Circles of Fun with Guest Designer Kim Watson

Our guest designer, Kim Watson, is back with us today, showing us how you can still document memories in a beautiful way—even 14 years from when her photos were taken! It’s proof that you’re never to “far behind” in this hobby to document cherished memories.

Hi Elle’s Studio Fans, Kim Watson back again with my last project as the May guest designer.

For todays post, I printed two super cute pics of my son, Max, at 9 months. I have an ongoing baby album for him focusing on his milestones & fun memories from each month. This one will go into his 9 month section. I love that even though he is 14 now, I am still scrapping baby photos. Over the years my style has changed so much & I find the more modern, fresher looking pages help to balance out the ‘weird’ pages I scrapped in the beginning of my scrappy journey.

Inspired by the balls in the photos and the fantastic Noteworthy 6″ x 6″ Paper Stack, I decided to emulate the balls as a background making the most of a variety of the great mini patterns included in the pad. I love that they are not exclusively girl orientated but work across the board, perfect for a ‘boy’ style page.

I placed the punched circles in vertical rows down the page and
machine stitched them in place. A stamped sentiment from the Noteworthy Stamp on the grid paper works so well, adding a punch of black. A scattering of little embellishments on a few of the circles add subtle interest, like those adorable puffy white hearts in the Spring Mix Puffy Heart Stickers. I can never get enough of those!

A combination of Noteworthy Puffy Stickers, Cardstock Alphabet Stickers and stamped sentiments make for a great title. I then layered up Noteworthy Blank Labels and a Arrow Label Sticker to add my hand written journaling.

A Currently Wood Veneer Tab, punched card stock tab and a Noteworthy Epoxy Sticker look so cute on my photos! Raising them with foam gives the whole cluster a fabulous dimensional vibe. I love that Elle thinks of everything—little bits and pieces that add understated interest to any part of the page.

Look how awesome the circles look when the edges are turned up! I personally love the little shadows formed by dimensional pieces. They create depth & interest and make for great viewing in my albums.

Wow! I can’t believe a month has passed already. I have loved every minute being here and working with these awesome products! Thank you for your warm welcome and for letting me share in the Elle’s Studio fun!

I live on a mountainside with her family in a beautiful seaside suburb just outside of Cape Town, South Africa. Life next to the ocean, surrounded by nature, gives me an endless source of content for my pages, which I would describe as being full of texture, layers, color and, of course, my trademark stitching. I am privileged to have been working in the scrapbooking industry for 12 years in many capacities, as designer, writer & in graphic design for product development. It is my passion & makes me excited to go to the office every day.
