A Basic Shapes Background with Guest Brianna Lepper

We are so excited to welcome a new guest designer to the blog today, Brianna Lepper! Brianna has designed for our popular From Sketch to Finish Vol. 6 class, and we loved her layouts so much that we just had to welcome her back again. Her style is clean, but with lots of color and a bit of mixed media thrown in for good measure, and she always inspires us. We know that what she has to share with us today using our April 2022 kit and add-ons will inspire you, too! Let’s hear from Brianna!

Hey friends! It’s Brianna Lepper here today and I’m so excited and honored to be the April guest designer! Elle’s Studio is one of my faves and I couldn’t wait to start creating. The April release is fabulous and I wanted to use it all! I was immediately inspired by the outline Basic Shapes Stamp and knew that I would use it to create my first project. There’s a process video down at the end of this post so if you’d like to see how this page came together, make sure to check it out! Here’s what I came up with:

Supplies | April 2022 KitFlower Die Cuts, Easter Stickers, Flower Puffy Stickers, Warm Puffy Heart and Star Stickers, The Best Paper Stack, Basic Shapes Stamp – Outline, Basic Shapes Stamp – Solid

To start, I took one of my large acrylic blocks and arranged some of the outline Basic Shapes Stamps around it. I had so many ideas for both this set as well as solid Basic Shapes Stamp, that I had a hard time narrowing down what I wanted to do. (I wish there were more hours in the day!) In the end, I took a black ink pad from my stash, inked up all of my arranged stamps, and stamped them a few times across a piece of textured white cardstock. This created a fun and clean background for my photos and embellishments to sit on top of. To add a bit of color, I took the heart from the solid Basic Shapes Stamp and stamped it around a few times.

Since Easter is this weekend, I thought it would be great to document an Easter photo! And I also really wanted to use the super cute Easter Stickers from this release. I matted my photo with a few of The Best Paper Stack papers and distressed the edges. I then adhered it down to my page and added the cute paper clip from the April Kit die cuts to the top of it.

To create my embellishment clusters, I pulled out the Flower Die Cuts and chose some of the floral pieces in different colors and sizes. I chose a large flower for my main cluster and added in some smaller ones as well as some of the leaves. I bent up the edges of the flowers and leaves to create more interest. I used one of the Easter Stickers as my title and backed it with a scrap piece of cardstock to pop it up with dimensional adhesive. I also layered in a few more of the Easter Stickers, since they’re so cute!

One of the The Best Paper Stack papers has some great circular seal elements, so I die cut a few out using the Good Times Seals Metal Die to add to my clusters. I also fussy cut a tag and labels from one of the 3 x 4 tags in the April Kit. I just love fussy cutting and getting the most out of products. In this cluster, I popped up one of the seal elements and layered a few Flower Die Cuts as well as some Flower Puffy Stickers and Warm Puffy Heart stickers.

For the finishing touches, I added in tangled thread and a few of the smaller Flower Puffy Stickers and Warm Puffy Heart stickers around the rest of my page.

Here’s one last shot of my page:

Thank you for stopping by today and I hope that I’ve inspired you in some way! I love stamping on my layouts to create a fun background—have you given it a try? Watch as I create this layout in my process video:

There are endless possibilities if you use the Outline and Solid Basic Shapes Stamps. Thanks again for being here, and I’ll see you in my next post where I share another page using this awesome April release!

Hey friends!  My name is Brianna Lepper and I’ve been scrapbooking for over 15 years now.  I started sharing my love for it over on YouTube and then ventured over to Instagram.  I love the paper crafting community!  We are a military family stationed in Northwest Louisiana and we have two boys, Noah and Elijah.  We also have three dogs, Pippa, Luna and Cubby and you’ll always see them on my layouts.  When I’m not scrapbooking or teaching about scrapbooking, I enjoy reading and spending time with my family.

Spring Congrats Cards with Nathalie Leonelli

Hello, crafty Elle’s Studio friends! It’s Nathalie here today to share the greeting cards I created with the brand-new Sincere Sentiments: Congrats! collection and just released April add-ons.

Supplies | Sincere Sentiments Congrats StampSincere Sentiments Congrats Metal DieLayered Card Metal DieFlower Die Cuts, Warm Puffy Heart and Star Stickers, The Best Paper Stack

As you can see, they work great together! I loved combining the bold sentiments of the Congrats stamps with the bright papers of The Best Paper Stack and the floral elements of the Flower Die Cuts pack.

I stamped the large “Congrats” on patterned paper from The Best Paper Stack and placed it at an angle and on foam dots for the greatest effect. I used the scalloped frame die from the Layered Card Metal Die set to create the yellow border.

With the same supplies I went on making a second card. The Congrats Stamp offers so many options that you can really make a large variety of cards.

Just like for the first card, I stamped part of my sentiment on patterned paper from The Best Paper Stack. It looks great, especially here with the outlined Congrats stamp from the Sincere Sentiments Congrats Stamp, combined with a solid black “huge” stamp. Once again foam dots, plus layering, added dimension to the card.

