Welcome to World Card Making Day!

Welcome to World Card Making Day! It’s an exciting day for card makers and we have tons of fun in store for you! First, we are going to start off the day by announcing that we have a brand new printable in the shop and for this weekend only, it’s on sale for only $2!

(Click the image to view larger)

It’s a super fun printable with tons and TONS of sentiments that are perfect for any kind of card! Just pull out some of your paper scraps, add a sentiment and you’re done! Plus, with this printable, you can print them out over and over again – so you’ll never be without a sentiment for your card!

We’ve asked some past guest designers, some current design team members, and some Elle’s Studio community members to play along with us today and put this new printable to use! We’ve asked them to share a sneak peek here, and then you’ll want to click over to their blog to see the full reveal!

Visit their blog (click on each of their names above) to see the full reveal of their card! You’ll even have a chance to WIN the new digital, so make sure you leave them some love to be entered!

We also have some fun cards that might inspire you, to share here at our blog!

Waleska made this cute card using our Everyday Greetings printables! We love that little cupcake with the big Thanks flags on top!

And, then Elle also had some time to make some cards to share with us today! The first ones where inspired by the new Be Merry collection! For the first card she used the “merry” tag from the mixed journaling tags and a tidbit! And, for the second card she was inspired by the Two Peas card sketch and used the Be Merry Cutouts, 3 inch circles and Pennants.

And, these fun thank you cards were made from scraps! We love, love, love using up our favorite scraps on our cards! The first card here uses a “thank you” tag from our Blessed Lil’ Snippets and the second card here uses a tag from the new Everyday Greeting printables!

And, last we have a little Halloween bag – even though it’s not a card, we had to squeeze this one in! It’s a cute sack that is full of candy, decorated with tags from our Spooky Tales collection!

Wow!! So much fun and inspiration – we hope you guys are loving it as much as we are!

We have two awesome giveaways for you today! First, we are giving away our new download to one lucky winner! And then, second we are giving away a fun prize pack of Elle’s Studio tags that we’ve put together!

To be entered to win, just leave a comment here and we’ll be drawing the two lucky winner tomorrow night (Sunday, October 7th at 8:00 pm PST)! So make sure you check back to see if you’ve won!

Also, if you are making cards today, make sure you join the ES community and upload your creations! We love browsing the gallery and you never know when we might ask YOU to participate in fun events like today! Hope you guys have a WONDERFUL and CREATIVE World Card Making Day!

Documented – a new journaling series!

I strongly believe that the words on our layouts and projects are just as important, or even more important than the photo. Most of the time, the photo cannot tell the whole story by itself. And, especially after years have past, we rely heavily on the journaling to tell us and others, the story behind the photo.

I’m excited to announce our new blog series, called Documented! With this series we will focus on helping you find and the tell the story you want to share on your projects!

For our first post in this series, we have a TIP! Sometimes the smaller details are the best details. Try telling a fun fact or detail that you cannot “see” in the photo. This layout is about the special flag cake my mom makes every year for our family reunion. But, what you can’t “see” is that it’s made from scratch – no box mixes here! And, she painstakingly picks through boxes and boxes of berries, and only the best ones go on top!

Even though I know these small details, the future me in 10 or 20 years may have forgotten such a fun fact! And, someone that hasn’t watched her make this cake would never know how much work goes into it. I love how it really personalized the story and showed how much work she puts into this cake. Without those details, you might just look at the photo and think it’s just another simple cake.

I want to challenge you this week to share a fun fact and detail that you can’t actually “see” in the photo on your next project!

Supplies used: Elle’s Studio The Sweet Life Tiny Tags, The Sweet Life Cutouts, Monthly Tidbits and Detail Flag Stamps.

I’d love to know what topics you’d like help with in our future Documented posts! Please leave a comment with your suggestions or questions and we’ll try to answer them in the future!

Project Life

This week’s Project Life covers the week of September 3-9.

I find that the longer I document using the Project Life system, the less “worried” I am about being exact about the date and time that certain occurrences happen.   I had to really work on it at the beginning- it would drive me crazy if the week didn’t progress as it happened from left to right, and if I didn’t have the accurate dates recorded in my PL.

However, when looking back at my past Project Life albums, I enjoy reading the stories more than the factual details of the week.  Yes, I still include dates, times, places, who, what, when, where… but I am not limited to those prompts when documenting.

For example, in this week’s layout, the photo of my son with the chickens was taken a few weeks prior.  However, there was SO much talk this week about the fact we want to have our own backyard chicken next spring (help me!), that I included this photo because it supports the story of our week.   And I am totally okay with that.

When creating your layouts and thinking about the stories you want to tell, is there another photo (maybe not even taken that week) that supports a story from your week?

Congrats to Emma Miya, you are the winner of last week’s giveaway!

I’m excited to announce that I will be teaching at True Scrap 4!

I am so excited to announce that I will be teaching a Make n’ Take at True Scrap 4! I feel so blessed for this opportunity to be among the amazingly talented ladies who are also teaching! Lain has pulled together an amazing group that will leave you beyond inspired!

Here is a sneak peek at the project I will be showing you how to make in less than 15 minutes, from start to finish! And, I love how it makes the perfect display piece, too! I used our Spooky Tales collection and it came together so perfectly! However, I’m going to have to make another one, because my mom already “called dibs” on this one and it’s now on display at her house!

If you haven’t heard of True Scrap 4, you have to go check it out – it’s on online scrapbooking weekend that you do online, without leaving the house! Instructors teach via video and you can even watch them in your pj’s! I also love that you don’t have to travel and pack up your supplies – that is a double bonus!!

I hope you can join us for this scrapbooking weekend “getaway” – it’s going to be a blast!
