Welcome to another week of Project Life at Elle’s Studio. I am thrilled to introduce to you our today’s Project Life Special Guest, Nicole Reaves.
Nicole lives in Michigan where she is a stay at home mom to Morgan and Parker. She has been married to her husband Mark for eight years and enjoys crafting, biking, and creating new goodies for her small Etsy shop.
Each and every week I look forward to visiting Nicole’s blog and seeing her Project Life pages. She creates such fresh, clean pages full of bits and pieces of life. I’ve notice that she always focuses on the stories that are important to her and her family. I find her work very authentic and inspirational, and I think you will too!
1. When and why did you start Project Life
I started Project Life at the beginning of 2012. After completing my son’s first year album last year, my actual scrapbook layouts were few and far between. Project Life seemed like the logical way to document our everyday lives in a fun and simple way.
2. What do you love about Project Life?
I love that it’s so customizable. Project Life can be whatever you want it to be. You can document a photo-a-day, a week at a glance, or a month in review. Make it work for YOU. For me, each 2- page spread is a week in review and I love that each layout is a fresh start, of sorts. New photos to focus on, new stories to tell, new products to use. Simple or embellished, I love the chance to change it up each time.
3. Any tips on keeping up or catching up in your album?
Planning out the week before I work on it has been a huge help with staying caught up, By knowing how I’m going to fill each pocket, or if I’m going to need an insert that week for extra stuff/stories, I’m not wasting time editing and printing photos I may not use. I also use a planner dedicated to keeping notes about our week. I leave it right on our kitchen outer so I can easily write in where we went, what we did, funny things the kids said or did, as it happens. I always refer to it during the planning process so I don’t forget the really important stuff, and then I can fill in the rest.
4. How do you make time for Project Life?
I work on the previous week of Project Life every Monday afternoon while my son naps. That three hours is like an appointment with myself to get the week documented. I do get a little prep work done before that though. On the Friday prior, I plan out how i am going to fill the ocikets with the photos and stories I have so far, leaving room for the weekend. On Sunday night I upload, edit, and print all of my photos at home. I also set up my scrap space with the products I know I want to use. It took me several weeks, if not months, to find my groove but now it’s become part of my routine that I really look forward to.
Jenni has just released the final update to her Summer Mini Album Workshop! And, she saved a couple sneak peeks to share with us, today!
If you haven’t purchased the class, there is still time to document your summer! Her class comes with step-by-step instructions for putting the base of your mini album together, along with three updates from June through August of the pages she added. And, don’t forget the 13 exclusive, print-at-home, Elle’s Studio tags that come with it, too! You won’t be able to find these tags anywhere else!
There’s still time to be part of this workshop, but the Summer Lovin’ Mini Album Workshop will be available for only a limited time so join us today! The last day to purchase this class, with these exclusive tags is September 30th!
Today we are shining the spotlight on our Daily Note 3 x 4 inch tags! There are so many uses for these 10 tags – but the BEST part about them is they can be used either vertically OR horizontally! That’s right, you can flip them sideways and still journal on them.
Let’s take a peek at these tags in action:
On DT member, Jill Cornell’s layout (above) and Elle’s layout below, the tags where used as part of the title and accents on the page! This is a fun way to add a pop of color and extra layer on your projects.
On DT member, Angela Gutshall’s layout, she used them for layering and journaling!
And, since they are cut just under 3 x 4 inches, they work perfect for your Project Life pockets! You’ll see them popping up in Jenni’s Project Life album, here and there. They will work with both the vertical and horizontal Project Life pockets since you can flip them on their side and still journal on them!
GIVEAWAY: These tags are so fun and versatile that we are sure you’ll find plently of uses for them! Leave a comment telling us know how you would use them and you’ll be entered to win a set! We are giving away one set to three people! Winners will be drawn next week on Wednesday, September 12th.
A few weeks ago I took a look back in past Project Life pages and took notes about what I loved about past pages. I kept these items in mind as I completed this weeks layout.
Congrats to isabel scrap, you won last week’s giveaway! Please email michelle@shopellesstudio.com the following info to claim your prize:
We are giving away a $5 Elle’s Studio Gift Certificate! Leave a comment on this post for your chance to win– we will announce the winner next Tuesday
Our September Design Team gallery is LIVE and above is just a tiny peek at what’s there to inspire you! Our 10 design team members, along with our special guest, have created some amazing layouts, cards, and MORE! They all worked with our brand new tags and some even used our new digitals, too.
