Thank you Card by Daniela

Thank you by Daniela Dobson

Daniela is sharing this cute card with us today! Here’s how she said it came together: The hearts (from Always and Forever stamp set) are stamped in pink on Kraft cardstock and patterned paper, with two journaling cards from the March kit layered on top, in the center. Then, the wood veneer heart is layered with hand cut hearts from patterned paper and stitched together. Two more die cuts from the March kit are layered on the card and stitched in place!Thank you close 2 by Daniela Dobson Thank you close by Daniela Dobson

PROJECT LIFE

Today we have two Project Life spreads from design team members Jessy Christopher and Pam Llaguno.Closeup

Jessy Christopher created this beautiful layout:  Week6&7_Full spread

Jessy used the “Project Life Design F” pages for her layouts.Week6&7_left

She shares, “Such a fun spread to put together. I got the pocket cards completed pretty fast, simply because the colours in most of the Elle’s Studio collections fitted well together!”

I love the pops of color she includes in her layout and the consistency in her typed journaling!  Thanks for sharing Jessy!

MAR-3-04

Pam shares, This Project Life spread is from my trip to Baguio City last January. As usual, I stuck to my “formula:” big photos + lots of journaling + intentional embellishments.

MAR-3-01

I love how the March kit had a lot of journaling cards that I can basically customize using a few embellishments (like the Cienna stickers!) and some stamps. And as usual,I can’t make a layout without using my favorite letter and numbers stickers in white!

MAR-3-02

This was a quick + easy layout to make and I like the emphasis on the photos + storytelling. (Also, spot my favorite style – a 4×12″ photo!) I hope you guys can pick up a few techniques from my clean, minimalist layout!

Springtime Evidence by Jill

Hello-blogJill is sharing this beautiful layout with us today and explaining how she captures and documents that spring has arrived! Jill says “Whether you pinpoint the date on a calendar or wait until words like “warm” and “sunshine” enter your vocabulary again, it can’t be denied: spring is in the air.”

“In Hawai’i, where I live, seasons tend to blend into each other. To figure out whether it is springtime yet, all one needs to do is to check what is in bloom — and possibly take a drive to central ‘Oahu, to the small town of Wahiawa, where blossoming sakura trees are a sure sign that the seasons are changing.”

“Prompted by the “evidence” tag in the March 2015 exclusive kit from Elle’s Studio, I set about collecting evidence that spring is indeed here in the islands. The photos are, of course, a pretty obvious piece of evidence, but the journaling puts them in context, explaining what makes the cherry blossoms particularly special.”

Hello-det2-blog“The papers and accents from the Cienna and Shine collections as well as the March kit complement the colors in the photos and help to reinforce the subject matter of the page, creating a fresh, vivid, springtime feel.”

Hello-det1-blogSupplies used: Elle’s Studio March 2015 Kit; Cienna Paper Collection Pack, Journaling Tags, and Bits and Pieces; Shine Paper Collection Pack and Wood Veneers

Love this layout, Jill, thank you for sharing and inspiring us today! Has spring started showing where you live? It’s always fun to capture and document the changing seasons!

Let’s go to the Pool by Meghann Andrew

EllesStudio-Meghann-Digital01Meghann is using our March digitals, along with products from our new release to create this cute and colorful layout! Meghann says “After a cold, dreary winter (even here in south Texas!), I’m ready to create with color and document photos that remind me of warmer times. To create this layout about my daughter’s love of being in the pool, I used the soft, beautiful Cienna collection, mixed with the summery, bright Shine collection and the March exclusive kit and digital cut and printable files!”

EllesStudio-Meghann-Digital03“The word ‘sunshine’ from the March digital cut files was cut twice- once with white and once with grey to create a shadow effect. I then layered it on top of the vellum pinked circle from the March kit and centered it on the starburst of the “So Bright” patterned paper- my favorite from the Shine collection!”

“The diamonds in the Cienna digital files reminded me of the sun shimmering on top of the water, and I decided to size them in three sizes, backing them with patterned paper and popping up some with dimensional adhesive. The only extra embellishment I needed was some sequins to give it that ‘shimmery’ effect. I added the “let’s go to” tag and the “on this day” journaling banner from the Daily Grind printables file and called my layout complete!”

Fun with Patterns by Toni From

EllesStudio-Toni03Toni is sharing this fun layout with us today and inspiring us to pull out our punches to create a fun pattern for the background of a layout!

For this layout, Toni used her heart punch to punch out a bunch of different patterns from our Cienna collection. She then lined them up and stitched them through the middle, leaving each side of the heart popped up to add dimension to her project!
EllesStudio-Toni02Products used: Cienna Papers, Bits and Pieces, Lil’ Snippet Labels, Wood Veneers, Journaling Tags, Stickers; and Letter and Number Stickers – Mint.

Thank you for inspiring us today, Toni! This would be such a fun thing to do with any type of shape, including circles and squares, too!