My absolute favorite thing about the new Sincere Sentiments Congrats collection is the big variety of fonts included. You will create the best-looking projects by mixing them!

Create beautiful cards to send that special someone a huge “Congrats!” for any occasion! These three new products, which include a 6 x 8 inch stamp3 x 4 inch add-on stamp, and coordinating metal die, were designed to work together to help you create cards in no time! Pair our new stamps and metal die with your favorite patterned or solid paper stacks and our shop products, mixing and matching the Sincere Sentiments: Congrats! stamped sentiments and dies, to create endless card possibilities!

Easter in Pockets with LeeAnne Jones

Hello, everyone! It’s LeeAnne here with an overview of the April 2022 kit and add-ons! This kit is sweet as spring with its bright and joyful color palette and sprinkling of hearts and flowers. I knew it would be perfect for documenting Easter 2021 in my family’s pocket page album.

Supplies | April 2022 KitFlower Die Cuts, Ledger Die Cut Tags, Easter Stickers, Flower Puffy Stickers, Warm Puffy Heart and Star Stickers, Tiny Shapes and Dots Puffy Stickers – Cool Tones, Tiny Shapes and Dots Puffy Stickers – Warm Tones, The Best Paper Stack

If you pay close attention to the design team projects, a couple of these photos may look familiar. I documented my daughter’s egg hunt victory at same Easter celebration using the February 2022 kit in the “Good Egg” layout found here. This is one of those tricky situations scrapbookers find ourselves in: Which album should something go in, or should it be documented multiple times? My approach is this: I include an overview of holidays in our family pocket page album. And if something about the day is extra special for any of us, I’ll document that specific story in a personal album as well—generally as a traditional scrapbook layout with just one or two big photos. How do you handle this? Please share in the comments below!

Pocket pages can be tricky. There is already a lot going on, so unless you simplify somewhere, it can look a mess. Using a kit helps bring consistency to all the elements, and then you can further hone the focus by limiting yourself to a specific color palette. Here, I chose yellow, pink, and green/teal for all the journal tags and embellishments. Isn’t that pink flower tag the sweetest!?

Another easy pocket page trick? Filling “dead” space in photos with embellishment clusters. This photo of my daughter could have been cropped to 3 x 4 inches, but I liked the little peek at the yard behind her. This is the third or so iteration of my parents’ pool over the years, and it’s fun to see how it’s changed in photos. When I see this in the future, I’ll likely note the chunky slide my parents bought for their grandkids. If you always crop tightly into subjects, you might miss some of the story that’s happening in the background.

My favorite old-is-new-again scrapbooking tool is my Fiskars paper edger scissors. I still have a bunch of them, but the one I continue to grab is called “ripple.” I use it to turn stickers and strips of paper into “washi tape” with a faux torn edge. Here, I used a couple of the Easter Stickers as my washi.

Lastly, journaling. While I really like the four quadrant “remember this” journaling tag in the kit, I’m going to save it for something else. Instead, I made my own journaling tag with one of the Ledger Die Cut Tags and a sheet from The Best Paper Stack (plus some fun embellishments). I thought adding these extra little photos and details helped tell a more complete story about the day.

That’s it! I can’t wait to see how everyone uses the April kit and add-ons. Happy documenting!

April Kit and Add-On Preview with Kim Chaffin

Happy April, friends! It’s Kim with you today. It is nearing a very exciting day around here: release day for the Elle’s Studio April 2022 monthly kit and extras! I’m super excited to be able to share a peek at the upcoming springy goodies! Let’s take a look at the layout I created to document my son with his violin.

Supplies | April 2022 Kit, Flower Die Cuts, Flower Puffy Stickers

The tags in this kit are like a ray of spring sunshine! The colors are bright and cheery, with sunny yellows and grassy greens, as well as a bouquet of spring colors and sentiments. I’ve trimmed down two of those to create my journaling strip.

My page title comes from a puffy phrase sticker in the Flower Puffy Stickers. There are several of these with sweet phrases, and there is also, you guessed it, a whole assortment of cute puffy flower stickers! If you’re a sucker for a puffy sticker as I am, you’ll be delighted to know that these are not the only puffy stickers in this release!

I used a zigzag stitch to pull together several different elements of this layout. The stitching is subtle, but it gives the page a finished look and creates unity across the pages. You could also use stitches to attach elements on the page for a bit more texture.

Of course, we know that April showers bring flowers, flowers, flowers, and I’ve saved my favorite thing for last. These bright little daisies are in the Flower Die Cuts. I’ve attached them with adhesive foam squares to give them a bit of a pop.

I’m in love with all the colors of posies, and they will be blooming on all of my projects in the near future! I can’t wait to see what you make with this lovely spring release, too!

