Acrylic paint is a staple in any crafter’s arsenal. It’s inexpensive, and easy to find at almost any art supply or craft store. Not only is it easy to work with- no fancy tools needed- it also comes in a rainbow of colors! Today, Jen Chapin is with us to teach us how to put our acrylic paint to work on our next layout. Let’s see what she created!
Hi everyone! Jen Chapin here, and I am so excited to be back on the Elle’s Studio design team for 2017. I look forward to creating lots of fun projects this year! Today I have a new layout to share using the January 2017 Exclusive Kit and add-ons, as well as a fun technique that will bring color to your background.
Supplies | January 2017 Exclusive Kit, January 2017 Digital Cut File, True Love Wood Veneer, XO Stickers, Everyday Labels Puffy Stickers- Pink, Everyday Labels Puffy Stickers- Teal
Today I’m sharing a layout and process video with you that was inspired by my love of color and acrylic paint. You can take a look at how the layout came together here in my video:
Although the background takes a little time to dry, the technique is simple. Simply place a dot of acrylic paint on your background cardstock, and scrape it down the page with a craft spatula. If you don’t have one of these, you could even use an old gift card. After it dries, you can layer a die cut, like I did here with the heart background from the January 2017 Digital Cut File, or some patterned paper on top.
I chose to use vellum on this layout to allow the color to show through and give a place for my photo and title to rest. By color coordinating the embellishments I used, I was able to reinforce the rainbow theme.
The True Love Wood Veneer, an extra in the shop this month, is the perfect size for a title! I just love premade titles- they take that extra step out of my scrapbooking process and add a great design element.
Thanks so much for stopping by the blog! If you try this technique we’d love to see your project! Tag us on Instagram with #ellesstudio or post a link to your creation in the comments of this post. Have a great week!
