PROJECT LIFE: SPRING BREAK

Today I am sharing a spread that covers our Spring Break Week (roughly Friday March 27-Saturday April 4).  I am happy with this method of not being so strict with one spread representing one calendar week.  I love having the vacation represented on one full page instead of worrying about the calendar dates.IMG_0835Our Spring Break was packed with many different activities.  We drove from the mid-west to Florida, and enjoyed several stops along the way.  This spread is literally a brief overview of the highlights of our vacation.  IMG_0825

The April 2015 Exclusive Kit is a phenomenal kit for documenting Spring Break or any type of vacation.   The colors worked wonderfully with the beach/Florida theme!  I also LOVED the tiny Monday-Friday flag tags that I could place on photos to document the day.     ES-April-2015

I knew I wanted to use the yellow triangle tag as my “date/title card”.  Initially I was going to print a few photos to place into the triangles, however I wasn’t getting the sizing right on the photos.  I decided to instead outline the triangles and journal some trip highlights in the triangles.  I love how it turned out!

IMG_0828

We visited the Coke Museum in Atlanta on our way to Florida and I included the Coke label that was on plastic bag.  I love that it a large transparent statement– and I just love the Coke font!

IMG_0831One of my favorite journaling cards in the April 2015 Exclusive Kit is the 4×6 Morning/Afternoon/Evening Card.  It was PERFECT to document the surprise overnight we took to Disney during our vacation.   We packed a lot into the day but it’s all documented on that card.   I added a few small photos to the journaling card so that it wouldn’t be so text heavy.

I hope this gives you some ideas of how the April 2015 kit would be perfect to document your Spring Break or vacations!IMG_0833Elle’s Studio Products Used:  Elle’s Studio’s April 2015 Kit, Cienna Journaling Tag, Shine Lil Snippets- Highlights, Cienna Wood Veneers, Letter & Number Stickers- Red, Lots of Love Wood Veneers

Project Life Process Video by Toni From

It’s Toni here today and I would like to share with y’all how I documented the first half of March using pocket style scrapbooking. One thing I love about this method of memory keeping is that it is such a time saver. Once I pulled all of my favorite Elle’s Studio supplies together, and my basic tools, I was ready to go. I was able to document seven different memories in approximately 30 minutes, and I love the result.
EllesStudio-Toni01My left page shows a fun spring photo of our pergola that I just really liked, a photo and story of our daughter at softball tryouts, and the kiddos having breakfast with their besties at our house. Three photos, two stories documented, and some fun Elle’s studio cards, stamps, cork, stickers, and wood veneer thrown in there to help accentuate my pages.
EllesStudio-Toni02The right page has some longer stories typed directly onto the photos, but I also managed to squeeze in another story onto a great journaling card from the April Kit. I included photos about repainting the second (yes second) blue dresser for our foyer, bulbs just starting to pop up from our flower beds, a great photo of my daughter asleep outside on the patio, and another patio shot of just what it looks like right before we get ready for warm weather. The leaf wood veneer from the Cienna wood veneers on top of the Striped card from the April kit, I think is my favorite part. Stripes are my favorite. 🙂

I also have created a video to show your my Project Life process in more detail…you can find that link HERE.

I hope my pocket pages are inspiring you to pull out your favorite Elle’s studio supplies, photos, and document some of your memories. We would love to see what you create, please be sure to post it in the Elle’s Studio member gallery.

PROJECT LIFE: EASTER

Today I am sharing how I documented Easter using pocket style pages!IMG_0606

One thing that I love about this method of scrapbooking is that even if I am a little bit behind I can jump ahead, document something that is most current, and go back and fill in the gaps later.  I find I am most inspired by recent photos, stories, and events.  Sometimes that is just the inspiration I need to go back and get caught up as well.

IMG_0589

This spread focuses on this past Easter Sunday.  I used the Elle’s Studio March 2015 Kit and pieces from the Cienna Collection (which are perfect colors for an Easter or Spring themed spread!).IMG_0593

We did not visit the Easter Bunny on Easter Sunday, but rather, a few weeks prior. I decided to include the story and photo on this spread instead of including it on the actual week it happened.  I am trying to allow myself to not be so limited to chronological and date-focused documenting.  And I love the result of all Easter and Easter related photos are all on one page.

Sketch Thursday

Today’s sketch was inspired by Jill’s Springtime Evidence layout. It’s a trusty grid design full of layers and little details.Sketch 1April2015

Michelle is joining us today with her take on the sketch. I love how she followed the sketch very closely with a simpler approach. Gorgeous layout!SONY DSC

Michelle said: I am always inspired by a grid design and used it as an opportunity to use multiple photos. I found that the colors in the photos went really well with the beautiful yellow and pinks from the new Cienna collection, so I went through and picked out possible papers, tags, and embellishments in those colors. I trimmed down a 3×4 journaling card to use as my title and embellished lightly with a few tags and a flower. I really enjoyed working with this weeks sketch!

Supplies:  Cienna Stickers; Cienna Bits and Pieces; Cienna Journaling Tags; Cienna Paper Collection Pack.

For a chance to win a $10 gift certificate to the Shop, create a project inspired by today’s sketch, upload it to the Member gallery and leave a comment here with the link by April 15th. A random winner will be selected and posted with the next sketch on April 16th.

PROJECT LIFE

Today I am sharing a pocket page spread that highlights my daughter’s recent birthday party!IMG_9972

A few weeks ago I documented two weeks in one spread, and today I am highlighting one day in a spread.  That’s what’s so great about the pocket page scrapbooking– there are no set rules in how you formulate the pages.  You can highlight a day, week, 2 weeks, or month on a page.  Anything works!

IMG_9977

We recently had my daughter’s birthday party– it was a Frozen theme (of course!) and we even had two special guests, Anna and Elsa, join us.  We went ALL OUT for this party so I had to take time and space to include photos and thoughts in our album.  IMG_9969

I used a combination of Cienna, Winter Ephemera Pack, and Shine to create this layout. IMG_9973Elle’s Studio Products Used: Cienna: Paper Pack Collection, Cienna- Stickers, Cienna Word Labels, Cienna- Journaling Tags, Cienna: Bits and PiecesCienna: Hello StampWinter Ephemera Pack Numbers StampShine: Journaling Tags

Step-by-Step layout tutorial with Paige Evans

Jane-by-Paige-Evans-for-Elle's-StudioPaige is sharing another fabulous layout tutorial with us today! Can you believe this layout can be broken down and completed in six simple steps?!

Here’s how Paige said it came together:11. Cut a bunch of the flowers from the March cut files from white cardstock and leave everything on the mat. 22. Watercolor over the flowers and leaves using pinks, greens, yellow, and blue.33. Carefully peel off the flowers and leave the inside pieces here and there. (I added tape to the back to make moving the flowers around easier). 44. Start arranging the flowers down the center of your layout. I covered the right half of the Cienna “Adorable” paper with white cardstock.55. Adhere a photo and journal on a March exclusive tag using a pen. 66. Drop white acrylic paint three places around the layout. Such an amazing and inspiring layout, Paige! It was so fun to see it come together and I’m excited about the possibility to use these same techniques for card making for either Easter or Mother’s Day, too!
