January Scraps in Action with Nicole Kerr

Hello crafty friends! It’s Nicole here, and today I’m exploring one of the many ways to use up those January scraps! Many times when I near the end of a kit, I find that I’m left over with a little bit of everything. In my Elle’s Studio January 2021 kit and add-ons, I had a few journaling tags and die cuts, several labels and of course, scraps of patterned paper. Instead of saving or stashing these away, I decided that I was going to put these to use now while I still love them and haven’t forgotten about them! My project today is my first entry in my Storyline Chapters notebook titled, “Me, Myself, and I.”

In this notebook, I hope to make a double page spread every month in 2021 that focuses on ME: what I’m watching, reading, listening to, goals that I may have for myself, random thoughts, inspirational quotes, and so much more. I’m trying to make a more conscious effort this year to prioritize myself in the grand scheme of busy day-to-day life. There were tags in the January kit that were PERFECT for this type of project and I’m excited to share a couple of ways to use those tags and scraps, and document yourself in this new year!

Don’t be afraid to make a product work for you! In the above photo, I journaled about my Kindle. It’s been a very long time since I’ve picked my Kindle up to read and this month, I found an excellent book that I have really been enjoying. There was a tag left over in the January 2021 Kit that had the banner “this is one of my favorite stories” and it fit my story perfectly! Because I already had a tag and journaling written, which was perfect for this story as well, I fussy cut the banner from the tag and used it as a die cut for my existing tag! Now I’m able to use both!

Labels make for great lists! On the right side of my spread, I fussy cut another tag to use “trying my best to” as a prompt for this list. For each item on my list, I used one of the January Labels to journal on. It adds the perfect amount of journaling space and color, and I even used the Hugs and Kisses Stamp to add an extra bit of embellishing in the spaces between the labels. 

Grab your add-ons for this step! Alpha stickers, stamps and dies can fill in gaps and make your last little bits of products stretch that extra mile. In the photo above, I used the Pocket, Frame, and Flip Up Metal Die to create a flip pocket to document a special date night with my husband. It also allowed me to use two more 3″ x 4″ tags from the January Kit and a few embellishments! Also in this photo, you can see that I created another bullet list of “5 Ways I can Love Myself More.” I used Print and Cut Labels for the title, white Jane Title Alphabet Cardstock Stickers for a pop of text, and a heart from the Hugs and Kisses Stamp stamped in red to mark my bullet list.

Next time you find yourself with scraps, don’t stash them away! Pull out your scissors, stamps and dies to create additional embellishments. Don’t forget, there’s no right or wrong way to use your product. Make your product work for you!

January #EllesStudio Spottings on Instagram

On the right, we spy our My Heart Stamp and Metal Die used on this sweet layout by Lauren (@mrs_seneca). Such beautiful layouts!

We love her fun column of embellishment with that striking photo! Hugs and Kisses Week: A Lovey-Dovey TN Spread with Aimee Mertell

Hi, it’s Aimee here and I’m so excited to be sharing this travelers notebook spread for the final day of Hugs & Kisses week—a week of love filled projects! For this traveler’s notebook layout, I wanted to focus on all of the pink in the January 2021 Kit and really make it feel romantic by pairing it with neutrals like grey and black.

It is seldom that my husband agrees to take photos, as he is somewhat camera shy, so when I coaxed him into taking this one I knew I had to document it in the most lovey-dovey way possible — it is February after all! I decided that the Love You Wood Veneer would be the perfect title for this spread, adding just the right amount of boldness. 

I selected a number of papers from the XOXO Paper Stack that kept to my color scheme and trimmed them into 2” x 2” squares to fill my pockets—then it was time to start embellishing! I chose pieces from the All My Heart Wood Veneers to tie in the wood tones from the other side of the spread as well as focus on black embellishments from the True Love Stickers and the Love You Chipboard Stickers. 

With those same pink patterned papers and the My Heart Metal Die, I was able to cut some precious hearts to nestle in next to the photo of me and my honey. I finished off with a some more sentiments and labels and of course a sprinkling of Puffy Heart Stickers. 

I hope this layout inspires you to create a love filled project today—whatever love looks like to you!

Hugs and Kisses Week: The Moments In Between with Patricia Roebuck

Hello Elle’s Studio friends and welcome to day four of Hugs and Kisses week! Today I will be walking you through a loved-filled pocket page using the January 2021 kit and add-ons.

2020 lead me to two new part time jobs, after being home with my daughter for several years. My inspiration for this loved-filled pocket page spread is our relationship and specifically the ‘moments in between.’ Her schedule alone is busy enough, then adding mine makes us struggle to find quality time together. I knew right away that I wanted a bold title on the 4″ x 6″ pocket using the Navy Acetate Alphabet over the 4″ x 6″ January Kit tag, along with a kit die cut and the Dark Pink Puffy Alphabet Stickers.

These photos of us are a result of us having a chat at the table, my favorite time with her. I had to have her help me find the spotlight feature on my phone to make the background black, but after I took them, and saw her sweet face, I knew these photos were perfect to describe us right now. I used the Monthly & Daily Tabs Stamp, a freebie for kit subscribers in January, with a January Kit label die cut for the date, and then used the Stitched Hearts Wood Veneer over the blue heart 3″ x 4″ kit tag next to it.

