Project Life

This week’s Project Life covers the week of January 1 – January 6th.  The FIRST week of 2013!!!

I love new beginnings.  And a new year of Project Life is no exception.  It’s  fun to “start again” with this method of documentation.  I have said this before, but one of the things I love about Project Life is that every week, every month, every year can have a different feel or style.
I made a few goals and challenges for my Project Life album this year.  One of those goals was to include more “found objects” within my spread.   This week I used quite a few items that helped tell the story of our week.  I included a 2013 calendar graphic that came with a recent Lisa Leonard purchase.  A restaurant logo (where we ate for our first dinner of 2013), a logo from Ann Taylor Loft (from a gift I received), and a ticket stub from the weekend.
For my title/date pocket for this week, I used a Hambly overlay.  This overlay was part of my cover page and I just added an Elle’s Studio Lil’ Snippets: Tiny Label to cover up the tag on the cover page.   I use these labels ALL the time in Project Life.  They are perfect for dates pockets and for a journaling spot in the 4×6 photo spots.
One thing I noticed while creating this first Project Life spread of the New Year was that I had a TON of photos.  I am sure many of you will too.  The excitement of starting a new year of Project Life usually results in many many photos.  Which is WONDERFUL until you have to choose which ones to include– or not include.   We had a week that included many get togethers, a holiday, sledding parties, and a birthday.  So it was definitely hard to choose.
I always remind myself that the photos I don’t include are perfect for a layout, or possibly an 8.5×11 layout I an add in this spread later.   This is an overview of our week, so I can feel okay about not including everything.

Congrats to Elisa our Project Life winner from last week.  She was chosen as our random winner by uploading her cover page to our member gallery. Congrats Elisa, we love your cover page!  Please email michelle@shopellesstudio.com to receive your prize.

Today we have a giveaway!   Leave a comment here for a chance to win an Elle’s Studio Prize Pack.  For a SECOND chance to enter, upload your Project Life spread in our Member Gallery and leave a second comment in this post linking us to your page.  The winner will be announced next Tuesday!

Project Life was created by Becky Higgins as a way to simplify how you document life and preserve memories. Photo pockets used in my Project Life album are created by Becky and can be found here.  You can read of all the Elle’s Studio Project Life posts here.

Say Hello to Our New Design Team!

Today’s an exciting day – we get to announce the new Design Team Members that will be inspiring you for the next six months! We are so grateful to everyone who applied, it was so hard to narrow it down because of all the talent! We ended up expanding the team again, this time there are 12 members! So, now you can look forward to even more inspiration each month – we are super excited!!

Before we introduce the new ladies, we want to take a moment and thank the last team – we had so much fun with them and we will be forever grateful for all the amazing work and inspiration they brought us each month! Each month I felt so blessed by their support – so THANK YOU ladies, love you all!!

So, as we say goodbye to our current team, we want to welcome in our new team that is also full of amazing ladies! They’ve each given us three fun facts to share about them, too! Please welcome these next 12 ladies to the Elle’s Studio Design Team:

– I never moved from my hometown until I was 22 and since then I have lived in 6 states and now my first country (Japan).

– Anyone that knows me knows I have a super weakness for cupcakes. Nothing makes me happier then making them & eating them! For a quick fix when I am not making them would be my favorite cupcake bakery which is Crumbs Cupcakes. I could live in that store!  My favorite cupcake to sit ,smile & devour is a Red Velvet.
– My semi secret obsession is watching Bollywood movies. I can NOT get enough. Sure they are pretty long & I have to read the subtitles but I LOVE them! My favorite actors are Hrithik Roshan and Shahid Kapoor.
– I can not live w/out camera. I take pictures everyday. I love capturing our daily lives and even with all the pictures I do take there is only a handful of me in them. I said for the coming year I am going to challenge myself to change that.

– I worked at Movie Gallery in high school summers & have this ridiculous way of knowing every line to every movie that was put out between 1988 – 1993…It is really irritating to my husband, OR he secretly loves it, and doesn’t want to admit it!!
– If I could go back in time and meet one person, it would be whomever first put chocolate and peanut butter together, so that I could hug, kiss and enthusiastically thank them!!

– My other passion in life, besides paper crafting, is horses. We are hoping to buy our own farm soon. I have been riding for over 25 years, and my oldest daughter is starting to ride with me.
– As my ‘real job’ I’m a Web Project Manager (sometimes a Designer and developer). My coworkers are always surprised when I reveal my creative side because they consider me to be the ‘technical geek’ in our office.
– I’m a decent cook and baker when I want to be. I can make almost anything. My oldest child, 8, is starting to like a wider variety of foods, and I’m looking forward to the younger two, 3 and 5, doing the same. Then I will be able to cook more interesting meals again.

Project Life Product Spotlight

2013 is here and whether you are just starting out with Project Life or continuing from last year, we wanted to highlight some ES products, that besides working great for layouts, cards, and mini albums, would also work great for Project Life and are already sized for those Project Life page protectors!

Our 2013 Calendar Note Tags are 3 x 4 inches and these are great for sliding in at the beginning of the month and adding some special notes at the bottom – like: goals, special dates to remember, etc. If you don’t have room to use them at the beginning of the month, save them to highlight a special date(s) during the month – you can even circle or underline the date(s) on the card

Our Daily Note Tags are 3 x 4 inches, too! These are really fun and can be used either vertical OR horizontal, so these offer a lot of choices if you’re using a mix of page protectors! Besides all the days of the week, you will also receive three cards that would work for any day.

The Sweet Life Large Journaling Tags are 4 x 6 inches – you can use these to tell a longer story or use these by adding a photo to them and a special note. They are already sized and ready to slide in πŸ™‚

All our Lil’ Snippets contain 3 – 4 tags that you can cut apart, but the secret is that the tag on top is usually always a 3 x 4 inch tag! Use the top tag to journal on and then use the bottom pieces to put on photos and add smaller notes or just to embellish!

Our Quotable Tags are fun and come to you cut at 3 x 4 inches. If you want to highlight something cute, kind, or funny that someone said, these are your go to tags. Love these large speech bubbles!

And, we can’t do a Project Life Product Spotlight without mention our stamps! All our stamps are small enough to fit on a 3 x 4 inch card, and most are even smaller – great for embellishing!

You can see all these tags and MORE in our new shop section for Project Life! There you can find all our tags that are sized for those Project Life pockets. And, to stay inspired make sure you visit our blog every Tuesday to see how Jenni’s Project Life album is coming together – we’ll be featuring her and special guests throughout the year.

But, even though the tags above are the perfect size for your page protectors, almost any of our tags would work great for your Project Life album along the way! Here’s just a peek at what you could use:

2013 Layered Calendars, Monthly Tidbits, The Sweet Life Lil’ Snippets LabelsLil’ Snippets – Tiny Note Labels, Lil’ Snippets – Tiny Life Labels , Lil’ Snippets – Date, The Sweet Life Tidbits, The Sweet Life Pennants, The Sweet Life Cutouts, and The Sweet Life Tiny Tags.

And, don’t forget our two new stamp sets that we are releasing before CHA and are coming very, VERY soon (above is just a tiny peek!) – We can’t wait for you to see them, they’d be great for Project Life! Join our newsletter to be the first to know when they are in the shop!

Stay tuned for our CHA sneak peeks next week – There is going to be some awesome things in store πŸ™‚ It’s going to be an incredibly fun year!
