Hello Lake Life with Marsha Farris

Hey, Elle’s Studio friends!  It’s Marsha here with you today, and I’m sharing a pocket page spread in my 6″ x 8″ album. The amazing August 2020 Kit and add-ons were perfect for this layout documenting some of my favorite family lake photos!

When I began this spread, I knew I wanted to highlight the So Cool Puffy Stickers and journaling tags from the August 2020 Kit. I also wanted to use shades of blue, gray, and black from this month’s kit and add-ons: perfect for my lake photos.

Supplies | August 2020 Kit, A New Day StickersChipboard TagsSo Cool Puffy Stickers, Navy Dipped Puffy Alphabet Stickers, Wood Veneer Circles, Bright Polka Dot 6.5 x 8 Inch Paper Stack, Shine Brighter Stamp, Summer Fun Stamp, Mini Dated Extras Stamp, Large Jane Number Metal Die

For the first page of my spread, I printed a picture sized at 6″ x 8″ to fit the page protector. I added the So Cool Puffy Stickers and a tag from the Chipboard Tags to the area at the top of the photo.

I stamped the “this is a summer tradition” sentiment onto the tag with the Summer Fun Stamp and black ink. For some additional texture, I added baker’s twine to the tag, along with one of the Wood Veneer Circles.

On the other side of the spread, I chose to use a pocket page because I knew I wanted to add some journaling and include a couple of photos. I trimmed one of the tags from the August 2020 Kit in half to fit in the pocket and used the So Cool Puffy Stickers and Navy Dipped Puffy Alphabet Stickers to create the title card. I typed my journaling onto a piece of white cardstock and added a tag from this month’s kit for the other 3″ x 4″ pocket. To complete these pockets, I stamped the date and the word “documented” with the Mini Dated Extras Stamp.

For the final pocket, I chose another tag from the August Kit. I sized and printed my photos to fit and added some stamping with the Shine Brighter Stamp. To embellish, I die cut an ampersand using the Bright Polka Dot Paper Stack and the Large Jane Number Metal Die. To complete the page, I added a couple more of the Wood Veneer Circles

Thank you for stopping by today!  I hope I have inspired you to tell more of your summer stories using the August Kit and add-ons. We can’t wait to see what you create!

Sketch Day with Daniela!

Hi friends! Daniela here with a new sketch-based layout. I love using sketches because they give you an idea of what the layout could look like in the end. You can just follow this basic composition and creating becomes so easy. Let’s take a look at this week’s sketch:

I love the big stripe in the middle of the page, so I followed the sketch quite closely. Here is my full layout:

Supplies: August 2020 Kit, August Cut Files, List Stamp, So Cool Puffy Stickers, Acrylic Hearts, A New Day Stickers, Summer Fun 6 x 8.5 inch Paper Stack, Go See Do Acetate Die Cuts, Magical Memories Acetate Die Cuts, Mini Dated Extras Stamp

I only used three colors on my page: blue, red and gray. I love the fact that there is a new cut files each month, so I used the monthly files to cut my own tag which I used instead of the journaling tag that is featured in the sketch. Of course, I also used some embellishments on top of it. The Acrylic Hearts are so pretty and add a special touch to every project, so I used one of those in combination with some acetate die cuts and the So Cool Puffy Stickers. I love combining different textures and Elle’s Studio offers all the embellishments I need!

Another cluster is built next to and on top of the picture. All the single elements are overlapping here and there. This adds dimension and there’s much to discover.

The sketch shows paper boarders and also different papers behind the picture. I copied these elements on my page and ripped the paper edges here and there which also adds dimension and creates a kind of messy style. Some color splashes and the baker’s twine I used for the tag also add to this style.

I hope you like my take on the sketch! Thanks so much for stopping by today and don’t forget to share what you create using the hashtag #EllesStudio on Instagram, or by posting in our Elle’s Studio Facebook Group!

Creating a Custom List with Katarina Prevendarova

Hello Elle’s Studio, friends! It’s Katarina here today, this time with a little traveler’s notebook inspiration using the oh-so-amazing August Kit and add-ons!

Supplies | August 2020 Kit, Chipboard Tags, So Cool Puffy Stickers, Summer Fun 6 x 8.5 inch Paper Stack, List Stamp, Shine Brighter Stamp

This month’s products offer so many possibilities to document all the summer memories in such a beautiful way. I was inspired by the List Stamp to put together a TN spread with a list of my son’s current favorite activities. I always enjoy looking back at these pages to remind myself all the little details of each part of his life.

