We are SO excited to welcome our June guest designer to the ES blog today: Elizabeth Heinz! Elizabeth’s clean, graphic pocket pages and traveler’s notebooks are full of amazing photography, and most importantly an emphasis on the story the wants to tell, and we are excited to share how she is using the June Kit and add-ons to tell her summer stories over the next few weeks. Let’s take a look at her first project!
Hello friends. I’m delighted to share my first project using a variety of the bright and colorful products in the June release. I chose to create a two-page layout that will live in my 6″ x 8″ “me” album. My design was inspired by a layout done by the gifted Brandi Kincaid.
Supplies | June 2019 Kit, Summer Puffy Stickers, Green Puffy Alphabet Stickers, Summer Wood Veneers, Magical Memories Phrase Stickers, Beautiful Day 6 x 6 Paper Stack, Mini Dated Stamp
My mind began swirling when I saw the “SUMMERTIME FAVORITE” wood veneer piece in the Summer Wood Veneers.
As soon as I read it, I began thinking of things I love about summer. As my list grew, I thought it would be fun to include a collage of pictures to illustrate my words.
To start, I created a 6″ x 8″ canvas in Photoshop. To add interest (and support the horizontal or vertical lens of the photo), I sized the photos at different dimensions. Since the collage was busy, I left a large white border to provide separation. I printed it on 8-1/2×11 photo paper on my Canon Pixma MG7720.
After my photo was printed, I embellished. I put the Green Puffy Alphabet Sticker numbers on each photo to support my list. I also used the Magical Memories Phrase Stickers on five photos (I almost always do things in odd numbers).
Since I couldn’t find words to match my photos and I wanted to add some color, I cut three strips from patterned paper in the Beautiful Day 6 x 6 Paper Stack and used my vintage typewriter.
Next, I added the puffy sun from the Summer Puffy Stickers. For the center, I used a pinked circle punch and a 4″ x 6″ journaling tag from the June 2019 Kit.
For my journaling, I created a 3″ x 8″ canvas in Pages. I typed my words using my favorite font, Remington Noiseless, leaving space at the top for a title and in between each item on my list to use the versatile Mini Dated Stamp to number my list.
After printing, I stamped the numbers 1-11. I cut the lime green 3″ x 4″ journaling tag from the June Kit to add some color along with a pink puffy heart from the Summer Puffy Stickers. Finally, I used dimensional tape to add the “SUMMERTIME FAVORITE” wood veneer piece (my inspiration for the layout) to the top.
I hope I provided some insight and inspiration today! Happy crafting!
My name is Elizabeth and I reside in Peoria, Arizona. I’m married and happily raising two boys, Bailey (19) and Joshua (16). I also have one affectionate pup, Bond. I work part-time at Midwestern University as a Standardized Patient. I pretend to be a patient for students going through their clinical rotations. When I’m not crafting, I enjoy hiking, reading and gardening. I’m PASSIONATE about writing my story. It’s not remarkable but it’s MINE.
See more of Elizabeth’s work on her Instagram account, until she shares her next project using the June Kit and add-ons with us next week!
