A Flower-Filled Grid Layout with Guest Brianna Lepper

Hello, Elle’s Studio fans! We are excited to welcome April guest designer, Brianna Lepper, back to the Elle’s Studio blog today! Brianna has another beautiful layout to share, making the most of our April 2022 kit and add-ons on your pages! Let’s take a look!

Hey, friends! It’s Brianna Lepper here again with my last layout as the April guest designer. I have LOVED working with the April 2022 kit and add-ons. It’s been an absolute treat to be here and I want to thank both Elle and Meghann for having me! Let’s get to my layout, and don’t forget to check out my process video that’s linked at the end of this post:

Supplies | April 2022 KitFlower Die CutsFlower Puffy Stickers, Fuchsia Puffy Alphabet StickersThe Best Paper Stack, Big Hugs Stamp, Big Hugs Metal Die

I love all of the patterned paper in The Best Paper Stack and wanted to showcase all of the lovely patterns. My way of doing this was by creating a grid. I love grid designs because it’s so fun to treat each shape like its own little layout. I cut 3 x 3 inch squares using some of the patterned paper, distressed the edges, popped them up on foam tape, and adhered them down to a piece of white cardstock. I even added a doodled border around each one using a black gel pen. Here’s one of the squares. I layered up a few of the Flower Die Cuts along with both the Flower Puffy Stickers and Warm Puffy Heart and Star Stickers.

Here’s another square. I fussy cut a few of the circular elements from one of the The Best Paper Stack patterned papers to use as additional embellishments.

For my title, I pulled out the Big Hugs Stamp and Metal Die and chose the “Keep Smiling” phrase. I stamped it out using black ink to pull more of the black from when I outlined each square. I matted my photo with scrap paper from the paper stack and adhered my title right on top of my photo. I put it in the center of my page and love how that stamped phrase just really pops off of the page.

Next, I added my journaling directly onto one of the 3 x 3 inch squares, and using the Fuchsia Puffy Alphabet Stickers, I added the year on one of the fussy seal circles.

I love labels and label-shaped die cuts and Elle’s Studio really comes through on both! They carry so many great layering bits and it makes me so happy. Tucking and layering are one of my favorite parts of putting together a page.

Here’s one last shot of this super-fun grid design:

Thank you so much for stopping by today and I hope that I’ve inspired you in some way! Do you like to add a lot of patterns to your layouts and do you enjoy working with grid designs? It’s a lot of fun seeing them come together, and I really enjoy embellishing all of the grid squares. Watch me create this layout here to get inspired to try out this layout using your own April products:

Thank you again for being here and I hope you have a great day!

Jazzing Up Your Pockets with Aimee Mertell

Hello Elle’s Studio friends! It’s Aimee back with you today sharing a springy, pocket page layout I created with the new April 2022 kit and add-ons. For this pocket page, I had a ton of fun creating my own pocket tags or really jazzing up the existing kit tags. Come along with me and I’ll show you how I did it!

Supplies | April 2022 KitApril 2022 LabelsFlower Die CutsThe Best Paper StackBig Hugs Stamp, Sincere Sentiments Congrats Add-On Stamp, For The Record Stamp, Big Hugs Metal Die

I was so inspired by the Big Hugs Stamp, and I knew right away I wanted to incorporate those adorable motifs and phrases on my pocket page. I used the stamp set and coordinating Big Hugs Metal Die to create a sun peeking out from behind a cloud and a phrase that reads, “keep smiling” and used them to embellish one of the kit tags. This added so much interest to my pocket page, and it really became the focal point of the whole layout.

I added even more of the Big Hugs Stamp die cut elements around the page for consistency and whimsy, like the adorable rainbow on this yellow, tag-shaped card. You could even take this method a step further by popping elements up on foam dots to make it super dimensional as well—who says pockets have to be flat?

The next tag I created was a fun journaling tag using the April 2022 Labels. I simply trimmed them out and adhered them in alternating colors to a white, 3 x 4 inch piece of cardstock and then added my journaling inside the labels. This technique allowed me to stay within my chosen color palette and I thought it was a fun mirror of another kit tag that I used on the left-hand side of the page. Using repeating shapes and elements makes for a more cohesive design.

