A Wonderful YOU Layout with Amanda Baldwin

Hi, Elle’s Studio friends! It’s Amanda here, and today I’m shining the product spotlight on the gorgeous new Sincere Sentiments: Wonderful You collection, for scrapbooking! Yes, you read correctly! I am absolutely loving this new collection designed specifically for card makers but you know me, I can’t resist demonstrating how versatile the Elle’s Studio products are!

Oh how sweet and fun! Sincere Sentiments: Wonderful You is definitely a scrapbook must-have! Apart from the addition of the Autumn Die Cuts, my page was crafted entirely from the Wonderful You collection! Here are a few of the key elements and techniques that I used to create this page:

Solid Paper Perfection!

Solid papers can seem a little plain if you’re an avid patterned paper fan, but when used to highlight and draw attention they can be really effective! Try layering different colors together, and using strong geometric shapes to make them pop. I layered two of the Cool Solids Paper Stack blue papers together with a 1/4 inch trim, and cut the papers into rectangles and triangles.

I also directed the solid paper triangles into my photo cluster for added impact. Simple, but so effective!

Mix Up the Title!

With such an awesome array of sentiments, phrases and titles in the Sincere Sentiments Wonderful You collection, mixing the title font, color and material is a great way to create interest on memory keeping pages! You’ll spy that I stamped and die cut the large outline ‘YOU’  onto some cork for my title. This not only added interest to my title, but also some much needed warmth to my overall design. With warmth needed, I completed my title with the “shine so bright” Sincere Sentiments Wonderful You Chipboard Banner. 

Get Inky With Journaling & Sub-Titles! 

The Sincere Sentiments Wonderful You Stamp has so many phrase combinations and heartfelt sentiment options! Stamping not only fills white space, it also adds a pop of color and detail to the background cardstock. I repeat stamped a few of the “YOU” stamps with a mix of story-appropriate sentiments to make my journaling a feature of the layout, rather than a block of text. Such a cool idea! 

Stick To It! 

When it comes to embellishing, nothing beats a good sticker (or 20!) Stickers add color, detail, interest and even more storytelling to the page. I mixed the Sincere Sentiments Wonderful You Chipboard Banners, Acetate Stickers, and Gold Puffy Heart Stickers for my sweet layout. To ensure attention was directed into my photos, I only adhered stickers around my photo cluster. Again, a really simple idea to maximizing the Sincere Sentiments Wonderful You collection for scrapbooking!

Repetition & Color Are Everything! 

Repetition in design creates a cohesive and seamless look. Use similar shapes, embellishments, patterns and colors to connect your page. You’ll notice that I repeated hearts and florals within my color scheme. I know, I’ve mentioned this tip many times before, but nothing looks more classy than a beautiful color scheme! Choose colors that compliment your photo or story mood, and that play off of each other well. The Solid Colors Paper Packs, which come in warm and cool hues are loaded with beautiful colors to inspire you!

Oh, Hey Adventure! with Meg Gundlach

Oh, hey! It’s Meg here, back today to share another travel spread that combines the new besties of the Elle’s Studio world—the October monthly release and the Sincere Sentiments line. Though I focused on the October 2021 kit and add-ons for this page, the variety of the Sincere Sentiments products makes them an absolute treasure for any crafter who loves ES supplies (and don’t we all?!)

Sometimes I see products and instantly know which page I want to make. Sometimes I go looking for pages just to use a certain product. Between the Warm Solids Paper Stack and Cool Solids Paper Stack, the entire glorious Elle’s Studio palette was available to choose from and I wanted to play. With so many options, I went hyper-focused and decided to build the entire spread around one thing that particularly caught my eye: the ‘Oh, Hey’ in the Sincere Sentiments Wonderful You Stamp.

I frequently use ‘Hello + City Name’ for title tags in my travel pages and I thought that the large ‘Oh, Hey’ could be a fun alternative. I grabbed my very neglected album from a 2014 family road trip and started flipping. When I saw that this spread actually had a post-it on it reading ‘Hello Edinburgh’, I knew I found my page.

I had way too much fun making my title tag and there is a lot to unpack here so bear with me. For the base, I chose the dark teal from the Cool Solids Paper Stack just because it was my favorite color (thus the perfectly coordinating scarf). I arranged the ‘Oh, Hey’ stamp over ‘EDI’ in the new Large Tile Alphabet Stamp—EDI is the airport code for Edinburgh—and snuck in an exclamation point from the Sincere Sentiments Wonderful You Stamp to balance the space. To make the background, I chose an ink a couple of shades darker than my paper (Memento Teal Zeal) and stamped in multiple directions. Though a lot of it is covered up, the addition of ‘Oh, Hey Edinburgh’ as the main title makes the background understandable enough.

