Inside My Planner with Candi Billman

Happy Weekend!!!  So thrilled to be here again, sharing my passion with you all…planners and scrapbooking goodies!!!  Today I am showing you how I am using the August Monthly Kit along with the Oh, No! Stamp Set inside my planner.  I love using these monthly kits and stamps for planning!  The tags and shapes are just the right size and make my planner so cute!  It makes me want to open up my planner and tackle the day!!!  Here is a shot of my whole week…
EllesStudio-PlannerWithCandi-01Besides decorating my planner inserts with scrapbook goodies…stamping is right up there too!!!  You will see here that I used a technique called “Second Generation Stamping”:  ink up your stamp, stamp it out once and then right away, without re-inking the stamp…stamp it out again!  This gives a faded image!  Such a fun technique!  I stapled that cute little “Date” tag down on Monday…I will jot down my most important to-do for that day!  The “Hello!” die cut is just hanging on by the planner ring…FUN!EllesStudio-PlannerWithCandi-02I used my mini stapler and stapled down the “My Top Five” tag to the top of my planner insert!  This will be a place to jot down a fun memory from each day!  The last and final thing that I do to all of my planner inserts, is add washi tape to the inside edges!  It just reinforces the holes a little bit better…EllesStudio-PlannerWithCandi-011Inside the front cover of my planner…POCKETS!!!  Great place to store those extra tags for decorating or just jotting down random notes!  I have a small pouch that stores my must haves for planning on the go and it includes a single hole punch.  I love to punch holes in these tags and add them to my week!EllesStudio-PlannerWithCandi-04I am constantly creating a new dashboard for my planner!  They are fun to change out…oh the beauty of a planner with rings, change things up all the time 🙂 I grabbed a 12×12 paper from the Shine Collection and trimmed it down to size.  Inked up the edges and punched a few holes on the left hand side to place it inside the rings.  To complete this look I trimmed down another 12×12 paper to 3×4 and stapled the “Awesome” die cut (from the August kit) on top of that.  I did go a little crazy with my ink pad and edged the vellum with some pink!  To protect my dashboard, I add a clear transparency on top (not pictured)!EllesStudio-PlannerWithCandi-05Products used: Exclusive August Kit, Oh No! Thanks for stopping by and taking a peek inside my planner!
Have a great weekend!

Sketch Thursday

Good Morning, All! Alissa here today and I’ve got my take on this fabulous sketch! The original layout was created by Jennifer Chapin and I love everything about it!
EllesStudio-Sketch-08-20-2015I love the big title that spans the page and the 4 “photo” areas.

seahawks-01Products used: Shine Paper Collection; Cienna Paper Collection; Exclusive August kit, XO Acrylics

I turned the sketch on its side to accommodate some of the photos I take of my hubby and myself every week during football season.

seahawks-02I love how the colors in the collections all got so well together and pink is usually included to tie it all together.  The acrylic pieces from the August exclusives were just perfect!

Project Life with Jennifer Chapin

EllesStudio-JenChapin-ProjectLife02Hello! Jennifer Chapin here, and today I am sharing a pocket page from my personal PL album. I keep a few different albums, a 12×12 for my family PL pages and a 6×8 album for my personal pages. In my personal album, I share more layouts about myself, my husband, my schooling, job, etc. Basically anything that doesn’t involve my kids.EllesStudio-JenChapin-ProjectLife03For this spread, I used the August exclusive kit, along with the stamp and XO acrylics. For a title card, I stamped Hello, then spelled Date Night out with letter stickers. I added an acrylic heart on the outside of the page protector. I like to do this for bulkier embellishments.

EllesStudio-JenChapin-ProjectLife01I wanted to incorporate the XO acrylic pieces, so I added them to a pocket and used my sewing machine to stitch the top edge. I like the transparency this gives the page.
EllesStudio-JenChapin-ProjectLife04I also used the vellum “awesome” card in the kit, simply adding it to a piece of blue cardstock and stitching the top edge. It is subtle yet provides just the right amount of color to the bottom corner.

Thank you so much for stopping by the blog today! If you have made something special with our August kit, we would love to see it! Please stop by the gallery and upload it. Have a great day!

