Project Life: A New Year.

Happy New Year and welcome to a new year of Project Life at Elle’s Studio!!

Many of you may be embarking on your very first year of Project Life, while some of you are long time veterans of this wonderful system of documentation created by Becky Higgins.

2013 is going to be an exciting year at Elle’s Studio!  I am looking forward to another year of providing Project Life inspiration on our blog along with a few new features to help get your creative minds and thoughts flowing.

For my 2013 cover page I went with a black, white, cream, and gold “New Years” theme.   I added two pennants from the Be Merry Pennants, and one of the Be Merry 3 inch circles.   With special permission from Elle, I also included two items from two of our new collections that will be debuting at CHA mid-January!  Can you spot them???  ðŸ˜‰

When thinking about 2013, and how I plan to document our lives using Project Life, I took some time to LOOK BACK at how I documented our lives using Project Life in 2012.  I asked myself the following questions:

  1. What worked?
  2. What didn’t work?
  3. Was anything “left out” in what was documented?
  4. What do I want to add to my Project Life?
  5. What is my plan for if when I get behind?

Thinking about these questions helped me formulate my plan for this year.  For instance, when thinking about what was “left out” of my album in 2012, I realized that I have very few photos of Todd during his work day.  This may take some planning, but I would love to have portions of his professional life included in our family album.

I also made the plan that I if I get more than three weeks behind, I will skip ahead to the current week and work from there.  When I have time, I will go back to the week’s where I fell behind and catch up.   I discovered I enjoy working on the most current weeks, and I feel “less stressed”.

These are just a few things I discovered during my PL brainstorming session–it proved to be very beneficial as I plan and prepare for 2013!

We have a special giveaway today!   Upload your Project Life cover page to the Elle’s Studio Member Gallery for a chance to win a $25 Elle’s Studio gift card!  We will randomly choose one lucky winner and post their cover page in our Project Life post next Tuesday.  Good Luck!

Here’s to documenting a wonderful 2013!

January’s Inspiration Gallery is LIVE!

Our Design Team has a special surprise for you guys today! Originally, we had planned to skip the January gallery because of CHA and all the time the prep work would take up, but some of our Design Team members didn’t want to! Instead of December being their last gallery with us, the January one is!

It’s always so bittersweet having to say goodbye to a team after six months – I feel like these ladies are my best friends! But, then we get to welcome in a new group and that brings a whole new round of fun – we’ll be announcing the new team on January 4th, so stay tuned to see who will be inspiring you for the next six months!

In the meantime, hop on over and see what some members of our Design Team have created to inspire you! Also, please make sure to leave them some love since this is their last gallery with us – they deserve a BIG round of applause and a million thank yous from me 🙂 I’ll be forever grateful for such an amazing team and all the incredible creations they put together for us!

Happy New Year!

We want to wish everyone a very Happy New Year! Thank you all so much for your incredible support during 2012 – you made it the most amazing year EVER! Your support means so much more than words could ever express and we can’t wait to spend another creative and crafty year with you 🙂

We have some big, BIG things in store for 2013 and cannot wait to share them with you! But, since we can’t share the big, BIG news just yet, we have another sneak peek of one of the stamps that will be releasing later this week:

Make sure you are on our newsletter list to be the first to know when our new stamps go live – before CHA! It’s a little, mini release, before the big, BIG one 🙂

Celebrate December with Mish Wooderson

Welcome to Celebrate December at Elle’s Studio!  The month of December will be packed with holiday inspiration, projects, layouts, and gift ideas from many talented designers.  Be sure to check the Elle’s Studio blog everyday for prizes, giveaways, and inspiration!

Today we have Mish Wooderson joining us for our last day of Celebrate December.  Mish is one of my go-to sources for Project Life Inspiration, so when she said she would like to share a Project Life spread with us, I was particularly excited!  She offers great tips on completing a December Daily and Project Life.  Thanks Mish for joining us today!

I am so excited to be sharing a project with you during this fun month at Elle’s Studio. This year I’m combining my Project Life and December Daily pages into one album.  I’m calling it Project + December and I have to say that it’s been so much easier than trying to accomplish two separate projects during the busy month of December.   My main 2 page Project Life spread contains more of the day to day happenings and then I’ve included inserts using divided page protectors that hold more of the special holiday events.
This is my my main 2 page Project Life spread for the week.

Below are some of the 4 x 6 inserts of the main spread. I love to use Elle’s 4 x 6 pieces for bases for photos and embellishments.

I’ll be sharing more photos and my insert pages on my blog today also.  Below are a few peeks at some of the inserts using Elle’s Studio products.

Today we are giving away a Celebrate December prize pack!  Leave a comment on this post and we will draw a random winner to receive this prize pack full of Elle’s Studio goodies!

Celebrate December with Jenni Hufford

Welcome to Celebrate December at Elle’s Studio!  The month of December will be packed with holiday inspiration, projects, layouts, and gift ideas from many talented designers.  Be sure to check the Elle’s Studio blog everyday for prizes, giveaways, and inspiration!

Today we have Jenni Hufford joining us with a fun December over-view layout.  Jenni currently serves as a blog contributor for Project Life at Elle’s Studio and was on our Design Team in 2010.  Thank you Jenni for joining us for Celebrate December.

One of my favorite pieces from the Be Merry collection is the Be Merry Number Cutouts.    I was inspired to use this cutout as the foundation for December “over-view” layout.

To create this layout, I printed various wallet sized photos and mini sized photos (from Mpix.com) from our favorite December moments in 2011.   I then cropped the photos to fit different spaces within the Be Merry Number Cutout.

One thing I kept in mind while making this layout was to not be so worried about having the actual date match the number (shh! don’t tell).  Looking back, that is NOT what will matter most to me (matching the date with the photo)– it’s sharing the moments and story that is most important.

If you are not doing a December Daily, this would be a great alternative to document the month of December and all the wonderful events and memories it brings!
