Documenting TV Favorites with Melissa Mann

Our “downtime” is just as important as the busy moments in our lives, so why not document it as well? The TV mini collection is perfect for documenting the shows and movies that we love to watch, and Melissa Mann is with us today to share her favorites documented with this collection!

Good morning, everyone! I’m excited to be with you on the blog today with the fabulous TV mini collection! I LOVED every.single.one of the 3″ x 4″ tags when I pulled them out of the kit and wanted to use each and every one of them on my layout. At first, I considered doing a pocket page spread to include in my album, but I decided to go ahead and create one of my favorite things: a grid based layout using six of the tags!

Supplies | Sunny Days 12″ x 12″ Paper Collection, TV Mini Collection, Little Moments 12″ x 12″ Paper Collection, Letter and Number Stickers- Pink, Letter and Number Stickers- Light Gray, August Digital Cut File, Everyday Labels Puffy Stickers- Teal

I used one of the tags to type out my journaling; the other five feature a photo of one of my favorite TV shows or series adhered to it. I cut out my title using my Silhouette Cameo and the August Digital Cut File, the rest of my title was created using the pink and light gray letter and number stickers.

After placing my 3″ x 4″ tags on my layout, I slipped die cuts, stickers, and wood veneer around them. Lastly, I used the TV Stamp with black ink and stamped some of the fun words and phrases in various places on my layout.

I hope you enjoy this layout and can’t wait to see the projects you create using this fabulous mini collection! Be sure to share them on Instagram with the hashtag #EllesStudio!

A Feel Better Gift with Meghann Andrew

Last month, we had two new mini collections available in the shop to help you document real life moments: Feel Better and TV. We’ve had several projects here on the blog featuring these lovely mini collections, and today Meghann Andrew is with us to share the versatility of the Feel Better Stamp!

Hello there! I’m excited to be here with you today to share a fun, quick “feel better” gift for a sick friend or loved one!

Supplies | Feel Better Stamp, Little Moments 6″ x 6″ Paper Stack

This thoughtful little gift would be perfect to brighten someone’s day. I simply used a clean, empty children’s liquid medicine bottle, and filled it with candy- in this case I used Smarties, as they look like colorful pills. I covered the bottle with a scrap of paper from the Little Moments 6″ x 6″ Paper Stack and then added a tied ribbon and the sweet prescription stamped image from the Feel Better Stamp that I cut from cardstock.

(Note: If you make this for a child, be sure that they are old enough to understand the difference between candy “pills” and real medication.)

The card was simple to create! I stamped the bandage in several colors on smooth, white cardstock to create my colorful background. I then stamped “get well soon” onto cardstock, and cut it out with a banner end on the left side. Before adhering it to my folded card with dimensional adhesive, I added ribbon for a different texture.

This simple project only took about 15 minutes to create, and its sure to brighten the day of someone who is feeling under the weather! Be sure to pick up the Feel Better Stamp in the Elle’s Studio shop today!

A Happy Layout with Allie Stewart

Allie Stewart is with us today, sharing a beautiful, colorful layout that we just love! Check out how she used the So Happy Wood Veneer as her title, and manipulated the January 2017 Digital Cut File to create a lovely border of hearts. Read below to see how she created this layout and be inspired!

Hello friends! Today I’m excited to be sharing a page using the February Exclusive Kit, as well as some of the fun extras released this month. I was particularly inspired by one of the journaling cards in the kit. I loved the various sized hearts stacked on one side, and decided to replicate the look on my page.

Supplies | February Exclusive Kit, So Happy Wood Veneer, Speech Bubble StickersDate StickersHeart Circle Acrylics, Puffy Heart StickersLittle Moments 6″ x 6″ Paper Stack, January 2017 Digital Cut File

I started by tracing hearts from the January 2017 Digital Cut File in Silhouette Studio, and arranging them on the side of the page. Once I was happy with the arrangement, I cut it from white cardstock using my Cameo. I backed each heart using a mix of February journaling cards, and the Little Moments 6″ x 6″ Paper Stack.

