Guest Designer Spotlight- Summer Fullerton

I am excited to introduce our November Guest Designer, Summer Fullerton!

I have admired Summer’s work ever since I began scrapbooking.  She tells such wonderful stories through her pages.  I was beyond thrilled when she said YES to being our guest designer!   She worked with our Noel, Penelope, and Cameron collections. I know you will LOVE what she created!  Make sure you check out her full gallery.   Here is a little interview to get to know Summer better.

Why did you start scrapbooking and how did you get started?

I started scrapbookng as we know it today shortly after the birth of my son 16 years ago. However I kept rudimentary scrapbooks with photos and memorabilia taped to typing paper in high school.

Where do you scrapbook?

In my office/studio. A couple of years ago I invested in making my space work for me. It might seem weird that I scrap with my back to the window but spatially it works and I read somewhere it’s bad Feng Shui to have your back to the door in an office.

What do you listen to/watch while scrapbooking?

I am a huge fan of Hulu, Netflix, and Pandora. I usually have one of these going while I scrapbook. I admit reality TV is my guilty pleasure.

What is your favorite thing about scrapbooking?

I love telling stories.

Do you have a scrapbooking goal?

I have a motto which could be considered a goal “Enjoy the process”

Congrats to Denise Luscan who won our October Guest, Geralyn’s favorites!   Please email michelle@shopellesstudio.com with the following info:

Project Life

Today’s Project Life covers the week of November 4-10th.
Have you ever had a week that went by and suddenly you realized you took maybe 4 photos?   Well this was that week for us!   Super busy.   In order to compensate for the lack of photos, I enlarged one photo to use for a full page.
Sometimes I forget that there are other ways to document our week than photos.  Sure, photos are usually my foundation, but even on a low-photo week, there are other ways to document.

I almost exclusively used items from the Elle’s Studio November Kit— I love this kit!   It was perfect for filling in the stories when I lacked the photos!

On the enlarged photo I added two small pieces from the kit.  The “yummy” tag was adhered on top of the pocket page.  The “Yes Please” tag was perfect since I messed up my photo trimming a bit and had extra space for the particular pocket.

On the right page I added a fall leaf and preserved it to maintain the color in my album.  I blogged a tutorial that you can read here on how to preserve fall leaves.  I still have leaves from two years ago that still have the fall color!  This is such a fun thing to include in an album!

We want to feature your Project Life album!  During the last week of each month we will be featuring a couple Project Life spreads that caught our eye in the Member Gallery.  We will be posting Project Life spreads on our blog tomorrow!   If your spread is featured we will be sending you a $5 gift card to use in our store.   Good Luck!

Our Monthly kit + Your Stash

Hi there! We’re back with another edition of Our kit + Your stash, where we show you how well Elle’s Studio products mix with the stash you already have at home.

Our fabulous DT member, Annette is back this month with a wonderful mix and mini album insert.
Loved this month’s kit prompts about yummy food and being thankful. This made me think of my awesome husband who does the cooking around here and I wanted to make a layout in my handbook about him. I pulled together a kit mixed from some Studio Calico cards, embellishments and stamps, an Elise Blaha Cripe stamp, along with some Elle’s Studio paper and stamps. I also used the .png file for thankful directly on the photo and also made my own tag using the file for thankful for this. Loved how it turned out! -Annette

Contributing Team Highlight: Limited Edition ES November Kit

We’ve shown you what our talented design team has created with our November kit, but we wanted to show off our amazing contributors as well!  If you haven’t grabbed your  yet, make sure you do so pronto as they’re flying off the shelves.  Once they’re gone, they won’t be reprinted!

First up?  The talented Daniela Dobson.  Daniela combined tags from our November kit with papers, tags and stamps from our You and Me and Penelope collections.  Proof that ALL of our products work well with each other!
Take a peek at this amazing seasonal layout from Meghann Andrew!  She sprayed leaf cutouts from the tags with gold mist to give them a one of a kind look.  Gorgeous!
Although our kit is obviously seasonal, that doesn’t mean the projects you create with it need to be!  We love how Angie Gutshall created an everyday layout showing just how versatile our kits really are.
Kay Rogers created this perfectly Fall layout.  The greens, kraft and orange paired with tags from the kit are a perfect match!
Contributing Team member Jennifer Chapin made the November kit truly work for her by using a non-traditional Autumn color scheme to document her family photos.  She also sprinkled in some embellishments made with our November cut files.  It totally works!
Looking for a great design to scraplift?  I’d say this layout from Melissa Mann fits the bill!  This linear layout lets our tags shine but still allows focus to remain on your photo.

We hope our Creative Team members have inspired you to reach for your November kit or reach for your favorite method of payment to grab one before they’re gone!

sketch thursday

Welcome back to Sketch Thursday! Today’s sketch was inspired by Annette’s Hello Pumpkin pocket pages. I love how she mixed a large photo with tiny ones, then added little bits to create a grid.

Our amazing DT member, Suz took the challenge this week and created these beautiful inserts for her December Daily album:

I decided to pare the sketch to a smaller size and less sections/squares by cutting down a coin holder to fit my Handbook that I am using for my December Daily. I placed some circle-punched Noel patterned papers and various embellishments into each pocket and either sewed or stapled them shut. Then I decided to place some of the awesome Saltwater woodgrain patterned paper behind this page and misted it with Mr. Huey Classic white to simulate falling snow and to use this as a backdrop to my see-through page. Suz

For a chance to win a $10 gift certificate to the Shop create a project inspired by today’s sketch, upload it to our Member Gallery and post a link here. A random winner will be selected and announced with next week’s sketch.

Last week’s winner is Davida!

Project Life

This week’s Project Life covers the week of October 7-13th.
I used quite a bit of the October 2013 kit for this fall themed spread.  (Have you seen our new November 2013 kit?  These kits are PERFECT for Project Life!)

We had a lot going on this week so I included an insert to fit it all in.  I typically do that if we have a busy weekend– inserts are great for focusing on a weekend!

On the left side I included a card I received from a local MOPS group as well as a George Washington Pez dispenser to journal about the recent government shut down.

The insert covered our trip to the pumpkin patch.  I saved the sticker from our pumpkin.   It was florescent green and I wasn’t sure if it would work in my spread, but I found a Halloween Star Wars sticker that pulled in the same colors.

The right side focuses more on our weekend and how my daughter had her first horse show.  There was so much more I wanted to say about her horse show than what is included in this spread, so I will likely make a layout.  This would be a great example of when I know I want to do a layout on an event.

Good Luck!
