Welcome to Celebrate December at Elle’s Studio! The month of December will be packed with holiday inspiration, projects, layouts, and gift ideas from many talented designers. So make sure to visit Elle’s Studio everyday for prizes, giveaways, and inspiration!
Today we have Pam Llaguno and Martha Bonneau sharing how they document the holiday season with pocket pages.
First, Pam is sharing a few pages from her December Daily album!
Pam shares, “I decided to go simple + minimalist for my December Daily (which is going to be incorporated into my Project Life 2014 album). For the cover / divider, I used an 8.5 x 11” page protector and cut out one of my favorite patterned paper from the Good Cheer collection. I love those little and subtle snowflakes! I used the fun December 2014 wood veneer as my title and then added some gold chipboard stars from the Heidi Swapp Gold Foil Value Kit.
For the back side of the cover, I used Ali Edwards’ “The Reason Why” printable and resized it to fit my protector. I want to remember why I even decided to start this project (despite previously deciding not to). I added another gold chipboard star at the top. For the bottom of the page, I stamped “Oh what fun!” on a separate cardstock, cut it out and adhered it to the page using foam tabs. The hint of shadow it creates definitely adds a subtle dimension to an otherwise simple page 😉
I thought it might be too crazy to dedicate an entire 12 x 12″ spread to one day so I settled into splitting them in half, vertically. My formula for each day is date pocket + photo pocket + journaling pocket.
Day 1 is about starting a new Christmas tradition – Advent Calendars. I snapped a photo of the simple advent calendar boxes I made for my sisters and focused on writing about WHY I wanted to do an Advent Calendar this year (and the coming years as well). The alphabet stickers from Elle’s Studio is seriously one of my favorites… ever. I love the size, the color and the font! I’m definitely using these all throughout my December Daily.
For Day 2, I took inspiration from Ali Edwards and created a see-through, triangle Christmas tree pocket. I turned out perfect since my story that day was about the big, grand and beautiful white + blue Christmas Tree at my office’s lobby.
I thought, “Hmm, this seems like a good opportunity to list out my (material) wish list for this year!” The numbered card from the exclusive December 2014 kit was perfect for this.
I really love how well the items from the Good Cheer collection + monthly exclusive kit matched well with some items from my stash. I didn’t go crazy on embellishments this time because I wanted to focus on the photo + story so all the subtle, minimal additions of wood veneer, chipboard stars and alphas all helped me highlight the stories that I wanted to cherish. I hope you guys are having a fun December!”
Now, Martha Bonneau has a beautiful holiday pocket spread to share today.
Martha shares, “This year I have learned my lesson, after looking at 2 unfinished December albums for the past 2 years I knew that as much as I would like to tackle the project again it just wouldn’t get done. What I have been successful at this year is keeping up to date with my Project Life album, I am proud to say that I have been completing it week by week and haven’t fallen behind all year!
What I have decided to do for December this year is add extra pages to my PL album to commemorate special events throughout the month. Events like trimming the tree, visiting Santa, documenting the antics of our Elf on The Shelf (who happens to be named Kitty), cookie decorating and 1 or 2 more events we have established as traditions in our family. I am simply adding these pages into my album with my weekly pages.
For my first 2 pages I documented trimming our tree and the first week of visits from our elf. What I love about Elle’s 3×4 and 4×6 cards is they are so cute with so many fun details, all you have to do is add a bit of stamping or a couple of small embellishments and you are done!
I LOVE the wood veneer embellishments and used a little green embroidery thread to sew them to my pictures in the tree trimming page.
To me, the snippets, labels, and tags are just calling out to be layered up. On my elf page I layered lots of fun pieces on the 3×4 cards in the center row.”
To be entered in today’s giveaway, leave a comment below to win the Good Cheer Collection (excluding the wood veneer), and the Numbers Stamp! Good Luck!