I found a fun photo of my son playing in the garden, his hands and legs all covered in mud. I backed it with two papers from the gorgeous Summer Fun paper stack. One of my many favorite products this month are the So Cool Puffy Stickers. I used them to create my title and added a couple of colorful dots to make the spread a little bit playful.

For the left side I used white cardstock as my background and stamped the list to the bottom part of the page. I love that the List stamp also has a little dot stamp which can be used to color the items of your list. To repeat the colorful dots from the right side, I used three colors of inks to fill in the little circles.

I stamped the “currently obsessed with” from the Shine Brighter Stamp on a piece of the teal paper used also on the other side of my spread and fussy cut it. Then I continued with tone on tone stamping of “Top 10”. Those gorgeous little arrows can be found in August Kit.

I am in love with the Chipboard Tags and had to use one of them as my last embellishment. Elle’s chipboard stickers are always the best quality, when I use them in my traveler’s notebook inserts I usually peel off some of the back layers to make them more flat. I used the Shine Brighter Stamp to stamp “Cool” on a blue tag and added a puffy star from the So Cool Puffy Stickers.

That’s it from me today, friends. I hope I inspired you to open your traveler’s notebooks and create something nice using the gorgeous August Kit and add-ons. Thank you for stopping by!

Teach Me Tuesday: Enlarging ES Printables with Jess Forster

Happy August, friends! It’s Jess Forster with you today. It’s summer here in Toronto, and my son, Sam, just celebrated his fifth birthday. Yikes! Since time seems to moving way too quickly, I was inspired to tell a longer story about him:

Supplies | Priorities Printables, August LabelsChipboard Tags, Navy Dipped Puffy Alphabet Stickers, Puffy Star Stickers

Inspired by the phrase “real life + right now” which is a part of the Chipboard Tags, I enlarged the blue star 3″ x 4″ Priorities Printables journaling tags to house all of my words. Curious on how I created this hybrid layout? Read on and watch this video:

[insert video here]

In this 6″ x 8″ double page layout, I documented five of Sam’s favourite things. Loving the 3″ x 4″ blue journaling tag from the Priorities Printables, I decided to use my computer to enlarge it to 6″ x 8″. For this tutorial, I am working on a Mac Book Pro and Photoshop Elements 15. You do not need these specific items to follow along as these directions will work on most laptops with most versions of PSE.

In Photoshop Elements, select the move tool (V/ arrow tool) on the left tool bar.  Highlight the top tool bar & complete the following:  file > open >  navigate to where the blue ES printable card was located > double click open.

From there, I selected the crop tool (c) on the left tool bar. Making sure that the “tool options” folder was highlighted on the bottom, I dragged the crop tool over the journaling card. Under the tool options, complete the following: Custom > W = 6 in > H = 8 in > Resolution: 300 pixels/inch > Double click green arrow to commit change.

Last, I selecting the Horizontal Type Tool (T) making sure that in “tool options: folder was highlight at the bottom, I dragged the type tool over the journaling card, leaving space for me to place the “real life + right now” sticker on top as well as place the Navy Dipped Puffy Alphabet Sticker numbers 1 to 5, on the side. Under the tool options make sure the following are inputed: Remington Noiseless font > size = 11 pt > leading > 11 pt. Draw the type box and write your journaling > Double click green arrow to commit change.

After printing out the 6″ x 8″ journaling tag and enlarged photo, I embellished with more phrases from the Chipboard Tags, black Puffy Star Stickers and added added the title, “Sam at Five.” Super simple, but effective,  this simple hybrid layout is complete!

Next time you are playing with Elle’s Studio printables, challenge yourself to use your computer to document a longer story. Write “in the moment” details to capture you life currently and small details you want to remember. Happy summer and thanks for looking!

Scrapbooking and Sunflowers with Kristina Proffitt

Hi friends! It’s Kristina here, and today I’m sharing with you a simple pocket page spread to inspire you to pull out those photos and your August 2020 monthly kit and extras even if you have a smaller story to tell. I don’t know about you, but one thing I love to do to is switch up the sizes of page protectors that I use in my larger 12″ x 12″ album every now and then. I love the different sizes that fill my albums and I tend to do it here and there throughout the year. I find that it’s such a great way to spotlight certain stories or photographs, plus I really like working with a smaller page spread every now and then.

Supplies | August 2020 Kit, August LabelsA New Day StickersSo Cool Puffy Stickers

This page spread is all about the sunflowers that I planted this summer. I wanted to include a few different photographs of the flowers in different stages of growth and I found this way of documenting it was so much fun! I love including large photos in my spreads, so this 6″ x 8″ photo on the left was perfect to showcase the current state of my sunflowers. I do plan to create another spread, probably utilizing the back of the second page, to share photos of the sunflowers once they bloom, too.

