Combining Pockets and Layouts with Suzanna Stein

The beginning of the year is a great time to take stock of how last year went and make some intentions or goals for yourself. In the combination pocket page and layout that returning design team member Suzanna Stein created, she’s doing just that using our January kit and add-ons! Let’s take a look:

Hey there crafty pals! I’m excited to share this layout with you, created using the January Kit and extras. I combined a pocket page and a 6″ x 8″ layout to capture the beginning of the year in my personal album.

Supplies | January 2019 Kit, Happy Heart Stamp, All My Heart 6 x 6 Paper Stack, Sweetheart Puffy Stickers, Heart and Star Acetate Die Cuts, Wood Veneer Hearts, Happiness Found Stickers, Black and White Polka Dot Puffy Alphabet Stickers, January Labels, Here and Now Stamp, Small Months of the Year Wood Veneers, Large Jane Number Stamp

I started with a couple of journaling tags from the January 2019 Kit on the left page, added some embellishments, then stamped and fussy cut 2019 using the Large Jane Number Stamp.

For the bottom journaling tag, I used the All My Heart Paper Stack to create a 4″ x 6″ tag, and I topped with an embellishment cluster of tags, alphas, and phrase stickers.

I used the 6″ x 8″ page as a blank canvas to create a mini scrapbook layout.  I used the same style I use for my 8.5″ x 11” layouts—a few pieces of paper from the All My Heart Paper Stack and journaling tags from the January Kit for layering. I backed my photo, and once it was in place, I started embellishing. I went with embellishment clusters, just as I would on a full-size layout, and created a diagonal line for the eye to follow using stamped hearts, acetate die cut hearts, and wood veneer hearts.

I loved using the combination of layout and pocket page in this project! I hope this gave you a few ideas to use on your next project!