Another simple, yet fun way to create or change up tags is to simply trim down coordinating patterned paper. I did exactly that with a beautiful piece of teal ledger paper from The Best Paper Stack. It made the perfect journaling card, since it had lines to house my journaling as well as a little bit of color! I also made a simple color change to one of my pocket cards by covering up an existing element. The color of the printed label on one of the kit tags didn’t fit with the page color scheme, so I exchanged it for a yellow label I found in the Flower Die Cuts pack—easy peasy and no one will ever know the difference!

There are so many ways to think outside the box when it comes to pocket pages! Remember that you are not limited to the tags that come in the kit. They are perfect to just slide into the pocket when you’re short on time, but it can also be a ton of fun enhancing them or even making them your own! I hope you were inspired today to spend a little extra creative time on your pockets and that you’ll consider thinking about your pocket tags in a new way. Until next time, happy creating!

Title Builder & Stationary Inspired with Meghann Andrew

Hello there, Elle’s Studio friends! It’s Meghann, and I’m excited to be on the blog with you today, (on my birthday no less!) to share my latest layout using my Title Builder collection and what I’ve been inspired by lately! Take a look at what I created this week:

Supplies | April 2022 KitFlower Die Cuts, Light Fuchsia Basic Shape Cardstock Stickers, Warm Puffy Heart and Star Stickers, Puffy Asterisk Stickers, Cool Solids Paper StackWarm Solids Paper Stack, Title Builder Stamp, Title Builder Vol. 3 Stamp, Title Builder Vol. 4 Stamp

This layout, with its eye-catching column of colorful stripes, began with a piece of stationary! Yes, stationary! I found a to-do list pad at my mother’s house that featured stripes in the same colorway and was instantly inspired. I knew it would create one awesome layout. So, I pulled out my Cool and Warm Solids Paper Stacks and started creating this focal point of my page that would run directly through my photo.

Color-blocking, or adding tone-on-tone embellishments on these hues was SO easy, thanks to our coordinating products! From die cuts in the April 2022 Kit to the new Light Fuchsia Basic Shape Cardstock Stickers, the Warm Puffy Heart and Star Stickers, and the Puffy Asterisk Stickers—all of the colors coordinated perfectly to add fun details to each of my stripes!

Once again, Title Builder came to the rescue to help me create the perfect title for this story, and I used Title Builder Vol. 3 and Title Builder Vol. 4 stamps to create it. I also added a fun detail on my vertical yellow stripe using the original Title Builder Stamp.

Want to see what inspired my color scheme, and watch this page come together? Check out my process video:

This layout was simple to create, but it may be my favorite so far this year! I hope you take some inspiration from it—whether you pull out your Title Builder stamps and play, or start designing a new-to-you color scheme! Whatever you do, happy creating, friends! Have a wonderful weekend!

Big Hugs Pick-Me-Up Cards with Suzanna Lee

Hiya, scrappy peeps and Elle’s Studio fans! It’s Suzanna here today to share with you some “pick me up” cards created using this month’s Big Hugs Stamp and coordinating Big Hugs Metal Die. If you have been around here a while, you might be picking your jaw up off the ground right about now, am I right?! You’re right, I don’t make cards. But I sure did for this blog post. It was surprisingly easy! And fun—even for this non-cardmaker.

Supplies | April 2022 Kit, Flower Die Cuts, Flower Puffy Stickers, Warm Puffy Heart and Star Stickers, The Best Paper Stack, Big Hugs Stamp, Big Hugs Metal Die, Layered Card Metal Die, Pocket, Frame, and Flip Up – Extra Frames Metal Die

For this first card, I focused on the “big hugs” sentiment, keeping is simple with the stamped and die cut sentiment popped up on one of the 3 x 4 inch pocket cards from the April 2022 Kit. A combination of metal cards with white cardstock make for a lovely frame around this for a bit more substance.

Just few other bits—a puffy heart, yellow patterned paper above and below and a twine bow wrap up the card for some complementary color and to brighten things up, just as I hope to brighten the day of the recipient of the card!

This second card is a bit more complex with a lot more stamping, and die cutting involved. What I love about these stamps (or any stamps for that matter) is that you can create your own custom embellishments. By stamping and using the dies for nice beveled cuts, I can create any color sentiment I want!

The metal dies are great not only for stamped images themselves but patterned paper, as well—like for the navy polka-dotted cloud that I layer with the stamped and negative space clouds. There are so many fun ways to use these products! This would work beautifully on a layout as well!

