Walk This Way with Kim Chaffin

Hello, crafty friends! It’s Kim Chaffin, and I’m happy to be back to share a layout I created using the July 2021 Kit and add-ons! I love this kit so much for all of the outdoorsy bits and pieces. Our family loves to camp and hike, and I know that I will use this kit for so many stories of our outdoor adventures! I like to mix things up when I scrapbook, and this layout is a mix of many elements.

Supplies | July 2021 KitJuly 2021 Cut Files, The Great Outdoors Printables, Adventure Chipboard Stickers

For this layout, I mixed a 6 x 12 inch page with a 12 x 12 inch page; I mixed pocket scrapbooking with traditional, and I mixed digital and physical elements!

I used the large photo of my daughter and son exploring the water below a waterfall as a canvas on which to tell the story of this hike. When using a photo this way, I look for areas that could be used as space for a journaling block or title. The rocky space at the bottom and trees above worked well for those purposes.

I used a printable pocket tag from The Great Outdoors Printables to create the journaling block, and I embellished that with a chipboard tree from the Adventure Chipboard Stickers. I adhered the whole thing with pop dots to give some added dimension.

As soon as I saw the “This Way” July 2021 Cut File, I thought of the Run-D.M.C. song, Walk This Way. Of course, that kind of went along with my hiking-themed scrapbook page. I created the “Walk” portion of the title with a white script font. I layered the “This Way” cut file over it in Photoshop, and colored it a pale green that was pulled from my photo.

I love layers, and I embellished my pocket page tags and photos with layers of chipboard stickers from the Adventure Chipboard Stickers. I knew as soon as I saw those “Go See Do” stickers that they would find a home on a layout quickly!

I used the 6 x 12 inch page protector to hold a few extra pictures from the hike as well as a 3 x 4 pocket tag from the July 2021 Kit. I arranged these pieces in the pockets so that the embellishments created a triangle for visual interest.

I love the look of mixing sizes and elements, and I love this fun, nature-y kit. I can’t wait to see the ways you use it to document your outdoor adventures!
