PROJECT LIFE

Today I am sharing a page in my daughter’s childhood album. IMG_9001 Over this Labor Day Weekend we had the opportunity to see Disney’s Frozen on Ice!  It was such a fun experience for my daughter and her cousin.  You can’t beat walking downtown dressed as Anna and Elsa!   Frozen has been something she has loved ever since the movie came out, so I had to document this special experience in her album! IMG_8990 I was super excited to use our new Thankful Collection for this spread.  Thankful will be available in our shop this week on Thursday September 10th!  You will love this collection!  The colors and sentiments in the collection worked perfectly with my photos and journaling.IMG_8993 I kept my design fairly simple and focused on the photos and words.  I loved the numbered journaling card in the Thankful Paper Collection!  I listed some of our favorite moments during the show.  ($15 Olaf snow cone, anyone?)

Make sure to check out our shop on September 10th to check out this entire collection!IMG_8996Elle’s Studio Products Used:  Thankful Journaling Cards, Thankful Bits and Pieces, Thankful Paper Collection Pack, Thankful Cutouts, Thankful Stickers, Thankful Cutouts (Thankful in our shop on September 10th), Letter and Number Stickers- Yellow, Thankful Stamps, Let’s Eat Word Labels, Let’s Eat Wood Veneers

Sketch Thursday with Kay Rogers

EllesStudio-September3SketchWelcome to another Sketch Thursday! Today we have a fun sketch inspired by Lisa’s beautiful “Rock the Beatles” layout!  I love a good grid layout, so this sketch was right up my alley!
EllesStudio-Sketch-Kay

Products used: Thankful Paper Collection, Cork, Bits and Pieces, and Cutouts – will be available in the shop on September 10th.

I went with a larger square, and made it a 3×3. I love Lisa’s layout, and have been a fan of her work for a number of years. One of my favorite techniques of hers is to use tone-on-tone embellishing, rather than mixing up the colors. What I love about that technique is it really allows the focus to be on the photos, which is my ultimate goal. I used that as an inspiration as well.

We are excited to see what you all do with this sketch! For a chance to win a $10 gift certificate to our shop, create a project inspired by today’s sketch, upload it to the Member gallery and leave a comment here with the link by September 16th. A random winner will be selected and posted with the next sketch on September 17th.

Thanks for stopping by and we hope this layout inspires you to make something beautiful this weekend! -Kay

Project Life with Toni From

Happy Tuesday! Toni here today. I must say, I am seriously in love with the new Thankful collection (shipping now to stores, and in stock in the Elle’s Studio shop on September 10th). And don’t even get me started talking about the stamps. The Jordan Alphabet? Seriously? It really is the cutest alphabet stamp set ever.

So what am I blogging about? I have a Project Life page to share using the Thankful collection and the Jordan alphabet stamps of course.

I am a huge fan of Project Life. I love documenting my families everyday moments and life events. What I have found over five plus years of working on this project, is that if I keep it simple, it gets done. Below you will see a page in my Project Life album that came together very quickly, and captures some great memories.
EllesStudio-ProjectLife-ToniFrom01What I love most about this collection is that it is just really easy to use for anything you want to document. I have a boy and a girl and this collection is super versatile for anything that might go on this fall for either of them. The colors are gorgeous and the patterns coordinate very well together. The cork pieces, stamps, stickers, and bits and pieces add the perfect finishing touches to your photos, without being too bulky.

In the photo below I incorporated just a few embellishments on each of my pockets to add a little something to the photos. Very simple, quick to do, and fun to look at.EllesStudio-ProjectLife-ToniFrom02The Jordan Alphabet stamps are my favorite by far. I came up with a  fun way to feature them on a journaling card included in the Journaling Tags package from the Thankful collection.EllesStudio-ProjectLife-ToniFrom03 All I had to do for this card was to stamp “WITL” with the Jordan alphabet stamp set. Fill in the letters using the Jordan dots and stripes stamp, and then add my dates using a date stamp from my stash. Very clean, simple, and it makes me smile.

I hope today’s post has inspired you to pull out some pocket pages and create something you will love. Please make sure to post your creations in the Elle’s Studio gallery or on Instagram and tag #ellesstudio. We would love to see what you make! And, look for the Thankful collection in the Elle’s Studio shop during the next exclusive kit launch on September 10th!

PROJECT LIFE: BACK TO SCHOOL

It’s that time of year again- Back to School!  Today I am going to show you how I documented the first day of school.IMG_8690I have decided to focus on building a childhood album that highlights the school year for each of my children. The first day of school is the perfect first page for the album!

jonah bookI created a layout for my son that was easily duplicated (with of course a girl theme for my daughter).  It is simple and quick to put together!   I used the same photo of the two of them together, a 3×4 single photo, and a 3×4 of each child with their teacher).

One Elle’s Studio item I love to use is the “My Favorites” interview journaling card in the Cameron and Penelope collections- it’s so fun to see what they say every year!

IMG_8689I also used a striped pattern paper with the school year in each spread.  The paper in Jonah’s layout is from the Let’s Eat Paper Collection, and the paper from Jordan’s layout is from the NEW Thankful Paper Collection.   I also used our brand new IN STOCK Jordan Stamps in both layouts— they are so fun to play with!!!

