Hello 2015 by Jill Sprott

xoxo-JILL-lgHello 2015! Jill Sprott here, and since we’re a little over one week into the new year, what better way to greet it than with the new Elle’s Studio Hello 2015 tags and accents?  While one way to use the calendar tags is to save them for Project Life pages and month-by-month layouts, I decided to use a bunch of them at once. I charted the time from the beginning of the year, when this photo of my cousin and her fiance was taken, to the time that my entire family has been waiting for — when the happy couple ties the knot this August.

xoxo-det2-JILLTo emphasize the progression from one date to the next, I added some wandering, roundabout stitching, depicting the way that time seems to move when you’re really looking forward to something.  Along the way, there are lovely little “landmarks,” in the form of accents that I trimmed from tags and patterned paper. I added a Love You More wood veneer heart next to the first date, with its counterpart next to the wedding date, and a third next to the couple, creating a visual triangle.

xoxo-det-JILLIt seems fitting that on this page, which celebrates the new year as well as a great love, both Hello 2015 and the Love You More collection appear side by side.

Project Life Cover Pages

Today we are excited to share with you three different types of Project Life cover pages! Jennifer, Megan, and Jenni each start a new album for the new year, and for the first opening page they have put together a cover page that shows a quick summary of their family and more! Let’s take a peek:

ES-JenChaplin01Jennifer Chapin says “I was really excited to use the Hello 2015 collection for my 2015 PL cover page! I recently discovered these 12×2 page protectors from Kaisercraft that hold 12 3×4 cards and knew I wanted to use it for the title page. I printed off 4 photos of our family in 3×4 with white borders and added these to the center row of pockets. I pulled cards from the Hello 2015 collection along with Sycamore lane, as well as using my typewriter, stamps and cork embellishments. I love the way it turned out and it’s so bright and colorful!”

ES-15-cover-page-jenchapin-(4)
“This year I am planning on doing my PL in 12×12 format, however I still do like to use the 6×8 albums on occasion. To satisfy that need, my plan is to keep separate smaller albums for specific themes. I have this idea that I am going to do a 6×8 album of PL just for me, sort of like a journal. So we will see how that turns out! Overall, I am going to keep my PL low stress. I don’t get concerned with whether I am “caught up” and I don’t do spreads dedicated to just one week or one month. I scrapbook as I am inspired, which leaves me with a hodgepodge of weeks at the end of the year, but that’s ok!”

ES-JenChaplin02
“One thing I would like to try to do is print photos ahead. Currently I print at home, on demand, but it would be nice to have a pile of photos ready so that I don’t have to worry about that step when I sit down to scrapbook. Another plan of mine is to somehow organize all my PL cards and kits…..I haven’t even started this yet, but I am thinking about it a lot!”

ES-15-cover-page-jenchapin-(3)Products used: Hello 2015 Calendar Tags, Cork Shapes, Stamp, and Stickers; Sycamore Lane Journaling Tags; Love You More Journaling Tags; and December Exclusive Kit.

ES-Megan01Megan Klauer said: “I’ve started my 2015 Album by recording a few of our goals. I kept the pictures subtle by reducing the opacity to 50% before printing. Because they aren’t technically “2015” photos I wanted the goals & journaling to be the focus yet still have a few images. I’ve combined the new Hello 2015 Collection, December Kit, along with a sneak of the January Kit to create my page. A fun tip : stamp directly onto the photos! It’s a great way to add a saying such as I did on my image {This is what life is all about!} ”

ES-Megan04
“I use the 12 x 12 inch size and do my Project Life on a monthly basis. Some months may have multiple pages, some just a few. I don’t stress about it too much. In 2013 I completed 5 full 12 x 12 albums. In 2014 I have 4 full (most of which still needs to be scrapbooked, but all of my photos are printed and slipped into the pocket pages ready for the creative fun part!)”

ES-Megan02
“I will try to continue to print photos as the year progresses. I like the idea of having all of them in order in the pocket pages, even if they aren’t scrapbooked yet. This way during my slow work months I can really focus on the scrapbooking and memory keeping part! I have thoroughly enjoyed taking part in Project Life. I’m preserved more everyday moments than I ever would have before!”

ES-Megan03Products used: Hello 2015 Calendar Tags, Cork Shapes, Stamp, and Stickers; Letter Stickers – White; Foodie Wood Veneer; December Exclusive Kit; and January Exclusive Kit.

Jenni01Jenni Hufford said “I am excited to begin my fourth year of documenting with Project Life.  Each year I like to evaluate how I am documenting and look for ways to make this process easier, or streamline it to fit our lives. This year I plan to continue with a traditional album, document weekly, however change up pocket sizes and even my album size in the summer months.”

