La La Love Color with Jen McMurtrey

Hey friends! It’s Jen today and I am so excited to be returning for another year with the Elle’s Studio creative team!

Can we all just take a moment to discuss the amazing new Love is 6 x 8.5 Paper Stack that Elle released this month? I mean, seriously, the colors and patterns are gorgeous and, bonus, the papers are now larger! I was so inspired by the new paper stack that I used six of the papers on one layout. Six!

Let’s take a look at how those six patterned papers and a couple of stamps turned into this project about my kiddos:

Lately, I’ve been on a rainbow kick, which inspired me to use the strips of patterned paper from the Love is 6 x 8.5 Paper Stack for the background. Using two inch pieces, I staggered them vertically on white cardstock and machine-stitched them in place. Next, I folded the borders and distressed them using a bone folder to press and tear the edges.

This month’s Love You Lots Stamp is so cute and I adore the doodle heart in particular. To add interest to the strips of paper, I stamped several lines in corresponding colors on vellum and then went over them with the heart in black ink. After everything was dry, I fussy cut the hearts and adhered them to the papers using a Xyron.

When these photos of my kids were taken, they begrudgingly agreed to sit on the hearth at my mom’s house and pose for the camera. However, despite some great photos, the candid shots are the ones that I love the most—the ones of them speaking to each other when they thought I wasn’t taking pictures. Because I wanted to focus on the photos, I placed the title directly on them using the La La Love You Puffy Stickers.

In addition to the title, I used the Everyday Tabs Stamp and Die and added a couple of the Little Moments Leatherette Stickers to the photos for more texture and depth.

Lastly, I used the Months of the Year Stamp to add the fun circle outlines around the vellum hearts.

I can’t wait to continue creating with the new Love is Paper Stack and I am excited to see your projects as well! Be sure to tag @ellesstudio on social media posts and use the hashtag #EllesStudio so we don’t miss out. Thanks for stopping by today!