I love the A New Day Stickers and thought the “loving this right now” was perfect to adhere at the bottom of the photograph in the white space. I AM totally loving this right now! I love using the white space in my photographs for embellishments, especially if I know that I want to include a larger version of the photograph in my scrapbook. I also used one of the August Labels to stamp the date on, too. I just love those coordinating labels.

This super cute 4″ x 6″ journaling tag was perfect to include two smaller photographs of my sunflowers. Instead of writing a note, I used a couple of the August 2020 Kit die cuts to share how I was feeling and attached them to the tag with my tiny attacher. This is a good reminder that even though it looks like you should write something in a certain spot, die cuts or stickers are also great to use instead. You make the rules! Next, I stamped the date under each photograph and added the “enjoy” sticker from the So Cool Puffy Stickers..

I love printing my journaling out onto the 3″ x 4″ tags from the monthly kit and I was so happy to devote a little spot to how I was finally planting some sunflowers, which is something I’ve wanted to do for a bit.

I loved the pop of yellow from the August 2020 Kit label that I used here. I placed it on the photo and cut off the excess that hung over the edge. I always love that look. Then, I stamped the date and added another puffy sticker from the So Cool Puffy Stickers right above it. Those labels are so versatile and I love how there are always so many of them, in different sizes, in the kit each month.

And there ya go! I’m so thankful for some peacefulness from these sunflowers despite all of the chaos going on in the world right now and also super thankful that I took the time to document what is bringing me some joy! I highly encourage you to do the same. Sunflowers and scrapbooking are the best!

Back-to-School layout with Suzanna Lee

Hiya scrappy peeps! Suzanna here today! Soon we will be celebrating Back to School and how different that is going to look. Are your children learning virtually from home and do they think it’s “So Cool”, like this month’s puffy stickers? Or, are they on campus with masks? Either way, I think you will find that the August kit and add-on’s, especially those puffy stickers, will be great for documenting that first day, be it virtual or in person.

Supplies | August 2020 Kit, Priorities Printables, A New Day Stickers, Composition Stickers, Chipboard Tags, So Cool Puffy Stickers, Navy Puffy Alphabet Stickers, List Stamp, Shine Brighter Stamp, Winifred Alphabet Stamp

Almost all of the words/phrases found on the So Cool puffy sticker sheet were used on this virtual school layout. A little bit of creative shuffling had to occur for my title; borrowing the H from Hello and mixing that with So Cool to come up with School. I was still able to use the H-less hello for the title by stamping an H. Navy puffy alpha stickers afforded me the ability to make the “virtual”, distinguishing, part of the title stand out.

As with every month, there are lots of basics to be found amongst the phrases of the “So Cool” stickers and they were great support embellishments to my layout. Here I use a circular phrase, grey word phrase and the single “dots”. I love dimension on my creations and the Elle’s Studio puffy stickers always provide just the right about of “lift” on a page and always stick nicely.

There is lots of stamping on this layout too. Not a lot of stamps used but the two I did use here were the List Stamp and Shine Brighter. They added to the school feel of the page, along with the composition pocket card from the kit and the composition stickers.

Whatever your children or grandchildren may be doing, I hope their return to school is safe and full of valuable lessons. And may you be “So Cool” documenting that unique first day back with your “So Cool” puffy stickers and other amazing Elle’s Studio goodies!

I do have a process video that will be up on my YouTube channel should you want to watch how everything came together.

Thanks for stopping in today!

August in pockets with Amy Jo Vanden Brink

Hello Elle’s Studio friends! I’m so excited to share my August project with you today. This kit has been so great for getting my summer stories into my albums, and the colours are perfect for my outdoors photos.

Supplies | August 2020 Kit, A New Day Stickers, Chipboard Tags, So Cool Puffy Stickers, Acrylic Hearts

I love to repeat elements across my pages, and the big grey “today” tag from the kit die cuts, along with the chipboard “summer” tag also helped tie in the photos. I try to make sure that I use a colour more than once, and thus the yellow, purple and blue were able to make the page work together.

The New Day stickers are such a great way to get sentiments onto photos, and the “currently” card from the kit was such a great way to jot down some small pieces of life. Everyday spreads like this always end up being my favourite!

Thanks for checking out my project today! I hope that I was able to inspire you to document with some of the great bright colours in this kit!