Don’t miss the reveal of our new April 2022 kit and add-ons coming to the shop on Sunday, April 10th at 8am PT, and learn more about a subscription by clicking HERE and selecting the “subscribe & save” option!

March Digitals at Work with Sarah Kee

Hello, Elle’s friends. It’s me, Sarah, hosting today’s blog post, and I wanted to show you how to stretch pieces from your March kit and add-ons by using digital files. Have you tried digital files yet? They are such a great and affordable way to make the most out of your monthly kits! Here’s what I came up with:

Supplies | March 2022 KitMarch Cut Files, March Print and Cut Labels, Jane Tile Alphabet Cardstock Stickers – Fuchsia, Heart and Star Chipboard Stickers – Cool, Love You Paper Stack, Good Times Seals Stamp, Medium Jane Alphabet Stamp – Outline, Medium Jane Alphabet Stamp – Solid, For the Record Stamp, Medium Jane Alphabet Metal Die

I focused on using the March 2022 Cut Files and the March 2022 Print and Cut Labels.

I started off arranging four 3 x 3 inch photos. After cutting the circular die-cuts from the March 2022 Cut Files using the Love You Paper Stack, I positioned a handful of them all over my layout. I tucked some behind my photos as well as on top of my photos to create dimension.

In addition to the digital cut files, I also wanted to incorporate the March 2022 Print and Cut Labels. I added labels to all four of my photos. I also used one of the circular labels to to bring out my title.

To add more color to my background, I stamped various stamps from the Good Times Seals Stamp. The numbers on each photos were from a couple of the tags in the March Kit. I felt like they added a lot of color to each photos.

My title was stamped using the outline Medium Jane Alphabet Stamp and solid Medium Jane Alphabet Stamp. After I stamped my letters onto white cardstock, I cut them out using the Medium Jane Alphabet Metal Die. After adding my letters, I stamped directional arrow carets using the For the Record Stamp, pointing toward “SELFIES” to draw attention to it.

To further embellish my layout, I added various die-cuts from the monthly kit, as well as Heart and Star Chipboard Sticker hearts.

So what’d you think? We’d love to see your projects featuring any of the Elle’s digital files. Whether they be cut files or print and cut labels, these files are a great way to expand your kits. They are ready for you to use, over and over again! Each month, you’ll find new digital files that coordinate with the monthly kit, so don’t forget to check them out, and if you’re a monthly kit subscriber, you get them for free!

Join us and share your projects with us at our Elle’s Studio Facebook Group or on Instagram using the hashtag #EllesStudio. As always, thanks for reading and letting me share my work here. It’s always a pleasure to be making pretty things with Elle’s!

Kit-Inspired Pockets with Michelle Flynn

Hi friends! It’s Michelle and I’m so happy to be back with you today sharing how I used the last bits of my March kit and add-ons for inspiration in my pocket pages to document a simple weekend at home! Documenting our life in pocket pages is so rewarding and I tend to document all the things, but not every pocket page needs a lot of product on it to bring those memories to life. I was recently in a moment of feeling uninspired and I knew I needed to break out my kit to help inspire me!

Supplies | March 2022 Kit, February 2022 Kit, Love You Paper Stack, Good Times Seals Stamp, Currently Stamp, Daily Tabs Stamp, Good Times Seals Metal Die

I pulled out two of the peach-colored pocket tags and decided to crop them down to 3 x 3 inches.  I was initially thinking about adhering them next to tiny photos on a 4 x 6 pocket tag, but as I started cropping them, I felt inspired to do an entire sheet of 3 x 3 inch pocket tags and photos from this particular ordinary weekend. I love mixing sizes in my 12 x 12 inch album, so it was another way to switch things up.

For my top row I used that pretty peach pocket tag and grabbed the Good Times Seals Stamp along with the coordinating Good Times Seals Metal Die. Once I felt good about the size, it looked super cute, but I still wanted to give it my own touch and it worked! I then used one of my favorite go to stamps: the Daily Tabs Stamp for a few added sentiments.

On the third row, I used the Love You Paper Stack to back the cropped “Weekend Highlights” tag from the February 2022 Kit. When I initially cropped this pocket tag into 3 x 3 inch I didn’t want to let that title go to waste, so I decided to adhere it between the days marked as Saturday and Sunday with my tiny stapler. It was a fun way to get something different out of my pocket tag.

For the bottom row peach tag I used the Currently Stamp to allow me to write additional sentiments from this weekend. I really love how just a few of the Elle’s Studio pocket tags, stamps and metal dies inspired me to document some basic life photos of this simple weekend, and just brought it to life simply and beautifully.

I hope the next time you are feeling uninspired you’ll get out your monthly kit and just start playing! Your pocket tags come as they are so beautifully, but allow them to inspire your creativity and they’ll bring those simple, ordinary beautiful days to life!

Thanks so much for sharing your time with me today!  Tag #ellesstudio on Instagram with your own pocket page inspiration and don’t forget to join us over in the Elle’s Studio Facebook Group too! Have the best day friends!