“One thing I noticed last year was that I enjoyed adding different sized pocket pages to my album.  I LOVE working with the coin pocket pages and want to incorporate this size and various other sizes with in my album. I want to even include scrapbook layouts within a spread if that’s what best documents my week. Some weeks have less or more photos than others— for those less weeks, I plan to just do one page (instead of a full two page spread).  I truly want to make this album work with our family schedule!”

Jenni03“The summer is always a very busy time for us, so I have already decided that my album for the summer will be a smaller size (probably a 6×8 pocket page style).  I am excited to see how that works and if this change will help me “keep up” better in the summer months. I am looking forward to a great year documenting with Project Life and Elle’s Studio!”

CELEBRATE DECEMBER WITH PAM LLAGUNO AND MARTHA BONNEAU

CelebrateDecember2014

Welcome to Celebrate December at Elle’s Studio! The month of December will be packed with holiday inspiration, projects, layouts, and gift ideas from many talented designers. So make sure to visit Elle’s Studio everyday for prizes, giveaways, and inspiration!

Today we have Pam Llaguno and Martha Bonneau sharing how they document the holiday season with pocket pages.

First, Pam is sharing a few pages from her December Daily album!

DD-COVER1Pam shares, “I decided to go simple + minimalist for my December Daily (which is going to be incorporated into my Project Life 2014 album). For the cover / divider, I used an 8.5 x 11” page protector and cut out one of my favorite patterned paper from the Good Cheer collection. I love those little and subtle snowflakes! I used the fun December 2014 wood veneer as my title and then added some gold chipboard stars from the Heidi Swapp Gold Foil Value Kit.

DD-SPREAD1

For the back side of the cover, I used Ali Edwards’ “The Reason Why” printable and resized it to fit my protector. I want to remember why I even decided to start this project (despite previously deciding not to). I added another gold chipboard star at the top. For the bottom of the page, I stamped “Oh what fun!” on a separate cardstock, cut it out and adhered it to the page using foam tabs. The hint of shadow it creates definitely adds a subtle dimension to an otherwise simple page 😉

DD-CLOSEUP-1

I thought it might be too crazy to dedicate an entire 12 x 12″ spread to one day so I settled into splitting them in half, vertically. My formula for each day is date pocket + photo pocket + journaling pocket.

DAY1-3

Day 1 is about starting a new Christmas tradition – Advent Calendars. I snapped a photo of the simple advent calendar boxes I made for my sisters and focused on writing about WHY I wanted to do an Advent Calendar this year (and the coming years as well). The alphabet stickers from Elle’s Studio is seriously one of my favorites… ever. I love the size, the color and the font! I’m definitely using these all throughout my December Daily.

DAY1-2

For Day 2, I took inspiration from Ali Edwards and created a see-through, triangle Christmas tree pocket. I turned out perfect since my story that day was about the big, grand and beautiful white + blue Christmas Tree at my office’s lobby.

DAY2-2I thought, “Hmm, this seems like a good opportunity to list out my (material) wish list for this year!” The numbered card from the exclusive December 2014 kit was perfect for this.

I really love how well the items from the Good Cheer collection + monthly exclusive kit matched well with some items from my stash. I didn’t go crazy on embellishments this time because I wanted to focus on the photo + story so all the subtle, minimal additions of wood veneer, chipboard stars and alphas all helped me highlight the stories that I wanted to cherish. I hope you guys are having a fun December!”

Now, Martha Bonneau has a beautiful holiday pocket spread to share today.EllesTreePL

Martha shares, “This year I have learned my lesson, after looking at 2 unfinished December albums for the past 2 years I knew that as much as I would like to tackle the project again it just wouldn’t get done. What I have been successful at this year is keeping up to date with my Project Life album, I am proud to say that I have been completing it week by week and haven’t fallen behind all year!

EllesElfPL

What I have decided to do for December this year is add extra pages to my PL album to commemorate special events throughout the month. Events like trimming the tree, visiting Santa, documenting the antics of our Elf on The Shelf (who happens to be named Kitty), cookie decorating and 1 or 2 more events we have established as traditions in our family. I am simply adding these pages into my album with my weekly pages.

elles4

For my first 2 pages I documented trimming our tree and the first week of visits from our elf. What I love about Elle’s 3×4 and 4×6 cards is they are so cute with so many fun details, all you have to do is add a bit of stamping or a couple of small embellishments and you are done!

elles1

I LOVE the wood veneer embellishments and used a little green embroidery thread to sew them to my pictures in the tree trimming page.

elles3

To me, the snippets, labels, and tags are just calling out to be layered up. On my elf page I layered lots of fun pieces on the 3×4 cards in the center row.”

EllesStudio-CelebrateDecember-Giveaway

To be entered in today’s giveaway, leave a comment below to win the Good Cheer Collection (excluding the wood veneer), and the Numbers Stamp!  Good Luck!
