A Magical Memories Beach Mini with Ashley Laura

Our Magical Memories collection was created with Disney theme park magic in mind, but it can be used for so much more! Today, design team member Ashley Laura is here to show us how she used it to document a fun summer trip! Let’s take a look!

Hi everyone! It’s Ashley here, sharing a fun little mini album with you all, focusing on the Magical Memories collection! I was so excited to use this collection and even though I haven’t been to Disney theme park in several years, it didn’t stop me from using it to document last summer’s beach trip!

I started by cutting down the Magical Memories 6″ x 6″ papers to 3″ x 6″. I absolutely adore this size for a fun little two-ring album. Once I added my papers onto my rings, I immediately began adding photos and quick, simple embellishments.

I just couldn’t help but use the castle wood veneer for our sandcastle photo!

I know it can be difficult to find the right adhesive for acetate pieces so one of my favorite techniques when creating a mini is to punch a hole right into the acetate piece and pop it in the album. You can do this with several of the larger pieces for some added texture.

I kept the pages simple so that I could focus on finishing the project. I absolutely have moments where I want to keep adding but I also know that there’s a better chance that I will finish a project if I keep the pages simple.

Don’t you all worry about making your pages double-sided! I left my back-side pages white and it was so fun to document on a white background along with patterned papers!

Here’s a fun idea: if you travel with family members, create the album as a gift for them!

Thanks for stopping by the Elle’s Studio blog today!

Thoughtful Cards with Daniela

Our new Magical Memories collection is perfect for documenting your Disney park trip, but you can use it for so much more! Design team member Daniela has a special treat to share with you today: cards created with a thoughtful and special birthday gift in mind. Let’s check them out!

Hi everybody! It’s Daniela here, and I’m sharing a few cards with you guys today. I used the new Magical Memories collection to create a set of cards for a dear friend of mine because I intend to give her a special birthday gift this year: a fun day out, just the two of us. Adult life often is way too busy to see friends as often as we’d like to, so a special day seems to be a good idea to me!

These are the two cards I’m planning to give her:

Supplies | Magical Memories Journaling TagsMagical Memories Acetate Die CutsMagical Memories At the Castle Wood Veneers, Magical Memories 6×6 Paper Stack, Magical Memories Stamp, Noteworthy – 12×12 Paper Collection

The first card is for inviting her to a special day, so I chose the sentiment, “ready for fun!” I won’t give her too many details—the day should be full of surprises and I’m really looking forward to it. I also used some stamped hearts from the Magical Memories Stamp on this card to express how much she means to me.

I created a second card that I want to give to her together with some photos a couple of weeks after our day off. This way, she will have a little keepsake. Printed pictures are worth so much more than all the digital ones. I’m sure we’ll be having a good time, so the card says, “this was magical” and “100% fun.”

I wanted to make a set of cards that look nice when putting them into the album together, so I tried to use the same colors on both cards: teal, pink, and yellow, plus black and white.

Both cards have different layers and dimensional effects. The Magical Memories Acetate Die Cuts I used on the cards add a special texture. There are also little details like color splashes, shiny black acrylic paint drops and a ribbon to create a special look.

The second card also holds an acetate scalloped die-cut, this time it is placed on the right side of the card. The design of the castle on the Magical Memories Journaling Tag is so pretty! Even if our day is not Disney related, this castle represents magical moments and girl’s stuff, so I felt that it was perfect for this little keepsake.

I’m really looking forward to giving these cards to my friend. Something handmade is always a nice way to show how much we care. I hope you like my little gift set!

Have you already started using the Magical Memories collection? Don’t forget to share your creations on Instagram using the hashtag #EllesStudio. It’s always great to see what everybody is creating! Thanks so much for stopping by and have a great day!

Princess Pockets with Patricia Roebuck

Hello! It’s Patricia with you today! Whether you have past memories from a Disney trip to document or have a trip planned, using the new Magical Memories collection in your pocket pages takes you to the magic of the trip and the experience instantly.  One thing I have always loved about a Disney trip is trying to find the hidden Mickeys around the park. That same idea can be so easily done with this new collection while meeting a princess, or two or three!