For the next January Kit tag, I used the “Love You!” All My Heart Wood Veneer placed in the center, then stamped small blue hearts down the center. Before adhering the veneer, I added my typed journaling to show the daily routines we have to find the moments in between.

The pink tag to the right was left as is for balance of the large title and a place for the eye to rest.     

For added texture and layers, I used the Pocket, Frame, and Flip Up Metal Die and a January Kit die cut for more stamping and a place for added journaling.  I finished that outside pocket with a dark blue Chipboard Label Sticker for the sentiment and to balance the Navy Acetate Alphabet on the left.  I ended this spread with a ‘silly’ photo we took using the same spotlight feature.

We are definitely in a new season of living as mother and daughter and these pictures depict it perfectly. We are working through these crazy times as well as our busy schedules that we, thankfully, do have. I hope this project inspires you to look for the moments in between with the relationships in your life. Grab the January 2021 Kit and all the wonderful heart items to document it!

Hugs and Kisses Week: A Terrific Treat Bowl with Jody Compton

Hello Elle’s Studio Friends! It is Jody with you today, reminding you that Valentine’s Day is just around the corner! I love creating special projects to gift I used the Elle’s Studio January Kit and add-ons to make a paper bowl full of sweet treats for my sweeties!

I found this simple Valentine Layered Hearts Treat Bowl cut file and knew all of the Elle’s Studio January Kit and add-ons would be perfect to embellish this for my two sweet boys. I bought all their favorite sweet treats, mostly chocolate! I let my Silhouette Cameo cut out the bowl base using textured white cardstock, then I used three patterns from the XOXO Paper Stack to create layered hearts on each side.  

The Chipboard Label Stickers were the perfect place to add my son’s name using the Dark Pink Puffy Alphabet Stickers, which are so cute! I added an Acetate Heart and an acrylic heart to finish one side.

I used the same patterned papers from the XOXO Paper Stack to continue with the layered hearts. The Chipboard Label Stickers again made the perfect layer to add my youngest’s name to his side of the bowl.

On the fourth side, I grabbed a pretty pink circle tab to go underneath the I HEART YOU sticker from the True Love Stickers. Another dash of Acetate Hearts and acrylic hearts finished off the treat bowl. I know my guys are going to love this on Valentine’s Day.

Hugs and Kisses Week: Sending Love with Nathalie Leonelli

For my first card, I created layers with papers from the XOXO Paper Stack, a pink tag and die-cuts from the January Kit as well as Acetate Hearts and wood veneer hearts from the All My Heart Wood Veneers.

I stamped the sentiment from the Hugs and Kisses Stamp in black ink for contrast and pulled out my Labels Metal Die to find a perfect match to cut it. Conveniently, the small “Hello” stamp on the tab die-cut is also from this new stamp set.

For the second card, I pulled several patterned papers from the must-have XOXO 6 x 8.5 Inch Paper Stack, created a window with the scalloped Layered Card Metal Die and backed it with a darker paper to frame a mini envelope.

I used Puffy Heart Stickers, January Kit die-cuts and the Hugs and Kisses Stamp to create a spill of hearts in different colors and sizes. A simple sticker from the True Love Stickers finishes it off with the perfect sentiment. Bonus: While not lacking in dimension, both of these cards are flat enough to avoid extra postage fees!

Hugs and Kisses Week: Documenting the Ones We Love with Sarah Lee

We are so excited to kick off a week of love-filled inspiration here on our blog for Hugs and Kisses Week! For the next 5 days, we’ll be treating you (minus the calories!) to varied and beautiful projects from our design team. Whether you’re a scrapbooker, card maker or love pocket pages, you’ll find something here this week to help you get creative! Let’s start off this week of all things ‘XOXO’ with Sarah Kee, and a gorgeous layout!

Hello all Elle’s Studio friends! It’s Sarah with you today! Can you believe that we are in February already?! Wow! Where does the time go? Anyway, I’m super excited to be kicking off Hugs & Kisses week on the blog.

Today, let’s talk about layouts that focus on places, people, or things that you LOVE—it is Hugs & Kisses week after all! So I’m excited to share one of my latest layouts showcasing a layout about the people that I love the most! I obviously picked my family! 

Supplies | January 2021 Kit, True Love Stickers, Acetate Hearts, All My Heart Wood Veneers, XOXO 6 x 8.5 Inch Paper Stack, Hugs and Kisses Stamp

I wanted to incorporate hearts all over my layout, so I did just that using the Hugs and Kisses Stamp. I stamped a handful of hearts on coordinating patterned paper, and then I fussy cut them out. I decided that I wanted to add pops of color, so I painted some watercolor directly to my white cardstock.

I added the stamped hearts on top of all the pops of color. I love how something as simple as stamps and stickers can create a beautiful repetitive pattern on your background.


I wanted to further embellish the hearts, so I used some of the January Kit die cuts, All My Heart Wood Veneers, Acetate Hearts, and coordinating stickers.

I really loved the “This Is Love” 4″ x 6″ tag and the “Favorite Photograph” 3″ x 4″ tag from the January Kit, so I used them to help frame my photo.
