Color in Pockets with Candace Perkins

Our August kit has an array of beautiful colors, but Candace Perkins can always combine them on her pocket page spreads in the perfect way, pairing them with plenty of white space to create the perfect combination. We know you’ll be inspired by what she created!

Hello again, it’s Candace with you today to share a fun & colorful pocket page spread. This week has been sitting my album for months just waiting for the perfect kit with coordinating colors to make my photos really pop. I am so happy because the August kit was just perfect for this week! Here is a look at the full spread!

Because I had all the photos printed and ready to go I was able to simply slide in the journaling tags from the August Kit and add a few intentional embellishments to create balance among the colors in the spread.

The Wood Veneer Pocket Fillers are my favorite embellishment from this month! They add the prefect pop of fun to any project. I needed a little bit more red on the left side of the spread so I decided to add a cute acrylic star from the Patriotic Stars and Hearts Mixed Acrylic on top of the veneer.

I adore tags that prompt you to add a photo and a story. On the blue tag, I added a small 2″ x 2″ black & white photo then ran it through my typewriter to add my journaling. I like the addition of a different size photo in the spread to break up all the journaling along the 3″ x 4″ tags.

I wanted to use one of the cute digital cards from the The Story Printables, but chose to just print it out plain and add my journaling with my typewriter to make sure all my fonts in the spread were a perfect match.

I loved the sentiment “some of my favorite moments” but it was on a 4″ x 6″ tag and I didn’t have anymore space in my spread. I decided to just cut up the the 4″ x 6″ tag and create my own 3″ x 4″ card. To add a little more interest I chose to pop up the sentiment on a white piece of card stock.

No spread is complete without the date and there is no better stamp than the Dated Stamp! I added a yellow, puffy arrow from the So Awesome Puffy Stickers between the dates for a little pop of color and to tie in more colors across the spread.

Such a fun week! I love that I can always count on the Elle’s Studio kits to bring lots of color and fun to my spreads and they are always a perfect match for my boy photos! I hope this inspired you and gave you a few ideas on how you can use the August Kit to document your family’s stories this month.
