Family Fun with Tracey Fox

Today we welcome Tracey Fox back to the ES blog for her final post with us. For her first and second post she focused on our new exclusive kit and extras, but today she’s creating beautiful things with our new Family Fun collection! Let’s see what she created!

I have had SO much fun getting to play with Elle’s Studio’s awesome products as the September guest designer, and I’m especially excited to get to share one more project with you this month—this 12″ x 12″ page using the new Family Fun collection!

Supplies | Family Fun 12″ x 12″ Paper Collection, Family Fun Double-sided Journaling Tags, Family Fun Bits and Pieces, Family Fun Cutouts, Family Fun Puffy Stickers, Family Fun Stamp, Family Fun Acrylic Shapes

To best match this photo of my husband and our nephew and the gray circles on the background paper I chose from the collection, I went through the Family Fun collection and pulled only blue, red, and gray embellishments to use on my page. Not only do I love how these colors look together, but it made the layout come together so quickly once I limited my choices in this way.

Inspired by the trend I’ve been seeing lately of large circles on layouts, I knew I wanted to arrange the elements on my page in a large circle with my photo and title as focal points along it. I really love how the large, colorful circle looks against the background pattern of smaller, gray circles!

To create the focal points first, I cut my typed journaling into strips and arranged them on a tag from the Family Fun Bits and Pieces. I also stamped the words “Uncle & Nephew” using the Family Fun Stamp. (The stamps from the collection are so versatile for telling family stories, since they list so many different family relationships!) Using papers from the 6″ x 6″ Paper Stack, I added layers behind the photo and a journaling tag to better anchor them on the page. I also added some baker’s twine to the tag and adhered the twine to the layout.

For the title, I used the printed “family” diecut from the Family Fun Bits and Pieces along with the word “fun” from the Family Fun Puffy Stickers.

Next, I arranged the blue, red, and gray embellishments I had chosen from the Family Fun Bits and Pieces, Puffy Stickers, Cutouts, and Acrylic in a large circle around the page. All of the little houses in the collection were perfect to help tell this story of a fun night at my parents’ house spent with family. I filled in some of the gaps in the circle with the plus signs from the Family Fun Stamp and a few ink splatters.

As a finishing touch, and for one last pop of red on the page, I added the heart-patterned branding strip from the one of the papers in the 12″ x 12″ Paper Collection along the side of the layout.

Thanks so much for checking out my pages this month. I know you will have as much fun as I had playing with this awesome new collection!
