cards

Hi guys! Valentine’s day is just around the corner and I have started planning and creating lovey-dovey cards and treats to celebrate.

I combined the January kit, digital cut files and the Love You More collection for these. Valentine’s day is the only time of year I feel it’s totally ok to create girly stuff so my cards are very much pink 🙂

Project Life

This week’s Project Life covers the week of January 20-26.

This was a fun week to put together.  I used a combination of Elle’s Studio 2014 CalendarsEveryday Moments, and the January 2014 Kit.

This was a busy and full week, so I added an insert so everything would be included.

One of the highlights of the week was a weekend overnight with my daughter.  We went with a friend and her little girl to Disney on Ice downtown and got a hotel room.   I took SO many photos from that event and decided to scatter it throughout the entire spread.

The backside of the insert tells the actual story of our getaway.

I had to include this photo as an enlargement of my daughter and her friend after they finally fell asleep in the hotel.   Including enlargements makes such a great statement and focus for the spread!

We want to feature your Project Life album!  During the last week of each month we will be featuring a couple Project Life spreads that caught our eye in the Member Gallery.  We will be posting Project Life spreads on our blog tomorrow!   If your spread is featured we will be sending you a $5 gift card to use in our store.   Good Luck!

Gossamer Blue & Elle’s Studio Blog Hop!

Are you ready for a fun blog hop that is FULL of inspiration? We are so excited to have teamed up with Gossamer Blue to bring you over 25 stops of amazing inspiration using their February kits!

I even got to play along and was so excited when my box arrived. We love how will our items from our brand new Love You More collection worked with other manufacturers items in this kit – it was so fun to mix and match them!

Using their main kit for February, I made this fun layout about my nephew and how much he LOVES making cupcakes:

I loved the exclusive wood veneers that where included with the kit – they added so much to this layout!

On the left hand side of the layout, I layered all my favorite embellishements underneath a scalloped cut out border. It added such a fun peek-a-boo element to the layout.

I also got to work with their main kit add-on and used their exclusive cut file that came with their main kit, and a bunch of Elle’s Studio items, and embellishments from other manufacturers.

This was such a fun cut file – I loved adding different papers to each cut out hexagon.

And then, for the title, I cut out this sentiment from our Elle’s Studio journaling tags!

These kits left me feeling so inspired and I just wanted to keep creating! I still have lots of items left over and some fun plans for some Valentine’s Day surprises 😉

sketch thursday

Happy Thursday everyone! Today’s sketch was inspired by WaiSam’s Fun Facts layout from the Design Team gallery.

DT member, Valerie played along this week and created this amazing layout. Check out all the cool stamping!

When I saw the sketch I knew I wanted to do some layering down one of the photo using some stamping and wood veneer pieces, and since my photo subject was facing towards the left side of my layout, I flipped the sketch upside down and layered everything down the left side of the photo instead of the right side as it was in the sketch. Project Life

Today’s Project Life covers the week of January 13-19.
For this spread I used a combination of our 2014 Paper Collection, Everyday Moments, and Love you More.  I love how the Good Times Stamp fits over the Calendar.

Being in the Mid-West, we have had quite a few school delays and closings due to snow and frigid temperatures.  I feel like our normal school routine has yet to start for 2014.

I embraced this in my spread and highlighted a few movies/ TV shows/ games/ toys we currently enjoy and watched this particular week.  I always think it will be fun to look back years from now and see what we enjoyed doing.

Capture Life : 01.27.14 : Hearts

Capture Life : Hearts
I was recently inspired by Drew Barrymore’s new book : Find It in Everything. It’s a collection of heart images that she has captured over the past ten years.
I thought what a fun challenge!
I had a few photos in my stash from past weddings & engagement sessions that came to mind right away; but my littlest and I also set out on a sunny afternoon to find a few hearts around our farm yard as well as inside our house.
Love the happiness behind this newly connected heart.

A sweet treat with an even sweeter message.

I searched and searched through our wood piles because I knew somewhere there would be a hidden heart. Score!

Miss Princess’ fave shirt.

This was from a fun engagement shoot I did last Fall. The groom-to-be carved it on the fly to add a special touch to the day.

A slightly hidden heart found in one of our beautiful deer mounts.

And a simply little ceramic piece I had forgotten about for so long.

To continue the heart theme onto my layout I of course reached to the new Love You More! collection as well as the wood veneers. I wanted to give them a “candy heart” look so I painted them in a few different pastel colors that would coordinate with the papers.

I pulled out the Cameron Alphabet stamp set to create my title and sprinkles lots of hearts throughout my design.

Will you take the heart challenge? If you do instagram & share a photo here : #ellesstudiohearts
We can’t wait to see what you find!

Tag You’re It : 01.27.14

Introducing Tag You’re It!

I’m excited to announce a new monthly blog post where I’ll be focusing on creating tags while sharing my step-by-step process.

Today I’m using a combination of the new collection Love You More!, the limited quantity January stamp set, and the January Cut Files.

I started with three manila tags that I had in my stash.
I cut the Kisses pattern paper to 3×6” and trimmed the top corners to match up with the premade tags.

Tag #1 : I attached the heart tag, stamped love from the January stamp kit in a soft grey ink, and used a pink paint dauber to stamp the heart from the Love You More stamp set.

This is something I love that Elle does within her collections. The way bits and pieces fit perfectly together and how they layer in just the right way. So much thought goes into her design process!

I wanted to keep this first tag more on the simple side of things
so I added just a few of the precut tag pieces using pop dots for dimension.

Since these tags will be for on my kiddos Valentine’s gifts I wanted to make sure I included the 2014 stamp from the Good Times Stamp set on each because in the end they make their way back into my Project Life album.

Tag #2 we’re going to add a few more layers.

Starting with the same Kisses paper and layered on top of the manila envelope I folded over a paper doily and attached it with adhesive.

I once again used the heart stamp but this time with a cream chalk ink so it’s subtle.

I then stamped the outline of the heart with a grey ink.

After layering a framed piece and a tag again from the Love You More! Collection I decided the stamped heart needed a bit of glitz. So, I used liquid glitter as an outline and by simply using a q-tip I spread a thin layer over the cream background of the heart.

From there I added anther tag, the “love” piece that I cut out of glitter cardstock using the January cut files, and topped off with a cute little wood veneer heart.

_____________________________________
Tag #3 is just a bit more involved with the layering yet still pretty simple.
The first layer is a paper doily with a 3×4 journaling card on top.

I then stamped the love using the limited edition January stamp set and topped the journaling card with a framed piece; this time using pop dots to add more dimension.

The thank you tag is attached using a tiny attacher.

And the I adore you tag wraps around the frame to add a bit of fun…

… colored confetti and dots of glitter to sparkle …

… And the final layer is a sneak peek into the February cut files!
And all together now …

I can’t wait to add these to the kids’ presents this year and I hope they inspire you to create a few of your own!
