finish.

I hope this inspires you to use an August Kit tag to start your design and continue that color or shape from the tag throughout your project. Have fun!

Adventures Recorded with Katarina Prevendarova

Hi friends! It’s Katarina back with you again. Today I’d like to share a fun spread in my 6 x8 inch vacation album from summer 2018. We spent a part of it in Austrian Alps, enjoying mountain views and the beautiful July 2021 Kit and add-ons were just perfect to document our adventures in this still unfinished album. Today my main focus was on the Adventure Notes Stamp. Let’s see how I used it.

Supplies | July 2021 Kit, Cardstock Die Cut Tags, Navy Cardstock Label Stickers, Chipboard Speech Bubble StickersNavy Puffy Alphabet StickersTiny Shapes and Dots Puffy Stickers – NeutralsThe Great Outdoors Wood VeneersAdventure Paper Stack, Good Times Paper Stack, Adventure Notes Stamp, Nesting Tags Metal Die

I wanted to document one day of our vacation, but I had so many photos I wanted to put on this spread! That’s why I added a little 4 x 6 inch insert where I could put some additional photos.

The Adventure Notes Stamp is amazing to add short notes to your documenting. For my project, I used them in a different way—I split my photos by theme (play, hiking, food, etc.) and used the stamps to create fun dividers for my spread.

I stamped them on a piece of cork patterned paper from the Good Times Paper Stack and cut them out. I positioned most of them vertically next to my photos and used either my sewing machine or stapler to attach them and add some texture. I combined them with die cuts from the July 2021 Kit, Cardstock Die Cut Tags or white puffy hearts from the Tiny Shapes and Dots Puffy Stickers.

I really LOVE tags and used a bunch of them on my pages: as layering pieces, a flap, a place for journaling or even as embellishments. So much gorgeousness!

I had two photos that were similar and instead of showing them both, I hid one of them under a tag which I machine stitched to the background paper, creating a fun flap— a place for a gorgeous wood veneer piece from the The Great Outdoors Wood Veneers, the second photo and journaling. This is a great way to add space for more content in your album.

I created the tag using patterned paper from the Adventure Paper Stack and two tags from the the super amazing Nesting Tags Metal Die. These are some of my most favorite products of all times!

I hope you like my today’s project and that it inspires you to use the fantastic July products and play with the Adventure Notes Stamp to add some fun details to your pages. Thank you for stopping by, friends!
