Creative member Kay is back this week with another stunning layout.IMG_1574 IMG_1573 IMG_1571

Kay says: Here are my girls, spending time together on the oldest’s last trip home. What a fun sketch to work with! I loved the bold triangles splitting this page in two. I expect to use this technique again and again. I chose to jazz up the top a bit, but otherwise stayed true to the original.

PROJECT LIFE

This week’s Project Life covers the week of March 10-16th.Image 3

This week, I decided to add more “extra found items” into my spread.  My regular “go to” are my photos, which I love, but there is also something special about these bits and pieces of life scattered in the album.

Image 2

I added packaging from a new candle, packaging from the Frozen DVD (which pretty much feels like the theme of our winter!), and packaging from Girl Scout Thin Mints.  The colors here went with my green, blue and turquoise theme.

Image 1

I had to document my son’s appointment with the allergist.  We had to do some testing to find out if he was allergic to shellfish or not.  He talked about Shrimp all week.  When he found out he was NOT allergic he was jumping up and down in the doctors office– you would have thought someone told him he wasn’t allergic to candy.

Image

I highlighted this by using alpha letters that spelled “shrimp” and arranging them in a pocket alone.  I used adhesive on the back of the letters and used a pencil to help arrange the letters in place, beginning with the last letter.   I also stapled two of the letters into place.

We want to feature your Project Life album!  During the last week of each month we will be featuring a couple Project Life spreads that caught our eye in the Member Gallery.  We will be posting Project Life spreads on our blog tomorrow!   If your spread is featured we will be sending you a $5 gift card to use in our store.   Good Luck!

Capture Life – A Daily Capture

Today’s Capture Life continues with my favorite thing to capture: the everyday moments.

At the beginning of the month, I challenged my facebook friends to join me in a daily photo challenge. It was simple; take one photo everyday of something from your everyday life and share it. I called it “Shoot and Share”. It has become not only a way for me to do a little daily shooting during this cold month but also allows me to write a little bit about the photo that I am sharing and what it means to me. A photo holds so many memories and details and while one person may simply look at it and see say “a barn”, I see the place where I planted my first rhubarb plants in hopes they will make it another year. Preserve that : Record it.

CL_MarchAs fun as it has been to share these with everyone, it’s also been important to preserve these memories in my Project Life album.
Here is an insert from my album using the March Tag Kit, the March Cut Files, a few wood veneers as well as bits and pieces from the Everyday Moments and 2014 Collection :

IMG_4905-copy

When I typically use my Silhouette to cute out files I tend to just use plain white cardstock and cut in bulk. This allowing me to use mist to color them as I need them. But today I switched it up and cut from the b side of the Today’s Story sheet. I love how they all turned out in the teal and still used a bit of green mist on the clover cut out to add a bit of variation.

IMG_4906-copyIMG_4908-copyWhen using the “I am so lucky” cut I kept the “lucky” word and sprayed that with again the green mist. Off setting it a bit added a simple layered look to help it pop.

IMG_4909-copyIMG_4911-copy IMG_4910-copyWhile I know March is well on it’s way out; I encourage you to try a challenge like “Shoot and Share” during month of April. It’s so much fun to look back and see so many memories from one month.

Happy Creating ~Megan

Product Spotlight – Letter & Number Stickers

184563-600x600-1When these babies made their debut at Winter CHA, I knew they would be put to use on many of my projects. That’s why today I, along with the fabulous Melissa Mann will be highlighting two layouts using the new Letter & Number Stickers.

They are available in four great colors and I’m going to show you how to create a custom look with a simple spritz of mist!

IMG_0783-copy

I used two different shades of mist directly onto my sticker sheet; one yellow and one orange. When doing so just make a few small swipes of mist so that some of the letters remain pink and thus creating sort of an ombre or mixed look as you add them to your page.

As shown below you can see how it adds a bit of variation to the title. Fun, right!?!

I found this quote via Pinterest and thought Yes, that completely describes me most days. It must be my title for this page!

IMG_4895-copy

I used the same technique on the Teal letters, this time using a lime green colored mist.

IMG_4897-copy

Staying with the “too many tabs open” theme I used it as my creative jump start to create this “to do” page. It’s another no photo page and I’m really enjoying adding these to my Project Life album.

IMG_4890-copy

It’s a mix of all sorts of tidbits from here at Elle’s Studio. Including many of the Cut Files, monthly Tag Kits, Stamps, and Wood Veneers.

IMG_4892-copyIMG_4893-copy

Melissa used the Letter Stickers throughout her design as both subtitles and for her journaling. They are perfectly sprinkled in among her amazing bright and layered style.

Alpha-Sticker-Detail-1Thank you Melissa for joining in on the fun of using the Elle’s Studio Letter & Number Stickers.

I hope you guys out there will join in on the fun as well! Create a layout, Project Life page, or a card and be sure and share it with us in our Gallery!

Happy Creating! ~Megan

Design Team Highlight | Lucky tag

It’s always interesting to browse the design team gallery each month and get a sense of what themes they’re creating for and what products they’re designing with.  This week, we’re highlighting three projects that all use the “lucky” tag from this month’s limited edition kit.

First up is this layout from Juliana.  She used the lucky tag from the March kit on the right of her photo.  I love that it adds some visual weight on top of the grid background but doesn’t distract from her photo.

Jenny used the same tag on this spring themed card.  It’s amazing how the same tag lends itself so well to two projects with two completely different color schemes.

Yuki also used the same tag on a card and she used it as the focal point along the top edge of her card.

Have you used this tag on a project?  We’d love to see it!  Upload your projects to our gallery so that we can see your latest creation.

SKETCH THURSDAY

Welcome back to Sketch Thursday! Today’s sketch was inspired by Valerie’s Celebrate layout from this month’s DT gallery.

sketch 03.20

I love all the confetti in this sketch and used it as the starting point for my layout. I changed it up a bit by mixing a circle background with green and gold sequins sprinkled inside.
