Scrapbooking and Sunflowers with Kristina Proffitt

Hi friends! It’s Kristina here, and today I’m sharing with you a simple pocket page spread to inspire you to pull out those photos and your August 2020 monthly kit and extras even if you have a smaller story to tell. I don’t know about you, but one thing I love to do to is switch up the sizes of page protectors that I use in my larger 12″ x 12″ album every now and then. I love the different sizes that fill my albums and I tend to do it here and there throughout the year. I find that it’s such a great way to spotlight certain stories or photographs, plus I really like working with a smaller page spread every now and then.

This page spread is all about the sunflowers that I planted this summer. I wanted to include a few different photographs of the flowers in different stages of growth and I found this way of documenting it was so much fun! I love including large photos in my spreads, so this 6″ x 8″ photo on the left was perfect to showcase the current state of my sunflowers. I do plan to create another spread, probably utilizing the back of the second page, to share photos of the sunflowers once they bloom, too.

I love the A New Day Stickers and thought the “loving this right now” was perfect to adhere at the bottom of the photograph in the white space. I AM totally loving this right now! I love using the white space in my photographs for embellishments, especially if I know that I want to include a larger version of the photograph in my scrapbook. I also used one of the August Labels to stamp the date on, too. I just love those coordinating labels.

This super cute 4″ x 6″ journaling tag was perfect to include two smaller photographs of my sunflowers. Instead of writing a note, I used a couple of the August 2020 Kit die cuts to share how I was feeling and attached them to the tag with my tiny attacher. This is a good reminder that even though it looks like you should write something in a certain spot, die cuts or stickers are also great to use instead. You make the rules! Next, I stamped the date under each photograph and added the “enjoy” sticker from the So Cool Puffy Stickers..

I love printing my journaling out onto the 3″ x 4″ tags from the monthly kit and I was so happy to devote a little spot to how I was finally planting some sunflowers, which is something I’ve wanted to do for a bit.

I loved the pop of yellow from the August 2020 Kit label that I used here. I placed it on the photo and cut off the excess that hung over the edge. I always love that look. Then, I stamped the date and added another puffy sticker from the So Cool Puffy Stickers right above it. Those labels are so versatile and I love how there are always so many of them, in different sizes, in the kit each month.

And there ya go! I’m so thankful for some peacefulness from these sunflowers despite all of the chaos going on in the world right now and also super thankful that I took the time to document what is bringing me some joy! I highly encourage you to do the same. Sunflowers and scrapbooking are the best!