Supplies | Magical Memories Journaling Tags, Magical Memories Puffy Stickers, Magical Memories Acrylic Hearts and Stars, Magical Memories Wood Veneer Confetti, Magical Memories Phrase Stickers, Magical Memories At The Castle Wood Veneers, Magical Memories Acetate Die Cuts, Magical Memories 6 x 6 Paper StackMagical Memories Stamp

There are so many ways to add texture, color and dimension in your pocket pages and still capture what the memory is all about. For my title card, the Magical Memories Journaling Tags and Stamp created the base of the layers, then the amazing new Magical Memories embellishments finished my title card with that “ooh ahh” that you expect from all things Disney related.

Instead of printing a 4″ x 6″ photo to completely fill my next pocket, I used the patterned paper trimmed to fit the pocket, then created a cascade effect going along the lines of the paper using the Magical Memories stamps in various inks to coordinate with my photos. The sentiment, “something to remember” from the Magical Memories Stamp is not only perfect to capture this memory, but a cute way to peek through the Acetate Die Cut, layered under my 3″ x 4″ photo.  This card has lots of layers, but is relatively flat because of the stamps and acetate.

I think it goes without saying that most of us have a lot of photos from our Disney experiences. The small 2″ x 2″ pockets really help to get lots of photos documented, but also are a great base for adding to the layered look of your spread.  I printed my photos smaller than the 2″ x 2″ pockets so that there would be some see-through to the next page.

I continued the see-through look by using the Acetate Die Cuts and the Wood Veneer Confetti to fill the rest of the pockets.  I painted each confetti on both sides, let them dry, then added a translucent glitter paint over them for that extra sparkle.  These pockets were perfect for meeting the princesses.

For my next page, I used my most favorite photos that really captured the feel of our time at the castle to complete this memory, filled them in the 3″ x 4″ pockets, then filled the rest of the pocket page with Magical Memories Journaling Tags.

This collection offers so many easy ways to bring you right back to that memory.  The Journaling Tag die cuts, Phrase Stickers, Acetate Die Cuts, and a Puffy Sticker added the perfect touch directly to my photos.  Similar to the cascade effect I created on the patterned 4″ x 6″ pocket with the Magical Memories Stamp, I worked with the design of the journaling tags to add more stamping to them, then finished them with puffy stickers, and the “at the castle” banner wood veneer piece from the At The Castle Wood Veneers

Have you found all of the Mickeys?  You should have spotted a total of 11!  I absolutely loved working with the Magical Memories Stamp to re-create that same magical feeling from our Disney trip.

The Magical Memories collection has so many fun ways to add hidden Mickeys. Pick a favorite, like I did by using the Magical Memories Stamp, or use some of the new embellishments to add even more ways, and re-create the magic of your Disney memories!

A First Time Magical Memories Layout with Wendy Antenucci

Firsts are always worth documenting, but when they happen at our favorite theme-parks, they’re all the more magical! Today design team member Wendy Antenucci is sharing a layout that documents a first for her son: a BIG ride and his funny reaction to it. You probably have a similar story to tell, and our Magical Memories collection can help you do that! Let’s take a look!

Hello everyone! It’s Wendy here today with a layout using the new Magical Memories collection! We are a total Disney family and are so blessed to live close to Disney World, so many of our memories are magical. Today I am sharing my little boys adventure on Big Thunder Mountain:

Supplies | Magical Memories Journaling Tags, Magical Memories 6 x 6 Paper Stack, Magical Memories Puffy Stickers, Magical Memories At The Castle Wood Veneers, Magical Memories Wood Veneer Confetti, Magical Memories Stamp, Large Jane Alpha Stamp – Solid, Large Jane Alphabet Metal Die

To document my little ones’ first adventure on this roller coaster, I chose the striped pattern from the Magical Memories 6 x 6 Paper Stack to show movement and to help create the theme of flying.  The blue star pattern matched my picture and provided a place to house my photo.

I thought it would be fun to have some confetti “flying” around to further the idea of flying and things flying past you as you soar down the track, so I used my circle punches to cut out a few red and yellow circles. These also added to the typical Disney colors on my layout. I also used the Magical Memories Puffy Stickers and Wood Veneer Confetti which I inked in red and covered in glossy accents.  A few stamped sentiments from the Magical Memories Stamp and my journaling continued the feel of motion.

I wanted my title to reference flying, since my son kept saying, “I’m flying!” during the ride. To the rescue: my beloved Large Jane Alpha Stamps and Metal Die—oh be still my heart! I wanted the title to be bold as if it was being yelled, so I chose to stamp with black ink.  The blue, “let’s do that again,” die cut mirrored the star paper and added a pop of fun in such a bold font.

A few fun die cut sentiments found in the Magical Memories Journaling Tags brought in pops of color and helped to further tell my story.

