Last-Minute Love You’s with Melissa Mann

Hello and good morning, friends! This is Melissa with you here today with last-minute greeting card ideas for Valentine’s Day! I created these love-themed cards using both the January and February monthly releases along with the Sincere Sentiments Wonderful You collection:

Supplies | January 2022 Kit, Ledger Die Cut Tags, Fuchsia Cardstock Label Stickers, Jane Tile Alphabet Cardstock Stickers – Fuchsia, Heart and Star Chipboard Stickers – Warm, Love You Paper Stack, Currently Stamp, Good Times Banner Stamp, Sincere Sentiments Wonderful You Stamp, Sincere Sentiments Wonderful You Metal Die

The card with the striped background was a surprisingly quick card to put together. I used the 4 x 6 multi-colored striped journaling card from the January 2022 Kit and trimmed off the last stripe of color and adhered to a white cardstock base.

I used my leftover Heart and Star Chipboard Stickers matching the stickers to the coordinating stripes. On the middle two stripes, I stamped the repeating phrase “LOVE YOU” across in teal ink. I stamped out the word “YOU” from the Sincere Sentiments Wonderful You Stamp and cut it out with the coordinating Metal Die and placed it over my stamped stripes. I stamped the sentiment “LOVING LOVING” using the Good Times Banner Stamp and placed it over the word YOU.  

For the second card, I cut out a block of the “XO” patterned paper from the Love You Paper Stack and adhered it to a white cardstock base. I used watercolor paints to quickly swipe color across this panel and let that dry. Using one of the Ledger Die Cut Tags, I adhered three of the die cut “YOU” words. A couple of pieces of ribbon were stapled to the top of the tag and then using a Fuchsia Cardstock Label Sticker and the Jane Tile Alphabet Cardstock Stickers, I created a sentiment that simply said “LOVE” and adhered over the die cut words. I mounted the Ledger Die Cut Tag to the base of the card using foam dots for some added dimension.

Beach Love with Sarah Kee

Hi, Elle’s friends! It’s me, Sarah, on the blog, and today I’m excited to be sharing a 12 x 12 inch layout that I created using the February 2022 monthly kit and awesome add-ons.

I felt inspired to scrapbook photos from a recent beach trip. Here’s what I made:

To start, I stamped a background with designs from the Love Notes Stamp; I repetitively used the journal stamp and the small hearts stamp. I also stamped various stamps, “right now,” “love this,” and “with all my heart,” from the Love You Stamp to help create my background.

After creating my stamped background, I layered on my three “framed” photos. How did I make these “framed” photos? Easy! Each monthly kit comes with a handful of coordinating 3 x 4 inch tags. Instead of using them for journaling, I love to use them as frames or mats for my photos. They tend to help make those photos stand out from the rest of your page. 

I also added the February 2022 Kit die cut tabs to the top of my photos. I stamped phrases from the Summertime Tabs Stamp.

Then, I added three hearts cut from the February 2022 Cut Files to go alongside my photos. The Love You Paper Stack has an awesome red patterned paper that works perfectly for these die cut hearts.

To embellish my layout, I scattered various stars from the Heart and Star Chipboard Stickers. I also added a yellow label from the February 2022 Print and Cut Labels. I love how versatile digital files are. They definitely stretch each monthly kit! 

For the “Beach” in my title, I used the Parker Alphabet Stamp and the Parker Alphabet Metal Die. I stamped “Love” using the Lizzy Alphabet Stamp. With foam adhesive, I was able to create a stand-out title for my page. Did you happen to see the fun, new Gold Heart Paper Clips?! I’m in love with them! They work well as photo corners, but they also could work as placeholders in mini albums. I may need to pick up more to use for future projects! 

What did you think of the February 2022 kit and add-ons?! Awesome, right?! I’m really fawning over that new Love Notes Stamp. I can see myself using it on so many different projects. That’s truly the best part about Elle’s Studio products, though. They’re so versatile and can be used over and over again!