Oh, No! Stamp Highlight

Hello, it’s Meghann here with you today! I started papercrafting with stamping and cardmaking, long before I ever created a scrapbook page, so stamping is one of my favorite techniques to use on my layouts, cards and pocket pages. Today I’d like to share an easy card that I created with the squares from the “Oh, No!” stamp set, an exclusive stamp that coordinates with the August exclusive kit.EllesStudio-Stamping-MeghannAndrew01To create this layout, I started out with a purple, folded A2 card base, a piece of smooth white cardstock sized at 4” x 5-1/4”, the “hello” vellum speech bubble, “oh hello” and purple “happiness is” tag from the exclusive kit, a few different colors of ink, a sheet of stickers, and some small enamel embellishments that all coordinated with the August kit.EllesStudio-Stamping-MeghannAndrew02To begin, I decided to stamp a border along the top and bottom of my piece of white cardstock. I inked up my solid square stamp with yellow ink and began the design at the center of the width of the paper, right along the bottom edge.EllesStudio-Stamping-MeghannAndrew03I continued along the edge by stamping with the diagonal lines square in a coral ink.EllesStudio-Stamping-MeghannAndrew04I then stamped the solid square again, in pink.EllesStudio-Stamping-MeghannAndrew05I continued in this manner – solid, diagonal lines, solid, dots, solid; being sure that the same color was never next to each other, until the entire bottom edge of the card was stamped.  EllesStudio-Stamping-MeghannAndrew06I stamped the same pattern along the top edge of the white cardstock, changing up the colors from the bottom border.EllesStudio-Stamping-MeghannAndrew07To the bottom left hand corner of the “oh, hello” card, I added a sticker that coordinated with the colors in my border and trimmed the excess off the edges. The small piece of the purple card was cut from the “happiness is” card, adhered to the back of the “oh, hello” card at an angle and adhered to the white cardstock with dimensional adhesive.EllesStudio-Stamping-MeghannAndrew08Using a light amount of liquid adhesive, I adhered the “hello” vellum tag to the “oh, hello” card. EllesStudio-Stamping-MeghannAndrew09To finish off the card, I added an additional coordinating arrow sticker to the top right corner and four different enamel dots and hearts.EllesStudio-Stamping-MeghannAndrew10This colorful border is just one of the many things you can create with this fun, versatile stamp set. Be sure to pick yours up in the shop today! EllesStudio-Stamping-MeghannAndrew11

Back to School Card with Meghann Andrew

Hi there, it’s Meghann  and welcome to the Elle’s Studio blog today! When I finish using all of the cards from my exclusive kits, I usually have a few bits and pieces left over sitting on my desk. This month, I decided to combine a few of my July leftovers with the August exclusive kit to create a fun, colorful back to school card that any kid would love to find in their lunchbox on their first day.EllesStudio-Cards-MeghannAndrew01Supplies: “Weekend” printablesacrylic stars (a July exclusive, sold out), “Weekend” stamp“Let’s Eat” collection paper pack (Best Ever grid paper), August exclusive kit

To start my card, I cut a piece of white cardstock to a folded A2 card size, 4-1/4” x 5-1/2”. On top of that, I layered the teal and blue 4”x6” card from the “Weekend” printables, trimmed to 4” x 5-1/4”, then the “Best Ever” grid paper, trimmed to 3-3/4” x 5”.

At the base of the grid paper, I stamped the “today is your day” sentiment from the “Weekend” stamp in black ink. Above that, on the left, I adhered the “let’s do this” tag from the August kit with dimensional adhesive & topped it with blue baker’s twine.

EllesStudio-Cards-MeghannAndrew02To the right of my tag, I added a chipboard stack of books that I found in my stash. On top of that, I stamped a globe stand in black, then adhered my ‘back to school’ tag inside, so that it looked like a globe. Tip: No globe stamp? No problem! This globe stand would be super easy to draw yourself with a black pen if you don’t have a stamp. Just adhere the tag first, then draw the stand around it.

EllesStudio-Cards-MeghannAndrew03To connect the tag on the left with my stack of books on the right, I adhered a punched pinked circle from the “Weekend” printables, on which I stamped the “yay” sentiment from the “Weekend” stamp.

To finish off my card, I adhered the “first day” tag in between my layers at the top right and embellished with three acrylic hearts and two yellow stickers, to make a visual triangle with the top of my “let’s do this” tag.

I love that I can combine my kits to make special projects like this card, and reduce my leftover product sitting around my desk! Thanks for stopping by, and be sure to add your projects, using our exclusive kits, to the member gallery!

Cant get over how perfect the “Week End” card (from the July Weekend Printables), and the “Eat” card (from the Let’s Eat Paper Collection Pack) go so well together.  I paired it with a spoon from the Let’s Eat Wood VeneersIMG_2579

One thing I LOVE is the Elle’s Studio monthly Printables! IMG_2591

I used the August Printables in this spread– I love that I corresponds with the monthly kit and that I can use them over and over.  I used both the August and July Printables in this spread. IMG_2566

Sketch Thursday

EllesStudio-Sketch-08-06-2015Good Morning! This is Melissa here this morning with my take on this fabulous sketch! The original layout was created by Lisa Dickinson and she has such a classic scrapping style that I love.

August_MLM1I stuck to the sketch pretty closely. I used pattern paper for the top and bottom squares and used a 4×6 picture and a 4×6 Elle’s Studio Journaling card from the August 2015 kit (available August 10th) in between the pattern paper blocks. Before I stitched down all the blocks on the left hand side of the base, I spritzed some mist all over and let it dry. I stitched down the blocks of paper, tag, and picture using my sewing machine. My title “eat well” was cut out using my Silhouette Cameo and this was also stitched down. I sprinkled some enamel dots and small stars on either side of the blocks of paper and stitched the “Good Eats” digital cut over the top of my picture.

August_MLM2Products used:  Shine paper collection; Exclusive August 2015 kit (available on August 10th); Let’s Eat paper collection, stickers;  and November Cut Files.

August_MLM3I can’t wait to see what you guys do with this sketch! It’s a super versatile sketch that can be used with 1, 2, 3, or even 4 different pictures! For a chance to win a $10 gift certificate to our shop, create a project inspired by today’s sketch, upload it to the Member gallery and leave a comment here with the link by August 19th. A random winner will be selected and posted with the next sketch on August 20th.

Thanks for stopping by!