Finally, I added the wood veneer castle from the At The Castle Wood Veneers to finish the story my son’s fun new ride at Magic Kingdom. Of course, he hasn’t tried the ride again, and he hates when we play the video of him screaming, “I’m flying!” It was definitely a magical memory that his siblings won’t let him forget!

I love telling all of our stories, even when a ride didn’t go as well as one might have imagined. I have the same story for two more of our boys and even one of myself and my total FEAR of anything fast! Magical Memories will not only help you to tell your Disney adventures, but it is such a great staple collection for all those magical memories you don’t want to forget!

Fun In Pockets with Guest Designer Nicole Kerr

We have so loved having our May guest, Nicole Kerr, with us on the blog this month! Using our May kit and extras, she has shared an amazing, clean grid-style layout and a colorful mixed-media page to inspire us, and today she’s switching gears with two pocket page spreads! Let’s see what she’s created.

Hello crafty friends! It’s Nicole here, and today I’m back with my final guest design project this month. I’m sad this has come to an end, however I’m so happy that I got the chance to inspire all of you this month!  I’ve had so much fun and I hope that someday I can do this again! For my final project, I’ve used the May 2019 Kit and add-ons to create four pages in my 6” x 8” pocket page album. Let’s take a look!

Supplies | May 2019 Kit, May Labels, Hazel Alphabet Stickers – White, Fuchsia Puffy Alphabet Stickers, Puffy Heart Stickers – Summer Mix, Everyday Goodness Epoxy Stickers, XO Wood Confetti, Hand Drawn Acrylic Hearts, Beautiful Day 6 x 6 Paper Stack, Large Jane Alphabet Stamp – OutlineLarge Jane Alphabet Metal Die

This was such a busy week for my family! We welcomed two new puppies into my parents’ home and one of my sons had an art show.  Because there was so much color happening in all of my photos, I attempted to stick to a teal and purple theme, however it kind of evolved into a multi-color spread in the end. This happens a lot with my pocket page projects, and that’s perfectly okay with me!

For my title card, I used the Large Jane Outline Alphabet Stamp to stamp out the large “WK” and finished the title with the Hazel Alphabet Stickers. I love how this looks like a typewriter text!

One of my favorite things to do lately has been to create small shaker pockets within my pages. For this spread, I created two smaller pockets. To make these, I used my Fuse tool along with the XO Wood Confetti, Puffy Heart Stickers and Everyday Goodness Epoxy Stickers that I stuck back to back with another of the same size. This allows for it to have color and images on both sides as well as move freely within the pocket. The WRMK Fuse tool “melts” the two layers of clear plastic together so those small embellishments don’t fall out.

Supplies | May 2019 Kit, Fuchsia Puffy Alphabet Stickers, Puffy Heart Stickers – Summer Mix, Butterflies and Flowers Puffy Stickers, Everyday Goodness Epoxy Stickers, XO Wood Confetti, Hand Drawn Acrylic Hearts, Beautiful Day 6 x 6 Paper Stack, The Good Life Stamp

I just LOVE the colors in the “RUN, WALK, RIDE, JUMP, PLAY, SWING” 4″ x 6″ tag from the May 2019 Kit that I used on my second spread.  It fit the story I wanted to document of our new Golden Retriever, Cooper, perfectly! I love how last month’s Butterflies and Flowers Puffy Stickers coordinate so well with this month’s colors, especially this particular card. They even match the floral circle Everyday Goodness Epoxy Sticker from this month’s release, too! The yellow flowers are my favorite and I was so excited to finally use it!

Thanks so much for stopping by today, for checking out all of my posts, and a huge “thank you” to Elle for having me! I’ve had a great time! If you would like to keep seeing all of the projects I create and you’re on Instagram, please stop over and follow me at @colebys1981. Until next time, happy scrapping!

Hello friends! My name is Nicole and I’m so very excited to be here!  I’m a 30-something mama of two boys and married to my hero and best friend of 14 years. I work in the Accounting and Marketing field by day and scrapbook and paint by night. After being introduced to the card making community about 9 years ago, my love for scrapbooking was found and has continued to grow over the years. I am truly blessed to have the opportunity to inspire others thru my visions, creations and love of color. Never be afraid to show the world what it is that you create. There is no right or wrong…just be you!

Thank you so much, Nicole, for inspiring us this month with your beautiful projects! We have loved having you!