I used one journaling spot to describe the morning before school, one journaling spot to document the actual day and how it went, and then one journaling spot was dedicated to their teacher.IMG_8686Elle’s Studio products used for Jonah’s layout: Jordan Stamp Solid, Jordan Stamp Outline, Jordan Stamp Dots and Stripes, Cameron Large and Medium Journaling Tags, Let’s Eat Paper Collection Pack, August 2015 Kit, Thankful Journaling Cards, Thankful Stickers, Weekend Printables, Letter and Number Stickers- Yellow, Hello 2015 Stickers

I repeated this format for my daughter’s page and was able to complete it in no time at all!  I hope this inspires you to get those Back to School memories documented!IMG_8693Elle’s Studio Products for Jordan’s layout: Jordan Stamp Solid, Jordan Stamp Outline, Jordan Stamp Dots and Stripes, August 2015 Kit, Thankful Journaling Cards, Thankful Paper Collection Pack,  Letter and Number Stickers– Mint, Thankful Stickers, Cienna Stickers, Hello 2015 Stickers, Numbers Stamp

Summer Layout with Michelle Wedertz

Hot-SummerProducts used: Exclusive August Kit; Let’s Eat Paper collection; Letter and Number Stickers-Teal; XO acrylic’s

I’m always excited to see the colors included in the exclusive monthly kits and this month I was pretty happy to see pops of orange. Orange is one of those colors that doesn’t seem to appear too often in scrapbooking supplies and I loved having the opportunity to use it in a layout.

Hot-Summer-3I really liked the orange “Hot” journaling card (which I trimmed down in size) because it not only complimented the colors in my photo, but it also emphasized the subject of my journaling-how we were keeping cool during this hot, hot summer.

Hot-Summer-2When it came to pulling complimentary papers for my layout, I turned to the Let’s Eat Collection and found some great yellows and teal that I thought worked really well. I chose to embellish simply and along with with a few items from my own stash, I included the fun white velum (from the August Kit) and acrylic hearts.

I hope this inspires you to pull out your kit and get your special summer memories documented! – Michelle

Mix & Match Challenge with Jessy Christopher

Hello & welcome to the Elle’s Studio blog! I’m Jessy and I’ll l be hosting a very fun challenge this week. I’d love for you to create a project that mixes + matches using any collection along with the August exclusive kit.

Today, I’ll be sharing a layout that I created that suited this challenge. Let me share with you the creative process…

EllesStudio-HelloDimsumProducts used: Exclusive August kit, Oh No! Stamp Set, Cienna Paper Collection, Cienna Bits & Pieces, Cienna Wood Veneers, Let’s Eat Paper Collection, Let’s Eat Stickers, Let’s Eat Wood Veneers, Shine Paper Collection, Shine Bits & Pieces, Letters & Numbers Stickers – Yellow

I started off by selecting the collections that I want to create with i.e. Let’s Eat, Cienna & Shine + the August kit as well. Once I’m done with that, I picked patterned papers (that leaned towards graphic lines) from each collection to begin with. After the patterned papers placement, I adhered the photo in the middle. Then, I begin to work around the photo and slowly to the bottom of the layout. I wanted to use a lot of labels & tags onto this layout to create a heavy typography kind of layout. This layout is perfect to use all the little bits & pieces lingering in your stash. Once that is all done, I completed this layout with a stamped + alpha stickers title, tucked a doily, journaled and sprinkled some gold mist.

EllesStudio-HelloDimsum2
I absolutely love the fact that all Elle’s Studio collections can be mix + match easily. And I do hope that you will join this challenge and play along – make sure you upload your projects to our member gallery!

Thanks for coming by and happy crafting!
Xoxo Jessy

Hello! card with Daniela Dobson

Hello-card-by-Daniela-Dobson

Hi, Daniela here with a card using my favorite techniques: layering and stamping. I usually start with a base color and add little bits and pieces that look good together.

Hello-card-close-by-Daniela-Dobson

I like to use 3D foam squares for dimension, plus it gives me space to tuck in additional things, like twine. To finish off the card I add stamps, washi tape and sequins.

PROJECT LIFE

Swimming is a huge part of our Summer (and still on the weekends now that the kids are back in school).IMG_8560We are fortunate to have a swimming pool in our backyard, so you can bet we spend countless hours around the pool each summer.

IMG_8553

I snapped the enlarged photo of my daughter floating in the pool this summer and thought it was perfect example of how we love our pool!  I decided to do a small layout in my summer album showing how much we love to swim.

IMG_8555

I used the colors of the noodles in the pool as my inspiration for this spread (yellow, orange and blue).  I grabbed my August 2015 Kit and the Weekend Printables to put together this spread.  I added some color pencil to fill in the HOT, the heart in the stamp, and to outline the circle (to give it a pop).  I couldn’t resist using the Acrylic Stars— especially since it perfectly matched the star on my daughter’s bathing suit!

IMG_8558

By using just a few supplied I pulled together this spread in no time at all!

Home Sweet Home by Paige Evans

Home-Sweet-Home-by-Paige-EvansPaige is sharing a step-by-step layout tutorial with us today using our exclusive August kit, XO acrylics, cut files, and printables! We are loving the fun layers and ombre effect this layout has – wait until you see the simple 5 step process she has laid out for us on how it all came together!

EllesStudio-Paige-August-011. Cut three mountains (flip the middle one horizontally) from white cardstock, using the August Cut File.

EllesStudio-Paige-August-022. Print and trim the printables then arrange them along with the August kit contents, and XO acrylics, in red/pink/orange/yellow ombre.

EllesStudio-Paige-August-033. Place the mountain die cut page over the pieces to see how you like it.

EllesStudio-Paige-August-044. Watercolor red/pink/orange/yellow across another sheet of white cardstock and let it dry. Adhere all of the pieces in place then add the die cut page on top using foam dots.