February Kit and Add-Ons Sneak with Aurélie Cormier 

Hello, everyone! It’s Aurélie here today to show you what I have been up to with the new February 2022 Kit and add-ons coming your way tomorrow!

The other day, my eight-year old daughter, Éloïse, asked me to make a few Valentine’s Day cards for some of her friends. I quickly figured that creating with the February Monthly Kit along with the Love You Paper Stack would be absolutely perfect. Then came the question: What products should I use? There are so many possibilities that I actually had to think about it for a second. I opted for a simple solution: paper, a die cut tag, stamps and dies.

I don’t think I’ve ever created something with so little product! Throughout the process, I kept thinking to myself, “Keep it simple. Keep it simple.” With this in mind, I went to a go-to technique I have used many times on layouts and cards in the last year or so: the staggering tower of paper scraps.

I dove in my Love You Paper Stack leftovers and started building my little tower of scraps. With a few die cut hearts from the soon-to-be-released Love Notes Metal Die as well as an “XO” cut using the Large Jane Alphabet Metal Die (quickly becoming one of my favorites, by the way), I finished the first card with a bit of hand-stitching around the perimeter.

I still had a few paper leftovers, so I thought to myself, “I should make a trio of cards with the same patterns. A cohesive look could be cute, right?” So I started making what I call the “doorfront” card, creating a series of four panels using the same patterned papers I used on my first card. But, what could I use for a sentiment that would be different than the “XO” card? A strip? A few scattered hearts? I was stumped. Then, I saw it—the circle seal stamp on the new Love Notes Stamp. It was perfect!

Now, some people smell their paper. It’s a thing. And I admit it, I may have done that on occasion. However, I sometimes hear it, too. The speech bubble patterned paper in the paper stack? I swear it was asking me to fussy-cut it!

See what I did there? I created a longer sentiment by mixing and matching a few speech bubbles with the awesome Sincere Sentiments Wonderful You Stamp. On what, you may ask? On one of the lovely tags coming your way in the February Kit, of course! I also sprinkled a few hearts on there using the Love Notes Stamp and Metal Die that you will be able to get your hands on on February 10th, too!

There you have it! Three Valentine’s Day cards for Éloïse’s friends ready to go! The next time you have a few cards to make, just take out a few things and create! It really does help to keep things simple.

Sweet & Simple Rainbow Valentines with Meghann Andrew

Hello, Elle’s Studio friends! It’s Meghann Andrew and I’m so excited to kick off a fresh, new week with you today! Valentine’s Day is less than a week away, so I’m here to share how I created the sweetest and most colorful Valentine’s using some of our newest products that you may have in your stash, as well as a tiny sneak of one product to come in our February release!

I could not love these little greetings of happiness more, and they all began with the rainbow tag from the January 2022 Printables. I printed 6 of these tags out on a single sheet of cardstock to create the base layer of these 3 x 4 inch cards.

From there, I began to die cut hearts using the My Heart Metal Die, gold foil cardstock and white cardstock. I adhered the smaller white heart to the gold using adhesive dots before topping each with a Puffy Rainbow Sticker. Isn’t this just the sweetest grouping? It’s sure to make someone smile!

The Wonderful You Stamp helped me to add three perfect sentiments to labels, but not just any labels—brand new Heart Label Stamp labels that will hit the shop on February 10th! Alternatively, you could use our Labels Stamp with gold embossing powder to get the same look, or to make it even easier, type your own sentiment onto the January 2022 Print and Cut Labels!

I had to create envelopes that were as colorful as the cards themselves, and I did that with an envelope punch board and the Cool and Warm Solids Paper Stacks. Starting with a 6 inch square piece of each paper, I scored and punched alternatively at 3-3/8″ and then 2-5/8″ to create the small, rectangular envelopes that would fit the 3 x 4″ cards.