Capturing in Color with Mary-Ann Maldonado

Summer memories are just calling to be documented in bright and bold colors, which is why our May kit and add-ons are so vibrant and fun! Today, design team member Mary-Ann Maldonado is with us to share some superbly creative ways that she used our newest supplies to document a fun and COLORFUL summer memory! Let’s take a look:

Hello Elle’s Fans! I hope you are a fan of color, because on this layout, I went all out! I cut almost every sheet of paper from the new Beautiful Day 6 x 6 Paper Stack into a small triangles. Then I arranged and re-arranged until I found a pattern that I liked.  I wanted ALL of the color on this layout to match the “run, walk, ride, jump, play, swing” tag from the May 2019 Kit.

Supplies | May 2019 Kit, May Blank Label Stickers, Teal Puffy Alphabet Stickers, Fuchsia Puffy Alphabet Stickers, Hand Drawn Acrylic Hearts, Everyday Goodness Epoxy Stickers, Play Wood Veneer Words, Beautiful Day 6 x 6 Paper Stack

For the journal block and my photo, I used packaging from the Puffy Alphabet Stickers as a base. I love that the hanging hole shows. Repurpose and reuse, right? I emphasized that my boy and his dog were swinging with the Play Wood Veneer Word “swing” directly after the word “swing” from the 3″ x 4″ tag in the May Kit.

I really wanted to use the May Blank Label Stickers in an unordinary way.  Why not use them as they are? Instead of wasting the entire sheet of stickers, I sliced down the center of the sticker sheet and tucked half behind the photo layers, creating more color and leaving the other half to use later.

Since the Beautiful Day 6 x 6 Paper Stack patterns and May Blank Label Stickers were full of color, I added embellishments to match the papers, adding a textural, monochromatic look instead of standing out.  I really love how it turned out!

Puffy sticker journaling in both teal and fuchsia, and fussy cutting the word “fun” from a 3″ x 4″ tag in the May 2019 Kit created the story behind my photo at the top left corner.

I encourage you to cut your papers into a non-traditional shape, use up your packaging and be creative with your labels! You might be surprised at what fun design you can come up with!

Inspired By with Kristina Proffitt

Hi friends! It’s Kristina Proffitt with you today, and one of my most favorite ways to get out of a creative slump is to look at other layouts that people have done and use them as inspiration! Today I’m sharing a layout that was inspired by Wendy’s awesome “First Word” layout from the April design team gallery. I used inspiration from it to create a fun 6″ x 8″ spread of my son Luke with his new super soaker water gun. This photo just cracks me up, and I knew it had to have a little spread of its own.

Here is Wendy’s original layout that I used for inspiration:

I loved Wendy’s use of the negative die cut alphabet on the right side, so I used the outdoor word die cut from the May 2019 Cut Files, cutting it in white and backing it with a piece of patterned paper from the new Beautiful Day 6 x 6 Paper Stack on the left side of my spread.

Supplies | May 2019 Kit, May 2019 Cut Files, Everyday Goodness Epoxy Stickers, Beautiful Day 6 x 6 Paper Stack, The Good Life Stamp, Everyday Phrases Vol. 2 Stamp, Mini Dated Stamp

I mimicked the star stickers on Wendy’s layout using some of the round Everyday Goodness Epoxy Stickers around my die cut words.

I loved how colorful Wendy’s layout is and pulled out pieces from the May 2019 Kit that were bright and fun, too! They went perfectly with the fun theme of the photo and the memory, so it all came together super easily, which as a busy Mama, I SO appreciated!

I also pulled out some great stamp sets that were released this month: The Good Life Stamp and the Everyday Phrases Vol. 2 Stamp and used them on the spread as well. Stamps are such a simple and fun way to add some more interest to your scrapbooking, and they are so versatile! These two stamp sets are a must to have in your collection, friends!

I really love the woodgrain 3″ x 4″ journaling tag from the May Kit and I loved that it matched the patterned paper that I used on the opposite side. It really tied the left and right sides together and gave me another spot to stamp on and add the date using the Mini Dated Stamp.

It’s so much fun to be inspired by other people and then to use that inspiration to translate your memories into layouts and pages of your own.

I hope that if find yourself in a creative slump or if you’re just wanting to try something new that you’ll find some inspiration out there (Elle’s blog has A LOT of great inspiration!) and use that to fuel your creativity the next time you go to document your memories. It’s so much fun! What’s NOT fun? Getting soaked with that super soaker while I’m snapping photos of Luke. Ha!