The raindrops here are a combination of patterned paper and stamping within the negative of the space left by the metal die! The possibilities are endless!

I hope you are inspired to pull out all the stops for some “Big Hugs”! Thanks for stopping in today!

Fresh Cut Flower Memories with Diane Dziuban

Hi Friends, it’s Diane here! I’m super excited to be on the blog today to share a two-page, 9 x 12 inch layout using the gorgeous April Kit and extras that were offered this month! I just love springtime and this kit has all the spring feels to it. The colors, and the flowers were just perfect for this time of year!

Supplies | April 2022 KitApril 2022 Printables, Flower Die Cuts, Flower Puffy Stickers, Warm Puffy Heart and Star Stickers, Tiny Shapes and Dots Puffy Stickers – Warm TonesThe Best Paper Stack, For The Record Stamp

For Valentine’s Day this year, my husband purchased tickets for a flower-picking experience at a local farm in early April. It was an amazing day, and I took so many photos of all the beautiful flowers! When I saw the April 2022 Kit, I knew it would be perfect for this outing! I had already decided that I wanted to print a large photo of the flowers that I picked, so I decided to pair it with a pocket page for the additional photos. The Flower Die Cuts were the perfect embellishment for the large photo and helped me create the perfect title for my layout.

On the pocket page side, I used journaling tags from the kit, as well as a digital journal tag from the April 2022 Printables. I wanted to keep all the tags white and pink, with the addition of green embellishments for the accent color. I also used that sweet gray tag at the top of my page because I was able to enjoy this day with my brother and sister-in-law. I always love our time together and I thought this little tag was just perfect.

My journaling tag was one that was offered with the April 2022 Printables. I used it to add list-type journaling. I always find that to be an easy way to get a lot of details on the page!

Thank you so much for stopping by to take a look at my layout! I had so much fun with this one!
Happy crafting with the gorgeous April 2022 kit and add-ons!

Tuesday Tutorial: Encouragement Card Trio with Aurélie Cormier

Hello, everyone! It’s Aurélie here today to show you what I created using the brand new April 2022 release!

Supplies | Flower Puffy Stickers, The Best Paper StackWarm Solids Paper Stack, Big Hugs Stamp, Big Hugs Metal Die, Pocket, Frame, and Flip Up Metal Die

As soon as I saw the Big Hugs Stamp, I knew I wanted to try to create a few cards with it.  I mean, it’s so perfect for positive, and not-so-positive occasions! Unfortunately, as of late, a lot of not-so-positive situations have been happening to friends and relatives of mine. Hopefully these encouragement cards will bring a bit of sunshine to their lives.

Now, do you see how the frame on that card creates a shadow to the left? Well, there’s a perfectly sound explanation for that. I actually created an interactive element for this card using the PPocket, Frame, and Flip Up Metal Die. If you want to learn more about how I created it, please watch this video:

So simple, yet effective, right? Naturally, I wanted to also keep things as simple as possible for the other two cards, so I opted to use similar elements from one card to the next: the frames, the dry-embossed clouds, the raindrops, the hand-stitched frames around the cards’ focal points and the sole ink color used. Not only did it create a cohesive look between the three cards, it also cut my design time to next-to-nothing!

The smaller raindrops were actually fussy-cut from one of the The Best Paper Stack patterns. I always love to see what papers are fussy-cutting-friendly. It stretches the creative possibilities of papers to boundless limits!

I’ll be honest: When I first started this card trio, I really thought I was going to die-cut stamped images and use them as design elements. However, fate steered me in another direction. I decided to use die-cut images as design elements for the stamped sentiments. Yes, the embossed clouds and the sun’s rays were die-cut using the Big Hugs Metal Die. The sun’s middle was created by punching a 1″ circle from one of the The Best Paper Stack‘s patterns. Super simple and totally fun. And there you have it! Three cards, ready to send to friends and family who may need a bit of encouragement because of unfortunate circumstances. By keeping it simple and using the same design elements in different ways, I had an absolute blast creating. Remember, not only can stamp sets be as versatile as you want them to be, but die sets absolutely can, too. Sometimes, you just have to look at what you have on hand from another angle to see just how much you can get out of them.

We can’t wait to see what you’ll come up with using the April 2022 kit and add-ons! Please share your projects with us at our Elle’s Studio Facebook Group or on Instagram using the hashtag #ellesstudio.