Next, I used the packaging technique with purple and pink mist to add a little flair to the background. I matted my photo onto gray paper, and glued it down so that the edges of the mist design peeked out. The So Happy Wood Veneer is adorable, and was perfect for a title about my husband and pup! With my photo and title added, it was time to embellish! I added words and phrases above and below my photo using the Little Moments cut apart patterned paper and the Speech Bubble stickers. I love the Date Stickers, and wanted to use them on this page. I created a pennant banner using the flag stickers with twine! I draped it underneath my photo and title to help draw attention to them. Finally, I finished the page off with acrylic and puffy hearts. You can never have too many hearts!!

I had a lot of fun creating this layout to share with you. I never cease to be inspired by the monthly kits, and I love how the journaling cards always inspire my layouts!

Journaling the Real Life Details with Tessa Buys

For so many of us scrapbookers, seeing our photos in print on our pages is the most important part of our hobby, but what good are our photos without the stories that they tell? Today, Tessa Buys is sharing a new layout featuring the February 2017 Exclusive Kit in which she delves into the details: good and bad, of her life right now. We hope it inspires you to use your Elle’s Studio tags to jot down those stories today!

Hello Elle’s Studio friends! Tessa Buys here. Journaling is near and dear to my heart. A long time ago my dad was looking at some of my completed scrapbook pages and asked, “Where are the stories?” Seeing how important the words were to my dad made me consider adding more journaling, and while at times I don’t need many words, I do make the effort more often than not to document the story. I love that Elle’s Studio products help me do so in a creative way. Case in point, my latest layout, using the February kit and some other extras from the shop.

Supplies | February 2017 Exclusive Kit, What Happened Stamp, February Labels, Puffy Heart Stickers, Letter and Number Stickers – Pink, Everyday Labels Puffy Stickers – Black

I started with the “Real Life” tag from the February Exclusive Kit, then cut out all of the February Labels that coordinated with my photo. I lined up three copies of my picture and used the rest of the space for documenting. In a combination of handwriting and stamps from the What Happened Stamp, I detailed some not-so-fun, real life moments, which gave way to a list of things I am grateful for.

I wrote out my journaling on a scratch piece of paper before I began gluing down labels and tags. With the stamped phrases in mind, I organized my journaling in a way that would fit on the labels and tags, as well as between them. Once I had an arrangement I liked, I began writing, stamping and gluing. I also added in a few stickers. Journaling with two pen points – 0.1 and 0.5 – added some added variety.

A little bit of ink splatter, a few Puffy Heart Stickers, and some circle puffy stickers from the Everyday Labels Puffy Stickers were all I needed for embellishment. I just let the creative journaling do the talking. If it’s been awhile since you really told a story on a page, consider doing so! And if you need a creative way to get the job done, fill up your layout with labels and tags. In any arrangement, you words will take center stage and you’ll love the result. Happy scrapping!

A Patchwork Layout with Michelle Wedertz

The beautiful patterns and colors featured on the tags in our exclusive kits are perfect to use in place of patterned paper on your next layout, and Michelle Wedertz illustrates that perfectly here on an 8-1/2″ x 11″ layout featuring the February Exclusive Kit. Her design might just inspire you to put aside your patterned paper and pull out tags instead for your next layout!

This month my favorite part of February Exclusive Kit is the color scheme. The colors are both fresh and bright and includes hues that I don’t get to work with too often-orange and purple! These two colors show up quite frequently in my photos and it is so nice to finally have them in my scrapbooking products. I also like how the two colors provide contrast against a bright green, such as the grass in my photo that is featured in my layout today.

Supplies: February Exclusive Kit,  Love with Arrow Acrylic, Date Stickers, Speech Bubble Stickers, and Puffy Heart Stickers.

I decided to take a color blocking approach to my layout, that way I could fit in several different patterns. Instead of using patterned paper, I cut out rectangles from the journaling tags in the February Exclusive Kit to create a patchwork look to my design.