I used the same paper and ‘EDI’ Large Tile Alphabet Stamp on the opposite side of the spread. Though I could have replicated my title tag, I knew my memorabilia would cover nearly all of the paper, so instead I made a pocket with the Pocket, Frame, and Flip Up Metal Die. This allowed me to pull over some of the same products and techniques as my title tag, but adapt them to the parts of my story I wanted to incorporate.

Being an older album, you never know quite what you are going to get in terms of photo quality/printing and it was exciting to find this 4×12 inch panoramic cityscape…thanks past me(g)! Though the Sincere Sentiments Wonderful You release was designed with cardmaking in mind, there are still plenty of elements that I could use to support my page and the Wonderful You Acetate Stickers are super fun to stick right onto photos.

This spread is full of fun product combinations, but I think my favorite may be the smallest and most subtle—layering the Gold Puffy Heart and Star Stickers over the Autumn Heart and Star Acetate Stickers looks a bit like stained glass! As well as allowing me to balance colors and use more of the products I love, the stained glass vibe totally works with the old-world aesthetic of Edinburgh.

Hopefully this gave you some ideas on the versatility of the Sincere Sentiments release and how well it coordinates with the OOctober 2021 kit and add-ons. It’s the perfect range of neutrals to support all of Elle’s products and a valuable branch of the ES family! Sketch Day with Kim Chaffin

Hi, scrapbooking friends! It’s Kim, and I’m happy to be here with you on sketch day! I love to use Elle’s Studio sketches for ease in designing a layout. It was a piece of cake using the October 2021 monthly kit and add-ons with this sketch. Today I’m sharing a layout that documents Halloween costume fun with my husband. Let’s take a look at the sketch!

This sketch has space for photographs, journaling, embellishments, and a title. The options are limitless, because a sketch can be altered in whatever way is needed. Let’s take a look at my take:

I love the impact of a large photo as my background, and I chose a favorite one that has room on which to layer other elements. I typed my journaling directly onto the photograph. 

The index tabs are a really fun element of this sketch! I chose to staple two from the October Kit to the edges of my smaller photos. I stamped the date on one, but I left the other one blank for the moment. Ultimately, I decided on a leaf sticker from the Home Sweet Home Cardstock Stickers for this spot.

I created my title using the “tradition” tag from the Cozy Printables. I added the words “our costume” to the top of the tag, and I adhered a phrase strip cut from one of the October Kit pocket tags to complete my title, placing the extra photos to the left of the journaling. I adhered both with pop dots to help them stand out a bit from the very similar background photo. The only thing remaining was to embellish a bit, and I chose two leaves from the Home Sweet Home Cardstock Stickers. Just like that, it’s done!

A Wonderfully Witchy Traveler’s Notebook with Aimee Mertell

Hello again, Elle’s Studio friends! It’s Aimee here today sharing this wonderfully witchy travelers notebook layout! I will be combining products from the September add-ons with the current October release—so let’s go ahead and take a look and I’ll get into the details.

I recently took my daughter to pick out her Halloween costume and she insisted on getting this rainbow witches costume, complete with a hat and stockings. She just couldn’t wait to put it on, so of course we did a little fashion show when we got home. She sure does make a wonderful witch—which brings me to my title for this page!

I picked out the word, “wonderful” from the Sincere Sentiments Wonderful You Acetate Stickers and paired it with the Large Star Jane Alphabet Stamp that released as part of the Document December add-ons. I find that the Star Jane Alpha is perfectly fitting for Halloween as well as Christmas!

I adhered my photo down rather askew just for a bit of fun and framed it out with a banner and leaves from the Autumn Die Cuts. I selected fitting phrases from the Halloween Cardstock Stickers that mentioned costumes and even added a festive border to the bottom of the page. 

I picked out coordinating orange journaling tags from the October 2021 Kit and wrote a bit about our tradition of picking costumes and how exciting it truly is for all of us—you never know what they’re going to pick! The black star paper from the Thankful Paper Stack made the perfect mat for my second photo, which I layered over another journaling tag from the October Kit. 

