Capture Life : The Interview

As Mom, the scrapbooker, and the photographer of our family I’m the one capturing memories of us and our adventures. (Which means typically my scrapbooking is written from my point of view.) One day I thought, “ya know it’s so important to get our kids’ words in our books as well”. So, today I’m highlighting a page I created doing just that.

While playing in the snow last month I took a quick shot of each of my kiddos and created what I like to call an “interview” page. The Question being : What is your favorite part of winter?

I wrote the kids’ answers exactly as they told them to me. It was funny how their answers were all so similar. I used three of the 3×4 cards from the February Kit for the kids’ answers. Just a quick example of how you can use the cards out side of the pocket pages.

Happy Valentine’s Day

Happy Valentine’s Day, everyone! We are so excited to celebrate this special day and share two amazing layouts by Stephanie and Kay – highlighting our Love You More collection and our new exclusives! Let’s check them out!

First up is this incredible eye candy collage by Stephanie:
Stephanie says “My hubby and I rarely get pictures together since it’s always one of us behind the camera, so on my birthday date I made him stop and take a picture with me before we got ready to go. I was so happy to finally have a picture of me and my love to use with some of these cute love themed products that have been catching my eye. I used a ton. I picked so many “favorites” to go onto my layout that I ended up turning my page into a type of grid design. I love that it allowed me to fit most of them on here and still look clean and tidy.”

Kay says “I used the 12×12 Heart Pattern Cut File as a mask to create a subtle background of hearts on this page. I then used three of the hearts for a bit of dimension on the design, first folding them, then adhering them over the misted design. Then I added pieces from the Love You More collection and Lots of Love printables.”

DOCUMENTING VALENTINES DAY

Today I want to share a Valentine’s spread that I created for my daughter’s childhood album.

If you have a child in school I can probably guess what you have been doing this week. Lots of Valentine’s and class parties! It has been the same in our household this week— Valentine’s Day is so much fun!

I have been working on my daughter’s childhood album from last year and just this week I began to document her Valentine’s party. I had saved a few special Valentine’s she received last year and put them in a grid page protector. I think she will enjoy looking back at this page years from now and remembering friend’s names and the popular Valentine themes (hello “Frozen”).

I hand cut “Love” from the Love You More pattern paper collection. I also added a few details and journaling about her day and her class party. Because the colors of the Valentine’s were so “busy”, I made sure to add a lot of white space by including two pockets that contained only wood veneer pieces, and added some Kraft yardstick into the mix.

I absolutely adore the February kit. Love how the tags, wood veneers and stamp go so well together. I actually cut up the Feb kit packaging to use as my background paper. The soft pink checkered packaging is perfect for all the elements on my card.The colors are absolutely perfect for LOVE theme. Jessy

Our February Kit + add-ons are here, with a sale!

PROJECT LIFE

Today I am sharing the week of January 12-18th in my 2015 Project Life album.

I created this spread to document the entire week (instead of a few days as I have done in past spreads), and it felt good to be working on a weekly basis. It’s been a busy season in our household with home construction projects, so I haven’t been using my camera very much. I was worried I wouldn’t have enough photos to support an entire spread for this week— but that was when I was reminded that quotes and found items are just as important as the photos!

I received a typewriter for Christmas and my kids just LOVE it. They practice their spelling words on it and love to make up sentences. I included some of these spelling lists and typed journaling from my kids.

I used quite a bit of the Elle’s Studio Exclusive February 2015 for this spread. I adore the bright yellow, teal, and pink colors. They work well with one another (and also with bits and pieces of other items from last months kit). Today only this kit is available for $9.99 (regular price is $11.99)

Love by Michelle Wedertz

Today we get to feature this beautiful love themed layout by Michelle Wedertz! This is such a gorgeous layout using our Love You More collection and our exclusive products – we love how well they went together! And, if you look closely, you’ll even see some sneak peeks from our February exclusives that will be available in our shop tomorrow!
Michelle says “One of my favorite design techniques is to create a neutral base for my layout and then add pops of color. For this layout, I pulled both the black polka dot and cream doily papers from the Love You More collection to use as my base and then lightly adhered turquoise hearts that I cut using the January cut files. I added a few pieces of pink to add a little contrast and finished up by adding some gold misted wood veneer.
