Inspired By with Kristina Proffitt

Hi friends! It’s Kristina Proffitt with you today, and one of my most favorite ways to get out of a creative slump is to look at other layouts that people have done and use them as inspiration! Today I’m sharing a layout that was inspired by Wendy’s awesome “First Word” layout from the April design team gallery. I used inspiration from it to create a fun 6″ x 8″ spread of my son Luke with his new super soaker water gun. This photo just cracks me up, and I knew it had to have a little spread of its own.

Here is Wendy’s original layout that I used for inspiration:

I loved Wendy’s use of the negative die cut alphabet on the right side, so I used the outdoor word die cut from the May 2019 Cut Files, cutting it in white and backing it with a piece of patterned paper from the new Beautiful Day 6 x 6 Paper Stack on the left side of my spread.

Supplies | May 2019 Kit, May 2019 Cut Files, Everyday Goodness Epoxy Stickers, Beautiful Day 6 x 6 Paper Stack, The Good Life Stamp, Everyday Phrases Vol. 2 Stamp, Mini Dated Stamp

I mimicked the star stickers on Wendy’s layout using some of the round Everyday Goodness Epoxy Stickers around my die cut words.

I loved how colorful Wendy’s layout is and pulled out pieces from the May 2019 Kit that were bright and fun, too! They went perfectly with the fun theme of the photo and the memory, so it all came together super easily, which as a busy Mama, I SO appreciated!

I also pulled out some great stamp sets that were released this month: The Good Life Stamp and the Everyday Phrases Vol. 2 Stamp and used them on the spread as well. Stamps are such a simple and fun way to add some more interest to your scrapbooking, and they are so versatile! These two stamp sets are a must to have in your collection, friends!

I really love the woodgrain 3″ x 4″ journaling tag from the May Kit and I loved that it matched the patterned paper that I used on the opposite side. It really tied the left and right sides together and gave me another spot to stamp on and add the date using the Mini Dated Stamp.

It’s so much fun to be inspired by other people and then to use that inspiration to translate your memories into layouts and pages of your own.

I hope that if find yourself in a creative slump or if you’re just wanting to try something new that you’ll find some inspiration out there (Elle’s blog has A LOT of great inspiration!) and use that to fuel your creativity the next time you go to document your memories. It’s so much fun! What’s NOT fun? Getting soaked with that super soaker while I’m snapping photos of Luke. Ha!