These could not have been more simple, and I just love the way that they turned out. To show you firsthand, I created a process video! Take a look at how these easy designs came together step-by-step in this video:

Sketch Day with Nathalie Leonelli

Hello, it’s Nathalie and I am happy to be here for sketch day! I will share with you my latest traveler’s notebook spread based on an adaptation of this great 12 x 12 inch layout sketch: 

My project documents the (few) books I read in 2021 and features several items from the January 2022 kit and add-ons including my new favorites, the Large Heart Jane alphabet and number stamps.

I made collages of the book covers that I read and printed them as two photos. Their placement is similar to the sketch, but in order to work in a notebook format, I rotated the sides of the sketch, title and border  to become the top and bottom.

The background papers are from the new Love You Paper Stack and I selected them because they match most of the colors in the book covers. I added a few layers with vellum from my stash, a tag from the January 2022 Kit and a die-cut from the Love Notes Die Cuts.

I think that the “piece de resistance” is the title, stamped on plain cardstock from the Warm Solids Paper Stack and cut using the matching metal dies.

Print & Cute CUTE with Wei Wei Wang

It’s Wei Wei with you, and today I wanted to show you how I used the January 2022 digital files to create a fun layout! Using digital files offers so many possibilities and the files Elle’s Studio offers are always beautiful and a great addition to the kit and other products. Let’s take a look!

I felt inspired by the heart in the January 2022 Cut Files, so I decided to focus on using that cut file for my background. After cutting out the file from white cardstock, I arranged the die cuts to make a heart cluster on the upper portion of my layout. Next, I backed my photos with “XO” patterned paper from the Love You Paper Stack and positioned them on top of the heart cluster with foam tape.

I opened the PNG of the colorful heart journaling tag from the January 2022 Printables in Photoshop, enlarged the size and printed it out. I fussy cut the colorful hearts to create my own embellishments, and foam mounted them beside my photo and the lower right corner of the layout. I also printed the colorful-striped journaling tag and January 2022 Print and Cut Labels and added it to the background frame surrounding the white cardstock.

For the title, I stamped “CUTE” using the fabulous Large Heart Jane Alphabet Stamp with red ink and cut it out using the accompanying Metal Die. To further balance my layout, I cut out a few of the labels from the January 2022 Print and Cut Labels and January 2022 Printables, and layered them toward the top and bottom of my photos. I also embellished with Heart and Star and Love Chipboard Stickers.

Using digital files is a fun way to make quick work of putting a layout together! I can’t wait to see how you take these digital files and make them yours!

Rays of Color Love with LeeAnne Jones

Strategically pieced and layered smaller papers on a larger base creates a convincing illusion. For this layout, I made a sunburst-style rainbow with the Love You Paper Stack. Each ray was cut from one sheet of paper, and only the white and grey portions at the bottom required piecing two halves of a sheet to reach the full width of the base cardstock. Bonus: Since the paper stack comes with two sheets of each pattern, I’ve barely made a dent! Perhaps I’ll duplicate this layout so both of my daughters get one in their albums!

I love geometric design and I love symmetry. To embellish the sunburst rainbow, I used elements from the January 2022 Kit for tone-on-tone fun. Then, I added January Labels along the bottom to mirror the colors above. Note that I chose to cut the yellow label in half and run it on both sides of my journaling to maintain symmetry. I couldn’t have that yellow off to just one side! For journaling, I used the pink tag from the Bright Heart Journaling Tags to help tie in the colors of the photo, and then added matching pink hearts from the Heart and Star Chipboard Stickers on the sides. It draws an invisible circle around the stamped title, which uses the fabulous Large Heart Jane Alphabet Stamp.

Any time I have an opportunity to add embroidery to a layout, I take it. I love the look; it lends both texture and whimsy. If you’re new to stitching on paper, my biggest tip would be to pre-poke holes using a paper piercer or straight pin into a foam mat. This minimizes the risk of bending and creasing the paper as you stitch.