I embellished a bit more with the Autumn Heart and Star Acetate Stickers and called this layout complete. Mixing your monthly kits and products doesn’t have to be complicated— many of Elle’s Studio kits coordinate beautifully no matter the season, and I for one have a ton of fun mixing and matching. The Best Day with Jen McMurtrey

Hi friends! It’s Jen today with pocket page inspiration using the October 2021 kit and add-ons, along with several items from my Elle’s Studio stash. This month has so many new additions to the Elle’s Studio product family that I am very excited about. Whether you make cards or scrapbook, there is something for everyone!

For this project, I wanted to document my son’s recent wedding where they enjoyed a simple civil service with plans of a church ceremony and large reception at a later date. Of course, I took a ton of pictures that day, but chose just a few of my favorites to feature here.

When using a smaller format such as this, I enjoy creating elements aside from just a photo and journaling. I’ve been holding onto the white Large Acetate Numbers for far too long and decided to use them to document the date of the ceremony. Using clear acetate as the base, I stitched the numbers and two acetate stars down the center of the page. To make it easier to lift, I stamped a tab and sentiment with the Autumn Tab Stamp and cut it out using the Everyday Tabs Metal Die.

In order to use all of the photos I selected, I used the Pocket, Frame, and Flip Up Metal Die with a 4×6 inch journaling tag to create a small pocket. Using a smaller piece of paper here worked well because I had already planned to die cut the tabbed edge along the bottom. To finish the pocket, I stamped the family sentiment using the Title Builder Vol. 3 Stamp.

Next, I die cut the front photo using the Nesting Tags Metal Die, which is where I hid the journaling. After cutting another tag of the same size on folded white paper, I adhered the photo to the top and hid my journaling inside.

Behind the tag, I added three more photos with an October Label attached to each. Again, creating the pocket made it convenient to house more pictures that can be taken out, looked at, and replaced with ease.

Below the pocket of photos, I used another piece of clear acetate with the Pocket, Frame, and Flip Up Metal Die to create an interactive element. I used the Cool and Warm Solids Paper Stacks and stamped each of the “You” sentiments from the Sincere Sentiments Wonderful You Stamp and cut them out with the coordinating Metal Die. I love how they looked layered together on the acetate.

Next, I added a small photo to white cardstock that has several stamped elements from the Sincere Sentiments Wonderful You Stamp. The effect is striking when viewed from beneath the acetate.

Last is an enlarged photo of the bride and groom at the end of the ceremony. Using the same cardstock and Sincere Sentiments Wonderful You Stamp as before, I cut three of the outlined “you” and layered them atop one another. When gluing them together, I did so at an angle so the different colors look like shadowing beneath the white cardstock. Beneath the large word, I stamped again with the Sincere Sentiments Wonderful You Stamp and cut it out using the Banners Metal Die. Lastly, I added the Sincere Sentiments Wonderful You Acetate Stickers around their heads to emphasize the kiss.

While small, this project carries quite a bit of “wow” factor, and I am super pleased with the way it turned out. Fall Favorites with Michelle Flynn

Happy fall, friends!  I’m so happy to be back on the blog today using the three incredibly fun and new Tile Alphabet Stamps! I had the best time documenting some of my favorite fall moments using the new Large Tile Alphabet Stamp, the Medium Tile Alphabet Stamp and the Small Tile Alphabet Stamp! I didn’t stop there either, I also used the new Autumn Tab stamp and the Home Sewn Stitches Stamp! Here is my my completed layout:

I wanted to make a collage documenting some of my favorite little fall moments. I just love the design of these stamps so much and they inspired me to size my photos in a way that they would mirror the look of the stamps. I started with kraft cardstock as my base background and adhered white cardstock, stamping my title at the top: “My Fall Favorites” using the Large Tile Alphabet Stamp, the Medium Tile Alphabet Stamp and the Small Tile Alphabet Stamp. To add further dimension to the title, I took a separate sheet of cardstock and stamped out the letters “fall” with the Large Tile Alphabet Stamp. I cut them out individually and used dimensional adhesive to adhere them. I added those sweet leaves from the Home Sweet Home Cardstock Stickers in the corners of the title to bring in some color.

I cut down a piece of the burgundy red paper using the Thankful Paper Stack to create a middle base and then adhered another layer of the kraft cardstock over it for my second title “#these moments matter.” I stamped the title using the Medium Tile Alphabet Stamp and the Small Tile Alphabet Stamp. Seriously, how absolutely cute are these stamps!  And that hashtag is just the cutest! I decided to use brads on each corner for further emphasis on that middle title strip.