To finish my layout I reached for my new favorite embellishment- the Puffy Heart Stickers! I just adore these and find myself reaching for them again and again. Since the hearts come in several sizes and colors I can work them into almost any project I am working on. Thankfully I don’t have to live in fear of running out because there are quite a few hearts on one sheet!

Wishing you a happy day!

Documenting Movie Favorites with Guest Designer Susan

We have so loved having Susan, a.k.a. “littlethingsbigdays” with us as our guest this month, and want to thank her for her beautiful creations! Today she’s sharing her final project with us, a layout documenting her favorite movies using the TV mini collection, and we love how she paired it with the February Exclusive Kit to create an awesome design! Let’s take a look.

One last hello from me! I have a layout today using the fun TV mini collection– the tags, stamp and wood veneer are great for documenting all those shows we love to watch. I used the TV items, along with a couple of pieces from the February Exclusive Kit, on my page about the DVDs that are like old friends to me.

Supplies | TV Journaling Tags, TV Stamp, TV Wood Veneer, February Exclusive Kit, Fav Acrylic, Speech Bubble Stickers

I offset my photo on the yellow-lined 4″ x 6″ tag from the February Exclusive Kit (a lined card just doesn’t have to be used for journaling!) and then added some Speech Bubble Stickers to fill in the empty space on the left.

I added my journaling to the gray lined 4″ x 6″ tag from the TV Journaling Tags and a few stamped phrases from the TV Stamp – the “spoiler alert” was perfect to call attention to my story.

I filled the top third of the page with a collage of assorted embellishments including one of the TV Wood Veneer pieces, some die-cut banners, and the 5-star rating stamped on a pocket card. The Fav Acrylic from the February add-ons serves as my title.

I’ve really enjoyed my time here this month – thanks so much to Elle and Meghann for asking me to guest design!

I love recording stories to capture our memories because I believe that all the little details add up to a big life. You can find me on Instagram as @littlethingsbigdays or on my blog “Little Things, Big Days.”

Documenting Your Favorite TV Shows with Alissa Fast

We all have a favorite television show, right? Whether it is a historic drama on PBS, a funny sitcom, or a re-run from our childhood, have you documented it in your album? We have the perfect supplies for you to do just that with the TV mini collection, and today, Alissa Fast is with us to share how she documented her favorites!

Good Morning, all! It’s Alissa here today with a pocket page using the brand new TV mini collection. I love binge watching TV, and this new collection is perfect for documenting my favorites! I love everything in the TV collection: The journaling tags leave plenty of room for journaling, the TV Stamp is super fun for adding stamped embellishments or journaling prompts, and the TV Wood Veneer add the perfect accent for your stories!

Supplies | TV Journaling Tags, TV Stamp, TV Wood Veneer, Letter and Number Stickers- Black, Letter and Number Stickers- Red, Puffy Heart Stickers

I found photos on Google Images of my three all-time favorite TV shows and printed them at 4″ x 6″ to fit the pockets on the page.

I spent most of my time creating this title card and I love how it turned out. I wanted a hand cut title and went old school with a pencil and scrap paper to make a template. I ended up loving the template, but wanted my letters in black. Nothing a few layers of chalkboard paint couldn’t handle. Once dry, I stapled them to the journaling tag and then found a piece of vellum in my stash with gold foil doilies on it. Add a little star punch and I had the perfect 5 stars!

Here’s a close up of the television from the TV Wood Veneer with a cute puffy heart from the Puffy Heart Stickers adhered directly to the photo.

I stamped out the rating strip from the TV Stamp and cut it into a flag banner. A mustard yellow pen was perfect to mark the 5 gold stars I’m rating all these shows.

Now it’s your turn. What are your favorite shows? Shouldn’t we document them in our scrapbooks, too? Of course we should! Now, go get yourself the TV mini collection and get those favorite TV shows documented!

Be sure to share your creation on Instagram using the hashtag #EllesStudio to have the chance to be featured on our blog and win a gift certificate to the shop!