Sketch Day with Wei Wei Wang

Hello, Elle’s friends! It’s Wei Wei here with a layout featuring the April cut file with the April 2022 kit and add-ons. This is my first time hosting an Elle’s Studio sketch, I’m so excited and love this sketch so much! Let’s take a look at the sketch we’ll be working with:

And here’s what I created:

Supplies | April 2022 Kit, April Cut Files, April 2022 Labels, Flower Die CutsLight Fuchsia Basic Shape Cardstock Stickers, Flower Puffy Stickers, Warm Puffy Heart and Star Stickers, The Best Paper Stack, Big Hugs Stamp, Big Hugs Metal Die, Monthly Numbers Stamp, Summertime Tabs Stamp, Daily Tabs Stamp

I’m such a sucker for florals, so when I was looking through some of this month’s digital pieces, I fell in love with this floral piece in the April Cut Files.

First, I created the watercolor background with green distress ink and placed the floral cut file on it to highlight all the delicate elements.

I layered my photos with the dark green paper from The Best Paper Stack and placed them on the top of the cut file. The Flower Die Cuts fit in very nicely with the theme of my layout, and I totally adore this set! It’s definitely a must-have for creating a spring-themed project! I added several flowers and made a cluster around my photos.

For the “big title” above the photos, I decided to use “celebrate” from the April journaling tag as my title.

For my subtitle, I adhered the “beauty everywhere” phrase from the Flower Die Cuts with foam dots and layered two April 2022 Labels behind it. To decorate my layout further, I added several embellishments from the Flower Die Cuts, Light Fuchsia Basic Shape Cardstock Stickers, Flower Puffy Stickers, and Warm Puffy Heart and Star Stickers. I love how these adorable elements brought the layout to life.

To add a bit of a different element to my layout, I added a colorful rainbow from the Big Hugs Stamp. I also made some details on the blank space with stamping with the Summertime and Daily Tabs Stamps.

I am so happy with the result! I love working with Elle’s Studio products, which give you so many different possibilities to design with. I hope it inspired you!

The Best Paper Stack Patterns with Marsha Farris

Hey, Elle’s Studio friends! It’s Marsha here today, sharing a fun traveler’s notebook layout. My project features the amazing new The Best Paper Stack, along with the April 2022 kit and add-ons. The spring colors and flowers were perfect for documenting this family photo from my mom’s retirement party.

Supplies | April 2022 KitFlower Die Cuts, Flower Puffy Stickers, Warm Puffy Heart and Star StickersThe Best Paper Stack, Basic Shapes Stamp – Outline, Big Hugs Stamp, Sincere Sentiments Congrats Stamp, Sincere Sentiments Congrats Add-on Stamp, Monthly Numbers Stamp, Big Hugs Metal Die

I began by choosing several patterned papers from The Best Paper Stack to use on the layout. My idea was to include blocks of patterned papers spanning across the top and bottom of the spread. I adhered the trimmed papers to the pages and used my sewing machine and white thread to stitch along the edges of each one. This took a bit of time, but it was worth the effort! I love the texture the stitching provides and that it draws attention to the gorgeous patterns. Next, I added my photo and created an embellishment cluster at the top of the page using the Flower Die Cuts and Flower Puffy Stickers. I also included the colorful arrow die cuts from the April Kit.

I stamped a sentiment from the Sincere Sentiments Congrats Add-on Stamp below the photo, added my journaling, and stamped the date with the Monthly Numbers Stamp. A Flower Puffy Sticker was perfect to complete the left page.

To create the title for my layout, I stamped the phrase “Big Hugs” with the Big Hugs Stamp and cut it out with the coordinating Big Hugs Metal Die. I used detail scissors to carefully trim around the bottom portion of the word “Big” to use in my title. Next, I stamped “Congrats” with the Sincere Sentiments Congrats Stamp and black ink. I stamped a banner with the outline Basic Shapes Stamp onto a patterned paper, trimmed it out, and stamped a sentiment from the Sincere Sentiments Congrats Add-on Stamp onto it. Then, I created another embellishment cluster with a Flower Die Cut and Puffy Sticker. To complete the spread, I added a few heart stickers from the Warm Puffy Heart and Star Stickers

I hope I have given you some ideas for using the awesome The Best Paper Stack. Please share your creations with us in our Elle’s Studio Facebook Group or on Instagram using the hashtag #ellesstudio! Happy creating!