You know that saying, less is more?  Well, sometimes that’s true, but in this case I was having so much fun with these stamps I really just wanted more of them in my layout. As I finished my top and middle title and began positioning my photos, I was inspired by these stamps to go a bit further so I turned my photos into mini flips. That allowed me the space to play more with the stamps and add a few more fall photos and embellishments! I used the Medium Tile Alphabet Stamp to number each flip and the sweet Home Sewn Stitches Stamp to create lines so I could stamp my favorites using the Small Tile Alphabet Stamp. Last, but not least, I added some additional fall sentiments using the new Autumn Tab Stamp!

I backed the flips with the Thankful Paper Stack, and kept two of them free from a photo, embellishing the middle using the Autumn Die Cuts and Banner Stickers.

Seeing Signs of Autumn with Guest Designer Ali Skifton

Today we are excited to welcome October guest, Ali Skifton to the Elle’s Studio blog! Take a look at Ali’s Instagram feed and you’ll see why we asked her to guest! Her layouts are fun—full of color and texture, and the layout that she created for us today is just her style—with an autumn twist! Let’s take a look!

Happy fall, y’all! I am so excited to be joining you and Elle’s Studio this month as the October guest designer. My name is Ali, and I will be sharing with you an autumn layout that I created using a combination of the new October add-ons, along with some September ones too!

One of my favorite things about fall is the changing colors of leaves and these Autumn Die Cuts were perfect to go with the picture of a huge maple leaf I saw while shopping in Santa Barbara. They were also screaming at me to be stitched.  I spent a few hours stitching these leaves with beautiful color threads to match them. I took the die cut package to Michaels so I could match up the colors with the DMC threads they had in the store.

I pop dotted the leaves to add even more dimension to the page and make it seem like they were falling out of the sky onto the pavement. I added the fun Gold Tiny Shapes and Dots Puffy Stickers in between to fill in some empty spaces and love how they pick up the colors in the picture.  

There are so many cute 3 x 4 inch tags included in both the September and October kits. I figured the “Hello Autumn” tag was a good opening one and I couldn’t pass by those rainbow stripes. I mean, come on—it matches my rainbow-colored leaves falling on my page.  

I used the Thankful Paper Stack and cut half inch stipes for my background to ground my cards and picture. I then added the Home Sewn Stitches Acetate Stickers to each strip and love how it adds to the paper and ties in with the stitching on the leaves without the hard work.  

The title was so fun to use! I love this Autumn Fun Wood Veneer.  It is perfect for any fall page! I wanted to use the new tile stamps which come in three different sizes. How perfect you have those options! I used the Small Tile Alphabet Stamp to stamp the word “in” and then used the fun Moss Green Puffy Alphabet Stickers to finish off my title. If you are unsure of stamping on your layout, you can stamp on a separate piece of paper and cut out your letters. This is what I did and added foam behind the tiles to pop them off the page.

I love the leaves turning colors, apple picking, corn mazes, sweater weather, pumpkin picking and my favorite holiday, Halloween! 

I have been scrapbooking for over 20 years now and am very thankful to have this in my life.  I look forward to spending time in my craft room on the weekends after working all week as a full-time financial analyst. Our October reveal is here and we are excited to share all of the brand new and exclusive products that are now available in our shop today! Our October kit includes 3 – 4 x 6 inch tags, 18 – 3 x 4 inch tags, and 26 die cuts, that will work great on your scrapbooking layouts, pocket pages, traveler’s notebooks, cards, planners, and more! When designing our kits, we love to think of tags that can be used as prompts to help make it easier for you to get your story started and documented, and this kit is full of those and so much more!

We were so excited to introduce our newest collection to the shop earlier this week, Sincere Sentiments: Wonderful You! Create fun and beautiful cards in no time with these new products designed in collaboration with Meghann Andrew! Pair the stamps and stickers with your favorite patterned or solid paper and you’ll have a special card with a customized message for someone you want to celebrate, encourage or show how much you care!

The collection includes a 4 x 4 inch and 6 x 8 inch stamp that coordinate with each other, and also work well on their own. Both of these stamps also work with the metal die we have to help you cut out the “you” and “friend” in different fonts! In addition to the Wonderful You stamps and dies, we have acetate sentiment stickers, chipboard stickers (that include blank banners you can stamp on!), and puffy gold hearts and stars to accent anything you stamp! We have also added cool and warm solid cardstock that coordinates with the colors we use year-round, along with the current patterned paper stacks that we already have in the shop!