Sketch 2March2015

Alissa is joining us with an amazing take on the sketch:

hello beautiful sketch

Alissa said: I love this sketch! I was inspired by the photo placement and the strips on the photo and I took the two banners at the bottom and continued them all the way up the page. So fun! This sketch made my page go so fast! It took me less than an hour to create my page and they usually take me much longer. Awesome sketch!

PROJECT LIFE

Today I am sharing the week of February 2-8, and the week of February 9-15.IMG_9836Do you ever have weeks where you hardly pick up the camera?  Whether it’s because you are so busy, it slips your mind, or if you’re in a bit of a slump, it happens to all of us!  Just because there are a few photographs doesn’t mean you can’t document your week in your pocket album!IMG_9826The first two weeks of February were very busy weeks for my family!   Lots of parties, showers, dinners, appointments.   I took some iPhone photos but I didn’t feel like any of them were great photos.  So instead of using photos that I was not particularly connected to, I decided to combine these two crazy weeks and give a brief overview and add only a few photos.IMG_9828By doing this, I was able to really focus on my journaling to tell our stories— which I don’t often focus on the journaling.  It was a refreshing change!  It reminded me that words are just as important as the photos.

Combining two weeks together is a great way to get caught up if you find yourself falling behind in your album or if you have a photo-less few weeks!

Capture Life :: March

Incase you aren’t aware of the awesome capabilities of the Printables that Elle’s Studio has available; sit back cause I’m about to introduce you!

It all starts with this beautiful downloadable piece … EllesStudio-DailyGrind-Printableswhich, by the way is ONLY $3.99! That’s a steal people!

Expand your March Kit with these coordinating printables! There are 18 tags, in .png and .pdf files for your digital or hybrid scrapbooking. You can also print directly from the pdf that is included so you can print them over and over again!

First, we start with simply adding the png files on top of an image.

two-photo-up-copy As you can see; the left image is my original which I resized to a 4×6 print size. I then chose the png file I wanted to use & pulled it onto the photo. Using the paint bucket tool I changed the color of the banner to blend  a bit better with my photo. (This png image is actually from the February Printables.)

I used the same idea with the following two images. Only this time I changed the opacity of the png images to create an overlay.

IMG_9235-copy IMG_9353 copy They’re all set to be printed as 4x6s and slipped into my Project Life album!

Now, to go a bit further with the printables and Photoshop.

Step One : Open the 4×6 Daily Grind png file in Photoshop… EllesStudio-DailyGrind-Printables-DailyGrind-copy Step Two : Open the image you’d like to use & resize to 4×6 as well. Drag it on top of the Daily Grind png file and adjust it to where you want it to be.  EllesStudio-DailyGrind-Printables-DailyGrind copy I then added journaling with the type tool and highlighted the time using the paintbrush tool (lowering the opacity on the color so you could still see the time). Once flattened, save as a jpeg and you’re set to print as a 4×6 photo!

The next card I created uses multiple layers and png files from the March printables. Remember, Photoshop is just a matter of working in layers. You can manipulate them  by changing the opacity, colors, and sizes. If you look closely at my image you’ll see I lowered the opacity of it just slightly so you could still see the diagonal line. I like how it blends it all together.

EllesStudio-DailyGrind-Printables-YellowJournalingTag-copy And last but not least; I used the red 3×4 card in the March Printables to create another custom piece for my Project Life album. This time creating multiple layers of the same card, deleting portions of the red part, and changing the color of the letters to use as a layer on top of my image of my daughter’s boots.  EllesStudio-DailyGrind-Printables-EverydayAdventure-copy How awesome are the possibilities with these printables!

Share how you are using them in our Member Gallery! We can’t wait to see!

Ombre stamping with Rachel

13.3.15_TipsprojectRachel is sharing this fun card with us, made with products from our newly released collection, and how she put this card together with the ombre stamping down the side!

Rachel says “The Hello stamp from the Cienna collection is just gorgeous. It definitely deserves to be the star of the show! I wanted to keep the focus on the lovely sentiment and I wanted an ombre color scheme. I grabbed some ink pads – a range of light yellow, dark yellows, peachy golds and finally oranges and stamped the sentiment down the right side of a rectangular piece of white cardstock. To give the card nice movement, I ensured the first ‘hello’ and the last ‘hello’ were stamped off the white cardstock.”13.3.15_Tipsproject_hello“I notched the edges of the stamped panel and wrapped it with twine. I then chose some cute embellishments from the Cienna bits & pieces and wood veneer sets to create a little cluster around the bow. It can be hard to find a spot for your sentiment or embellishments, but don’t be afraid to cover up portions of your lovely stamping – the colors and shape still peak through and create a pleasing mix.” 13.3.15_Tipsproject_detailProducts used: Cienna paper collection, bits and pieces, wood venner, and Hello stamp.

What a fun way to use stamps – thank you for sharing, Rachel! We hope this inspires everyone to pull out your stamps and get stamping this weekend!
